Rate this book
An age of industry and magic has created unprecedented opportunities for technological progress. Trains powered by alchemical fuel have made the world smaller than ever, and firearms that burn magical powder have made it more deadly. But as greedy industrialists and power-hungry mages battle for control of the future, a conspiracy threatens to shatter the tentative peace between the continent's great powers.

The only man who can expose it is Nathaniel Zane, a soldier-turned-thief who wields dangerous and illegal magic. With the aid of a beautiful con artist and a brilliant half-demon mechanic, he sets off on a daring heist to stop a shipment of weapons before they can plunge the world into another devastating war.

Spellfire Thief (112,000 words) is a magitek harem fantasy inspired by the world’s oldest role-playing game.

About the author

Sarah Hawke

Sarah Hawke is a prolific writer of science fiction and fantasy in multiple genres, including erotica, harem, and bondage. Her books are known for their intricate world-building, twisting plots, and fleshed-out characters—and of course their many intense, steamy sex scenes.

If you are interested in "pure" traditional harem stories, The Lost Fleet is the perfect place to start! Wings of the Seraph is a shorter, older series but also hits most of the traditional harem notes. Shadow of the Seraph features a rotating male and female pov with some F-F scenes involving temporary futanari, so avoid that unless it is your jam!

Her fantasy universe features many types of erotica stories involving bondage (Elf Slave, all the Spider Queen books) and non-traditional harems (The Amazon's Pledge, The Amazon's Vengeance). She also has two ongoing fantasy erotica series with intense action and multiple points of view, War of the White Throne and The Blade of Highwind.

I've enjoyed most of this author's books, but this one was below average for them. I never really felt much for the MC or the harem members.

The MC is a former soldier turned thief, who happens to have magical capabilities known as Spellfire. He's taken a job to rob the president of his country in an effort to humiliate him. On that job, he finds documentation about weapons being shipped that shouldn't be. Once the job is done, he's robbed of that documentation, and thus begins his adventures.

The harem is two women. One is the one that robbed him of the documentation. The other is a former lover of the MC's that still cares for him. There will at least be a third, another former lover of his that we haven't met yet. They are just ok. They aren't fleshed out as much as you would think.

I honestly don't know if I will read a sequel to this.

Thought this was one of Sarah Hawke's weaker first books, and I tend to like most of what she writes (I did like this one too). Just didn't feel very fresh or focused for lack of a better word.

Note:
- 1 star = I disliked it
- 2 star = It was okay
- 3 star = I liked it
- 4 star = I really liked it
- 5 star = It was a favorite

Good start to a new series, set in the distant past of the Dread Knight series. The MC is a fun character with an interesting skillset, and the harem elements are still pretty light at this point. Looking forward to the next one.

This was way on the nose

You could see the ending from a mile away, but besides this, it was very well done. Excellent writing decent characters and good story. I will grab the next one without a doubt

This didn’t really work for me. The characters were a bit too abrasive and selfish.

I can't stand when a decent book add "Scooby-Doo monologuing" why on Earth does the hero have to explain the villains plot to the villain
