All it took was one promise.

Loxley

We were kids when our pact was made, but that didn't stop Atlas Kingsley from coming for me.
Now, he's going to stop at nothing until he has me.
Little does he know, I'm onto him and not afraid of becoming his.

Atlas

She was the light.
Obsession is a strong urge that took root deep within me the first time I spotted Loxley Bennett.
Her easy smile and bubbly personality drew me in from the start, cementing her presence in my unfortunate life.
But after we're separated, I take my time paving a perfect path to lead her back to me once all my loose ends are tied up.
Now is the actual test. Can love really tame a beast? Or will the woman I've dreamed of for the last twelve years take one look at my job and run for the hills?

She can try to escape me, but she won't get far.

This is a dark romance novel with a HEA. Heavy trigger warnings are listed at the beginning of the book.

Is there such a thing a cozy dark romance?

This book was a lot of fun, but it really dipped at the end. I’m not sure why, but the other group targeting her didn’t make sense. Like how did they even know? It felt like drama just because. It didn’t need it. Still a fun read.

“If we weren’t made for each other, I would have made you into mine. We were always destined to end up here because I made sure our lives were intertwined. You never would have escaped me.”

I think I may have found my new genre: dark rom-com.
These stalker boys really come in with the dark humor.

Killer Confections - A+L

“Listen to me, Loxley. I told you years ago that you belonged to me. You’ve always been mine, Short Stack. This was inevitable.”
“Oh, my god. You’re crazy.”
“Diagnosed and all.”

Atlas Kinglsey and Loxley Bennett were meant to be. These are two souls that gravitated towards each other, through their pains, through their souls, through their destinies.

Killer Confections - broken boy

“If we weren’t made for each other, I would have made you into mine. We were always destined to end up here because I made sure our lives were intertwined. You never would have escaped me.”

And with that, bring on the next book because these crazy Kingsley siblings are a riot!
Let's delve into Rowan Kingsley past. And add a sassy best friend to that mix.

Title: Killer Confections
Author: Juliet Coven
Release Date: 31st July 2025
Length: 347 pages
Genre: Dark Romance | Mafia/Assassin | Stalker Romance

Review:
Killer Confections is a dark, twisted, and addictively bloody romance that blends obsessive devotion with high-stakes danger. Juliet Coven delivers a deliciously dark stalker romance with a slow-burn emotional arc, a found family made up of assassins, and a morally grey MMC who is absolutely feral in his love.

Atlas and Loxley’s relationship is built on a childhood bond, but their reconnection is laced with blood, secrets, and unrelenting obsession. The dual timeline format works beautifully, letting us feel the weight of their connection and the intensity of Atlas’s fixation. Loxley herself is a great contrast — soft-hearted but strong, sunshine in a world soaked in red.

If you enjoy:

Childhood friends to soulmates

Found family (stabby edition)

He falls first (and never lets go)

Obsessive MMCs

Mafia/assassin themes

Dark romance with grit and gore

…then this will absolutely scratch that itch.

Content Warnings:
Graphic sexual content, stalking, CNC/dubcon, murder, gore, kinks, obsessive behaviour, childhood trauma. Proceed with caution if dark romance isn’t your usual read.

Final Thoughts:
A gripping story with strong pacing and unforgettable characters. If you love unhinged MMCs who’d burn the world for their FMC — this one’s for you. Can’t wait to see what Book 2 brings!

Oh Atlas where have you been my whole life?

What a delicious, possessive, alpha male you are.

Great story, awesome characters, plenty of spicy spice.

Looking forward to the next story.

I absolutely LOVED this book so much! Loxley and Atlas are absolutely perfect for each other. He's just the right amount of possessive stalker, and she's a sweet and innocent girl with a bite to her personality. Their love story had me hooked. I can't wait to see what the next book has in store.

I could NOT put this book down!!
It's rare that I come across an erotic book that has a delicious and substantial plot. I want to open a bakery. I want to be an assassin. I want to do that freaky stuff Loxley and Atlas were getting up to at the family BBQ.

This story is action packed, and hot as hell. One second your heart is racing from the thrill of organized crime and the next it's because a masked hottie has his fingers performing an irish jig in her knickers. Did I forget to mention that? He has a damn BALACLAVA ON HIS FACE for the first like, 50% of the book. Even in public. But he didn't care because it was all a part of the game. A game I humbly request an invite to next round, thank you.

The witty one liners, hilarious banter, and all around clever humor is what bumped this book to its 5th star for me. If a book can make me horny, cry AND laugh, there really isn't much more I could ask for.

Thank you, Miss Coven. Please write more, reality is setting in and I don't think I can take much more of it.

This books was a total page turner for me whenever I got the chance to read it in pockets of time. Atlas a total bad ass and total softy as well. Everything flowed perfectly and fit perfectly. I love that they were friends who both wanted more didn’t say anything till she moved and he promised to find her again. He finally does and all the things he does. I want a man like Atlas when I grow up. I will absolutely be adding this to my stack of books I will reread again and again.

I really love Atlas and I love Lox and Atlas as a couple.while their story was good, it could have been better. the flashbacks to their first meetings/hanging out/etc was necessary. thinking it out I realize that it was a perfect amount of flashback to gather their connection.

I just feel like the last 60?% of the bookfelt rushed. Like the author just wasn't fully into it anymore and just wanted to get the story done. I thought several times there was going to have to be a part 2 to finish it all out but obviously it wasn't.

I just feel like there could've been more all around the plot and maybe we'll see more world building in the next book but I'm afraid it will take up too much plot and it will be rushed again.

overall it was good enough for me to want to read the next one

What red flags...!?

Dark romance is my current obsession and this one did not disappoint. I'm so glad I had the chance to read this book because it was exactly what I was craving. I was instantly pulled in by the story and characters. I enjoyed the writing, this world was created with such detail. Check your TW there are many intense scenes.

I love an obsessed man and that is exactly what Atlas is. For 11 years he's carried a torch for her and now it's finally time to make his move to possess and claim her. He's led a difficult life being raised by assassins made him the ruthless man he had to become to survive. Stalker mode activated full throttle.

Loxley is pure sunshine, wears her heart on her sleeve but is resilient. After all these years she never forgot about the boy she once knew and promised to keep her. She is the perfect sweet to balance him.

I loved how they met as teens, the dual timelines, and POVs. Loxley made such a profound impact on Atlas. She's been the only light in his mind and life for the past 11 years while he made preparations necessary to keep her. They're chemistry and connection are intense and HOT. I love how protective he is even if he's unhinged and morally-grey.

I can't wait for more from this series.

cute and fast

Can’t wait for the others stories but I suggest more editing in the future. Simple mistakes made it a little choppy here and there but not enough to stop me from finishing.

Killer Confections was ridiculously amazing from start to finish. The characters were to die for, the pacing was perfect, and the storyline kept me hooked the entire time. I cannot wait for the next book.

I’m obsessed with Atlas and Loxley. Their relationship bloomed beautifully, only to be ripped apart when she was forced to leave. Then Atlas comes back—slow, deliberate, but absolutely intense.

The way he stalked her, sent her gifts, even installed a security system in her home to keep eyes on her…I ate it UP. He was so unhinged in the best possible way. 🖤

Easily a 6-star read.

When it comes to possessive, obsessive stalkers, Atlas ranks pretty high on the leaderboard, which is exactly why I appreciated the glimpse into his and Loxley’s shared past before things really kicked off. Without that context, I probably would’ve chalked him up as completely psychotic😅 I mean, what kind of man thinks terrorizing his girl is a love language? Loxley should be on cloud nine. She’s living her dream, finally opening her own bakery, and basking in the sweet satisfaction of success. But that cozy bubble bursts when a shadowy stalker who’s always watching, always lurking, enters the picture. I’ll be honest: this part of the story wasn’t exactly heartwarming, and some of the things Atlas does? Let’s just say… you’ll need to read it yourself to decide where your moral compass lands. Fortunately, Loxley slowly starts piecing things together, and while Atlas never dials down his intensity, their twisted dynamic begins to shift. When Loxley’s suspicions are confirmed, it all literally explodes in a storm of blood and violence, with revelations that go far beyond just unmasking her stalker. I was genuinely surprised at how easily Loxley accepts everything about Atlas, but then again, she’s always been strong, grounded, and fiercely resilient. The supporting cast was a highlight too. Atlas’s sister, Thalia, might actually out-psycho him (if that’s possible), and Loxley’s best friend Addison? Total scene-stealer. The little spark between her and Rowan has me crossing my fingers for their story next. It’s hard to explain how you end up rooting for a man who casually tosses someone off a balcony just for taking Loxley on a date. But somehow, despite the murder, mayhem, and disturbingly obsessive behavior, you find yourself hoping, against all odds, that Atlas and Loxley will get their happily ever after.

I also liked the beginning at school. Such an introduction to their world, which was refreshing. I wouldn't even mind if it continued in this vein...although after reading the book I'm actually glad it went the way it did.

I fell in love with Atlas from the first page. I would probably fall for him at any age 🤭 Sweetly deranged. Sweet psychopath. I really eat him. And his absolute absence of a shred of empathy (except for Loxley of course) and "funny" cruelty was not wrong. I was definitely grinning like an idiot the whole story.

Loxley was such a cutie. Her inner conversations and conjectures were hilarious. She was amazing and we would definitely get along.

Engaging, fresh and well written, logical dialogues, and in some places, very funny. I devoured every page. This made my day and night. I had a lot of fun and fell for everyone.
An amazing book. I want more...

Killer confections by Juliet Coven review 📚

Wow ! What a book , I seriously love the way Juliet writes . It literally pulls you in and you feel like you’re in the story . At least that’s the way it feels for me.

This story follows Atlas and Loxley . In a way it’s a second chance stalker dark romance . Atlas is completely unhinged with his stalking and obsessive ways . He is definitely dedicated to his craft .

Loxley is a total baddie in her own way . She wanted something as a child and works her butt off to make it a reality as an adult . And honestly she handles everything so calmly, it’s insane.

The side characters were great as well , always love when an author puts the effort in and makes the side characters as memorable as the mains . Juliet is a genius with that .

Definitely recommend for those who love dark romance it’s an excellent book. Can’t wait to read more from her .

There's a few typos throughout. I absolutely hate that her ~lips~ are referred to as "petals". I'm also not the biggest syndicate or mafia fan, but Atlas had me wrapped around his finger!

Killer Confections (Juliet Coven): A dark sta|ker ass@ssin romance. Instant obsession (11 years prior), a compound/synd¡cate of ass@ssins and their families (MMC is one as well as his siblings), cruel parents/chi|d @buse (seen in flashbacks), MMC rides a motorcycle and has a peirced d¡ck and her name tatted on him, sta|king, invasion of privacy (cameras), breaking and entering, sp@nking, restra¡nt/pa¡n/breath/a$$/public play, edging, thre@ts/attempted abduct¡0n, mûrdêrs, free use, c0ck warming, @bduction, secrets, acts of service/physical touch (MMC), "Good Girl", some good banter and humor throughout, spicy motorcycle scene, undying love (MMC), MMC has a filthy mouth, FMC can be bratty, HEA.

Very good

New author to me

Probably the best m/f romamce that I've read in months. Wow, this was really good. I adored both MMC & the FMC & he was giving me Hayden Bennett from Once you're mine vibes..

What bothered me - dude was obsessed with the fmc for years but never revealed himself at all while he stalked her?
Was he celibate during that entire time? Or in the very least once he found her & started interfering with her life ? It's never brought up AT ALL, so that bothered me a lot.

The fmc totally caved too easily for the mmc, it didnt bother me too much because the mmc wasn't an ass towards her nor did he treat her badly, so I could kinda overlook her being a wet noodle for him all of the time but at some point you just want your girl to have a backbone.

My only real issue with the book is free use - not a fan but that's on me & not something I hold against the author as it was clearly stated in the content warnings.. I was kinda bothered by the MMC telling the FMC that she was his God & he worshipped her etc but in reality he was the God in the relationship with the total power & control & a part of me just hates that.
The FMCs in these books never use a safe word & they never say "not tonight" or let's pause this scene for later, something. At least in my mind I feel that she can never say no & I wanted a scene where she could infact say no, I guess.

Ok, spit is NOT perfectly fine for 1st time anal +he's super endowed & pierced. Rolled my eyes when the fmc felt only a "slight sting ".
Seriously?
Also them having backdoor smex & rather than letting her bathe, they head to a family BBQ- so there's c+m coming out of her a$$ while she's wearing a sundress with no underwear on at a family BBQ just sitting around on chairs...and that's before they have smex right there at a table - which is more like forced voyeurism. Just eeww.

Super intrigued with Rowan & Addison & assume they're getting their own book?

It should be mandatory for every dark romance reader to read this book because this book was the epitome of everything that makes a dark romance so f*cking good.

Atlas was just the perfect Mmc.
Morally gray (poor Zack), beyond obsessed (the man straight up WORSHIPPED Loxley) and hot as all hell.
I’m not gonna lie, this motherf*cker made even my lesbian loins tingle.

And Loxley was just amazing too.
So sweet but also so mentally strong and feisty.
Altas’s obsessive devotion to her was 100% understandable and the chemistry between them was absolutely fire.

There was a lot of telling mixed in with the showing though which didn’t personally bother me but might bother someone else and In contrast to how much I loved the romance, I really couldn’t have cared less about the plot outside of it.

Amazing!

So good. Like everything. The plot, the mmc/fmc relationship, the smut, the banter, the mf devotion. Everything hits. I need more. Hell st this point I'm starving for more. I need an Addison and Rowan story...because you cannot leave a girl hanging like that and skip to their happy ending. No no no. I need Dom and Bailey's story because you cannot legitimately tell me Bailey and Liam end up together when there is so much LONGING between B and D. And yes, I need someone to win Thalia over and give her her happiness so she can stop being so damn bitter about love. Read this book. Put it on your tbr, read it, fall in love, and join my hysteria.

OMG!! All consuming!! couldn’t put it down

"Killer Confections" mixes high-stakes assassin action with sweet romance. The story follows a deadly assassin who stalks and reconnects with his childhood sweetheart, leading to a sugary-sweet romance amidst dangerous action.

The blend of genres keeps you hooked, with thrilling action scenes balanced by steamy moments. I loved every side character and desperately want to read their books. My favorite book to read about is assassins! This book is literally “Chiefs Kisses!” I really hope Juliet decides to write about Rowan and Dom.

I would categorize the book as more fun than angst. Is it about an assassin and a baker who first meet in high school then there is an 11 year separation. They only kissed once in high school but we’re both in love with each other but Atlas‘s dad was what’s mean and head of the assassin syndicate in their area. Lots of plot holes and lots of sex. I personally didn’t love the stalker game they played in the beginning. They were separated for so long and I just felt that they would want to reunite right away. Her pretending she didn’t know it was Atlas took away some of the angst.

No other woman, other man trauma, no cheating, neither celibate during separation.

Second chance love with a lot of questionable decisions!!!

Atlas fell first and hard in high school but because of his upbringing and parents, he couldn’t love her publicly. Loxley fell hard before she had to move but never forgot him. They get a second chance at love when she moves back to Columbus to open up a bakery. But what she doesn’t know is he’s been stalking her all this time. And now his life is putting her in danger. The spice was 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️, the danger was 💀💀💀 and the obsession was off the charts. I giggled, gasped, and swooned the whole book and finished it in 24 hours. I’m definitely moving onto the second book!!!

Not to Dark

I liked the book. Most dark romances these days are overly exaggerated and disgusting. This story was pleasantly surprising. It was realistic to the point of both the MC were real except for MMC job, a killer. I loved how their love for each other never faded. MMC became obsessed but never in a hurtful way. Sex scenes should've been more expanded. The writer is still new to writing and I think as she writes on her books will keep getting stronger. I can't wait to go read Syndicate book #2 and hope she's writing #3 & 4 as I type. I'm excited to see who's starring in them. I hope it's Dom & Bailey and also a book for sister Thalia to conclude this series!!!

This was absolutely addictive to read!!! Umm the MMC Atlas holy hell he is an amazing person even if has some questionable morals lol I truly loved him as a character I wanted more but I was absolutely pleased with how it all tied up in the end. I am so glad I finally started reading this, it had been in my TBR for a bit so I finally was like why not and I am absolutely so over the moon that I did. This my first read from this author and I am excited to see what else they have. Seriously don’t skimp on this one it’s a good good read and you won’t regret it. Even has a bit of comedy lol

Killer Confections by Juliet Coven
Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice - 🌶️🌶️🌶️

This dark stalker assassin romance is irresistibly charming, told from the alternating perspectives of Atlas and Loxley.

Atlas has a chaotic and obsessive fixation on Loxley.

Loxley has a relaxed demeanor, but don't let that fool you – she won't hesitate to stand up for herself when necessary.

Thoughts -
🩸I enjoyed witnessing the development of their bond from its early stages.
🩸We all need someone to take care of our needs, just like Atlas.

I liked it overall but I had a few issues. Spoilers spoilers

1. He stalked her for years after they were separated by her parents' moving away from their school. He never sent her a note or texted. She pined for years.

2. Then he plays a game where he is always masked and won't remove it until she says his name. She knows it is him but says she isn't ready to say his name.

3. They fool around a lot but they didn't have intercourse until pretty far along in the story.

This was a pretty fun read! Atlas and Loxley have been in love since high school, but circumstances forced them apart for several years. Atlas never stopped watching her, and he scoops her up when he feels the time is right. Loxley always knew he and his family were a little different, but she never expected him to be what he was...an assassin. She does struggle with this fact, but she still loves him. The characters had good chemistry and banter. The spicy scenes were very well written. The plot made sense and was interesting. Overall, I really enjoyed this first book in the series, and I will be reading the next book whenever it is released!
