Hell to Pay

Rate this book
Once upon a time, three men almost destroyed me.
Now they're the only ones who can save me.

Living with the three men who ruined me in high school was supposed to be temporary, a refuge from the trafficking ring hunting me.

But that was before I fell into their web of passion and danger.

Nolan
is the medic obsessed with hearing the beat of my faulty heart - and he has a secret of his own.

In the middle of the night, I can always find Jude, drawing me in his sketchbook, ready to hold me until I can sleep.

And then there’s Rafe, who has demons of his own. I just didn’t know I was the biggest one of all.

Now I’m at war with a shadowy world of powerful people who want me dead — and the Blackwell Bastards are the only thing standing between us.

Trusting the three men who ruined my life wasn’t on my Bingo card.

But loving them?

Loving them may kill us all.

Plot: 4/5 • Smut: 3/5 ———-> This picks up where book 1 ends off. She’s rescued from the boat by the three guys. Thankfully. Back on the mainland, there’s drama with figuring out the flash drive, her brother and rafe (finally!!).
Smut is good. Nice and aggressive with Rafe. Just what we like to read.

Another GLORIOUS HIT by Sadie Hunt! She can’t MISS! If you loved the movie Point break with Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves and the show Animal Kingdom you are going to love these books! I’m telling you now if you are sleeping on her books you really need to add the, all to your TBR asap! This is book 2 in the third trilogy of her Blackwell Saga! The first trilogy Aventine University behind with Kings & Corruption and I recommend you start there and read each trilogy in order. That being said the order goes Kings & Corruption, Kings & Chaos, then Kings & Carnage. The next trilogy is for the Blackwell Beasts and that starts with Gather the Storm, Pay the Price, then To the Grave. Then you’re on to the Blackwell B@stards trilogy which begins with Into the Fire and now He!l to Pay, the last book will be Shame the Devil and it’s due out this summer!

Now that I’ve said all that, to continue with the review of this book. This book picks up immediately after the events from Into the Fire which left you on a cliff hanger where the FMC Lilah is in peril and it’s up to the MMC’s to find her and rescue her if they can. The three MMC’s the B@stards are Rafe, Nolan and Jude. This book centers on Jude and Lilah;s growth primarily but there are some deliciously wonderful scenes with Rafe that you NEED in your life.

The quartet has stumbled upon something awful happening with the women of Blackwell falls and they are using all their resources and navy seal training to get to the bottom of this mystery.

These books have it ALL y’all why choose, reverse harem, bullies turned lovers , possessive / obsessive , alpha holes, touch her and , bad b energy FMC that can take care of herself , also disability reps we have one insulin dependent diabetic and one with a heart condition. Trust me you will not regret diving into Sadie’s world with her fmc’s and MMC’s. Plus I have it on good authority this will not be the end of the men and women we see from Blackwell. A 4th trilogy is in the works!

Overall this book like all of her books for me 5⭐️ auto buy author and ohhhhhh weeeee the spice is so nice a whopping 5🌶️ ! Don’t sleep on the books in this universe you need to add to your TBR! Bonus they are all on KU And most of them even have audio books ! Check Sadie out on socials as well for teasers and more @sadiehuntromance on TT @authorsadiehunt on IG

First, I’m beyond honored to have received an ARC of this amazing book by the amazing Sadie Hunt.

Welp! Now I’m over here feeling all the feels from 0 - 100 and back again several times.

It’s hot like burning with heavy hits of what in the world, and tied up with a bit of oooh baby!

Another cliffhanger that I had to take deep breaths over and remind myself that all will be well soon. There’s another book.

Just be patient.

Just be patient.

What we do we do? We just…

I need it now!!!! 😫

If it’s possible this one is even hotter, more angsty and has me on the edge of my seat for the third book.

I also can’t pick a man from the three of them. It feels taboo to choose between them especially in a reverse harem. They’re all 🔥 & ♥️ in their own way.

Lucky, lucky girl!! 🍀 😏

Anyone else wanna take a jump…Into the Fire where there’ll be Hell to Pay?

Thank you so much, Sadie for the arc!

I was reeling from the cliffhanger of the first one, only to devour this and get a cliffhanger for the next one. 😂
I'll tell you what, though: it was worth it!!

We pick up where we left off, Lilah being kidnapped and the guys making a plan on how to rescue her.
Of course, being kidnapped is just a speed bump on their investigation of looking at what happened to the missing girls.
There's so much happening here, between the different guys, Lilah's brother, missing girls, and the guy's pasts.
I love how everything is connected, and with each branch of the stories, it adds more to the puzzle.

The tension and suspense was amazing, and once I started this book, I did not want to quit!

I was so excited for this book. I experienced so many emotions when I read this one. One thing after another kept happening and kept me binging this whole thing. I loved all the spice that was portrayed. I loved seeing all the men fall for lilah and her the same. The family drama was definitely interesting as well for all of them. The cliffhanger was super unexpected and I can’t wait for the next book

WONDERFULLY THRILLING!!

INTOXICATING!!.
From beginning to end, the second book in the Blackwell Bastards trilogy consumed me completely. I couldn’t put this book down and it was beyond what I anticipated.
I was so fascinated and intrigued with how Lilah and Rafe’s connection was developing into something deeper and passionate.

Every moment of Hell To Pay had me in a chokehold, waiting for Rafe to finally tell Lilah how he really felt/feels about what happened in the past and what he feels for her now.
Let me say that it was worth the wait!! When he and Lilah come together it is BURNING HOT!!
Lilah is discovering that each of the Bastards brings something profoundly important to her. Just like Nolan, Jude and Rafe are realizing how each of them needs, wants and desires Lilah’s warmth, strength and love.
Protecting Lilah reaches a next level intensity when she and the Bastards prepare themselves for a dangerous event.
Get ready to be captivated and enticed with a certain scene that was wonderfully sinful yet so intimately powerful.
The twist and turns are EXHILARATING, the danger eminent and the story unfolding is HIGHLY entertaining, thrilling and alluring.
So lose yourselves in this enemies to lovers, why choose romance with characters that are EXTREMELY interesting, deliciously naughty, and incredibly engaging. Their story is UTTERLY ADDICTIVE, with a cliffhanger that leaves us not only wanting but needing Shame The Devil.

A truly IMPRESSIVE story written by a remarkably creative and talented writer.

Holy cliff hanger!!!!

Okay, Sadie, I'm glad I waited for the next book before reading the first and second.

As they leave the boat, her AVS is making her slow. They get her meds into her and take care of her. After rescuing Lilah, the group returned home, with a hard drive she stole before leaving the yacht.

Encrypted, they get it to Gage and wait. Matt, Lilah's brother, calls and she runs to get him, bringing him back to the Bastard's house. She tells him just what is necessary. However, Matt finds out who they are from a boy at school and he runs off, telling her he is disgusting.

Rafe gets Lilah a knife to replace the one she lost in Greece. He then gets her two pieces of equipment for use in the gym. A fight dummy and a target for sharpening her knife skills. This leads to a showdown between them and the apology she wanted.

The hard drive is cracked open and once the information is revealed, they discover their is an "MdM" coming up in Paris. So, off to Paris they go to infiltrate the party.

Secret identities, Lilah's branded barcode, and outside assists gets them in. She's called to the stage second and after being on display, performing for the bidders, the group is outed and on the run.

Nolan passes out because the dumb ass didn't take his insulin. They escape, even though Lilah saw Rain, the girl she saw kidnapped from the bar.

Onward to book three.

SPOILERS!! I received an ARC copy of this book for my honest review. Hell To Pay is the second book in the series of the Blackwell Bastards. This book picks up right where book one left off; with our main girl Lilah captured and the 3 men searching for her. The guys are willing to do whatever it takes to get their girl back. The action in this book definitely stepped up and kept me turning the pages quicker than the first one, which i didn't think possible! In this book, we get to see more of Lilah becoming more confident, see her with her younger brother, Matt and see how he handles Lilah living with her past tormentors. We get more into the search for the missing/taken girls, which I love seeing Lilah so passionate about. We also get to see the relationships between Lilah and each man grow, as well as all 4 of them growing their relationship together. Rafe started to finally come around to the fact that he does have feelings for Lilah, and strong ones at that. Rafe finally coming out to Lilah with the truth was such a special scene to read. The spice in this book was 100/10. SOOOO GOOD, too many times did I want to put the book down because it isn't fair that I don't have my own Nolan, Jude and Rafe ;) This book ended on ANOTHERRRR cliffhanger (Sadie, girl, please you are seriously edging me here) and I absolutely cannot stress how badly I need the next book.

And again, I could not put this book down! Sadie has yet to dissapoint me. 5 stars all the way around!

Hell To Pay is the second book in the Blackwell Bastards trilolgy. If you have not read Into The Fire this review will contain spoilers.

We jump right back to the Greek Isles, where Lilah has left the Bastards to accept the invitaion she recieved. Once the Bastards realize she's gone, without her phone and meds, they begin to formulate a plan to find their girl. Spoiler - they rely on their special ops training, and successfully rescue their girl.

Back home in Blackwell Falls, we see Lilah's connections with Jude, Nolan and even Rafe progress. The Bastards are able to see Lilah interact with her brother, Matt, and even take some time to get to know him. Things seem to be going well, until their pasts come back to all haunt them, and their investigation amps up.

Between the problems with Lilah's family, their investigation into the missing girls, and Lilah's heart condition are they strong enough to survive their next move, and the secret one of the Bastards is keeping?

I recieved an ARC in return for my honest review.

Hell to Pay by Sadie Hunt is a fantastic continuation of Lilah’s story, and I loved seeing how much she’s grown since the start of the series. In this installment, Lilah feels more settled and secure in her relationship with Nolan and Jude. The dynamic between the three of them is stronger than ever, and it’s clear they’ve found a rhythm that works, both emotionally and romantically.

One of the highlights for me was watching Lilah gain confidence in herself and her path. She’s not just reacting to the chaos around her anymore—she’s actively making choices and standing up for what she wants. This newfound self-assurance makes her an even more compelling protagonist and had me rooting for her every step of the way.

I also appreciated the deeper character growth from Rafe. His relationship with Lilah is explored more fully, adding new layers to both characters. Rafe’s development brings out a different side of Lilah, and their interactions are some of the most emotionally charged moments in the book.

Overall, Hell to Pay delivers on character growth, relationship development, and emotional depth. If you’ve been following Lilah’s journey, this book is a must-read!

Another riveting, heart pounding, spellbinding drama filled thrill ride! After being rescued, Lilah is now living her new normal but with an edge of danger!. As Lilah and her men dig deeper into the missing girls, her discovery gets darker. Rafe has finally bared his soul to Lilah and they are fire together. Lilah’s chemistry with all of her men is electric and it’s clear they have no plans to let her leave if they can help it. The Bastard’s main goal is to serve, service and protect Lilah by any means necessary. Their mission to uncover the depth of the trafficking ring leads them into the lion’s den, literally! It’s a level of depravity and debauchery that they’ve never seen and in the midst of it all, the Bastards come face to face with a ghost from their past. Things are about to get more complicated and a lot more steamy I suspect. After all, Lilah has three men who will protect and pleasure her. Why choose? Sadie, this series is on fire 🔥! Waiting impatiently for the next book 📕

Wow. This is the second book in this series and if you have never read any of Sadie’s books you are missing out. The book starts from the cliffhanger of the first book, Into the fire, there is action from the off. The character development and the relationship between Lilah, the FMC and her “bastards” Nolan, Jude and Rafe, the MMCs is amazing. You get drawn into their lives and they feel real. Each of the four main characters have been hurt in their past and learning to move forward and work as a team is captivating. Be prepared for an emotional roller coaster, I have laughed and cried along with these characters. Lilah’s fractured relationship with her family plays a part in this book and it’s heartbreaking to read her brother’s part of the story. This book finishes with another cliffhanger leaving me pining for book 3s release. If you, like me, love RH but want an exciting back story as well as the steamy bits, Sadie’s books are for you. 5 stars is not enough. AMAZING

Arc review of Hell to Pay

Not a fever, or sickness was going to stop me reading the arc copy I got of Hell to pay...

I needed answers from the giant cliffhanger we got from the first book of the series, with one eye open and a cold cloth on my forehead. I got the answers I needed and more.

The spice was soooo good,
I don't know if it was the fever or the spice that made me have to drink a lot of cold water or what (no, it was definitely the spice !!)

We get to know the characters more in this book, and the more we get to know them, the more I feel for them.

We also get to know the reason why the bastards did what they did back in high school,

I felt that the reason the Bastards gave to Lilah was understandable today with what we know of their history, especially Rafe's story.

So, after weeks of torment from the cliffhanger from the first book, we, of course, get another huge cliffhanger in this book <3

Ms. Hunt has done it again. Best RH stories available. This the second book in a trilogy, and doesn't disappoint. FYI, it does end on a cliffhanger bigger than the first book. So FMC, Lilah is still living with the guys but she gets a frantic call from her younger brother, Matt, and rushes to pick him up and they both stay with the 3 guys. He bonds with guys until he finds out who they really are, the guys that messed up her life in high school. That's about all I can say without spoilers. Nolan, Jude and Rafe are are cut from the same mold as the Kings and Beasts, whom they know superficially . I loved the fact that Lilah's bonds with the guys are getting so much stronger even Rafe, who has been a d to her. Especially love that Jude is an artist, and so am I. I received an advanced Arc copy for my honest review.

Oh My 5 Stars!🌟

Sadie Hunt has a way with words & way of story telling that drags you in & sends you off to a world of mystery & spice! In this book she has managed to unfold more of her 4 amazing characters and open up a whole new world of dodgy human behaviour that sends our fab 4 into an intense web of “the plot thickens!” storyline.

I adore how Sadie creates characters with depth & the MFC has courage & strength. Her style of writing flows & is easy to imagine the places & scenarios that she writes about. The spice is awesome and creative.

I am really loving this series and can’t wait to read the next book to see how far this story goes! It ticks all my boxes, Spice, timeline & flowing storyline, interesting characters and story & of course alt POV’s & well written!

This is book two in the Blackwell Bastards series. These are a continuation of the Aventine University and Blackwell Beasts series. Possible spoilers ahead, we pick back up with Lilah being abducted and the Bastards trying to get her back and more back story on what’s happening with the missing girls of Blackwell Falls. We continue to have more daring feats by all and each character having their own internal dramas amongst each other, Jude with his family, Nolan with his medical secrets, Rafe with his internal demons, and Lilah with her brother and all the Bastards. They continue to search for the missing girls and end on a cliff hanger again to set us up for book #3. These books are always action packed, with some mystery and intrigue, and a lot of spice. What’s not to love? I am eagerly awaiting book three.

I received an ARC copy of this book and let me tell you…I am one lucky gal. Sadie is one of my favorite authors and these Bastards…scorching. This picks up right where the last book left us and is GO GO GO from there. RAFE…Oh my lovely, hard headed RAFE. I KNEW it would be earth moving when you finally gave in and oh did you not disappoint. He explains it all…the why they did what they did and it shows how long he’s cared for Lilah. Lilah loves these men, all of them, even if she won’t admit it. Sadie, you truly did it yet again. I knew this was a cliffhanger going in but I had no clue the “how” and holy moly. I sure hope they succeed in taking that son of a you know what DOWN! Can’t WAIT for the final book to know what’s up!

I’m so happy I received an ARC for this book! I absolutely love all of Sadie’s books and all of the Blackwell people (well not all of them… just our favorite “bad guys”) I just finished up this book and it was so good. The way she keeps you on your toes and hits you with the curveballs. (I’m trying not to give spoilers but may so stop reading now) one particular curve ball at the end I didn’t even suspect but probably should have. I love the relationship development with the main characters and I can’t wait to see more of that along with the relationship between lilah and her brother. I really want to see where that goes. Overall I loved this book and Sadie has continued to live up to the standards she’s set in her books. Can’t wait for the final book!!

Another crack in a broken heart mended, a villian revealed, another guy wrenching fu©king cliffhanger Sadie 😂 This ending made me catch my breath like when we lost Jace back in Blackwell Falls.
There's so much healing that's happening all while building more respect and unbreakable bonds page by page.

I love how imperfectly perfect Lilah is written in this book , "Her waist was narrow compared to the pillowy fullness of her hips, the solid strength of her thighs."
Her outside matches her inside. She's soft, sensitive but solid and strong in her character and spirit.

Rafe, thank you for putting your cards on the table.
Nolan, I'm gonna need you to get an insulin pump 😂

They are all so beautifully broken and perfect for each other.

I received Hell to Pay, Book 2 in the Blackwell Bastards Series, as an ARC Copy. Book 1 left us on a wicked cliffhanger, wondering if Lilah would be saved by the Bastards. Hell to Pay picks up right at this point and keeps you on your toes the whole book. I sped through this book just like all of Sadie's Others, and the Fire Lilah and her Bastards have towards each other continues throughout Hell To Pay. I loved getting to see more of Lilah's acceptance of her past and the hard times she has with her family in this book. I also love the connections that continue to grow between Lilah, Nolan, Jace, and Rafe. You continue to see the fight Lilah has with the Imperium Fraternum and this book ends in a doozy of a cliffhanger and already has me waiting on edge for Book 3

Riddles and Regret

In the second installment of the Bastard trilogy we take a deeper dive into the missing girls from Blackwell Falls and find the situation runs deeper than what was originally estimated. Who is the ultimate ringleader behind the atrocities happening to these missing girls?
This book gives us more character development and we see the reasons behind the whole ordeal that changed Lilahs life as well as the challenges the guys still face. Can she forgive Rafe for causing her downfall because his reasoning was that of a young boy and he never saw the repercussions that would come of it.
As always these books are so well written with a rich storyline. I can't wait for the next and final book in this trilogy.

This book was so good - full of Spice & Suspense!

We pick up right where Book 1's cliffhanger left us! We dig deeper into the mystery of the missing girls, and learn more about the guys motivations for what they did to Lilah in high school. (Being vague to avoid spoilers!) Lilah comes out of her shell a bit more, and starts to shed some of the religious guilt from her childhood. We also learn about the secret that Nolan has been keeping from Lilah - which leads to the cliffhanger in this book!

Rafe & Lilah finally give in to the tension between them, and Lordy it was HOT!! I desperately need to see all 4 of them together!

This was another fantastic book in the Blackwell Falls overall world. I am so anxiously waiting for Book 3 to find out how this group's story ends up!

Amazing! All of Sadie Hunt’s books are amazing!
Lilah is such a great character and it great to see her gaining more confidence and learning to let the guys help her and protect her.
The gym scene between Lilah and Rafe was just so good!
The situation they put themselves in is crazy!! Sometimes I think Lilah is incredibly stupid and other times I think she’s incredibly brave! But that’s the beauty of her character. She puts herself at risk to help others.
The cliffhanger in this one is not as bad as the last one but I’m dying to know what happens next!!
I recommend all of Sadie Hunt’s books! You won’t be disappointed!

I was on the edge of my seat almost the entire time that I was reading this book. This is the second book in what will be a trilogy so as with book one (Into the Fire) it ends on a cliff hanger. This book picks up where book one ended and I could feel the turmoil the characters experienced. There is continued character growth, especially with Rafe and Lilah, was perfect. I couldn't put this book down and read it in a morning. If you like why choose, we'll crafted worlds, incredible characters, and a lot of plot with your romance then consider giving this book a read. I did receive this as an ARC but I had already pre ordered the book.

OMG🥵 so this the second book in the series and I ate up every page. I love how strong lilah has became. Finally and I mean finally Rafa got it together and delivered for lilah. Lilah did make a mistake in not confining in the guys but luckily it was a good outcome. Now they have made a decision that has caused a certain set of eyes to be on them. A man from the guys past and not a very good guy. We’re still uncovering secrets from the disappearance of the girls one step closer to unraveling everything. But Sadie does what Sadie does and leaves on a cliffhanger where we can potentially lose one of our guys..

5 STARS for Hell to Pay by Sadie Hunt

This is Book 2 of Blackwell Bastards

A dark new adult why choose romance. Ms Hunt does another amazing job with this why choose or maybe I should say how could you possibly choose read! The guys ( Nolan , Jude & Rafe ) have such unique personalities but they seem pretty perfect for Lilah.

Hell to Pay is not a standalone it’s a page turner from start to finish. The chemistry and tension of the characters just gets to you as a reader - my mind just wants to know what happens next!

I received this book from the author and this is my honest review. I can’t wait to see what happens next !

Dammit Sadie!!! What’s not to love about Lilah and her three men?!

Where do I even start?! The second book takes us on an adventure on finding the missing girls. The girls nobody seems to care about. But Lilah is determined on figuring out what’s happening to them. Which means she’s spending more time with the guys. And boy, does she spend time with them!

I love how small details start coming together in a fantastic way and completely blow up what I thought was going to happen. I knew there was going to be a cliffhanger. But I was not expecting that!!

Incredibly written ❤️ Thank you Ms. Sadie for giving us these people to live through!

Sadie does it again! The chaos that is this book was amazing. The angst and the passion was off the charts. The cliffhanger at the end was insanity. The FMC has three men that truly have gone to war for her and will stop at nothing to see her happy. Rafe is fierce and wild. Nolan is gentle and patient. Jude is sexy and calming. And Lilah? Lilah is a force and she doesn’t even know it yet. These men are going to burn it down for her and she’s going to come out glowing like she should have been her whole life and I am 100% here for it.

I love this series, tbh I’ve loved every series Sadie has written, but this may be my favourite.
Lilah’s relationships deepen so much with all the guys, I loved her defence of Jude at the dinner and the gym scene with Rafe was some of the hottest chapters I’ve read in a long time.
I felt so many emotions while reading this, happiness when Matt reached out, heat and dampness (in a certain area) whilst reading, especially, chapter 43 and worry and the need to scold a certain someone re medication!!
After all this and a villain reveal, I need the last book like I need my next breath!
