For the first time, Miranda Hart invites you to share in the world of her award-winning sitcom 'Miranda'. At last, you can chortle at, revel in, and - if you wish - re-enact Miranda's favourite moments at your leisure. Specially designed for all those hard-to-reach places that it's hard for your screen to, um, reach, 'The Best of Miranda' brings you the gossip from behind the scenes, the never-before-seen snaps, the secrets of her inspiration, the bits that didn't make it, and - such fun!
Miranda Katharine Hart Dyke (born 14 December 1972), known professionally as Miranda Hart, is an English actress, writer and stand-up comedienne. She writes and stars in the BBC sitcom Miranda. She also appeared in French and Saunders, the BBC television series Hyperdrive and her semi-autobiographical sitcom Miranda Hart's Joke Shop on BBC Radio 2. I absolutely love Miranda. It’s one of my favorite telly shows—too bad it ended. So when I spotted this book, I knew I had to have it.
This book is a lovely addition to the series. It contains six of Miranda’s favorite scripts in their original form along with handwritten notes from Miranda, behind the scenes tid-bits, recipes, pictures, and more.
I loved getting to read the scripts in their original forms along with the production edits and Miranda’s own notes and learning about what goes on backstage. I also liked seeing how and why Miranda Hart created this series. My only problem with this book that I wanted to see a bit more and would have loved it if they would have had included more scripts.
Overall, this is the perfect gift if you’re a Miranda fan.
This was super fun! I loved the little behind the scenes looks for all of these episodes, plus reading annotated scripts was GREAT. I will miss this show so much.
I had an absolute blast reading this book alongside a binge watch of the TV series. I love the show and Miranda. I can relate to her physical and social awkwardness so bless her for turning it into something so funny. Watching the show is a guaranteed 'cheer-me-up' for me.
A great addition to any Miranda fans collection. Great fun (or perhaps, such fun!) trivia and an inside look into how Miranda was feeling at the time she wrote this series. The book is so pretty and well-made and I love seeing it on my bookshelf.
The book was ok - some laugh out loud moments and some moments that just didn’t really work reading them off a script. I think I would have enjoyed this more if I had watched the show more recently than I have.
If you know the show, reading this will make you love it even more & you will want to read along side the show, the next time you watch. Interesting to see into the mind of Miranda Hart herself. Absolutely Brilliant!!
If you loved watching the ‘Miranda’ series then you’ll love this book. This book has the original written scripts of a select few of the episodes and even has section that were either removed during early development and personal thoughts and feeling of Miranda during the performance. Would recommend to anyone that is a ‘Miranda.’
I can't grasp how many stars I want to give this book. MORE. I love it way too much and I'll probably always hope for new Miranda episodes... When I started to read this book I thought the scripts would bore me a little bit. Despite that I know every episode by heart it still was fun revisiting them (and a fairly quick read). To be honest I hoped for more annotations throughout the scripts because I come from the film business and know how much scripts are usually revised but loved to read about Miranda Hart's struggle to write each episode, what difficulties they had to overcome during shootings as well as the "Behind the Scenes Tit-Bits". You get a entirely different perspective on everything Miranda. I was completely astonished that I suddenly found a flaw about one of the episodes that I've probably seen most frequently. Miranda speaking in pretend french to Stevie (there is nothing better than Miranda episodes with the customer!) even though Stevie took french lessons in series one (hooking up with the fifth doctor slash french teacher). I don't mind the mistake but it surprised me that I could still discover new things. I love it!(Note to self: don't write reviews after 1am xD)
So I love Miranda and this was a nice re-introduction to the tv series and reminded me that I missed the Christmas special/finale. I liked all the tidbits but it didn't add a lot for me on the genuine series.
Although it has been at least a couple of years since I last watched Miranda, while reading this I could hear all the actors’ voices in my head and see them performing. The comedy was as entertaining as I remember. I definitely preferred the earlier scripts, which included sections which never made it to the final version of the episode, as the extra information and dialogue made it worth reading the book. For the final couple of scripts, which were exactly as broadcast, I felt that I might as well just watch the episode itself rather than read the script.
Great read with hilarious insights and anecdotes from Miranda about the sitcom... how well the writing exercise went, rehearsels etc. Definite recommend to all who enjoy Miranda Hart's brand of silliness and hilarity. 😂🤣
What a treat to be able to read the scripts and find out many tit-bits about the production. Miranda Hart is so funny. With such a great cast, zany situations, perfect comedic timing, and laugh-out-loud episodes, this is by far my favorite television show. Such fun!
Massive fan of both Miranda Hart and the show Miranda. This book provides interesting tidbits about the show as well as a few scripts of her favorite episodes with notes.
I have recently discovered Miranda Hart's TV show "Miranda" now available on Hulu and have fallen in love with the show, the characters, and all things Miranda! This was a fun read since you get extra information about the show, the actors, and some of Miranda's favorite episodes!! Seriously, Such Fun!!
