Three months after catastrophic events decimated the West Coast, Reed Walker, Chloe Cooper, and the Clark kids have found a fragile peace in their new home along the Mississippi River in Kentucky. The past still haunts them, but they’re starting to rebuild, to hope again. Then, without warning, the earth begins to tremble— and the nightmare begins anew…
A new mega quake erupts in the heart of America, ripping through the New Madrid Seismic Zone with apocalyptic fury.
Geologists can’t explain why this is happening even as the ground splits wide open. The central U.S. is plunged into chaos as entire cities collapse, rivers overflow, and the land fractures in a violent, unstoppable storm of destruction.
The devastation that obliterated the West Coast is now ripping through the heart of the nation!
No one is safe. Not from the tremors, not from the deadly aftershocks, and not from the unseen forces of the Earth itself. The Mississippi River and the Midwest’s valleys are forever changed.
Reed and Chloe, seasoned survivors of the West Coast disasters, know all too well that this new nightmare offers no mercy. With the world around them crumbling, they must navigate a shattered landscape filled with devastating threats and harrowing risks. But it’s not just them. The rest of the family faces their own terrifying struggles. Separated by chaos, each must fight through an unforgiving landscape to reunite—if they can survive the journey.
As the very earth shifts beneath them, nothing makes sense. The science behind the earthquakes fails to explain the new horrors they face. And with each passing moment, the odds of survival grow slimmer. Reed and Chloe have survived deadly threats before, but now, they have only each other to rely on—and no guarantees they will make it out alive.
In Wreckage River, the stakes are higher, the dangers deadlier, and the fight for survival has never been more brutal. Get ready for a heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat thrill ride where every second counts and survival is just the beginning.
This book continues the Wreckage series, but is starting to resemble an everything with the kitchen sink apocalypse. We have earthquakes everywhere, volcanoes (mostly book 1), floods, tornados; no aliens or asteroid strikes so far. In the midst of this endless parade of disasters, there are many serendipities and convenient coincidences, so much so that it is really kind of unbelievable. More in the unbelievable column is the fact that there seems to be unlimited resources, especially for Albert, and an unusual ability to communicate with other survivors, usually not seen in the apocalypse. Still, setting that level of incredulity aside, the writing is actually pretty good and I do like many of the characters. There is also the hint that this destruction is not naturally occurring so I am kind of interested in continuing.
This is the second book in THE WRECKAGE SERIES but can be read as a standalone novel. To really understand what is happening with The Walker/Clark families reading the first book in the series WRECKAGE ROAD would help but WRECKAGE RIVER has enough adventure action, and intrigue to keep the reader invested. The secondary characters also have interesting stories. A very good plot and excellent character development.
(3,5 stars] Just like the first part of the trilogy there are plenty of natural desasters. Earthquakes, thunderstorms, fires, massive sinkholes, floods, hail: I can't imagine any type of desaster that was not mentioned. Yes, it is fast paced but still I found myself yawning more than once. At least for me there was just so much of them it became boring. Fast. On the bright side it it is save to read if you love dogs ;-)
Wow, the action never ends, what a ride. Out Family of survivors is still fighting for their lives. The Earth is revolting causing floods and earthquakes. What is the cause?! But the Walker clan keeps fighting, relying on each other. What a great book can’t wait till the last one.
The chaos just keeps on going in this book. At this point I would leave the US honestly. Those poor kids, Chloe and Reed are just catching it. Then Dan and Nadia…I hope karma gets them in the third book. He’s absolutely no good…I’m sure the next book is about to be just as chaotic…
The events cover Kentucky, Missouri and other areas. There's strange animal behavior, severe storms, holes opening up in the ground, quakes in the New Madrid area, quicksand, level 9 and up quakes and other things going on.
It's a lot of action, a lot of people dying and some questions about just what is behind all of this. It's a very good series of books. Very good.
Truly enjoyed this book. It's a moment in time for a group of likable characters. You are sucked into that time and waiting, or reading as fast as you can, for the trauma to be over. Looking forward to book three!
Another great read! The continued story of the “Walker Family” and other survivors showing that their escape destination isn’t safe either! Continued action & a quick read! Was surprised to see there is a third book in the series.. but will have to wait until November when it is released!

The second installment in the Wreckage Series does not disappoint! 5 stars of non-stop action with likable characters and one very unlikable bad guy. The true enemy is the river itself! Don’t miss out on this exciting adventure!
Great series! Granted this was about a family, but this would have been a world wide event. It should have been mentioned on the news at least. This would make a great series about the rest of the world.
This installment to the series was at least as terrifying as the last. After the West Coast disaster pretty much every one headed for the middle of the country. Now trouble has followed them.
First series I've read by this author and I'm very well pleased. Great characterization, which is a must for me. The second book held up just as well as the first. Lots of action. A recommended read.
As nature steps in with its own path, the characters going through tough times do so with style and grace. Well done worthy of a blockbuster I'd love to see.
