(A Review from a Mommy, Daddy, and a 1 year old)

This book was okay. Dad thought it seemed silly that the dad in the book was in the navy and was familiar with fishing, yet still got sea sick....The idea of using boat terms was unique but we aren't really boat-type people so it was a bit boring of a read.

This was a very lovely kind of 'coming of age' 'Father son day' book. The illustrations was just as nice as the story itself. A dad takes his son fishing; the dad asks some other men to help put the boat in the river. The boy tells his Dad that he was big enough to help; Dad says 'when you get your Sea Legs' you can help. The Dad used to be in the service so he knew all about boats and being on the water. BUT Dad starts getting seasick and the boy steps up and fishes and catches a huge fish, he walks on the boat without tipping it, and he drives the boat as well. In the end he is proud of himself and his Dad is too.

This story of a father and son fishing trip was funny and heartwarming. Funny because the father was more inept than the son though it was the son's first real fishing trip, and heartwarming because both the father and the son bonded over the experience.

A good father-son yarn where the son proves himself and the father learns to let go...a lot of adventure packed in an afternoon of fishing.
