Rate this book
Laura Huntley’s worked hard for her legal career and she dreams of the future lifestyle she and her workaholic boyfriend, Rob, could share. Her bubbly flatmate, Nadia, can’t imagine why she’d want anything else.

When Laura returns to the charming Hampshire village of Tillingham where she grew up, to care for her grandmothers pets, Tibbles the cat and the Coronation Chickens, while Granny’s in Sorrento, she’s dismayed to find that A Little Treat, the village stores and teashop she loved as a girl, is about to close down. Unless the villagers can club together to buy it and turn it into a community shop, it will become another Airbnb and the heart will go out of Tillingham.

Can the committee chair, the cricket-playing curate, the Reverend Matthew Causton, and Laura’s friends, new and old, pull things together in time to save the shop?

And can Laura’s ex, sexy gentleman farmer, James Irving-McDonald, mean it when he says after all these years that she’s The One and he’ll stop at nothing to get her back?

This was really boring and James creeped me out. I just skimmed through the last half of the book.

When returning back home means change

Laura Huntley is working hard on her legal career, and is dreaming of a future with her boyfriend Rob, who also happens to be her boss. Returning back home in Tillingham hasn’t been on her priority list. However, when her grandmother needs her to look after Tibbles the cat and the Coronation Chickens, Laura feels it has her duty to go back home, also because of all the sacrifices her Granny made for her, even if Rob isn’t that enthusiastic about her sudden departure, even if Laura is adamant to work from distance. As it has been a while since Laura has been back, a lot has been changed, but a lot hasn’t. Everyone obviously recognizes Laura and know everything about her. But Laura is shocked that A Little Treat, a villages stores and teashop is about to close. Laura finds herself persuaded to join everyone from the village to save the heart of Tillingham. But do they have enough resources and forces to save the shop? Meanwhile, Laura is also struggling with a more distant Rob, and a former boyfriend, James, who is persistent to win her over again, and claiming that she is The One, even if his behaviour may show differently…

Why is it that stories about main characters that have left their homebase and for one reason or another have to return, are so appealing?

As I am truly homebound, I cannot imagine moving so far away from my home, and not visiting for a long time. But that is me, and I know that not everyone has the same feelings, even if nothing spectacular happened, that they never returned home. Sometimes life gets in the way, and that’s it.

In a way, right from the start, I felt sorry for Laura. While she is pursuing her legal career, it is obvious that it isn’t where her heart truly was, and that she did it more at the insistence of her Granny. And the way Rob behaves at work, is anything but professional, and I felt that it could also threaten her career, if someone would discover them.

Not only how Rob behaves at work, but I couldn’t see any real sparks flying between them, making me wonder if they were truly so well fitted. And then I am not talking about Rob’s reaction when Laura tells him that she is needed in Tillingham…

On the other hand, I liked it how Laura didn’t gave in, and showed a determination to do the right thing, and be there for her Granny.

It is no surprise that when Laura is back in Tillingham, she realizes that many things have stayed the same. Everyone immediately recognizes her, and quickly Laura is also reminded of all the things she used to love.

But as time has passed, many things have also changed. Whether it’s for the better or not, that is the question. I could understand Laura’s heartbreak when learning that a place that has brought her so much joy and happiness in the past, A Little Treat is going to be sold.

And with Laura finding herself involved with the whole village in an attempt to buy it and use it as a real community centre somehow, the story truly takes off.

I found it sweet to read how Laura is making new friends, but also rekindles some old friends. I saw it as something Laura truly needed, to find honest and real people.
Because I have to admit, both Rob as Laura’s best friend Nadia, I never warmed towards them. And without giving anything away, I was proved right…

The same I have to say about James… there has been no contact between Laura and James for years, and suddenly Laura is The One? I found that very difficult to believe to be honest… And James’s behaviour was not something I would appreciate if I were in Laura’s shoes.

I could understand Laura’s doubts somehow, and her inability to keep completely her distance from James, as he acts in a way that Rob doesn’t. Yet she never crosses a line with him, and that I liked. Because I don’t know if I could keep on liking Laura if that line would have been crossed…

While there is the storyline of Laura and her love life, it didn’t feel like that was the major storyline for me. I saw it more as a young woman finding direction in her life again, finding what makes her heart beat faster, or even skip a beat. Laura in this book has a lot to think about, decisions to make, to understand which direction she wants her life to take.

I enjoyed reading this story, as it shows how the right priority can make you reconsider past choices, but also future choices.

WHAT A SWEET TREAT - LOVELY STORY AND NARRATION

I LOVE this series. Summer at Tillingford Hall is the first, then A Little Treat..., then
Christmas at Tillingford Hall (which was the best Christmas story I've read in years!), and more to come. This book can be read as a stand alone, but it will make more sense if you read them in order, because the characters' stories flow from one book to the next. Once you start, you're going to want to read all of them anyway, so why not enjoy them in order.
It's lovely to spend some time in a pretty English village where people like, respect, and help each other, even though their lives aren't perfect, by any means, Each book feels to me like soaking in a warm, scented bath and taking the time to reflect and refresh.
This is a favorite premise of mine where things start off crumbling around the main character, but she keeps working through it, with the help and support of this wonderful town.
Rebecca Norfolk is a wonderful Narrator, a lovely voice to have in your head, and great at giving each character their own voice and personality.
I highly recommend every book in this series. Each one is a precious gem!

Oh my goodness!!! I adored A Little Treat on Honey Street by Flora Dunn! It was such a feel-good, warm, cosy, and toasty read. I literally wanted to pack up my bags and move to a little UK village!

Laura, who has spent years trying to build her legal career alongside her ambitious boyfriend Rob, suddenly finds herself back in her childhood village of Tillington to care for her grandmother’s menagerie of pets.

When Laura discovers that her beloved village shop and tearoom is on the brink of closure, she joins forces with the local villagers in a heartfelt effort to save and restore it.

One of the things I loved most about this book was the village community vibe. The people in Tillington are just so utterly lovable and bring so many humorous and heartfelt moments to the story.

I also have to add—the romance in this book is so swoony (I know… “swoony” may not be a real word, but I’m using it anyway!). And the main man is just so incredibly… sighworthy!

A Little Treat on Honey Street is a sweet, uplifting read about following your heart, chasing your dreams, and embracing second chances.

This one is a definite must-read for all my closed-door romance friends!!

I don't often read books set in England, but it was lovely to immerse myself in this story about London city workaholic Laura. Laura returns to the country village, where she grew up, to pet-sit for her beloved granny while she’s abroad in Sorrento. Laura enjoys reconnecting with the village community and with a former love interest. Given that Laura has a boyfriend in the city already, things become interesting when she is once more pursued by the handsome man with whom she once enjoyed a summer fling. I loved that this story was not predictable, had a diverse set of side characters, made me laugh out loud on numerous occasions, and contained beautiful descriptions like ‘the sky is the color of a bruise’. I particularly like the trainee Vicar, Matthew, and the new owner of the vicarage, village resident Elizabeth.

The author kept me guessing until close to the end, when all the pieces fell into place. I loved the happily-ever-after ending, and I hope to read more from this talented author.

Regarding content: This is a fade-to-black, closed-door romance. It contains sexual innuendos, descriptive kisses, and some mild swearing.

This was an enjoyable, easy read that I found myself excited to pick up.
I love books set in small villages so the setting was perfect and I enjoyed the community feel of the book.
I enjoyed the romance and loved Laura and Matt getting together at the end! Laura finding herself again was so lovely to read about. I was glad to see the back of Rob and James didn't deserve her either!
Some of the language felt a bit awkward and the ending felt a bit rushed towards the end. It kind of slot into place too well, with Matt offering up the money for the shop (why didn't he just do this at the start if he had the money) and granny suddenly deciding she didn't mind going to see a nursing home, it all felt a bit too quickly resolved. We didn't see Laura fight for the shop or have any sort of difficulty that wasn't solved rather quickly, she wasn't even that upset about splitting up with Rob, a man who she's been with for 2 years and treated her appallingly.
Overall I enjoyed reading the book and this isn't me saying it was bad, just that it had some flaws that I wasn't keen on.

Having read Flora's debut novel, and thoroughly enjoyed it, I was eager to dive into A Little Treat on Honey Street. I wasn't disappointed, this book is a whole lot of fun!

Set in the gorgeous fictional village of Tillingham in Hampshire, the drama centres around Laura Huntley, a London girl who grew up in the village and has fond memories of it. When she returns to look after her grandmother's menagerie, she bumps into old boyfriend James, who is keen to rekindle their relationship. But as Laura is already (un)happily seeing city slicker Rob, something James chooses to willingly ignore, hilarity results. Add a sexy kindhearted local priest to the mix and Laura's love life becomes even more complicated.

A Little Treat is full of funny antics, great characters, a swoony romance and men you just want to kick up the backside 😂 I highly recommend this book for all romcom lovers, it's the perfect summer read!

“A Little Treat on Honey Street” is another vibrant and engaging standalone novel set in Tillingham which is fast becoming one of my favorite fictional villages. Laura, the lively and relatable heroine is torn between three love interests: Ambitious Rob, charming but flighty James, and sweet and dependable Matt. While trying to save the local store and coffee shop “A Little Treat”, Laura has to navigate village politics as well as matters of the heart.

We follow her journey as she makes plans for “A Little Treat” while housesitting for her Granny. Will Laura, who feels increasingly drawn to the village she grew up in, follow the pull of Tillingford and leave the corporate London life behind? Will she manage to acquire the coffee shop and embark on a new career? And who of the three men will succeed in winning her heart? You have to read it to find out.

Looking forward to the next Tillingford novel from Flora Dunn!

"A Little Treat" indeed!! 4.5stars!!
It is one of those books where you know how it is going to end form the start...but WOW was it fun getting there!
Career driven city girl, returning to charming little village town...multiple love interests...you know the story. I don't really do rom-com, because it can be so generic, but this was really a pleasant surprise.
Very well written, colorful characters, good clean fun and HILARIOUS!!!! I laughed so much and now I am sad it ended.
Lots of charm and gives you that warm feeling inside.
Listened to it on audio and it was amazing!

A cute, cozy romantic comedy that felt like a warm cup of tea and a sweet bakery treat. A Little Treat on Honey Street was a quick and easy read that was perfect when I wanted something light and comforting.

The story has plenty of charm, with a small-town feel and lovable moments between the characters. It’s the kind of book you can curl up with for a few hours and just enjoy without overthinking it.

While it didn’t completely blow me away, it was still a sweet, feel-good read that left me smiling.

A really charming read. I was rooting for Laura all the way and was intrigued to know which of her suitors was going to come out on top. The ending was a lovely twist and the whole plot tied together so well. The descriptions of cakes (do not read while hungry!) and parish life were great. The Baking Bee brought the humour and the relationship between Laura and her Granny added pathos. It all made me long to escape the city and find a tea shop of my own!

A very enjoyable palette cleanser book. I needed something lighthearted, romantic and fun and this book was perfect. Laura, the main character, was likeable and believable, as were all the characters in the book. There were some interesting twists and turns to keep boredom at bay and good character building of main protagonists. I did feel it was a little rushed at the end with some lose end tying but I will read more by this author.

I loved this book! I read it for free on Audible and am always up for a British romance. The narrator is so good which makes listening easy and I got pulled into the story. Like many romances it’s easy to figure out how the story will end but it’s still a light-hearted and fun read. A clean read as well. Appreciate that the author writes from a Christian perspective!

This was cutesy and I loved the voice actor narrating the audiobook. I hated how misogynistic the MMCs were, absolutely appalled which meant that the author executed their characteristics well. This was well produced and written, however I felt like there was something missing, I was expecting more depth.

I found this one by chance on Audible plus .

Some other reviewer mentioned that several characters from a previous series were included in this book( as it is set in the same village) , so went back and found them ( very luckily they where also free via the plus section) I enjoyed them do an added bonus all round.

Another fun read from this author

I dragged my way through this, to be honest.

The story was great, but it could have been shorter and lots of details left out.

I also felt a bit icky about the Vicar, maybe because I'm Irish and our priests can't marry, so the idea of fancying one is so bizarre to me haha.
