A spicy teammate’s sister, second chance hockey romcom.
If there’s one thing Logan Cullen is good at, it’s hockey. With an ex-NHL player with impossibly high standards as a father, there was never any other option. If there’s another thing Logan Cullen is good at, it’s hiding the truth. But when the shine of being one of the best in the league starts to fade, the dull brings out the scars he’s learned to hide so well. There’s only so much fame, women, and money can blur before he’s left wondering how much longer he can keep up the facade. That is until he meets the one person who’s off limits.
After spending a night with his teammate’s little sister, Logan feels like maybe there’s more to all this than just hockey. But then, as it always does, fate plays a cruel hand and he unwittingly manages to screw everything up.
Millie Shaw is definitely not going back to Texas. When her friends had posters of Harry Styles and Justin Bieber on their walls, she had pictures of the Empire State Building and The Statue of Liberty. New York has always been her dream. Graduating early, Millie’s lucky to clinch an internship on Wall Street, and she joins her brother, New York Thunder Goalie, Dallas Shaw, to live out her dream in the city. But moving to New York comes the real possibility of coming face to face with the one person who broke her heart.
When things don’t work out living with her brother and his soon-to-be wife, Millie finds herself with no choice but to begrudgingly accept an offer to move in with the one man she’s desperate to hate. But there are rules: No men. No women. And absolutely no accidentally walking around naked.
Will being forced together be enough to break them forever, or will it become their Best Kept Secret?

🍫 like to one sided hate to love 🏒 brothers’ teammate 🍫 secret relationship 🏒 they are roommates 🍫 mental health rep 🏒 MMC with daddy issues 🍫 she helps him through panic attacks 🏒boy obsessed 🍫 New York setting
Best kept a secret was enjoyable sweet hockey romance . I loved the mental health representation especially that is related to the MMC it’s not often that we see it with a male character. I loved the scenes where the MMC was with his parents. I would have loved if we got more scenes with him and his mother and I would have also loved to see more scenes of his father redeeming himself self tbh I felt this part was really rushed . My main problem with the book is that I felt like many parts could have been written with more depth which would have made me more connected to the characters like The relationship between the main characters ; I loved how they supported each other and how the MMC was very obsessed with her but again their relationship felt rushed like I felt their relationship was more lust than love but again it was enjoyable enough .

So their relationship is supposed to be a secret and he is obsessed !! Thank you author shann McPherson for sending me the e-ARC .
Some loves are worth breaking all the rules for-and Logan and Millie prove it.
Their story is a romance born from what was left unsaid, starting with a misunderstanding that leaves her wary while he's determined to break through her walls.
Millie, determined to step out of her brother’s shadow, grows stronger with each challenge, while Logan’s unwavering support shows just how deeply he values her. He proves his devotion with patience and respect, never pushing her but always making his care unmistakably clear.
Their close-proximity banter adds a fresh spark to the lovers-to-dislike-to-lovers trope. With respect, care, and finally honest communication, Logan and Millie's romance isn't just swoony—it's the kind of story that lingers in your heart long after the last page.

“You’re my home, Red.”
Thank you so much to Shann for the ARC for my honest review! I've been chomping at the bit to read this book because this series is one of my favs! Millie might be my favorite FMC of this series. I loved her sassy yet sweetness. The girl group really shined in this book. I love a supportive girlfriends group! My heart actually broke for Logan and all the struggles that he had been put through. I'm so glad that he was able to face his demons in the end. I loved how real and raw Millie and Logan's relationship was! Like most relationship, they have their ups and downs, but in the end love conquers all. I can't wait for the next book in the series. We get a little sneak peek at the end and it's exactly who I was hoping for throughout the book! This series is a must read! If you haven't already started it. I recommend them all! 🫶
Logan and Millie were a sweet perfection. I loved getting to see their relationship grow from the little tidbits we got in One Night Only into this full blown incredible work of art in Best Kept Secret.
The way Millie took care of Logan. Oof. Right in the feels. I love them. Forever & always
Thank you Shann for the ARC! So this story starts with Logan and miller ! Logan is a hockey player and miller is the younger sister of Logan’s team mate 🌟Dallas 🌟 who said she’s off limits
Ugh !!! The miscommunication 😭 I wish he would of just told her. It would of avoided this but ya know the yearning is the best part 👌
The face mask part 😭😆 so funny lol
Levi’s story broke my heart 😭 Greif is heavy.
Hahahahha the party. 2 can play that game girl 😆 she may have let her match with Logan for sure !
Finally !!! F I N A L L Y !!!! The waiting is over 🤌 and it was magical lol the hickey 😭😆
Caroline can kick rocks for all I care 😆but I lived the development of the girls friendships. It’s so hard in real life to make real friends and keep them at that. I love it !
The relationship of Logan and his dad. Bawled. Straight bawled. I loved this book so much Shann. You are such a talented writer 🤍 can’t wait for happy because that little blurb 👌👌
Best Kept Secret is book #3 in the The New York Thunder hockey series.
Logan and Millie together are chef's kiss.
Logan Cullen plays for the New York Thunder. Life growing up for Logan was not easy as his dad was overbearing, preferred one son over another and cruel. It got worse after the loss of his older brother when he was 18 and his mother was moved to a care facility due to mental illness. Logan himself has panic attacks that he keeps secret.
Logan finds his "found family" in his teammates and later Millie Shaw.
Millie Shaw grew up in Texas with her two older brothers. One of those brothers, Dallas Shaw, is Logan's teammate. Her brothers were always over protective and scared off any potential suitors. Once starting a rumor that she collected her ear wax in a jar when she turned 16 and then threatening to blow off the kneecaps of her prom date. This also plays into why Millie is still a virgin at 22.
Millie's always had her sights on moving to NYC, her brother Dallas just got there first. She's ready to make a mark on her own.
Millie first meets Logan when her brother ditches her at a bar in Detroit and asks Logan to make certain she gets home safely. Making certain to remind Logan that his sister is "off-limits". There's an immediate spark between Logan & Millie that neither want to deny. This is where the secret relationship starts to build. The relationship hits a brief snag with a miscommunication.
Logan is head over heels, obsessed with Millie. He's not giving up on her. Millie = MINE.
Once Millie moves to NYC to start her internship, she finds that living with her brother and his fiancee is not ideal. Dallas agrees. Logan just happens to have a extra bedroom. They initially set boundaries with Logan making it known that he's not giving up. Those boundaries are quickly shattered.
This book has heart, love, drama, lots of spice and it's hilarious. I felt all the emotions reading this book. I highly recommend.
No 3rd act breakup
Thank you to Shann McPherson and The Smuthood for the opportunity to read an advanced reader copy and discover a "new to me author". I've already purchased the the first 2 books in the series and pre-ordered book 4.
Best Kept Secret continues the New York Thunder series with everything I’ve expected from Shann: laughs, spice, some drama, and a whole lot of heart.
Millie moves to the city to follow her dreams, and ends up having to live with her brother’s best friend—who also happens to be the man who broke her heart. But did he really do so in the way she thinks…
Logan is thrilled when he learns Millie has moved to the city and is determined to win her back. But how will his best friend feel…
Shann does an amazing job in writing Logan’s mental health challenges, and the way Millie is there for him is beautiful. While there is some miscommunication, it’s resolved quickly enough that it adds to the story rather than detracts. I loved seeing the previous couples and can’t wait for what’s coming next.
This book had me hooked from page one and completely wrecked me in the best way. Logan? Absolute perfection. He’s the kind of man every romance reader dreams about—patient, respectful, and sexy as hell. The way he waited for her, making sure her first time wasn’t just good but unforgettable, gave me butterflies. He never once betrayed his teammate’s trust, even when the tension was off the charts. Instead, he stood firm, proving his love through actions, not empty words.
And let’s talk about the heat between them—slow burn turned blazing fire. 🔥 The forbidden, off-limits tension made every stolen glance and touch electric. He fought against her past scars, showing her what real love feels like, while she was the one steady enough to hold him together when his own team didn’t see his cracks. They were magic.
The only part that shattered me was everything with his brother—I swear, my heart is still in pieces. But that just made me love Logan even more, seeing how deeply he feels.
If you’re into brother’s-best-friend/teammate’s-sister tropes, hockey players who are swoony and solid, and chemistry that will make you kick your feet, this is an instant must-read. I’m obsessed and cannot wait for the next story!
Yet another incredible New York Thunder book from Shann McPherson!! This was such a good book, and I devoured it in a day!! Millie was so sweet while still being strong and protecting her own heart and sanity! Watching her navigate her new job on top of a new city and a new roommate was so heartening! I loved getting to watch her accept the truths as they were given to her, and accept what she wanted for her life! And Logan was absolutely swoon-worthy!! I loved how he worked on his emotions, and was able to acknowledge when he didn't have them under control! His strength and dedication to his family and his loved ones was absolutely incredible to see! It was also a very real and raw journey to watch him learn to accept the help in his anxiety attacks, and slowly open up to his close friends about his mental health! These two were so sweet together, and I just loved getting to watch their journey to finding each other! Plus we got so much of the Thunder guys and their ladies, which made the whole story so much fun! Overall this was amazing, and may fight Famous Last Words as my favorite in this series! Absolutely cannot wait for Happy and Hannah's book!! 5 stars; 3.75 chili peppers
Tropes: - Roommates - Brother's Teammate - Secret Relationship - Mental Health Rep - Second Chance - Hockey Romance
Shann’s books in this series seriously suck you in and won’t let you out till the very end! Logan and Millie were so cute, I absolutely loved their story. A spicy teammate’s sister, second chance hockey romcom. Logan, what an MMC - I loved him from the very first sentence in the prologue. Their first meeting in the club (forgot what a manwhore Dallas used to be) to their misunderstanding you couldn’t help but need to know what happens next between them. Millie, oh sweet and innocent Millie, Dallas’ little sister and has dreams of living and working in New York, but living with Dallas and Emily is not what Millie was expecting (awkward) and ends up moving in with Logan where they are forced to be surrounded by each other. This book was so good and I cannot wait for the last book of the series Thank you so much to Shann and the team at Smuthood for this eARC in exchange for my honest review
Oh the mutual pining these two had was crazy, but the pay off was all so worth it! A delicious teammates sister rom com with banter, drama great spice and all that you can expect from this great hockey romance series!
My girl Shann does it again. I am a Dallas Shaw fan for life but boy did Logan fight his way to try and take his spot. This book was incredible. It is a book full of banter, tension, humor, spice and emotion. Literally everything you want in a book. It will stick with you for long after you've finished reading.
Logan and Millie we destined to be together. From the moment they meet, Logan is down bad for her. Their relationship felt so genuine and real. They each have their own struggles but help each other be the best versions of themselves. Love always shows up and they prove that by showing up for each other.
The girl friend group in this series will warm your heart and the hockey group will have you swooning. What more could you want?
completed ARC read: Third book in the series completes a hat trick of 5 star reads!
I am in love with this series from Shann and obsessed with how she writes a former playboy mmc who falls fast and hard. It's like watching the guy's brain just completely break and rewire itself when he meets the fmc.
Book #3 is a brother's teammate romance between Millie Shaw (younger sister of star goalie, Dallas Shaw, from book #2) and Logan Cullen. Millie is a super sweet, recent college grad who wears her heart on her sleeve. I really liked her growth over the book; she gained confidence and started standing up for herself more. Logan is the perfect opposite for her--where she's quiet and reserved, he's loud and fun. He's known as one of the biggest playboys on the New York Thunder team but that doesn't stop him from falling head over heels (or head over skates lol) for Millie the moment he meets her.
Shann nailed the early miscommunication between the two--it gave us all the yearning without relying on a third act breakup. & honestly, I'll take first act tension over third act drama every day of the week!!! It left so much room for Millie and Logan to shine as a couple and show their growing love on page. While I was yelling at Logan to just tell Millie what was really going on, I also loved how loyal he is to his friends. & When Millie realized her assumptions were wrong, she owned up to it and let down the walls that she had between her heart and Logan.
Some of my favorite things in this hockey romance were: Logan being a consent king and dirty talking champ, the way he was all about Millie's pleasure, the sweet acts of love mixed with fun banter, forced proximity yearning, toys are friends, sweet Millie having a hidden dirty side, and Millie being Logan's safe space with his mental health struggles.
Overall: I highly recommend this hockey romance series. & if you read and love, please come yap in my DMs on insta!! (bookishvista)
------------ beta read: Will come back with fully formed thoughts for review once I’m done with my emotional spiral over how much I loved this book ❤️ But definitely a must read -- the whole series is!
Tropes: - hockey player - former playboy - virgin fmc - miscommunication (first act) - brother's teammate - forced proximity - he falls harder - mental health rep - panic attacks - secret relationship - sweet fmc
Unfortunately, this book just wasn’t for me. The writing felt very juvenile, and the humor didn’t land at all. The miscommunication trope drove me up the wall—mostly because it made no sense.
I seriously think that this book is the best one in the series so far.
Millie and Logan were the perfect balance for each other.
If you have been with the series since the beginning, you have had the chance to meet both of the MCs in this novel, Logan throughout books 1 and 2 and Millie in book 2, as she is Dallas Shaw's sister. While this book can be read as a complete standalone, I think you get a better picture of these two if you read Famous Last Words and One Night Only.
Logan, the hotshot hockey star who plays alongside Millie's brother, has a lot more to him than he is willing to let his teammates see; he is dealing with grief and an overbearing father who has done nothing but negatively impact Logan. Logan is not one for sharing; in fact, none of his teammates know him on a deeper level, but all of that changes when he meets Millie.
Millie, Strong-willed Texan, has moved to NYC, to fulfill a long-standing dream and to also prove that she is more than capable of making it on her own. She soon finds out that the reality of her dream is much harsher than she had planned for. With the support of Logan, she learns how to navigate her way on her terms.
The development of these two was chef's kiss. a lot of what we get to read in this book made some of the scenes in One Night Only make a lot more sense. I loved that there was this overlap. The fact that these two got to know each other over the course of many months before they were roommates and then ultimately lovers was a great way to bring them together. I love when characters get to know each other before the romance starts; I think it builds a strong foundation and Logan and Millie have that.
While there is a bit of a miscommunication trope, which is cleared up rather quickly, I applaud Logan for not clearing the air just so he could be with Millie. Like he said, it wasn't his secret to share, and he didn't know matter how that affected his chances with Millie. I think this speaks volumes to the type of person he is.
The manner in which Shann handles Logan's mental health is done with compassion and thought. I think she definitely portrayed the effects as authentically as possible. I also really appreciate that the mental health issues weren't "a one and done," so to speak, but they were with Logan for the entire book, which I think is so important. Sometimes I feel like authors use mental health issues to move the plot, but then nothing—it is never mentioned again, or the character is magically cured, which could not be further from the truth. In my opinion, Shann does the mental health representation all the justice.
The banter is top-notch, not just between Millie and Logan but between Logan and the rest of the boys. I have never wanted to be part of a group chat so bad. The spice is spicy. Shann likes to tease us early, and then we hit a slow burn, but the buildupto it is top-notch.
Overall, I was sad to see their story end, but I am looking forward to seeing what's in store for Happy in the last book of the series.
Let me tell you…I absolutely ATE this book up! Plus, it always the ones with the sweet looking covers that surprise you the most!
If you love your sports romances with equal parts heat, tension, and forbidden chemistry, Best Kept Secret will check every single box.
Millie and Logan’s story is the perfect storm of attraction, secrecy, and complications. Millie knows she shouldn’t fall for him—after all, Logan is not only her new roommate but also her brother’s teammate. But resisting a hockey player with charm, determination, and just enough edge proves harder than she imagined. Add in the fact that they’re sneaking around, and the forbidden thrill only makes the sparks between them burn hotter.
The roommates-to-lovers setup is handled brilliantly, giving us all the cozy domestic moments alongside the constant temptation of shared space. The teammate’s sister trope adds an extra layer of stakes—keeping their relationship under wraps is part of the fun, especially as the chemistry between them grows impossible to hide.
There’s just enough of the miscommunication trope to tug at your heart, but not so much that it drags the story down. Instead, it keeps you rooting for Millie and Logan to finally stop holding back and admit how much they mean to each other. The spicy scenes are plentiful and well-placed, giving readers the payoff they crave while deepening the emotional connection.
In the end, Best Kept Secret is exactly what its title promises: a romance that thrives on secrecy, tension, and slow-building trust, before blossoming into something worth fighting for. Fans of hockey romance, forbidden love, and a little playful drama will devour this one.
⭐️: 5/5 🌶️: 5/5
Thank you to Shann and The Smuthood for an advanced copy! All opinions are honest and my own.
The New York Thunder Series is an amazing series , and this particular installment might be my favorite yet! A few years prior, Millie, Dallas’ sister, and Logan, Dallas’ teammate, met for the first time and felt an instant attraction. However, after a miscommunication, they went their separate ways. Fast forward a couple of years, and Millie moves to New York City and needs a place to stay. Logan offers his place, and the undeniable chemistry and tension between them are palpable, reminiscent of their past encounter.
What truly sets this book apart is the dynamic between Millie and Logan. They both possess raw and genuine personalities that captivate the reader’s imagination, making them hope for them to be together. Millie embodies sweetness, strength, and determination as she embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Her ability to find the courage to stand up for herself at work is empowering, and her pursuit of happiness is inspiring. Throughout the book, Millie undergoes remarkable growth, and her character development is nothing short of positive.
Logan, in my opinion, might be my favorite male main character in the series. He may not be the loudest or the center of attention, but he possesses an almost grounding and strong personality that draws readers in. Logan is meticulous in choosing his words, ensuring that each one carries significant weight. From the beginning, he demonstrates his protective and caring nature towards Millie, and I was delighted to witness his kindness and patience as he navigates the challenges they face together.
The entire book is a masterpiece, and I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the scenes of Millie and Logan’s love story. Their chemistry is electrifying, and even during the tough times, including dealing with difficult family members and anxiety, their unwavering desire for each other and their determination to strengthen their relationship shine through.
To top it all off, the book is filled with witty banter, steamy romance, and the presence of awesome friends. I can’t wait to delve deeper into the series and continue this captivating journey with Millie and Logan. Thank you for the ARC from the author for an honest review!
I’ve been a fan of Shann’s since Famous Last Words and this book did not disappoint! It was so good!
I loved Millie so much. She was intelligent and sweet, however she did have a sassy side. I thought it was great that she moved to New York to follow her dreams. I loved how she stood her ground and did what she felt was right for her. I felt like her reactions to certain situations were very realistic and relatable.
I really liked Logan. I enjoyed the fact that he realized he didn’t handle certain situations with Millie the best way. I love how he was very open with his feelings for her and how he was open about his past. He talked to her about his family’s past and I loved that she didn’t need to push for him to talk to her. His grief broke my heart.
I loved the support that these two had for each other. Millie was there for Logan when he struggled with his mental health and his family. Logan supported Millie when it came her her accomplishments and her job opportunities. Along with supporting one another, these two had great chemistry from the very beginning. While there is miscommunication between the two, I did love how their story played out.
Of course, we got more of Robbie, Fran, Dallas and Emily from the first two books in the series. I loved how Fran and Emily welcomed Millie into their girl group.
Overall, this was another book by Shann that I couldn’t put down! I would 100% recommend it, especially if you love a hockey, teammate’s sister, forced proximity, second chance romance. I cannot wait for the next book!
Thank you Shann McPherson for the ARC for an honest review!
This book was a beautiful, emotional masterpiece. I’m so in love with the storyline, the characters and the writing. This is a hockey romance but with emphasis on the romance and with angst that will leave you in tears. I love the brothers best friend trope, because unlike in best friends brother, the fmcs brother actually gets so pissed so it makes more sense that they have to be super secretive. The tension in this book was insane, even from the start (it really was my fault though cause I went in blind). That plot twist was shocking and this entire book was so captivating from start to finish, I couldn’t put it down. I loved the characters and each other's own complex stories. I love it when the characters have so much character on their own and even more chemistry when they’re together. I loved loved loved the mental health representation in this book, it was so real and it touched my soul. It’s a reminder that athletes and other celebrities have lots of stuff they’re going through too, and to not just bash them on their bad games sometimes. Logan is the legit definition of gentleman, he’s the sweetest and so attentive. And his hopeless pining is adorable. However his past is screwed up and he has a lot of baggage. Luckily Millie is there for him. Millie is a business girlie and I love that! We need more of that in books, and I just love how beautiful her relationship with Logan is. They’re amazing together and I give this a 5/5
“I hope they have dental insurance.” CUE ME SCREAMING AT THE TIPPITY TOPPITY OF MY LUNGS.
We love Emily. We love a woman who doesn’t play with misogyny.
The drama… Just *chefs kiss*
LOGAAAAAN!!!! The man that you are. I am genuinely obsessed. We love a man who stands on business and doesn’t play around. More than that, he has so much depth, so much so much so much. He’s so likable and relatable. Genuinely one of the best book boyfriends I’ve ever read.
And Millie? We love a bad bitch. We love a woman who knows her mind. Seeing how she evolves through the story as she becomes more sure of herself and takes her wants into her own hands is beautiful. Such an empowering character.
Really, though? All the characters are so nuanced and well established. They don’t feel cookie cutter, copy and paste, or like a knock off of every popular trope (nothing wrong with popular tropes, I’m just happy with a little change of scenery). Each character feels unique and you don’t find yourself going “wait… who?” As you’re reading because they’re all memorable in their own way.
I received Best Kept Secret as an ARC through Smuthood, didn’t really have any expectations going into it because I completely forgot I applied for it while I was pregnant and desperate for reading material. Holy hell, it blew me away. I’m so glad I applied for this ARC and even more glad I forgot about it while going through the whole labor and delivery process because it made it that much more fun getting swept up into it and falling in love with the story and characters organically. I will absolutely be reviewing the first two books in the series imminently.
🏒brother’s teammate ❤️second chance 🏒hockey romance ❤️forced proximity 🏒secret relationship ❤️like to dislike to love
I swear, each book I read of Shann McPherson’s just gets hotter and hotter! Best Kept Secret, the third book in The New York Thunder series can be read as a standalone and features Millie and Logan.
Most importantly I want to acknowledge the way Logan’s panic attacks and mental health were addressed in this book. As someone who suffers from anxiety, I’m always looking for books and authors who depict this illness accurately and sensitively and Shann does that and more. The panic attack scenes were done beautifully and with great care. I loved how Millie jumped right in to help and reassure Logan. Sometimes that’s all it takes, truly.
The chemistry between these two was so stinking hot! I loved how caring and sweet Logan was, but then turned absolutely feral for his girl. They are explosive together!
This series is so much fun to read, I absolutely cannot wait for the next book!
Thank you to Shann McPherson and The Smuthood for the ARC of this book.
Logan, was a male main character that was tired of being a playboy and listening to his Dad talk him down and I loved how possessive he was of Millie, his protectiveness was my favourite characteristic because it shows the characters can be strong and he defended her at times. I read the chemistry and it was very touching and interesting to read about. I always love a best friends little sister trope and I always love miscommunication.
Millie, was a female main character who was used to doing everything by herself and not allowed anyone to talk her down. There were times in relationship that was tricky between Logan, and Millie, but I was glad they got through it. This story left me with a book hangover and I will be reading the rest of the series and can’t wait to read the final story in the series that’s yet to come.
The plot was perfect and well put together and written. I loved this and the way how Logan, went after what he wants even if it was his best friend’s little sister it proved to me they could go through the battles to becoming a couple and getting their happily ever after. This was an emotional and very perfect read that was touching on the relationship between each other. I rated this story 5 stars because of the plot lines and how possessive and how Logan was obviously he was in love with Millie from the start.
I loved this book! I really love hockey romance when it encompasses the hockey, the story, and the spice—and Shann McPherson really brought that with this one.
The overall storyline was well-written, and although I personally hate a miscommunication trope, this one was done well.
Logan, the reformed playboy, is sick of the same old life of money and women, and trying to hide from his painful past—until he meets Millie, his teammate’s sister.
Millie is in her senior year of college and ready to take on her future. When her brother ditches her at a club, she gets stuck with Logan driving her home. Sparks instantly fly.
Until they don’t…
The chemistry between these two was so good—it was genuine, sweet, and I loved these characters.
⚠️ There are some heavy topics discussed, so please check TWs. However, I felt like they were handled with care and tact.
This was such a fun, sexy, and at some points emotional read—but so worth it, especially if you’re hockey-obsessed like me!
Huge thanks to Shann McPherson and The Smuthood for this early read 🫶🏻

If you love: 🤫 Brother's best friend 🏒 Hockey romance 🛏 Forced Proximity 💚 Mental health rep ✨️ Virgin FMC 👭 Kick-ass girl friends
I loved Logan and Millie’s story. There is a small miscommunication trope in the first act, but I didn't mind it. I thought it was woven into the story nicely and it just added to the fireworks once the miscommunication was in the rear view mirror.
Millie is sassy yet sweet, motivated to succeed and fiercely independent, but the way she cares for Logan melted my heart.
Logan is a former playboy who is looking for a meaningful connection and finds it in Millie (even though family members of hockey players are off-limits 🤫) He's loyal, protective and knows how to ignite the fire burning in Millie. Their chemistry is off the charts 💥
I loved this book so much that I bought the first two books in the New York Thunder series. If you love sports romance and a healthy dose of spice, you'll love Best Kept Secret!
Thank you to Shann McPherson and The Smuthood for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.
"I, Logan Cullen, am going to hell. Or jail. Either way, there'll be some fucking Netflix special made about me: My Roommate, The Creep. I hope they get that guy from The Bear to play me..." - Logan.
Low-key swoony and full of heart. Keeps me smiling without trying too hard 🩷
Logan is a fortress of composure, strong on the outside, built from pieces that were shattered long before anyone cared to notice. He smiles, he jokes, he plays the part but beneath it, there's a storm only he knows how to navigate 💔
And Millie... she's a force of her own, well... until he shows up, light a fire under her and she can't stop falling 🌹
She's off-limits. He is irresistible. Some rules... totally worth breaking 🥰
"How can one human be so fucking sexy? It's like he's doesn't even have to try; it's just a natural trait. A living, breathing, panty-wrecking machine." - Millie.
A 5☆ read. Just like Nutella on warm toast, he melts her from the inside out 😈🍫

What a wonderful emotional, sweet, and spicy read! This was my first Shann McPherson book and I'm absolutely sold...more, please and thank you!
Millie was a great and realistic FMC. She was shy, and inexperienced but also had so much spunky and sass. As a recent college graduate you could see her confidence grow from the start of the story to the end. While I generally don't enjoy the miscommunication trope I think it worked really well in this book because it occurs before a relationship has been fully established and Millie's previous romantic relationship caused her to have insecurities that influence her decisions.
I'm a total sucker for a broken boy MMC and Logan fit the bill perfectly. Family trauma (please check TW before reading) have caused Logan to have mental health struggles, but he keeps his struggles a secret until Millie comes along. With Millie's help Logan starts healing and finding peace, as well as being more open about his struggles with the people in his life. Millie and Logan both support and encourage each other so beautifully. There relationship felt so realistic and real and I loved seeing their growth as individuals and a couple. And when the spice hit...holy 🥵🥵!
"You're my all, my everything, my whole f*cking world, Red."
Definitely can't wait to read book 4 with Hannah and Happy!
