Rob writes visceral, concept-driven horror stories, anchored by complex characters and offbeat narratives.

Where do I even start with this book?

I have always loved a short story collection, most collections are good but have a couple of weak stories amongst them. ‘Infliction’ however, isn’t one of those, every story is a 5 star read. All of them excel at the stories they are telling, pulling you in and keeping you hooked throughout.

One of the standout aspects of this book for me is its use of mixed media. Now, I love a story that blends various media because they give off found footage movie vibes (my absolute favorite horror sub-genre). In ‘Infliction’, this technique is peppered throughout in various forms, but the absolute highlight for me was ‘PSA’, a story told entirely through mixed media. For me, Rob is easily right up there as one of the masters of this style.

I absolutely powered through this book, at the end of each story I just had to carry on to the next one to see what was in store. It absolutely blows me away the talent he has to tell stories through many different methods and to still keep the intrigue and essence of the story that keeps the reader wanting more.

This is the second short story collection I have read of Rob’s (‘Fleshed Out’ being the first) and I can safely say that he NEVER disappoints. If you enjoy well written and thought out horror stories filled with body horror and include mixed media then ‘Infliction’ is definitely the book for you.

Wow. I decided to give this a shot when I saw Godless advertise it on my twitter. Mainly because it wasn't an ai generated cover but then as I opened the page I realised how much this book fed directly into my favourite types of horror. As someone who grew up on creepy pastas as a kid, this did nail that short horror story that would've kept little me up at night. Hell, adult me regretted reading it right before bed at some points. I really don't have anything that negative to say, my least favourite of the short stories was simply ok and not bad. I am definitely going to read more of Rob's work in the future as this was a very enjoyable read.

Disgustingly brilliant - Rob Ulitski is a genius writer with a very macabre mind. This is a really strong selection of varied short stories and I can’t wait to read the next book from him.

Depraved distrust, visceral body horror, cruel cacophonies, nerve shredding nightmares and mangled malevolence permeate these tales of the weird.

Exploring the technology, discoveries and groundbreaking research surrounding us that we often deem harmless, these stories are life and death taken to the extreme and I loved every one!

The body horror is gloriously grotesque as you would expect from Rob, he is a master at turning your stomach but creating a narrative you cannot turn away from. This is our modern tech obsessed life turned deadly mixing compelling prose with multimedia and creating a horror banquet to be consumed with relish, exceptional!
