There are so many hazards of being a banshee living among humans... like accidentally betrothing yourself to the guy next door...
When Jared rents out an apartment in paranormal-friendly Pine Ridge, the average human research assistant thinks the little New York town is a perfect fit for him. That might change when Jared discovers he’s a “sensitive,” a non-supernatural being who can occasionally sense the otherworldly.
Chloe O’Neill, a half-banshee who owns Chloe’s Curiosities, doesn’t mind living surrounded by humans, but she’s thrilled when her new next-door neighbor plans to be away over Spring Break. It’s not often a banshee can really let go without endangering mortals, so of course she takes the chance to use the glorious singing voice she has to keep hidden.
Imagine her surprise when her traditional banshee betrothal song is overheard—but not by the handsome fae husband she hopes to one day enchant—but by a very confused Jared who had his plans cancelled at the last minute!
Once a banshee is betrothed, there are only two options to break off the death or denial. Since Chloe won’t be swinging a blade anytime soon, she’s counting on Jared to reject her mistaken offer.
Too bad Jared thinks his life is finally turning around. New job, new city, new life…and maybe a new wife?
Accidentally Engaged (And Other Hazards of Being a Banshee) is a short, steamy standalone in the Pine Ridge Universe.
This little gem is pure swoon-drenched magic! Chloe and Jared’s story is the sweetest, most unexpected insta‑love I’ve read in ages—and I couldn’t stop smiling.
Chloe, our half‑banshee with a secret song and a tender heart, just wanted a night to let her voice fly. Jared, the sweet and slightly bewildered human next door, just wanted a quiet life. Instead? Fate handed them a betrothal and a love story that feels like warm sunlight on your skin.
There’s something so precious about the way Jared instantly adores her, how he doesn’t run from the magic but leans into it, believing in her even before he understands. And Chloe’s shock at finding someone who sees her—really sees her—is enough to make your heart ache in the best way.
Short, steamy, and absolutely saturated with charm, this is an insta‑love that feels destined. Pine Ridge has never felt so cozy or so thrilling.
Spicy, male female, 1st person dual point of view, paranormal romance. I love Pine Ridge and the fun characters who live there! This was a super sweet and spicy insta-love/lust between the two sweetest leads. I really loved the female main character's mix of banshee and fae which gave her the best abilities. Add a big cuddly male main character who brings the heat in the bedroom and you've got a winning couple. 💕
I think it's been a really long time since I have been truly convienced by she-monster FMC. Chloe, a banshee (which itself is an unique idea), is maybe not a complicated character but very believable and definitely likeable. I absolutely enjoyed how she is using her banshee "treats" to defend Jared. The novela is cute to the core. A great, short story for relaxing and no stress holiday reading.
Such a lovely little tale of redemption and hope. Two singles - one wounded by cruelty and one all out of hope for a partner and love. A serenade across the alley and an accidental love spell and things change rapidly. Jared and Chloe find what they need amid some challenges and Pine Ridge folks help out with both. Loved it. Could have been a little longer.
Finally got a chance to read this and it did not disappoint at all. It was so great to see a plus size guy as the romantic interest. Especially when the fmc is super into him just as he is. Also love that he was the human in this scenario. They are an adorable pair.
This was so beautifully, sweetly written! The body positivity is the best! Everyone deserves to be loved for who they are no matter what they look like! And this book is exactly that! I flew through this and a smile was plastered on my face the entire time!
Definitely for those soft and fluffy romantasy lovers out there, honestly all the Pine Ridge Universe books are for the fluffy readers and Accidentally Engaged fits in the mix perfectly, no drama just a quick and cozy read perfect for snuggle weather.
