Pieces of Us

Rate this book
Seven years ago, Annelisa made a choice that destroyed her life—walking away without a word and leaving behind everyone she loved while carrying a secret too painful to share. She built a new life on the other side of the world, convincing herself that she can never go back. But when the weight of what she left behind becomes too much, she returns home, hoping to find some peace.

As long as she can avoid the one person she hurt the most.

Will has spent years watching his friends find love and start families, all while trying—and failing—to move on from the only woman he ever loved. Every failed relationship is a reminder of what he lost when the love of his life disappeared without a goodbye. He’s tried to bury the resentment he holds for his childhood sweetheart, but when she walks back into his life at a friend’s party, the pain resurfaces like it never left.

As unspoken truths come to light, old wounds are ripped open once more, and they are forced to confront the past they never truly let go of.

Pieces of Us is the heart-wrenching final installment in the Circle of Friends series, exploring whether love can truly be rekindled after heartbreak—or if some betrayals can never be forgiven.

A great end to a great series. I'm really glad they found their happy ending. It was not without some bumps and a little truma on the way. I'm glad the Author decided this was the last story.

It’s official… I have a new favourite in the Circle of Friends series.

Allison, you’ve done it again. This book was written so beautifully. (Please do check the trigger warnings—there are sensitive topics handled here.) But the way they were written and explored felt incredibly respectful and powerful.

I knew going in that this would be an emotional read, and it definitely was. I laughed, cried, swooned, and even kicked my feet like a lovestruck teenager.

I absolutely loved the flashbacks and how they gave us insight into Will and Annelisa’s relationship over the years. You really feel the weight Annelisa has carried and why she made the choices she did.

Will is just… the sweetest. So thoughtful and kind. And the Circle of Friends—their chosen family—is truly something special.

This review is so hard to write because I don’t want to give anything away. Just trust me: this series is something special, and I can’t recommend it enough.

This is the last book of the series 'Circle of Friends'. It is set 4 years after the last one and does a marvellous job of rounding out the series and showing the futures of all of the friends showcased through the various books.

Throughout the books, the overall themes have been of friendship, meaningful relationships, standing by one another and embracing who you truly are. This book also focuses on second chances, communication and embracing help and support from others.

While it is sad to see that the series has come to an end, it does show how beautifully they were written in a way that the characters feel more like friends than characters in a book. This book might not be in the top list of 'read again' books as it does come with trigger warnings that are sensitive to myself, but if I were rereading the whole series, it does have a perfect ending for it.

There is so much character development in this book and it's definitely not all sunshine and lollypops but deals with real sensitive issues in a thought provoking and lovely way. Hats off to Allison A Andrews for being thoughtful with the somewhat difficult topics and for treating them with much respect.

Thank you for allowing me to be on your street team and for providing me with a fantastic ARC for me to read. Ready for the next series when you are!

Pieces of Us Review

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶🌶

First off, I would like to say thank you to @allisonaandrews for allowing me to be on her street team and be a part of this amazing journey and series

This book had a hold of me from the start, and literally I couldn't put it down. When I saw 5 am this morning and read 37 chapters, I knew I needed to head to bed but seriously wanted to stay up till I finished it.

This book had me on an emotional roller-coaster journey with Will and Annelisa. To finally see what happened between these two characters was absolutely heartbreaking, and I ached for both of them. I definitely cried mostly through this book with some giggles here and there, and you know when you need to go get snacks and a bottle of wine for comfort.

This second chance between these two amazing characters was written beautifully, and I was in it for the long hall.

Please read the trigger warnings just in case before you dive into this book as it has mental health issues, including postnatal (postpartum), depression, anxiety, pregnancy complications and loss and fertility complications with the feelings of hopelessness.

If you haven't read the Circle of Friends series please go check it out, Pieces of Us will be available on the 15th of May and you can preorder your copy on Amazon or preorder directly from the author for a physically copy.

Here I sit in bed at 9am on a Monday morning, tears streaming down my face (as they have throughout the book) as I read the acknowledgements at the final page of Pieces of Us. Allison, I have been unable to put this book down since I started reading it. Your characters feel like family. Will and Annelisa’s story has been an emotional journey, raw, heartfelt, and deeply moving.

Seven years ago, Annelisa walked away from everything she knew, carrying a painful secret that tore her life apart. Now back home, hoping for peace, she faces the one person she never wanted to hurt: Will, the love she left behind. Will has spent years haunted by her disappearance, trying and failing to move on. When fate brings them face to face again, everything resurfaces: the love, the betrayal, and the wounds that never really healed.

Pieces of Us is a powerful, bittersweet finale to the Circle of Friends series. It's not just a second chance romance, it's a story about forgiveness, truth, and whether love can survive the deepest heartbreak.

From the moment I picked up The Winning Ticket, I’ve been captivated by this world. Each installment has been a gift, and this final chapter, though emotionally devastating in all the best ways, was everything I hoped it would be.

*ARC copy provided by the author*

This is the story I have been waiting for since I finished the first book in the series, and it did not disappoint. From the books in between, we got vague hints and explanations on what went down between Annelisa and Will, but now we get the full picture.

I love how we get flashbacks in this book. We get to see the development of their relationship and get to know them as characters more. This is a second-chance romance, and I loved how they both acknowledge how they are not the same people from seven years ago and need to get to know each other again.

What I really love about this series is how authentic the characters and their situations are. Annelisa has gone through things that have really affected her and caused her to do what she did. I enjoyed seeing her development throughout the book and how her ‘circle of friends’ are still there to support her.

While they were apart for many years, both Will and Annelisa never got over each other, and I love how we get both of their perspectives in this book, showing the depth of their feelings towards one another. This was a perfect end to the series, and I can’t wait to see what other books Allison has planned.

IMPORTANT: Please read Allison’s trigger warnings at the beginning of the book to make sure this book is appropriate for you.

This was the perfect end to a wonderful series. Annelisa and Will’s story has been hinted throughout the 3 other ‘Circle of Friends’ books and I knew their story would be heartbreakingly beautiful.

I could relate to Will and their group of friends trying to support someone with depression and not really knowing how best to do so. I could empathise with the feeling of hopelessness Annie felt and the idea that she didn’t deserve the love she was being showered in.

I was unsure about the flashbacks to Annie and Will’s relationship at first, but they were so important to be able to understand and resonate with Annie as a character.

I’m sad to say goodbye to this group of friends, but am excited to start reading the Calgary Mounties series when it’s released later this year!

A big thankyou to Allison A Andrews for letting me be on the street team to be one of the 1st readers of Pieces of Us. Greatly appreciated.

I enjoyed this book. The writing was amazing and story was wonderful.

This second chance romance was an emotional roller coaster as I felt what the 2 main characters were going through with tears, frustration and happiness, as each character's perspectives.

Please read the triggers before reading so you are prepared.

I did appreciate the life related themes and real-life experiences brought into the book and they were written in such a lovely way.

I loved all the author/writer related themes that were brought into the story. A nice touch.

Also, the friendship circle and the importance of friendship.

I highly recommend the circle of friends series and other reads by Allison.
A wonderful author.

I think a lot of people are going to absolutely DEVOUR this book and be so happy with this ending of this series!! Objectively, it's very well done! I'm just personally not a huge fan of flash backs or second chance (which typically go hand in hand), so some of it was not for me. But I'm still happy I read it, I desperately wanted to know what exactly happened with Annelisa and Will (needed to confirm my suspicions). I was very happy with the whole camping trip part, my favourite part of the book, hands down! I just found the flashbacks, like most flashbacks for me, just took me out of the story too much, unfortunately. If you're a fan of second chance then RUN to get this books, you'll be obsessed!

IMPORTANT TW BUT IT IS A SPOILER

TW:
•miscarriage in a decent amount of detail
•possible inability to conceive

I AM THE NUMBER 1 FAN OF THIS SERIES AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL! 10 stars out of 5.

I was blessed once again, to be gifted a free copy of this book for an honest review.

The final book in this series did not disappoint. I am devo that it's over, but I feel sooooo satisfied about how it all ended. I feel this series just kept getting better, and I don't know how that is possible.

I've said this before but the way the men communicate is incredible, the female and male relationships are beautiful, the spicy scenes are spicy but not unbelievable (and are achievable!) and I feel like these people are my friends.

If u want a book set in Brisbane, with Aussie themes, super decent people, and sausages with salad for dinner, READ THIS SERIES! 📚 😋

I thought the last book ruined me, this one wouldn’t stand a chance. Allison said hold on, I’ve got this! I am not okay but in the best ways. This was the perfect story to end this series and once again well written. I want to cheer, you want to be emotional, you want to be angry and slip your hands through your device to shake someone.

If you’ve never read anything from Allison before, are you living under a rock? I cannot praise this series and this author enough! Thank you for bringing all the emotions to the party and making me want to have this friend’s group! They turn up for each other in all the best ways!

Another amazing book and a bittersweet conclusion to a series from Allison A Andrews.

I was waiting so impatiently for this book so I could finally know what happened between Will and Annelisa.

First of all Annelisa you’re a dumb b.i.t.c.h who needs therapy and I wanna fight you for doing my man Will like that. I will never forgive you for what you and and I don’t care if you were “young” you were like 25 your brains fully developed deal with your big girl feelings like the big girl you are.

Secondly, Will sweetie you’re doing great.

I did have to message the author and ask her what tiggy is. I’m from NSW and have never heard of it. Fun fact: it’s another name for tag.

I’ve been counting down since reading the Winning Ticket, Will, and Annelisa’s story — and it delivered! This was hands-down the most emotionally charged book in the series. Keep the tissues close… you’ll need them.

That said, I didn’t feel as deeply connected to the characters this time around. The miscommunication/lack of communication trope isn’t my favourite. It threw me off a bit, but the emotional payoff still hit hard.

Overall, I felt it was a great, heartfelt wrap-up to the series. Now I’m beyond excited to dive into the Mounties series next!

my favourite quote :

"For everyone who has ever felt the urge to run when things have become too much. I hope you have a support network like the one in this book to help shine a light in the darkness "

I love the series so much. They are all very addictive and love every characters. It was sad to see this series come to an end. I will be re reading this series again. This book was a emotional roller-coaster journey with the two main characters Will and Annelisa. But This one is my far favourite one in this series

FINALLY!! The book I needed to complete my favourite romance series to date.

This one was frustratingly perfect and I loved every damn page. Allison absolutely nailed it. I devoured it in under a day and didn’t want it to end.

Annelisa hit close to home for me in so many ways. It was painful, feel-good, and downright infuriating, all wrapped up in the most satisfying bow. And that ending? AHHHH. My cold, dead heart may have thawed a little.

I’m gutted to see Circle of Friends come to an end, but these characters are officially living rent-free in my head. Now, bring on the Mounties!

I loved this book! It was so good to see this story come full circle (heh), I've been waiting for Will and Annelisa's story ever since the first book in this series and it did not disappoint. I adore a good second chance romance and this one hits all the right spots down to the amazing chemistry between the two of them. I'm sad to see this series come to an end but I'm also excited to see what comes next in the spinoff.

I’m wow. That’s all I have to say. I’m at a loss for words. I have been highly anticipating Will and Annie’s story since book 1 and it’s finally here and it has blown me away. These 2 characters go through so much together and it is absolutely heartbreaking the way this went with them 7 years ago but the comeback makes it all worth it (not that running away is the answer. Ever) but this was perfect.

I'm so happy we finally got Will and Annelise's story!😍 I knew it was gonna be hard to read because there was no way there was a simple answer for what had happened. And I was right, but it was not a hard read. Andrews walks the reader through it in such an enjoyable way that the angst is bearable, making that HEA even sweeter. 💖

I don’t normally love second chance romance, but this was so beautifully written it is one of my favourite books. The characters are so real you feel like you could pick up your phone and give them a call. An emotional read, handled in the most respectful way. I am going to miss this circle of friends, but am very glad I always have the option to re-read and visit with them again.

Allison has done it again. The way she has finished off this series well done.

When you move home from London to house-sit while your mother travels, you never expected to fall back into the arms of someone you ran way from 7 years ago or to deal with your friends group the same way again.

For all of the emotional topics in this book, they have been dealt with, with care and understanding. Check trigger warnings just to take care of yourself.

Will and Annelisa's story has been a long time waiting. A lot has happened within the group since Annelisa fled. No one knows why, except for Will, kind of. Both high school sweethearts spend the next few years broken hearted and trying to move on, but you can't avoid your circle of friends forever.

Triggers:
- Mental Health
- Anxiety
- Fertility issues
- Parental death (off page - from previous book)

Tropes:
- Second chance
- Highschool sweethearts
- Fluffy companion
- Mental Health rep

This book had me in tears. Some aspects hit close to home. Seth and Kylie will be my favourite couple, Tara is me, but Will and Annelisa had the hardest battle. I'm glad we got the answers we wanted. Sometimes life throughs us through enormous hoops, but hopefully we come out on the other side eventually.

I received an ARC for this book and am voluntarily leaving a review

“I would have followed you anywhere, Annie.”

This was a bittersweet read for me knowing this is the last instalment of the Circle of Friends series.

Since I read The Winning Ticket last year, I have been eagerly waiting for Will and Annelisa’s story, and it didn’t disappoint as a conclusion to the series.

This book made me feel everything. I laughed, I swooned and yes, I cried (the best kind of free therapy).

I have adored all the men in this series, but I honestly think Will is my favourite. He is perfectly written and almost too good to be true. The chemistry between Will and Annelisa was electric and lit up this second chance romance - it was so🔥

There were a few themes that could be triggering to others so make sure to check warnings if needed and look after your mental health. Allison always takes great care with heavy themes so I felt comfortable going in blind to not spoil the story.

If you haven’t read the Circle of Friends series yet, what are you waiting for? Go get it!

Thank you @allisonaandrews for providing me with an ARC, I feel incredibly blessed to have found you and this series. I can’t wait to read the next one!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Circle of Friends fourth and final instalment!

I'm 100% not ready to let these characters go! From book one I have loved this group of friends and followed their various adventures and lessons through life and their love stories ....

But, THIS was the story I was waiting for. This was the secret that kept nagging at the back of my mind, especially after book three where Annelsa hinted at so much depth to the truth.

Will was left behind, his world shattered while Annellisa jetted off to her new life - but she took more than a suitcase worth of baggage.

Now, she is back, and its finally time to face their past and all the pain that comes with facing down years worth of regrets.

Honestly, i have cried a LOT in this series. I resonated SO MUCH with so many of these characters and their personal challenges - but this book? This book rocked my heart with its brutal authenticity. I felt everything will and Anellissa felt. ALL OF IT.

If you haven't read this series, what are you actually doing?? GO READ IT. You deserve to feel the whole spectrum of emotions Alison A Andrews delivers in this incredible series.

tropes:
Second chance romance, Australian story, contemporary romance, HEA, found family, homecoming, healing, family re connection, secrets,
