ESCAPING HER VILLAINOUS INLAWS
Francis ‘Franny’ Graham has been widowed for about two weeks now, heavy with child, and still in shock over the senseless death of her husband, Simon. While it wasn’t a marriage of love, they got along well. The one thing really tying them together was the anticipation of the birth of their baby. Knowing that Ian and Edith, her husband’s brother and sister-in-law, would be having her over for Sunday dinner, she goes over to ask if there is anything she can bring—only, instead, she overhears the most shocking conversation—how they intend to murder her and her unborn baby. She knows, she can’t delay, she must plan to escape within the next day or two.
“You can do this, Francis Graham. For the sake of your unborn child, you must.”
Adrian Hamilton is a bounty hunter and has located the fugitive, Travis Montrose. Only when he was ready to capture him, Travis pulled a gun to shoot Adrian, and he had to kill Travis. The downside was that Travis got off a shot that went wide, ricocheting and hitting Simon Graham, killing him instantly. Adrian collects the bounty, but feels he needs to give money to Simon’s widow.
The story takes place in the 1870s in Nevada. Adrain Hamilton goes to the Bar G ranch to see widow Francis Graham. What a shock when she asks for his help to get away from town and her in-laws. She quietly shares what she overheard, and while he doesn’t want to be involved, he can’t leave her either. It seems she is prepared, loading an older wagon, and they make plans to meet up. The plan is to get her to a town, then have him leave and go on his way.
The story and the characters were interesting. Greed is a powerful force that can lead people to do whatever they feel necessary to obtain what they want. It doesn’t take long after meeting Franny and her brother-in-law, Ian, for Adrian to believe her story and consent to helping her. How far is Ian willing to go to get the rest of the Graham ranch? Murder of a young woman and her unborn baby? Will Adrian and Franny find a way to escape Ian and his henchmen? Maybe the future has a new turn for Franny, her unborn baby, and Adrian.

They unexpectedly find happiness
Adrian and Franny are from very different worlds and her husband's death should put them on opposite sides and make them enemies. Thankfully Adrian is a man with morals and he agrees to help Franny. Their journey is hit with numerous difficulties but these help them form a bond through their adversities. That bond holds mutual respect, admiration and the spark of romance. A romance that could be so much more! I enjoyed joining Adrian and Franny on this journey, I read this book on Kindle Unlimited.

I loved this story! Margaret Tanner's books are always a delight to read. Frannie's husband Simon was tragically killed in a gunfight, leaving her alone and pregnant. But when she overhears her in-laws plotting to kill her for her land, she knows she must act fast. With the help of Adrian, Frannie devises a plan to escape and start anew. Along the way, they discover their feelings for each other!

Franny’s escape
Franny is a very pregnant widow and has found out her brother-in-law and his wife are plotting her demise. They want her part of the ranch.
Enter Franny’s savior, Adrian. She has no one else to turn to for help, and even though he is a gun for hire, she relies on him to get her to safety.
Very sweet epilogue.

Pregnant Western Widows book 1
I really enjoy this series, pregnant widows.
Franny overheard her inlaws talking about poisoning her and her unborn baby. Because they wanted her deceased husbands part of the ranch. Adrian a bounty hunter offered to help her escape which will affect both of their lives.

Fearful Franny is a short read, but a powerful story. Franny has just lost her husband and now she is running for her life and her unborn child. She needs to trust in someone and Adrian is the only one available. Time will tell if he can get her away to safety.
