I'm newly single and a star player on the ice. But none of that matters as much as taking the best care of my daughter that I possibly can. That's why I can't trust just any nanny. And after what my ex-wife pulled, I'm not interested in another relationship. Especially not one that seems too good to be true.
Sam
I love kids, which is why working as a nanny over the summer seems like the perfect way to help make ends meet. Never mind the fact that my client is rich. And gorgeous. And the best dad I've ever met. It's just a job--one that I desperately need. I can't mess this up, no matter how tempted I am.

I chose this thinking there would be more hockey. I listened to the audiobook on YouTube and it seems that there is stuff cut out. The romance is sudden and random then suddenly she’s with someone else and the end just threw me.
This should have been a full novel. There isn’t enough build up to make Derek and Sam’s relationship plausible. There were so many opportunities to make the insta-love angle be a little more believable, but for the story to jump from Derek escorting her out of the house in one scene to basically being in love with her the next???? There is SO MUCH missing. So much potential. This feels like the outline of a book, or like the middle of the book was never planned and Laura said “eh, good enough.”
Second audio, same author, and again way too quick. Felt like it was missing parts of the story. Sam is a.K.teacher looking for a pt summer job. She applies for a nanny. Within 24 hours of her applying, she is called for an interview and then given the job. Derek, dad, and hockey player comes in very gruff, saying he doesn't want a stranger around his kid. Sam says "oh your assistant hired me." He sends her away, but then bam, she is back again, and it's her first day. They are in the kitchen already feeling an attraction. We never see any conversation or banter to get to know these characters. It just speeds along from there. There is also some conflict with the ex-wife and mother and some teasing from other WAGs at the hockey game about Sam's weight. But it's kind of just brushed off and then the end. Also, the epilogue is told by Trevor and how he wants what Sam and Derek have. Who's Trevor, you ask....read the Long Shot also by Laura Asher.
Always love me a instalove romance from this author. I love the single dad and nanny romance. I love when the the child falls for the nanny just as much as the father and it was well written. I love how we had a plot where the child's mom was the antagonist and not to mention her little minions. I wanted to jump in and defend Sam so much. But she had a bestie that took her mind off of that and focused on the only reason and that was Derek.
Overall I loved this book and rate it a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. It was a great book and not to mention it was a hockey romance. I'm a hockey girlie and wish I could go to a hockey game, I love vicariously through these pages.
Oh and did I mention this was an audiobook? It's FREE on YouTube, it was such a random find for me and I'm so happy I found it and plus her other books. Check them out. ❤️❤️❤️

The idea of the plot is okay but it read extremely rushed almost as if whole chunks and chapters were missing. Lots of cliches which I didn’t necessarily mind but again lacked as it felt rushed. There was little to no character development with their resistance to be together being fixed within the next few paragraphs

It’s like.. I don’t know. There are a lot of missing details. It was still cute but definitely over like dramatized some parts. Like crazy over reactions that like “where did that even come from” type thing. But still cute 😂
I'm all for a novella, but I don't think this was executed well at all. This story needed at least 200 more pages. Expressing feelings for one another after 15-20 pages? Unfortunately, it made the romance very hard to believe and even harder to really care about.
Super quick audiobook. Like 77 pages of an actual book. 13 chapters. It was cute to listen to while I was driving. Didn't have much plot to it but it was nice.
2,5⭐🎧 Lectura fácil y rápida. No es una historia que impacte y es bastante estándar. Al ser un libro tan corto todo pasa muy rápido y superficial lo cual realmente no trasmite nada.
I didn't hate this nor liked this. Plus size teacher x single dad hockey player. Sam is looking for a summer job and found an ad to nanny for Derek with his ballerina daughter
Short and sweet novella. Characters were underdeveloped, but overall good book. Loved the plus size representation, but I wish it was made more clear from the get-go.
