Vir is in chaos, and soon Amber will be at the center of it all.
The Sacred Forest, that is Amber’s destination after her attempted exile in the capital. But her journey won’t be simple. The Black Rose wants her for an important plan that will happen at her destination. A plan that will endanger those involved, and unbeknownst to her draw the ire of an Archmage — a mage capable of using Level 400 magic. And as if that wasn’t enough trouble, a high-level member of the Arcane Council wants something from her.
Meanwhile, the world as a whole is in turmoil. The Republic of Mercenaries has been turned upside down thanks to Oracle’s schemes, and to top it off the Primordial Spirit of the region has been missing, but all of this is not something that directly concerns Amber.
At least, not until she finds herself venturing towards the Primordial Spirit tower in the Republic of Mercenaries in need of something important, where great and difficult trials await her. Where once more, she will have no choice but to risk her life for her goals.
But Amber will overcome it all, whether it is the troubles in the Sacred Forest, or the status quo of the Republic of Mercenaries; she will come out stronger.
good book, very likable character, writing is getting better.
Just short of five stars. There are some aspects of this story and RPG elements that I just can’t like. It’s a pet peeve of mine that Amber gets Stat points and we have no idea where she assigns them. As she levels up. She gets a certain amount of unassigned points, we as readers have no idea where she puts them. My other pet peeve is that the battles are too long, we know that the author is not going to kill the MC so why abuse the MC like a dogs chew toy in battles. I’d rather have shorter battles and a little bit more story such as the MC gaining runes for her body and doing. other things to power up and progress her levels. I like the fact that Amber is gaining a personality, that was my issue with the character of Arc another book by this author that I loved. if you like OP characters read that book. the writing is getting better and readers know that it is a process of improvement. Nobody gets great overnight. Keep the books coming and I’ll keep reading..
The main character spends an inordinate amount of time thinking compared to how unprepared she is for every circumstance. Circumstances that just explode with as many other overarching plotline converging as possible.
She has friends based on how hard she punches, she punches hard because her plot armor is thick, she has plot armor because the situations she is placed in/allows herself to be dragged into would otherwise kill her. It leaves you feeling that despite this character valuing her progression and growth, she does nothing to preserve or deserve it.
Just a worse version of Azarinth Healer in almost every way, the weak prose really capping it off.
I can see it as someone's cup of tea, just not mine, so I'll be dropping it here.
The battles grow more intense, the broken skills get more broken, and the yuri vibes grow.
The story like like the previous two books builds on the foundations of previous knowledge with nothing ground changing just more depth to the already established world the author has made. Lay some would see a dry story telling I fill it more a journey filled telling if the protagonist’s experience bouts conflict/ personal that really shows that author has stayed at a consistent Lv to keep long time fans hooked.
The main focus is combat, and it has gotten stale. The power curve has become untenable. The first half has the same fight over and over, the same realizations, the same last-minute wins. Typical plot armor, nothing more. The last half is more for laughs, but once more, just the same thing over and over. If this series had an overarching outline, it failed miserably.
Not my favorite book of the series but still a 4 star book. This book is a little more serious with less humor or fun. The ending is a little depressing. But the characters are great and the story is imaginative and moves at a fast pace. Just wish some of the fun and humor would come back. But I would still highly recommend this series
Fantastic series. Author is constantly blowing past my expectations with how far the mc will go. I cant wait to read the next book and by that metric alone you've done your job as an author. Well done guys!
