They call me Ladybug.
I’m the only female EBUG for the New York Knights. I’m starting goalie for my university team. I’m also just a beta. At least according to my knothead ex. Ugh.

What in the SHITTY ALPHA fuckery is this.
I could get through the cringy dialogue that didn't bother me. I mean, sometimes I was like, why in the hell would you say that? But whatever..
alpha happy juice? 🤮🤮🤮 the dirty talk was candy and super fluffy overdone.
But the one thing I could not get through was the constant reiteration of things like, yeah, it became fluff to say the same thing, in different ways in different chapters over and over again.
This needed somebody who loves omega verse and a good developmental editor. because the plot is absolutely there.
Now let's talk about shitty alphas, because ladybug has continuously come across them. Clark being a super sweet puppy dog does not excuse him letting another alpha, put his hand on his mate. and then on top of that, tens showing up and showing little to no consideration or concern for that happening. You've got to be kidding me. I AM FUMINNN
I need authors to take a class in writing omegaverse before they start to. Because no alpha worth his salt, I would ever let that happen, find out that happened and not react.
How does this have almost five stars, like HELLO?!?!?!
Honestly, I feel like the author just grabbed every trope they could and shoved it in this book.
Mafia, broken bond, kidnapping, secret baby, betrayed mating cheating. Stalker kidnapping abusive ex. these things would be fine if they were wrapped up neater and well, fleshed out
Every single alpha this woman has come across minus her friends has failed her! Including her partners. Hiding a baby? Ghosting? her kidnapper, having her 3 weeks, because her fathers and brothers didn't want to upset the commissioner of the town. her omega's sister is telling her she should be grateful and alpha even looked at her the same alpha who kidnapped her.
her ex using his rage to excuse, throwing a skate at her head and putting her in the hospital.
Honestly nobody in this book deserves her. well, her friends deserve her.I would have much rather seen her end up with dimitri & lenny!!!!

Rating: Obsessed (rounded up)
This is book 3 in the Hockeyverse series, but book 1 of a new duet with a new couple! Jane has built such an amazing world—this book feels like a continuation, but you could still start here (though I’d recommend reading 1&2 for full impact). And the best part? More Lucky the Invisible Cat! 🐱🤣
I love why choose romances where each person plays a unique role in the relationship. The omegaverse takes that to another level—it’s a world where love is love, free of judgment, and packs form in all kinds of ways. Add in found family, and I’m hooked. There's nothing better than finding your people and knowing you belong.
Gwen & Clarke already have that connection (since we met Gwen in 1&2), and Clarke’s on the team. Tenzian is the wildcard—new to the team and desperate for a fresh start after drama with his ex. The slow burn is real because Tenzian and Gwen have walls sky-high. Even when that CLIFFY hits, they’re still not all fully on the same page!
Speaking of drama, Tenzian is trying to clean up his mess fast so it doesn’t ruin what he has with Clarke & Gwen. Meanwhile, Gwen’s caught up something big 👀, and Clarke? He’s just the golden retriever boyfriend happy to be along for the ride.
And THAT CLIFFY. Jane, why do you do this to us?! 😭 I need book 2 ASAP to end my suffering.

I fell in love with the author's storytelling and world building in her first two books - Finding the Forward. While you don't need to read the first two - I highly recommend it as they are the start of the series, we meet our FMC Gwen there and there are so many great secondary (and hopefully soon to be MC's) that are in all the books. First, I'm not a hockey romance girl - but I met Jane Handler over on socials and because I love OV and why choose/found family - I gave her first books a try. And now I'm hooked. Don't be put off by the hockey theme - while it def plays a part in the story - it's not the whole story and you don't have to be fully invested to enjoy it. Gwen, Clark and Tenzian - our MC's are all navigating their way through their pasts - to be able to form their pack. There are some hard situations, that Jane does an amazing job of writing about - but def check the triggers. While we get to see the three of them together, briefly, and Clark and Gwen together several times - Tens is working through some hard things from his past. The end, we're seeing them start to come together and then we get hit with the cliff hanger - that I'm STILL mad about 2 days later lol I can't wait for book 2 in this duet and I hope you all add this to your TBR. Thanks to Jane and her team for the chance to read this via an ARC book!

The storyline is so captivating…truly was nervous when i saw the length of the book but finished it in 2 days kept my attention the whole time. Ladybug has so much growth throughout the book and can’t wait to get the next book to continue their story. That cliffhanger!!! Thank you for only have a month between books! Be ready to be sucked into this spin on omegaverse

Well, wow! Absolutely amazing storyline that had me captivated from the start. The cliffhanger ending best not break my heart in part 2.
Great new characters. It was great to see the other hockeyverse characters, too. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster. It's about a FMC who hits rock bottom who ends up with nothing left after a bad break up, she ends up homeless she becomes friends with a new player which develops into more, along with being friends with the rest of the knights, she is to proud to ask for help, there are plenty of secrets which get revealed, a good amout of spice, while watching ladybug grow into the women she is meant to be. Ladybug gets to play her debut game and does amazing!
Fantastic series. You don't have to read finding forward 1 & 2 first, but if you like knowing the other characters' stories in the hockeyverse world, I highly recommend them as they were also great stories.

If there's one thing to know about me....I'm an absolute SUCKER for friends to lovers. The foundation it lays for the relationship is just.....perfection for me. Add in the fact that this was an MMF omegaverse where he falls first and....ugh...so good.
We meet Gwen in Jane's first two HockeyVerse books, she's a Beta EBUG for the New York Knights hockey team while going to college. After a pretty traumatic breakup (please check content warnings) she struggles to keep her head above water financially and emotionally.
Clark has always had a thing for Gwen but he's been respectful. He's such an amazing golden retriever of an Alpha and moves Gwen into his apartment without questions when she needs help.
Tenzin is newly traded to the Knights, an Alpha who also has a breakup history (really his ex did him dirty!). He gravitates towards Clark and Gwen but has his own secrets and asks for patience.

I have never read an Omegaverse before this one, and after reading, I will definitely be on the lookout for more!
I adored all of these characters especially Gwen. She was kind, a people pleaser and an animal lover. Tenz was sweet in his own way, but more broading, while Clark was a puppy dog and always wanted to cuddle.
The fact that in this world, same sex and throuples relationships were the norm led to some very spicy situations which I loved!
Be ready for a cliffhanger ending which will leave you wanting to jump right into book 2!

The couple: Tenzin, Clark, and Gwen
Romance trope: omegaverse; hockey
Series: Hockeyverse
Length: 626 pages
Plot: Gwen is about to start her last year of college and she's an established EBUG (emergency substitute goalie) for the local pro hockey team. Her long-term boyfriend should be finding out soon that he's been drafted to a pro team, but when he isn't signed, he loses his mind and attacks her. So of course she breaks up with him. That leaves the field open for Clark, a player on the pro team that has had a crush on her forever. But she's also met the newest member of the team, Tenzin, and she really likes him too. Maybe they could start sometimes together, almost like a pack. Hockey is all-consuming, but sometimes love is too.
Commentary: Overly long (and with a part 2??!?!)
I don't even know how to marshall my thoughts on this one. I'll try:
1. The gender utopia that was going on here was...interesting. There was all manner of arrangements, as far as matings, packs, relationships, etc. And there was no gender discrimination anywhere, not on the ice, not in the WAGS, not in any field. There did not seem to be any delineation with respect to anything anywhere. And honestly, that sounds great in theory, and I think the work they did in the hockey rink was divided more on the basis of designation (although this world seems to be trying to even that out as well). But I felt like that was the least realistic thing about the story (which of course is fiction, so why not?).
2. The amount of cringe. The "dirty talk," oh my goodness - might as well rename it "secondhand embarassment."
3. Those sex scenes felt a little like the consent seminars they provided in college dorms in the early to mid-90s. Not sexy at all. Consent can be sexy, but this wasn't.
4. Why do I feel like the majority of the characters are just a little below average intelligence? It felt like they were all making super dumb decisions all the time.
5. Are you sure none of them have a drinking problem? Because they all drink a lot. Scratch that. It's me, I know it. I'm a bit of a stick in the mud, but they spent their time dancing and partying and drinking and going out to bars and arranging outings. For people who had jobs (sometimes multiple jobs) and college, I couldn't see where they found the time! But that's probably me viewing it through the lens of my own life. I'd be too tired to party like that. They're good. Or whatever .
6. For someone who has too much pride to accept help from people, Gwen gets a lot of help from people. Essentially, her entire life is funded by her friends - housing, food, clothes, medical care (well, they seem to have decent insurance, unlike actual America - I did mention the word "utopia" earlier), hockey gear, etc. But EVeRyBoDy LOveS GwEn - that's how you can tell the enemies from the good guys.
7. Lol, super secret Mafia family.
8. It felt a little like everything was thrown into the plot, and then when it needed sometimes else, an extra Deus ex Machina would be drizzled on for effct. Need a reason for her to still be upset about defending herself from the dead bad guy? Upend the normal omegaverse stylings and have her bond with another beta on his deathbed in a made-up "dead bond." Sure. Oh no, now she has mystical alpha and omega powers that just show up whenever she needs them because of her dead mate, even though normally betas don't bond and certainly not with another beta. Twins with two different dads (even though I know that can happen, it's pretty rare), one with the main character (who is definitely going to keep it a secert, because that won't cause angst later, and the other with one of the cheaters). We have a secret baby, secret identity, mafia, hocky, omegaverse, menage, college, psycho ex, powerful political enemies, money struggles, on the run, motorcycle accident, found family, etc, etc, etc.
9. As someone who had not read any of the previous books, there were way too many friends.
I did like Clark as a person. He was probably the best character.
Anyways, I'm sure there were lots of people who liked this. I don't think I did - it was a bit of a slog for me to get through.

This is the 3rd book in the HockeyVerse Series written by Jane Handle, but it is the first book in a new duet with all new couples! I love the world that Jane has built for her HockeyVerse, and honestly, this book feels like it is nothing more than just a continuation of Finding The Forward Bk. 1 & 2. And while you don't have to have read those books to enjoy this book, I would suggest that you read them to get the full impact as there are characters from those books that make an appearance in this book.
Why Choose is one of my most read and most chosen genres that I read. I absolutely love that each person in the relationship plays not only an important part but also a pivotal part of the relationship. And in this omegaverse, it's just taken up to the next level. In this world, love is just love. There is no judgment, packs form in all ways just for love and how they feel. It's the perfect found family, and it hooks me in every time. I love how you know that you have found your people, found where you belong, and know that these are the people who get you perfectly.
We know that Gwen and Clark have this amazing connection, we met them back in Finding the Forward Part 1&2 and I absolutely fell in love with them and hoped they would find the rest of their pack soon. They are both on the team, and they just work so well together. Then we meet Tenzin, and he's kind of this wild element to the team, and he is desperate for a new start a second chance after some major drama with his own ex. We can feel the real slow burn between Tenzin and Gewn and they both have their walls way up after having been hurt in the past.
Even when we get to the end and oh that Cliffhanger, I am still not over it, Gwen and Tenzin aren't on the same page yet.
And you want drama, Tenzen is trying to clean up a mess he made so fast so he doesn't ruin his chances with Clark and Gwen and what he has with them. And Gwen, she's caught up in the middle of something gargantuan. And Clark? He's happy just being the golden retriever boyfriend, of course happy to tag along for the ride like always.
Like I said, that cliffhanger, it was just as bad as with Finding the Forward Part 1. Jane, why? Can't you give us a more gentle cliffhanger and not one that leaves us biting our nails. Please give me book 2 so I know what happens and this suffering I'm feeling can end and I can be back with my friends again.

Loving Ladybug, Part One, is a friends to lovers why choose hockey romance, and it is the first book in a duet. It will, in the end, be an m/m/f. Part One will end on a cliffhanger, but you will find that Part 2 ends in the HEA we all want. This duet is part of the HockeyVerse, but don't worry, you don't have to have read Finding the Forward Parts 1 or 2 to enjoy this book.
This is the 3rd book in the HockeyVerse Series written by Jane Handle, but it is the first book in a new duet with all new couples! I love the world that Jane has built for her HockeyVerse, and honestly, this book feels like it is nothing more than just a continuation of Finding The Forward Bk. 1 & 2. And while you don't have to have read those books to enjoy this book, I would suggest that you read them to get the full impact as there are characters from those books that make an appearance in this book.
Why Choose is one of my most read and most chosen genres that I read. I absolutely love that each person in the relationship plays not only an important part but also a pivotal part of the relationship. And in this omegaverse, it's just taken up to the next level. In this world, love is just love. There is no judgment, packs form in all ways just for love and how they feel. It's the perfect found family, and it hooks me in every time. I love how you know that you have found your people, found where you belong, and know that these are the people who get you perfectly.
We know that Gwen and Clark have this amazing connection, we met them back in Finding the Forward Part 1&2 and I absolutely fell in love with them and hoped they would find the rest of their pack soon. They are both on the team, and they just work so well together. Then we meet Tenzin, and he's kind of this wild element to the team, and he is desperate for a new start a second chance after some major drama with his own ex. We can feel the real slow burn between Tenzin and Gewn and they both have their walls way up after having been hurt in the past.
Even when we get to the end and oh that Cliffhanger, I am still not over it, Gwen and Tenzin aren't on the same page yet.
And you want drama, Tenzen is trying to clean up a mess he made so fast so he doesn't ruin his chances with Clark and Gwen and what he has with them. And Gwen, she's caught up in the middle of something gargantuan. And Clark? He's happy just being the golden retriever boyfriend, of course happy to tag along for the ride like always.
Like I said, that cliffhanger, it was just as bad as with Finding the Forward Part 1. Jane, why? Can't you give us a more gentle cliffhanger and not one that leaves us biting our nails. Please give me book 2 so I know what happens and this suffering I'm feeling can end and I can be back with my friends again.

Wow! First and foremost, I am really, really impressed with this interpretation of omegaverse. Alternate designations (e.g. gamma, kappa, deltas, etc.) are exceedingly rare in modern, published omegaverse, so I was such a treat to see that representation. Further, the author’s guide for each was very comprehensive, and highly appreciated, as there is so much conflicting discourse on what actually defines these alternate designations.
In addition, the different little quirks regarding mates, bonds, designation-specific illness, and other omegaverse specific mechanics were very interesting and unique. I will definitely be reading Jane’s other duet!!
In terms of the story itself, I really enjoyed these characters. I don’t often find myself gravitating toward omegaverse where there’s a pack / couple that doesn’t include an omega, but this was really well done! I didn’t miss the omega aspects at all.
Gwen is a really complex character with a lot of unresolved trauma and familial hardship. I loved how tenacious she is, how much of a survivor she is. Seriously, she’s a beta warrior, in my opinion, and has no problem fighting for what she wants. All of the “hell yeah”s for a female in sport, and even more, a beta in a sport dominated by alphas and omegas!!
As for Clark, her adorable alpha golden retriever, all I could picture was Tom Welling in Smallville, and I am NOT complaining. He’s the perfect golden retriever with a filthy mouth and slutty glasses. He was such a wonderful friend and partner for Gwen.
Tenzin, oh Tenzin! Why?! He is also a really great partner and I can’t wait for his story to really bloom in part two of this duet. I feel like we’ve barely scratched the surface of everything he has to bring and I’m ready. Brother needs to really open his heart cause when he does, it’s gonna destroy me, lol.
The romance portion was really sweet, and again, had some really interesting dynamics unique to this omegaverse interpretation. I think their love story is going to be one for the ages by the end of part two, and I’m really looking forward to their HEA. It will be well earned.

I also loved seeing the return of familiar faces from Finding the Forward, it felt like coming home. “Loving Ladybug - Part One” is another amazing novel written by Jane Handler into an omegaverse, poly relationship that follows Gwen, Clark and Tenz.
My heart broke for the first part of the book. Gwen’s situation was really hard to read and my heart broke for her. She was always doing this for others and helping others that she ended up putting herself last. Even though she didn’t want to ask for help and ended up doing a lot of stuff on her own and managing, my heart was stuck in my throat reading how she struggled. I loved how she is legit a firecracker and chaotic, but also a gentle soul, and she had been through a lot.
Jane Handler touches a lot into familiar relationships and Gwen’s no different. She escaped her family to start new and has been through a lot. Same with Tenz; he just got out of a messy relationship and he’s starting to heal. His situation with his ex-wife was also really tough to read and I hope he doesn’t screw up on the second book! He starts to find out that Gwen is the perfect person to start his healing process, but just as soon as he starts to let go of his past, it pushes him further away from Clark and Gwen and Tenz are still young. Not as young as Clark and Gwen, but he’s not even thirty yet, and he’s in a tough spot. The way Clark communicates with him it’s endearing and they give each other space to heal and move as they feel comfortable.
Clark is the most golden retriever guy and how his mouth waters over Tenz is just super cute. He is the glue of the relationship, but he prioritizes Gwen. He’s the one that keeps everyone and everything in balance and even awakens some new things in Gwen and Tenz.
The book ends with a cliffhanger and there’s still a lot of their relationship to unfold, but I’m expecting my heart to melt over Tenz’s future and how he’ll deal with the mess he has created for himself in this first part.

There are lots of omegaverses out there. There are tons of hockey romances. There are even plenty of omegaverse hockey romances. They are not going to all be unique and that doesn’t make them bad. But the ones that are different are really something else. That’s one of the reasons I love this HockeyVerse by Handler. Handler seems to mix things up so we don’t get the same old hockey OV romance that we have seen many times. Not only does the author create new sports and new dynamics within this world, such as females playing professional hockey on the same teams as males, but the author also gives us such a different mix of pack dynamics that deviates from the typical group of alpha males and an omega female. In the first duet, we got male omegas and a female alpha. In this book, we get male alphas and a female beta. Besides all of that, we get such a good story with characters that you feel strongly for.
I became such a big fan of Gwen’s from the first words of the story. She works so hard and gives everything she has so that she and her boyfriend can both achieve their dreams. She does whatever she can to lift his spirits. But she isn’t appreciated like she should be. Her ex has been keeping major secrets from her and, on top of that, his anger takes over and he assaults her. But Gwen is not a woman that will let tragedy derail her. I love that she’s a goalie because that’s something we really don’t get to see often. After leaving her ex, she gets the chance to be with the alphas that she deserves. She doesn’t have many people in her life but she does have her friend Clark and develops a friendship with Tenzin. These are the alphas that she deserves. Even if they have their own issues, the three are perfect together.
I loved this book and have become such a big fan of this universe. Gwen is so strong even though she is a beta. The alphas are everything that they deserve. This story follows Gwen “Ladybug” Di Rossi, an EBUG for the New York Knights hockey team. She has been dreaming about being a goalie in the PHL since she was a little girl and after leading both her college teams to championship titles, it is looking promising. After getting into a massive and physical fight with her boyfriend, she flees to the one place she feels safest, the ice rink she works. New York Knights forward Clark finds Gwen bleeding and unconscious on the ice after missing her phone call after the fight. He has always had a crush on Gwen and now that she is healing from her breakup, maybe he will be able to help even more. Tenzin, newly traded from the Portland Sasquatches to the New York Knights, is still crushed from the betrayal of his former girlfriend and best friends. As he is scoping out the ice rink where his new team plays, he meets Gwen and is instantly draw to her. As she is waiting for Clark to come back from visiting his family during the off-season, she starts to get closer to Tenzin. Once Clark gets back and realizes Gwen has been living in a closet at the ice rink, he has her move in with him, which happens to be next door to Tenzin’s new apartment. Clark did not realize that Gwen’s new friend “Tens” was also the man that Clark has had a crush on since Tenzin walked in on him multiple times while doing a calendar shoot for a sponsor both of them have. As the three meet up at a teammates wedding, sparks fly and they all confess that they have feelings for each other. They all agree to take things slow, because Tenzin and Gwen are both coming off long-term relationship. When unforeseen events take place, Gwen needs to bare her soul to Clark and Tenzin and pray they won’t leave her when they find out what she has done. This book was so good, and the cliffhanger was just mean. I can’t wait to read part two!

Holy cliffhanger. JK it is really not that bad of a cliffhanger. Readers will always want more. I felt like this was a good stopping point. Not that I am telling Ms. Handler to take her time with Part Two. I need that quickly, please. Gwen "Ladybug" Rossi is a beta goalie that has been through a lot. She is working with the Knight through their EBUG program and working hard to survive. Just when things were starting to look up for her, the rug was pulled out from under her again. Gwen's long-term boyfriend left her with nothing. All of this was done after she had worked hard to get him through school and a hockey program only for him not to get drafted. Gwen had to figure out a way to make it on her own with no help. She could not open up the can of worms that led to her family. She was determined to make it no matter the cost.
Gwen made some good friends along the way on and off the ice. Gwen knew the Knights and the Maimers. She was very close to Mercy. The level of depth to each of the main characters is very on par with the first duet in the HockeyVerse. Overall, the story of Gwen, Clark and Tenzin is so complex and I just loved every second of the first part of their journey,
Gwen is such a loveable person with unique little quirks and even greater scenes of her working hard as a goalie. She isn’t a completely flawless person and it makes her seem even more real to the readers at times. Even with all the trauma and hardships she had to go through, she finds so many great things to look forward to and has so many people backing her up.
Clark is a bit of a nerd but he’s so charming and oh so devoted to Gwen, hockey, and the Defenders League. Reading his interactions with Gwen has me under the impression that he really is her ride or die. I was very shocked to learn about some …special hardware 👀 as part of hazing done his rookie year. I loved it.
Tenzin – I love him but I wanted to shake some sense into him. He wasn’t expecting Clark and Gwen to sweep him off his feet so soon after his breakup but, bro, COMMUNICATE!!! I did understand his need to be the best version of himself for them but he went about it a little on the iffy side of logic. Gwen was willing to work on her best self with him as part of their little throuple.
As a whole, this part of the duet was like a sundae. The funny quotes and memorable moments were the cherry on top. The whipped cream and hot fudge were the healthy amount of drama for our characters and the ice cream was our little developing throuple. I could take it a step further and say that the decorative bowl was the developing plotlines that are just cradling all of these delicious elements.

Ohhhhh Ladybug is SOOOO cute! 🥰 I want to be best friends with her! She goes through some rough times but works SO HARD and brings so much light to the world (and she doesn’t even realize). Absolutely TONS of things happen in this book. But to me, there are two standout attributes that I want to point out. The delicious slow-build of a friends to lovers relationship (x2), and a FABULOUS hockey game!
This book has a lovely slow build of budding friendships and romance. 💘 It is really very sweet. Like a warm hug. Expect lots of dates, lots of getting to know each other, and falling in love.
My second favorite part is the first hockey game of the season. I am not a sports girl (other than sports romance reading that is), but this is a GREAT read of a hockey game (from someone who knows little about hockey). It felt like I was there and I got so pulled into the action. The detail and descriptiveness was enough that I, as someone who has never been to a hockey game, totally understood what was happening and LOVED every minute of it! I think this was really well done.
This is part one of a duet and ends with a cliffhanger (part 2 to be released May 1 per the ‘zon). Do I love that I have to wait to resolve? Hahah no, but isn’t it sometimes fun to commiserate with friends that we NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!?! At least we won’t have to wait too long 😅.

Beautiful! BEAUTIFUL!!!
There is so much that I feel needs to be said that I think it’s better to use bullet points. So, we have:
- A YA/Why Choose (MMF) with a mention of MM - hopefully, in the next book of the duet, we’ll get more MM (they and ME deserve it);
- HokeyVerse without shifters, but with the best of the omegaverse;
- The sweetest but also the most bad-ass FMC;
- The most wonderful MMC’s - the knotwaffles don’t count!;
- Friends to lovers and great friendships;
- Second chances, for ourselves and for love;
- So many funny and sweet moments, but also some dark topics;
- So much sports - the author created a glossary with terms to better understand this world;
- A slow to medium burn, mostly because there’s a need to heal broken hearts and hopes before becoming open to new possibilities;
- So damn inspiring!
It’s a fantasy parallel universe, with so many similarities to ours. The feelings, the expectations, the friendships, the heartbreaks, the bad situations and bad people, and the love.
This book was a beautiful and sweet read, but at the same time, so sad. When she felt so lonely and couldn’t ask for help or say what she needed, because she didn’t want to be a burden to anyone. When it seemed like it was one bad news after another. That brought tears to my eyes.
But they are so right for each other, and they are lovely people.
And, for me, the icing on the cake is the passion and connection she has with animals. It’s the best thing!

Jane Handler has absolutely nailed the start of this duet. Loving Ladybug, Part One is an emotional, spicy, and heartfelt omegaverse Why Choose hockey romance that delivers slow-burn chemistry, found family, and a heroine you’ll want to root for from page one.

Between recovering from heartbreak, navigating secrets from her past, and trying to find her place on and off the ice, Gwen’s journey is full of grit and growth. I loved watching her bond deepen with sunshine-forward Clark and strong, guarded Tenzin—two alphas with very different energy but equally swoon-worthy in their own ways. The slow burn between Gwen and Tenzin is deliciously tense, while her dynamic with Clark is soft, flirty, and full of quiet support.
This is a romance that balances character development and spice beautifully. Loving Ladybug was a cute hockey romance! It’s slow-burn in the romance department as well as just the overall progression of the plot. A lot of time is taken to set up the foundation of the friendships between Gwen, Clark, and Tenzin, but it’s absolutely needed as the lines begin to blur and solidify into something more romantic.
I really enjoyed the darker elements that were tackled in Loving Ladybug as it really helped to build the characters and explain their actions and behaviors. Tenzin and Clark are both the absolute cutest and I can’t wait to see how things evolve with this threesome. I was a little hesitant to read an omegaverse with no omega, but other than being overly reminded that Gwen is a Beta, it reads a little more like a why-choose hockey romance.
While I still had some issues with the dialogue and inner monologue at times, it was significantly less so than I did in Finding the Forward; the writing was noticeably improved and I have no doubt it will only continue to improve!
Oh my lanta, that cliffing cliff! Being a duet with a promised cliffhanger after Part One, I knew it was coming and yet I’m still just dangling here and can’t wait for Part Two to get some resolution! The last 7 chapters or so I was on the very edge of my seat and wasn’t exactly sure how things were going to end up. I feel like so much happened in those final chapters - it was action-packed! Part Two can’t come soon enough!

He is funny, passionate, and very protective of his friends. He is also the new player on Gwen's hockey team, leading them to having these little moments. All Clark wants is a chance with not only Gwen but Tenziz as well.

So Cute
This is the third book in this world of interconnected standalones. I loved the first two (a duet) but you don’t have to read them at all to read this one although I highly recommend it since the characters pop up in here and there are small spoilers for the first book but considering they are romance genre I don’t consider them spoilers. Gwen is a beta goalie and has sacrificed a lot for her relationship with her alpha. She puts him first because he is older and she has more time to prove herself in college (or so he says). When he isn’t given a contract he just vanishes and leaves her high and dry. She realizes that not everything was quite as it seemed way too late. She tries really hard to make it on her own without asking anyone for help but quickly learns even though she got burned by her ex it is okay to relay on the right people. I loved seeing the character growth and the love story between all the characters. This author is great at bringing a well rounded world building while still keeping the story going at a steady pace. I am a bit angry at Tenzin though. He is a great guy with a lot to sort through but he needs to be more open to the ones that care about him and be less selfish. I am anxiously waiting on the conclusion to see Gwen get her HEA she deserves.

Her boyfriend at the time, Austin, is a terrible Alpha who doesn’t have the talent to make it on his own. After not getting called up to the PHL, Austin takes all of his anger out on Gwen. There is DV on page in this book, so please be cautious if this is a trigger for you!!

Gwen is a beta and an EBUG (Emergency Back-Up Goalie) for the Knights (she was introduced in the first duet), who has been working her butt off for years between school, hockey, work, practices, coaching littles...AND was in a 5-yr relationship with Austin - another hockey player who played for another local college.
Unfortunately, he didn't turn out to be the good guy she thought he was and her life turns upside-down.
Clark is a player for the Knights and has been a friend to Gwen even though he's had a slight crush on her but she'd been taken. Tenzen is a new transfer to the team. Both of them become incredibly important to her.

So...I'd actually consider this fairly slow-burn as they don't move their relationships into anything physical for quite some time and when they do, it's not often. I'm totally fine with this because there's a decent amount of story to get through.
Gwen is a beta...and am I awful to hope that she turns into an omega? She has so many tendencies! Plus, it said she was given illegal hormones. And is it terrible that I kinda wish there was MORE than just the two guys? I don't think it specified his age, but I wish that Constantine got involved. He seemed really sweet to her and I *honestly* think that could work. But based on the description, I don't think there will be anymore guys added.
