There is one purpose in life: to glorify God, and to enjoy him for ever. This book aims to encourage us to please God by submitting our wills to his in our romantic relationships. Neil Richardson explains that the teaching of the Bible is that Christians should not go out with non-Christians, and he thoroughly explores the various issues involved. He looks at points such as: Why it is wrong to go out with a non-Christian; Some of our motives for wanting these relationships; What the eternal consequences are if we disobey the Bibles teaching; Our objections to obeying this teaching. In addition, he offers some helpful advice to parents of children who might be involved in relationships with unbelievers, and deals with some ethnic issues which might arise.
Neil Richardson studied Philosophy in University College Dublin and works as a creative writing teacher and editor. He is also a playwright and two of his plays, Through the Dark Clouds Shining and From the Shannon to the Somme, are inspired by stories from his book on the First World War. Neil is also a member of the Reserve Defence Forces and his family have a long military tradition stretching back over 150 years. His great-grandfather’s experiences in the trenches inspired this collection of Irish veterans’ stories.
An excellent read on this subject. Pastor Richardson deals with this subject using biblical principles from the Old and New Testament, to illustrate the absolute clarity and unity of Bible's stand on this matter. This book gets my recommendation for those who are looking at a quick yet faithful and strong handling of this subject. For those who are eager for a more in-depth study of this subject, you should read this book in conjunction with more elaborate ones. How I wish Christians, who are considering dating, can get a copy of this book and read it! (apart from the Bible)
