The turbulence of ocean waves is something Sam has experience with on the surfboard, always one to ride it out or gracefully fall and try again. Giving up is never an option in her world, so now that she is settling down in her South Carolina home, attending the local high school with her boyfriend, who happens to also be her housemate, and working part time at the sea turtle rehabilitation center, she feels her life is coasting on an easy swell. That is, until she gets the shock of a lifetime that not only makes her fall off the sweet ride, but also rips her heart in two.
Ledger, struggling at college under the overbearing eye of his father, returns to South Carolina when his world is pulled out from under him after a tragic event involving the man who dictated his every step in life. Returning to the sunny coastal fishing town and cheerful beach house is supposed to be a reprieve, but he can’t relax or even begin to heal when open wounds sting worse there because he never got over Sam. It was never his idea to leave her, but his father’s direct order. Now he has to watch her with his brother, and it’s proving to be nothing but saltwater splashed on the gash in his chest.
Can Sam and Ledger find common ground to walk on, and will Noah allow it? Or will a mistake change the trajectory of all three of their lives? Find out in Every Wave After, the sequel to Falling in the Blue Hour. (Book 2 in the Embrace the Wave Series).
Kristi Ayers is the author of One Petal Flower, Nev, Irresistible (a novella), Strings of the Muse, and Falling in the Blue Hour. She lives in Oklahoma with her husband, kids, and pets. When she isn't writing she is working as a Registered Nurse in the NICU or traveling.
Ohh, how impatient I was about this book!! It's the sequel of 'Falling in the Blue Hour', from 'Embrace The Wave' series and I was super curious about what Kristi has prepared for us regarding the destinies of the main characters. Super proud to be part of her street team🩵 and I wanna thank her for this opportunity!
As I mentioned, this book continues the complicated story of Sam, Noah and Ledger. Especially after Ledger was kind of forced to come back home, after choosing to stay with his dad, in Michigan, in the 1st book. Neither Sam, nor Noah have the kindest feelings for Ledger, but Sam will be torn into two again, not knowing for sure what her heart wants. Who will be the one she'll choose in the end? Who is the one that completely stolen her heart?
Such an angsty read, filled with sooo many emotions and decisions to take. Our trio will be part of so many defining moments, which will test them at every step. The road to forgiveness wasn't easy for Sam, being in the situation of trying to forgive Ledger and someone else pretty close to her. Sam also needed to find her happiness again, after everything that happened in her life, being in a pretty sensitive spot. Noah and Ledger will continue to fight hard for their love for Sam, but only one of them will be triumphant.
Of course, I picked one of the boys before starting this book and I was rooting for him, to be with Sam in the end. Did that happned? Well, I cannot tell you that because it would be a really big spoiler🤭.
I just adore the complex stories Kristi writes and the way I'm completely immersed into them. I got pretty attached to all the characters from this book, suffering at the same time with them, my heart breaking at almost every step of the way. It was impossible to not feel compassionate for them, understanding the pain they were going through and the helplessness they showed.
This was a great continuation from falling in the blue hour! Goodness so many things happened- betrayal, loss, and relationships got tested. Sam really had to figure out her feelings and her life but damn did she do it. Noah and Ledger had to maneuver a new path in their relationship, which was a challenge. Overall, loved seeing how the characters adapted and changed throughout the story!
ARC read! I love picking up where we left off from book one. I think we got a lot of understanding of how Sam ends up where she does in the end. Part of me wanted the alternate ending though. Lol! It does leave me hopeful for getting to find out what else could happen later too for all of our characters (or at least one in particular)
Sam is now fully in a relationship with Noah , but after a tragic incident, Ledger moved back home and things get stirred up and Sam gets confused on what she wants.
Thank you Kristi for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
3.5 stars.
I did enjoy this book! It is a cute summer read with light drama and some pining. If you want a sickly sweet romance, this is the book for you!
I liked the first book a lot more though because at least at that point I didn’t hate Ledger like I did by the end of it and throughout this book, and we got a lot more Noah.
I didn’t mind Ledger’s POV at points because he actually had some good, thoughtful and funny lines. But I hate him with Sam and couldn’t stand their moments together. We had his POV way too many times in my opinion! At the very least if we got his POV that many times give us Noah’s just as much or at least more than only once!
One thing I don’t like about either of the boys is them calling other women that aren’t Sam whores and sluts. Even if those girls are trying to steal them away from Sam or they don’t want anyone but her, that doesn’t give them the right to treat them like that.
I was thinking during some of this book if Sam doesn’t want Noah, I’ll take him lol
I should have known to trust Kristi and she wouldn’t steer me wrong! I was so angry she made Noah do what he did, I wrote a whole rant about it, only to figure out the truth lol So I shouldn’t have jumped the gun, but it still made me angry in the moment!
It was a solid sequel and I am very excited to see the rest of the story if she writes a third book because I have a feeling I won’t get mad at it like I got upset while reading this one at times!
The rest of this review will have spoilers so read at your own risk!
I almost knew it was going to happen, but I hate how she made Noah the bad guy and into a person he wasn’t just so Sam could get with Ledger again. Even though it wasn’t really as it seemed, I still thought it should have went a different way to get Sam going back to Ledger even for a little bit.
Sam went back way too quickly to Ledger, especially right after she broke up with Noah. I also thought she forgave him too quickly when Ledger first got back as well. She was so horribly angry at him only for her the next day to invite him to work with her. I know she needed muscle for the turtles, but she shouldn’t have even let him talk to her. I know people can change, but at least give it a little time and not just getting over it right away.
Now I’ll admit, if the rolls were reversed and she got back with Noah very quickly I definitely wouldn’t be complaining because I love her and Noah together. So I know all my issues with this are because I don’t like Ledger, but it still made it hard for me to read at times.
I get now it’s for the drama, but I was so stressed she would end up with Ledger, I hated that Noah and her broke up for a little bit. I thought for sure he’d be endgame and I’m so glad he’s not!
It’s funny; you’d think I’d like Ledger more especially where he ended up. I’d love to live on a boat and travel the world. He did have a lot of sassy and funny lines I couldn’t help but laugh at, which made me angry because I’m not supposed to like him lol
I will probably like Ledger in the next book because he’s most likely going to be with someone else! I instantly liked the girl he talked to at the end, and they seem like they have stuff in common which is sad but good for them to bond over.
Kristi Ayers has written an amazing story with some of my favorite characters, Brody and Nate. I love this series; it's just so sweet, wholesome, and enjoyable.
Sam is now working at a turtle rescue and rehabilitation center, which ties in perfectly after book 1. Her and Noah's relationship is going smoothly until Ledger comes back home.
At the end of Falling in the Blue Hour I strongly disliked Ledger, but he is definitely getting a redemption arc. He's definitely growing on me, and there were some moments that had me swooning.
However, I will always be team Nate and Brody. They are honestly the two best people anyone could ask for. Both are super supportive, caring, and will gladly fight anyone who hurts Sam.
Brody is just a happy-go-lucky dude who's fun, positive, and hilarious. He always knows what to say. Nate is literally so supportive and is constantly cheering for Sam. I'm pretty sure he's team Noah.
Perfect if you're looking for: ☀️ Close Proximity 🌊 YA Love Triangle ☀️ He Falls Again 🌊 Tough FMC ☀️ Feuding Brothers 🌊 Amazing Side Characters
Every Wave After picks up right where Falling in the Blue Hour left off and wow, what a ride. Kristi Ayers delivers another emotional, heart aching story full of love, regret, second chances, and all the coastal vibes.
I was completely glued to the pages, torn between Sam, Ledger, and Noah as their tangled emotions and history came crashing back to the surface. The three POVs made it so easy to connect with each of them, and I felt every wave of heartbreak and hope right alongside them.
Kristi’s writing is stunning and raw, and that ending?? I’m not okay. Already counting down to book 3!
Tropes: 🌊 YA Love Triangle 💙 Coastal Beach Vibes 🌊 Enemies to Friends to ??? 💙 Feuding Brothers 🌊 Heartbreak + Healing 💙 No-Nonsense, Brave FMC 🌊 And yes… HE FALLS AGAIN
Where do I even start?!?! I just happened across this author on TikTok one day and read book one in this series and loved it. I was lucky enough to get an ARC for book 2 and just finished it. The author creates a world with her words that makes you feel like you can walk around in it. Sam the FMC is tugged in so many directions in her love life I was rooting for everyone! The YA feel of this book is there but it's not. You know their ages but the things they deal with aren't elementary emotions. I felt every single one of them. This book is a must read for YA romance lovers like myself. Get your copy as soon as it releases.
This book had me in an absolute chokehold from start to finish, and not always in a good way; but that’s what made it so addicting.
Let’s talk about Ledger. I could not stand him in the beginning. I was literally yelling at the pages. He was giving coward energy, and the whole “let me move back and stir things up” thing? No thank you. I was fully ready to throw hands if Sam even thought about falling for him again. And don’t get me started on his dad or Noah. That whole family dynamic had me fuming.
BUT THEN… Ledger started winning me over. Slowly. Begrudgingly. Against my will. 🫠 And Sam? She’s such a quiet badass. I loved that she didn’t fold under pressure, especially when both brothers were out here emotionally spiraling in opposite directions.
Now Noah… ugh. He was the only one calling Ledger out at first, which I respected. But then he started acting like a complete ass, and I had to revoke all his points. I was constantly switching sides… Team Ledger, Team Noah, back and forth like I was courtside at Wimbledon. This book gave me emotional whiplash in the best (and worst) way.
In the end, I truly believe Sam made the right choice. And honestly? I’m still thinking about Ledger. I need more of his journey, because that man’s growth arc was just getting started and I want to see him fully healed and thriving.
This story was raw, messy, and complicated.. just like my life!
Book 2 in the series picks up right where we left off in book 1. This time, we get 3 POVs and you know your girl loves more than 1 POV.
We follow Ledger after he left South Carolina to go back to Michigan and Sam whose was left to pick up the pieces. Thankfully Noah was there to help her along the way and it turned into a budding romance. That is until Halloween.
Sam finds herself in a love triangle yet again. After a visit with her besties back in California, she had just the right amount of space and help from her ocean to make a decision.
I will say that I have a soft spot for Ledger because I’m a sucker for morally grey bad boys, even if they only seem that way on the outside. After the bonus chapters, we seem to be getting another book and I can’t wait to read that!
Every wave after is book 2 in the Embrace the Wave series. I was happy to go back to that story, I really liked the characters in book 1 and book 2 does not disappoint ! The love triangle between Sam, Noah and Ledger gives a rollercoaster vibe and angsty feelings in the story and it's impossible to put down. The writing is very good and the pace is perfect.
This book picks up right where Falling in the Blue Hour left off, and it is an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least. The laughs were there as well as the gasps and the tears. Reading all three POVs and getting inside the minds of our three main characters makes it incredibly easy to feel and connect with Sam, Ledger, and Noah. I know who i was rooting for before opening this book. I know who I was rooting for halfway through the story. I did not see the ending coming, but I can honestly say that i am one hundred percent ecstatic with how it ended! I absolutely need more from these three as well as Nate and Brody - Sams best friends from California. And the bonus chapter.. come on, Kristi, we need to know what is going to happen next! The writing, Kristi's way with words, makes it so easy to read and connect with the characters on an emotional level, which makes for an incredible story. I honestly can not wait to read more from her. Thank you to Kristi for allowing me the chance to read this amazing book before it is released on June 3, 2025. I think everyone should add thisbto their TBR as well as the first book.
Kristi Ayer’s really has outdone herself with this one! This book is amazing and deserves a spot on everyone’s bookshelf.
Every Wave After follows after Falling in the Blue Hour(book 1) and will absolutely captivate you from page one.
I loved Falling in the Blue Hour, and this one also PERFECTION.
I especially enjoyed that we got to see different character’s POV in this one. I particularly enjoyed Ledger’s POV. Kristi Ayer’s did an exceptional job at his character development! Once you start seeing Ledger’s walls fall down you can’t help but love his character and honesty my heart really went out to him! As you get to know him better and see his POV play out , you can’t help but have a part of you rooting for Ledger! Not only do we get to see Ledger’s POV but we also get Sam’s and Noah’s! It’s honestly hard to just fall in love with just one character when they are all so great!
I also appreciated seeing how the story unfolded for all the characters from Falling in the Blue Hour.
The story remained fresh, with a great pace and character development.
Not going to lie I did get teary eyed through this one! And I definitely was a little sad when I finished the last page of this book, why? Because honestly I didn’t want this story to end! It is such a captivating, heartfelt, feeling like your home kind of story!
Secretly hoping Kristi Ayer’s writes another one in this series!!
Fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty or The Kissing Booth will enjoy this book.
I highly recommend reading Falling in the Blue Hour first.
Wow! This book was the perfect end to Sam’s story. The journey she goes on in this book and the bad ass we get to see her be! I wish I could have been at that party to watch her kick ass!! I had a love/hate relationship with Noah and Ledger in this book. I love them because who wouldn’t honestly. I hated how when Noah and Sam were having problems, Ledger weaseled his way in and confused Sam. I get that Ledger loved Sam too but damn dude, you’re the one who messed it all up for yourself. I hated how it felt like it took Noah FOREVER to actually deal with what happened at the party. I was even mad at Sam at moments. I really liked seeing the real side of Ledger in this book. He is just a broken boy who wanted to please his father. Seeing his hurt and heartache and the remorse he had for leaving makes you feel for him. I hope he gets his HEA too. Even though I hated how he handled things in FitBH, I loved seeing this newer side of Ledger.
Kristi Ayers never disappoints and this book is packed full of amazing character development, emotional turmoil and growth, self awareness and reflection, angst, anti bully energy, self defense, fun, thrilling adventures and did I mention angst?!
Every Wave After is the sequel to Falling in the Blue Hour where we learn about Sam, a teenage girl uplifted from her life from Cali to move across the country where her mom settled them in to a coastal town with her best friend and her two teenage boys, Noah and Ledger. Sam is trying not to be a brat and embrace this new life, while missing her two best friends from California, Brody and Nate. There’s a lot that happens in book one that leaves you FEIGNING for book two 🤣
I can’t decide which book I enjoyed more because they both have so much emotion and meaning! I wasn’t sure which direction relationships were going to go in Every Wave After and Kristi did an excellent job keeping me guessing! In the end, I am SO happy for Sam and her growth and dare I say I hope there might be another book about a certain someone’s coastal adventures 🙈
I am so honored to be part of Kristi’s ARC and street team and immeasurably grateful to have the opportunity to read her books for an honest review. I love a good YA romance and her books check ALL the boxes!
-Second book in the series - Love triangle - He falls again
This wonderful love triangle romance is the perfect example of how we change as we grow older. I fell in love again with the sweet characters and small town that captured my heart in the first book.
First, I really enjoyed Sam's character even more in this book and how much she had to grow in order to find herself, which relates to my life as well. She has her heart on her sleeve and pours it out through the words in the story. She has embraced her emotions and learns from each challenge she must face.
Ledger stole the spotlight with his presence and heart that I admire in this book. He showed the most beautiful growth and strength that only shows perseverance can make you stronger.
Noah has a heart and soul that is beautiful and I really enjoyed seeing it blossom in this story. Being young is hard and Noah shows heartfelt love to embrace his family and shine through.
Another wonderful book that shows deep emotions and love that tug at your heart.
A big thanks to Kristi Ayers for sending me an advanced copy of Every Wave After. After finishing Falling in the Blue Hour, I had to know what happened next—and this book delivered.
This one is full of emotion. The love triangle gets even more complicated, the heartbreak hits harder, and the characters really start to grow into themselves. Sam’s still figuring things out, and the push and pull between her and the brothers felt real and messy in the best way.
I was really glad to see Nate, Brody, and Borden show up again. Having them back made everything feel more grounded and connected to FITBH.
Ledger was the standout for me. Quiet but solid, dealing with a lot, and still showing up. Noah brought so much heart too. Neither of them is perfect, which made it all feel more believable.
And I’m still thinking about that last scene!
If you’re into contemporary YA with emotional depth and complicated relationships, this one’s worth diving into.
✨Arc review✨ I absolutely loved this sequel to Falling in the Blue hour. The fun summer vibes are definitely still there, however this book is definitely deeper and deals with heavier topics. It was so nice to catch up with Sam, Noah and Ledger and see them continue to grow and mend broken hearts and forge friendships. Although there were definitely parts of this book that gutted me, and made me question who Sam’s heart was truly with, I am so happy with who she ran back to. I have had a favorite brother from the start and I’m so happy. This book definitely involves a love triangle and Sam’s heart being pulled in different directions, but it was written so well it definitely made for a fantastic read. I loved where this book ended and that the ending left it open for a new love story to emerge.
this is the second book in the Duet and it did surprise me. I'll be completely honest and say my opinion on Sam changed from the first book I liked her she was going through alot and i felt sorry for her but then it seemed like she was playing both guys against each other and i thought she was going to do the completely wrong thing and do Noah dirty... yes what he did looked bad but if she hadnt taken the time to listen to him and not be so hotheaded then she wouldn't have gone to Ledger. but she redeemed herself to me when she told Ledger it was over. even though I did have moments where I wanted to scream and shake some sense into Sam. but she chose well in the end but i do think she didnt truly deserve Noah . this Duet had been a rollcoaster for me and the characters. and really hope we see them in the future and see where Ledgers path takes him.
I absolutely devoured the second book in this series. I truly enjoyed Falling in the Blue Hour, but this second book truly captured my heart. A perfect book to kick off summer, this book has all the beach vibes, summer romance, love triangle, adventure and turtles!! I loved the different POV chapters. I’m truly hoping there’s a book 3 - there’s a remaining story that deserves to be told and I need it! :) As a Mom of a teenager, I’d probably label this closer to new adult versus YA. I cannot recommend this coming of age series enough! Thank you to Kristi and her entire team for giving me an opportunity to read this as an ARC. I am excited for its official release and getting a trophy copy for my shelf.
This picked up right where left off in the first book. I love the direction this story took with THAT conclusion! There was just enough drama and healing to keep me entertained to the last page and I appreciate that the boys will eventually warm up to each other again. 🥺 Sibling rivalry is tough and the love triangle between brothers can be upsetting when you love both characters in different ways.
Good on Sam for standing up for herself and finding her strength again after all she hell she was put through. I loved her character arc so much! 👏 Her love and dedication to the sea turtles was admirable. I appreciate the level of maturity it took to help the person that hurt her the most. Witnessing them all heal in this story was beautiful.
I received an advanced readers copy of this book and would have to say, jaw dropped.
Well what can I say? This book was a great addition to Sam’s journey. Kristi had me pulling for the red flags throughout the whole novel and now I am wondering if I will get more to the story. I need to know what happens when they graduate? What happens with Ledger? Can her besties in Cali be more perfect?
I don’t even know who I was pulling for in the beginning. I’m glad it ended the way it did and a bonus Ledger chapter left me wanting more!!!

Kristi Ayers has done it again! Every Wave After is truly a masterpiece and takes on a literal wave of emotions.
Sam and Noah's story continues and all seems like a fairy tale. That is, until Ledger enters the chat again. When a chain of events has each of them struggling to grasp reality and not spiral out of control, Sam takes a trip back home to visit her best friends Nate and Brody.
While this trip is everything she needed, Sam also finds herself facing difficult decisions. Can this visit back home heal her heart and open it back up to all the possibilities? Nate speaks words of wisdom but maybe it's what Sam's heart has known all along.
This book is what I call unputdownable! You will think the same! Grab this ASAP!
I absolutely loved this book. I loved how it picked up right where it left off in book 1. Tugged at my heartstrings for Sam. The struggle of forgiving and healing was definitely a tug of war. With all that she went through she still managed to hold it together. I loved how Nate and Brody made her realize that she was not done. People make mistakes and sometimes we get blinded too the rage of what we see and not focus on getting the full story. I loved how Noah and Sam got back to each other and the patience he had for him to get on her good graces.
This book was incredible! It was even better than the first which I also loved. If I could give it 6 stars I would! I love all the characters and the plot was interesting and addicting. I couldn’t put it down.
This is the perfect summer read! This book!! I couldn’t stop once I was fully invested!! Every Wave After is book two in Embrace the Wave series. It picks up right where book one ends! Sam and Noah, are right where they need to be. Finishing their senior year, without any problems, other than a few jealous seniors wishing Noah were his. Everything is right, until it isn’t. Ledger returns home, and turns everything upside down. Heartstrings are being torn, and Sam isn’t sure what she wants anymore. Can she live under the same roof with the boy who broke it? And can her and Noah work through the rough patch they’re in?
Tropes: -YA Love Triangle -Close Proximity -He Falls Again -Enemies to Lovers to... -Coastal Town
To say I loved this book would be putting it gently. I absolutely adore it. If you are a fan of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" then the Embrace the Wave series (including Falling In The Blue Hour & Every Wave After) is for you!!
Every Wave After is the sequel to Falling in the Blue Hour... And I have to say, as much as I loved Falling in the Blue Hour, I loved Every Wave After even more. This book is relatable, cute and well written. It's the perfect easy read for summer if you like YA Romance. Character development was written to perfection for all characters, and the different POV made it easy to relate to each character.
If you loved the Summer I Turned Pretty series, you will love this series!
