Crazier Together: A Zombie Apocalypse

Rate this book
The Simmons family has been waiting for an apocalypse since before they can all remember. They have the weapons. They have the compound. They have the training. Most of all, they have each other and their rescue furbabies. Family is everything and they will fight harder than they’ve ever fought before to protect it. From Gumbie’s to asshole thieves attempting to take what they have. Yes, it’s a world they’ve been waiting for, but are they truly prepared to face what’s ahead?

Just when I think my life couldn’t get any crazier, my mom’s lifelong dream comes true. The zombie apocalypse is here. Through all the painstaking survival training during my 25 years of life on this home we call earth, I never thought that it would come to pass. Yet, here we are, fighting alongside our family against an entire world that’s seemingly out to get us. The zombies want our flesh and the humans want everything we have. How typical.

Yet, even through the destruction of humanity, happiness can still be found. For me, it was her. I was hers the moment I saw those hypnotic eyes. It was rocky at first, but it was like an unstoppable wave destined to make land. She’s perfect in every sense of the word. Don’t take my word for it, just ask my own mother who loves her more than the children she actually birthed. It’s wonderful and crazy, but that’s just us, isn’t it? We wouldn’t want it any other way.

I hated her even though I had no idea who she was. It didn’t matter because I was jealous, but… things changed so quickly once she saved my life and I finally saw her for who she was. Caring. Loving. Magnificent! The most beautiful person I’ve ever met in my entire life. I haven’t had very much joy in my 27 years but when I’m with her, I don’t care anymore. Even in a world riddled with the walking dead, I can say for absolute certainty that I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. In fact, the zombies aren’t a problem for me at all. It’s actually fun and this new world is surprisingly freeing. The only regret I have is not opening my eyes sooner because maybe I would’ve found my family before all of this craziness. Then again, something so simple is very rarely on the cards for any of us, so we must embrace this new world and make sure that we fight for what’s most important. Family, love, and a little bit of chaotic fun.

Hi, I’m L. J. Powell, and I love crafting dark, adventurous stories with a Sapphic twist. My books explore love, resilience, and defiance, all set in worlds of fantasy, horror, and romance. I’m drawn to writing fierce, passionate heroines who face impossible odds and find unbreakable bonds along the way. When I’m not writing, my wife and I dedicate our time to rescuing animals. As avid rescuers, we’ve opened our home to countless foster animals, and they bring as much chaos as they do joy. It’s this same passion and devotion that I pour into every story I write. Join me as I bring bold characters and unforgettable worlds to life, one story at a time.
