Pain, be it physical or mental, isn’t a weakness. It’s a strength. It means you care about something so deeply that you’re willing to hurt for it.
After an exhausting hospital visit and choosing to press charges against her abusive ex-boyfriend, Abby focuses on settling into a new normal with Dallas. Things are looking up as she starts mending old relationships and gets nominated for a literary award. Still, she’s waiting for the other shoe to drop. Because it always drops. She thinks she’s been through the worst of it, but when the legal process begins, it proves more difficult than anticipated. As the stress builds and more piles onto her plate, new secrets emerge that she never saw coming. Dallas is doing everything he can to take care of Abby after she returns home. As the baseball tournament moves forward, he still needs to nail down a career choice despite not knowing what the future holds. He doesn’t want to ruin the peace she’s finally found amid the chaos. But he has no choice. The case against Abby’s ex starts on shaky ground while his family dynamics continue to fall apart. And when secrets he’s successfully kept hidden surface, he’s worried night might have ruined everything he’s built with Abby.
When Dallas’s secrets collide with Abby’s past, will the impact end their story before it’s rewritten?
⭐Absolutely loved this and what a beautiful duet this was. Abby experiences so much growth and healing in "Love Rewritten" and Dallas is incredibly supportive in her journey. Dallas also experiences some development of his own while navigating difficult family dynamics and past trauma. This book is hard to read at times because of the trauma that both Abby and Dallas have gone through, but it was so worth the read and so satisfying in the end. I also adore the side characters, specifically Logan and Meredith! This story reminds me how important it is to surround yourself with caring and supportive people, and that those people outshine the cruel ones. I I really loved this duet and I am so excited to read Jess Turner's future books. Thank you so much for Jess for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
ARC READER REVIEW: OMG what a PERFECT wrap up to this duet! At some points I was on the edge of my seat, some times I was laughing so hard I woke my dogs up and they had to move to go back to sleep, and there were many time I was kicking my feet because Dallas and Abby are so adorable. This truly was an amazing read. Not only do you root for Abby and Dallas but I absolutely LOVED the friendship arcs! ❤️ 10/10. Such a wonderful story about love, friendships, and perseverance! Note: I did receive a free copy of the book for an honest review
I am here yet again to tell everyone to read Jess's books. If the high rating and my constant yelling at everyone I know to read them doesn't do it for you then embrace the knowledge that I was lying in bed late at night reading a court room scene, historically scenes I do not enjoy, freaking out with a heart rate so high my watch yelled at me to calm down.
Thank you to the author for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
“Sometimes it’s impossible to hold all the pieces by yourself. And sometimes someone else has the missing piece.” I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of book 2 following book 1. And honestly, the worst part of this book…is definitely that it’s over! I want and need more! There was a lot of character development in the first book, but this one was so deliberately crafted and it’s truly a wonderful work of art!
Dallas’s character is so supportive, present, and healing even though he is also struggling and we see more of his “demons” in this part of the story. While Abby’s character continues to find herself, learns how to play into her strength, and is so courageous throughout both book - which is not the depiction we tend to get of DV survivors. Okay, and I can’t even find words to talk about Logan’s growth from book one?! He shocked me so many times in the best way possible! 💜
This book was so emotional, powerful, and healing in so many ways. There were so many quotes/statements that felt very personal and it was truly beautiful to read! My favorite quote of the whole book was: “There is no shame in how you exist. You simply exist in this space the way you do. And I love the way you exist.” 💜😭
Another beautifully written and emotional piece by Turner.
The final book in the duology is just as heavy as the first. Turner explores the lives of Abby and Dallas, and their friends, in such a brutally honest way. We see the aftermath of a family going through divorce and the effects of relapse. The mental trauma and emotional mayhem a survivor of abuse (mental and physical) goes through while trying to find peace in the fear and unknown, and seeing first hand how it affects those around her.
Turner dives into the lives of the side characters in this book which I really enjoyed. She captures the different tribulations of their burdens while layering it into the story very well.
She has done a great job showing the fear and doubt that such an awful relationship breeds. Abuse is more than just a physical battle, it's a mental and emotional one too, learning how to train the brain and body after living in a state of flight for so long. She captures this truth with ease, and again, never romanticizes the abuse.
The ending was realistic, which I appreciated, and overall another great read.
I will be keeping an eye out for Turner's future books. If you're looking for a book filled with romance and life without the sugarcoating, this book is for you.
Jess has done it again! Absolutely devoured this book. I could not put this book down, I needed to know what was happening next. Again, another roller coaster of emotions! I didn't want this story to end, I'm going to miss Abby and Dallas!
I finally bought and finished reading over the winter storm. I must say I am sooo glad for the closure, and knowing how it played out. The story plot is beautifully laid out, and I am left wanting to hear more of the other characters in their own stories perhaps in the future!!
Ialmost cried a few times, and laughed quite a bit throughout the book. This gets you right in the feels. 5/5!!
Can’t believe this duet is already over !! I hope there is a spin off series with the side characters !! I enjoys this slow burn into a crescendo ending that had me staying up way too late to finish !! I felt every emotion and wanted to throw my kindle a couple of times !! Can’t wait to see what Jess Turner puts out next !!
Note : arc reader … I got a free copy of this book for an honest review of the book.
