Donavan Matthews had one opportunity to show his best friend that maybe they could be more than friends.
Ivory Jones was battling more than just a messy breakup with her ex-girlfriend when she realized that the platonic feelings for her best friend had started to spiral into something more.
Can these two try something new, or are the risks too high?
4/5 ⭐️ — This was the perfect depiction of best friends-to-lovers. I loved how we get to see the deep roots of their decade long friendship. Donovan, professional golfer, has been in love with Ivory since high school, but very patient when it comes to the matter of the heart. Ivory, wedding planner, was left at the alter by her ex-girlfriend and seeks shelter from her best friend. — Navigating the effects of a failed relationship leads Ivory to checking off The Friends 2 Lovers bucket list with Donovan. — great chemistry, cute and spicy.
ARC Review…I absolutely loved Graycen in Maybe I Need You. And I feel deeper for Donavan in Maybe I Love You. It’s something about those Matthews boys. I’m so ready for the 3rd
Ivory was so in love with Acacia. But the way she played her baby I was ready to jump through the screen and fight her. But Donavan came in and saved the day. The true genuine love this man has for Ivory is unmatched. He knew her better than she knew herself. He realized what she needed and gave her that and so much more. Plus making a living as a professional golfer 🏌🏽♂️⛳️
Maybe I Love You by Briyanna Michelle missed the mark entirely for me. I had no investment in the characters and, despite his beautiful language, vulnerability, and wealth, there was something about Donavan that just didn't make him swoon worthy to me. And I wasn't really buying Ivory's attraction to Donavan either. I appreciate the LGBT+ representation and the discussion around the FMC Ivory's sexuality, but it all felt so rushed and I didn't finish the book with a broader understanding of the character. I also didn't like the Acacia-Vera connection/storyline. If the book were just a tad longer with more developed characters and some tension and angst (you have a MMC who has been pining for his best friend for years, you have an FMC who has been left at the altar, you have a FMC who has been denied by her father because of his homophobia), I would've appreciated the story a lot more. Unfortunately, I don't recommend Maybe I Love You, but book 1 of the Undeniably In Love series is decent.
"This is me protecting my heart, Ivory; you could never be anyone other than my best friend." —That line broke me, but in the best way possible.
Briyanna Michelle delivers a heartwarming, deeply emotional friends-to-lovers romance in Maybe I Love You: Undeniably in Love. The story follows Donavann Matthews and Ivory Jones, two best friends navigating the delicate shift from friendship to something more. With Ivory still reeling from a devastating betrayal—being left at the altar by her ex-girlfriend, Vera—Donavann patiently stands by her side, proving that love doesn’t have to be rushed, but it does have to be unwavering.
What truly makes this novel shine is the dynamic between Donavann and Ivory. His unwavering support and the way he reassures her, especially in light of her past heartbreak and identity, is nothing short of beautiful. He creates a safe space for her, never pressuring, always understanding—a refreshing portrayal of a love that is both patient and pure. Their chemistry is undeniable, and their transition from best friends to something deeper feels like the perfect melody to a love song you never want to end.
The emotional weight of Ivory’s past relationship with Vera adds depth to the story. The revelation that Vera was a con artist made my blood boil—jail is too good for her! The pain Ivory went through made me root even harder for her happiness, and Donavann was that person for her. His devotion never wavered, proving that sometimes, the love you’ve been searching for has been right beside you all along.
Donny and Ivy’s journey is filled with tender moments, genuine care, and a love that feels organic and meant to be. Hands down, this is a 10/10 read—one that makes you believe in the power of love and friendship intertwining.

thanks to Briyanna for this ARC read this is a friends to lovers romance and I enjoyed it. Donovan is such a good friend from the very first page. This story follows MMC and pro golfer Donovan Matthews, who has been in love with his best friend since high school, only problem is the FMC is getting married to her fiance, and did I mention she is getting married to a woman?
something happens and the FMC Ivory world comes crashing down and who is there to help her pick up the pieces? her best friend Donovan. The way Donovan took Ivory in, spoke life into her, made sure she was well taken care, she starts to look at him through fresh eyes and for the first time in their friendship she is seeing him more than just her best friend. She is trying to navigate this new attraction, feelings, what this means for her sexuality, while also trying not to ruin their friendship.
Ivory decided to make a list of things to do while they figure out what is going on between them, while Donovan also added a few things to the list, because after all he was on a mission to wine and dine her and show her that they can be more than friends.
I really enjoyed this story, the book was well written, very quick read, the plot twist I didn't expect, and the ending was so cute.
Their story unfolds with a gentle grace, showcasing the deep roots of their friendship. We see Ivory navigate the turbulent waters of a failed relationship. Ivory, a wedding planner, and Donovan, a professional Golfer. The novel's true beauty lies in Donovan's patience and love for Ivory. He doesn't rush instead, he allows their friendship to evolve naturally, demonstrating a deep understanding of Ivory's needs and insecurities. He patiently waits for her to recognize the depth of his feelings. Briyanna Michelle masterfully weaves together the threads of their past and present, creating a rich tapestry of shared memories and emotions. And the unwavering commitment that defines their relationship. Maybe I love you is a quick captivating read, a love story that resonates with authenticity and emotional depth.
