Marisol Roberts will be the first to admit she made many mistakes with her sister. While she’s taken strides to right her former wrongs, she’s still friendless, directionless, and stuck beneath her mother’s thumb. All on her thirtieth birthday no less. To wrestle back control, she needs to do something risky, something to push her out of her comfort zone, and a tattoo is just the solution.
What she least expects is risking it all with the tattoo artist.
Cisco Ramos is a successful multi-business owner, something he had to fight for after the disaster that nearly ruined his life. In all his ventures, no one has intrigued him as much as her…mostly because the beautiful, shy woman doesn’t belong. Though he should know better by now that looks can be deceiving, because at every turn, she’s proving him wrong—and in the same breath, effortlessly drawing him in.
Together, a second chance has never seemed more possible. But with their pasts set on ruining it all, is this hope for redemption just a permanent mistake?
Author's Love at First ink is the third book in the New Beginnings Romance series. However, each book contains a different couple with a happily ever after that you can read as a standalone.
Anastasia Dean is a pen name for Tati B. Alvarez. She lives in Austin, Texas, where she spends most days lost in her own head, creating stories. When she is not writing, you can find her vacationing at Disney World.
4.5 ⭐️. At first I didn’t know how sympathetic I would be towards Marisol but the way author Anastasia Dean wrote about her trying to improve herself and her relationship with her sister through therapy really drew me in. I loved how even though Marisol was attracted to Cisco from the start, Cisco fell first and harder. I also loved how Cisco introduced Marisol to new experiences that he knew she would enjoy but in a gentle and kind way. I also really appreciated how Marisol became stronger and was able to set boundaries. Thank you to Anastasia Dean and Flying Pig PR for the opportunity to read this early.
Not going to lie…when I realised this book was written in the 3rd person I almost didn’t read it. It’s so hard for me to get into books written in the 3rd person 😩😩 BUT…I’m so glad that I did because I actually enjoyed this book so much more than I was expecting. It’s my first time reading Anastasia Dean and I’m really looking forward to going back and reading the previous books in this series.
A tale as old as time…if you know about Hispanic families…rich , poor or in between, there is always one constant. The eldest daughter will always be living her life to fulfill her mother’s sometimes unreasonable expectations. I say this as a daughter of a Hispanic mother, so no I’m not just generalising. Please don’t come for me 🫣 I’m speaking from my own experience.
Marisol is our FMC…spoiled rich daddies girl…heavy on the people pleasing…living her life for everyone but herself and always striving to do what her mothers expects…hoping to get that approval that will never come…marrying the man her mother picked for her. All of this has lead her to be deep in her therapy journey…30 and alone…going through a divorce. Getting her first tattoo was symbolic in so many ways…a way of showing her independence and finally making a choice for herself…consequences be dammed.
Cisco is the hidden gem MMC of this story. At first glance, you see the black clothes, tattoos…grumpy exterior…you think…bad boy. And maybe he was in the past. But the truth is, Cisco is a successful business owner three times over…Ivy league graduate and a man with a heart of gold. When Marisol steps into his studio, he’s instantly taken with her, but also knows that this is no regular tattoo…there is more to it than meets the eye. And he’s willing to walk her through that experience.
What follows is a story of true self discovery. Cisco helps Marisol realise that she’s her own person. She needs to live life for herself and no one else…and that means him too. He pushes her boundaries and helps her discover all the things she’s never had an opportunity to discover.
He was everything she needed even if it wasn’t what her family wanted for her. But she didn’t care. This man loved her…worshiped the ground she walked on and made sure she was satisfied in every way 🤭 Emotionally intelligent , Cisco was able to bring Marisol to a place in her life where she could finally feel free to be herself.
There wasn’t much drama except for Marisols mom…I loved this book. It was a spicy and heartfelt read that I think every eldest daughter would love and could relate to 💜

Was it just me or Cisco was giving if Rio (Good Girls tv show) was a golden retriever? Oh so just me? K
I'm obsessed with Cisco and Marisol's relationship the way they both learn to trust each other and don't let miscommunication set them apart and the way there both there for each other obsessed I tell you.
But most importantly see that Marisol and Lola heal their relationship despite of their toxic mother had me in tear, Marisol setting an important boundary to her mom in order to keep healing!!!! Yes to everything
I do have to say that some of the spice scenes felt like they should've be where they were but none the less they were steamy.
~Blurb~ Marisol is going through a messy divorce for 2 years now and do to past behaviour has a complicated relationship with her sister, when she mentions to her therapist that she doesn't have any plans for her 30th birthday her therapist recommended to do something she always wanted to do for herself and when she lands on a tattoo that her controlling mother would hate, that's when she meets her tattoo artist Cisco this hot tattooed golden retriever of a man and the sparkles fly immediately.

This was book 3 in the new beginnings series, and boy, was I a little skeptical going into this because I loved book 2!! The author did such a great job in that book of making Marisol so unlikeable that it was hard to see her redemption arc. I think we certainly got their in the end, but it was still a frustrating ride, especially because Marisol was already an adult, and this was set 2 years after book 1. The fact that the whole family, including Marisol, continued the toxic relationship with her mother was unbelievable. And that as old as Marisol was she had absolutely no healthy relationships whatsoever at that point seemed like a huge red flag to me. What made the whole storyline work was the sexy simp Papi Cisco because that tattooed baddie was oh so delish. Loved how ambitious and self determined he was, especially given how some in society would judge the book by the cover. He was so steadfast and alluring. I guess he made Marisol make sense. I also enjoyed his cousin Tiny, and having Lola and Javi from book 2 be present was great. I received an advance review copy for free by booksirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Straight up, I DEVOURED this book. Is it because it reminded me of myself? Absolutely. And it doesn’t hurt that the MMC is Latino (Mexican representation!!!) and TATTED TF UPPPPP!!! Excuse my language, this book just really hit a cord with me as an eldest daughter of immigrant parents 🥹😭
Yes yes, this romance book has some spicy scenes, but it’s got depth too! If you’re an eldest daughter of immigrant parents, this book might make you cry, or at least get you choked up. It is way too relatable (in a good way). The FMC is hard to relate to initially, but getting to hear her backstory and see her character development (in part thanks to the MMC), it’s a very touching story of a woman discovering her independence and realizing her own strength and resilience. This book felt like more than just a romance; it really spoke to me and was surprisingly relatable even though the FMC comes from a rich family. Her struggles are ones many of us have fought through or are currently fighting through. This book isn’t just about finding love in a romantic partner. It’s about finding love within yourself, having the courage to ask for help when it’s too hard to speak up or fight for yourself, and setting boundaries, even if it means cutting off family members.
Thank you so much to Anastasia Dean for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Marisol has always been a people pleaser, living under her mother's thumb and letting her control everything from her choice of friends, her relationship with her sister... even the man she reluctantly married! It's been three years now since she came to get senses, and she decides to do something wild for her birthday and get a tattoo, not knowing that meeting her tattoo artist, Cisco, would change her life forever. I wasn't sure going in that I would like Marisol at all after what a disaster she was in Lola's book. Even after knowing she was changing her life, I still didn't really like her. By the end when she finally found a backbone and stood up for her man was probably when I finally warmed up to her character. Cisco really made the story with his quiet confidence, his undying support and protective nature, and definitely the he falls first vibes. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The problem for Marisol was that she was a people pleaser. She never had control over her own life, always doing what her parents wanted and how they wanted it. Now at thirty, with a divorce on the horizon, and weekly therapy session, she was ready to make a change.
First off on her list of things to do… a tattoo. One of which would lead her to an unexpected encounter.
Slow burn 3rd person POV Trigger Warnings Open door spice
* I liked it but, I didn’t love it. It was well written and a nice change of pace for me but hard to get into. Third person point of view books can be a little awkward when reading and hard to stay focused on for me. I’d recommend this book for those that was a cozy romance with a hint of family drama.
This is the 3rd book in the same Universe and the chemistry between the two MCs is spot on!!
We have Marisol & Cisco.
Marisol has lived her life in her mother’s shadow. Her sister gives her a wake up call & her marriage ended before it started. Now she’s trying to discover herself. Alone. Cisco has a wrongly accused past he has successfully buried to create a successful life for himself & his extended family. What happens when their two worlds collide?
This was the final book in the series, and I loved it! I really enjoyed seeing Marisol come out of her shell and learn to love and appreciate herself. I loved the mental health rep with several characters actively going to therapy to work on their issues. I really struggled with Marisol's parents because her mom is AWFUL and, while her dad clearly loves his daughters, he does not stand up for them enough. With that said, I would also imagine it is difficult to see the woman you love fail to connect with her children. I am glad Marisol found Cisco who helped her to stretch beyond her self-imposed boundaries. And his relationship with his cousin was a delightful bonus!
You met the MC if you read Fixed up Ever After. Marisol, a spoiled rich girl who can do no wrong gets what she wants kind of girl. However, she only actually gets what her mom thinks is the right image to put off. Like an upper class us and, barely eats. Always looks fabulous, put together, perfect. But that’s not the Marisol that we meet. She’s been going to therapy since the other book and working on herself. To find who she is without being under her mom’s thumb. This takes her time, but she tries. This book is fabulous, I loved watching her redemption arc. She so deserved to be happy. I loved watching how the characters all worked together so well to find solutions and make things happen for each other.
Thank you Anastasia for sharing this fabulous story with us!!
🥃 ARC Review: Love at First Ink by Anastasia Dean Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.75/5) Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (Slow-burn warmth with real heat) Genre: Contemporary Romance, Healing Journey, Opposites Attract Tropes: First Tattoo, Good Girl × Tattooed Softie, Emotional Growth, Found Family
🥃 The Pour: A Soft, Steady Burn With Heart Love at First Ink delivers a tender, emotionally grounded romance about breaking patterns, reclaiming identity, and choosing yourself—even when it scares the hell out of you.
Marisol, a 30-year-old perfectionist raised under the weight of her mother’s expectations, decides to do something wildly out of character for her birthday: get a tattoo. Enter Cisco—tattoo shop owner, low-key workaholic, and charismatic cinnamon roll wrapped in tattoos and quiet depth.
Their chemistry is sweet, slow-building, and rooted in vulnerability. This isn’t just about ink on skin—it’s about rewriting internal narratives, shedding guilt, and stepping into autonomy.
💗 What Worked Well ✔ Character depth that feels lived-in. Marisol’s healing journey (therapy, family trauma, rediscovering self-worth) is handled with care and nuance. If you’ve ever felt shaped by a parent’s voice more than your own, her arc hits home.
✔ Cisco is peak soft alpha energy. Tatted up, successful, emotionally intelligent, and gentle where it matters. A man who gives aftercare instructions with intention? Yes ma’am.
✔ Natural chemistry. Their banter—especially over music—feels ripe and organic. No insta-love, no forced drama. Just two people finding connection in unexpected places.
✔ Strong sense of setting & community. Golden City Tattoos feels like a character itself, with vibes, personality, and supporting characters who pop.
🤌 Where It Fell Short (But Not Fatally) – The pacing dips in the middle. Some chapters linger a little too long on inner monologues, slowing down the momentum between major relationship beats.
– Conflict resolution feels slightly rushed. The emotional setup is so rich that the payoff could have been stretched more to land with full impact.
– I wanted just a little more heat. The chemistry is there, the tension is delicious, but a couple of the steamy scenes fade faster than expected for a romance built on intimate connection.
🌶️ Spice Notes Warm, intimate, and rooted in trust-building. Not explicit erotica, but sensual enough to satisfy romance readers who enjoy emotional spice over sheer quantity.
⚠️ Content Warnings Parental emotional abuse Childhood trauma Fatphobic comments (toward a side character) Panic/anxiety attacks Discussions of racial/mixed-identity struggle Explicit on-page sexual content
🥃 Final Sip Love at First Ink is a heartfelt story about choosing yourself and finding someone who sees the parts of you that you’ve been taught to hide. It’s soft, healing, and hopeful—perfect for readers who enjoy emotionally reflective romances with a steady burn.
A smooth 3.75 stars—imperfect in execution, but genuinely moving where it counts.

Thank you so so much to the amazing author for sharing a very very very early copy of this book with me !!! I’m obsessed with the “new beginning” series !!!
"Want to be different together?"
"Only you. There is and won't be anyone else. You're mine for as long as you'll have me,"
"You aren't a bad person, Princesa. You're a person. You've made mistakes. And now you are taking the steps you need to change that. That takes a lot of dedication and self reflection. And you know what? Not many people can say that they are putting in the work to change."
I have never loved a book about love at first sight that much!! This one absolutely changed my life !!!! I have bene interested in Marisol’s storyline since meeting her in Lola and Javi’s book, Fixed Up Ever After, and I honestly believed there was more to her than met the eyes. And I was so right !!! When the opportunity to read this book came in, I jumped at it and it was the best choice of my life !!!! Cisco and Marisol are a marvel and an absolute amazing fun time !!!! She is the first daughter, trying her hardest to meet her mother’s expectations only to find herself loosing her sister and herself and finally tryjng to free herself and mend broken relationships. Something about her story hit a bit too close to home and I found myself wondering what I would have done, if I’d found myself in her shoes. Her insecurities and doubts and feelings of guilt and unworthiness were mine and meeting Cisco … it felt like redemption. And the man himself … I think I ran out of words to express how obsessed with him I am !!!! He is perfection !!!! He is absolutely gorgeous and handsome and amazing and such a filthy mouth !!!! I loved the way he loved her. So purely (and sometimes not), so completely, so respectfully and so totally that I felt myself melting in a puddle to the floor every single time he was speaking!!! And of course, him being a tattooed, handsome and Latino man made my heart racing for him !!! I was giggling and kicking my feet half the time!!! And there was no third act break up !!!! PERFECTION !!!!! I’m so honestly and deeply grateful to the author for allowing me to read this story early on !!! I love these characters so much!!!!
“Pride. Friendship. Love. It all made her feel like every hard decision she made over the past few years was worth it. That she was worth it.”
"Princesa, I will save every tattoo for you. You're my perfect canvas."
"Let's make one thing very clear, Princesa. When I say sit on my face, I need you to sit on my fucking face and let me eat."
Love at First Ink by Anastasia Dean is a book that I felt myself in all too well. This is the first book I have read by Anastasia, but it definitely won’t be the last. This book was a fun read, with low stakes and low angst. The synopsis of this book had me won over. As the oldest sibling, I immediately felt drawn to our FMC and the journey she is on. My heart went out to her and I wanted to see if she found her way.
Marisol is the oldest daughter, with an overbearing mother. She tries so hard to be the perfect sister and daughter, but striving for perfection has her burnt out. I had the song “Surface Pressure” from Encanto running through my head multiple times while reading about Marison. And I get it! People pleaser isn’t even a strong enough definition of what Marison was feeling. The work she put into not falling into the false insecurities her mother had pushed on her is inspiring. I completely understood her need to do something different and for herself.
Cisco immediately knows that Marison isn’t his normal tattoo client when she comes into his shop. However, when the two meet, the chemistry is instant and overflowing. He can tell there is something bubbling under the surface, but doesn’t push her too much. As he continues to pursue her and gets her to open up, the amount of emotional maturity and support he gives Marisol was wonderful. He never expected her to be anything but herself and constantly lifted her up.
The third book in the New Beginnings series, this can definitely be read as a standalone. I will be reading the others, especially to read more about Marisol and her sister’s relationship. Having a younger sister myself, I know how powerful that relationship can be. Anastasia has written a wonderful story that pulled me in from the very beginning. The storyline is easy to follow and light throughout, but the book does have its serious moments. I loved the way she wrote the story of these two and the growth that is seen between them both. Definitely recommend reading this book!!
As always, review any author notes before reading.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Love at First Ink: A New Beginnings Romance Novel by Anastasia Dean
Marisol Roberts is facing her birthday alone. She's separated from her husband but still waiting on him to sign the papers. She has no friends. She is in therapy, dealing with trauma inflicted by her mother, and trying to make amends with her sister, Lola, who shares in the trauma.
Cisco Ramos is a business owner. He owns two tattoo studios and is looking to expand to a third location. He is also part owner in a music venue. He has made a good name for himself, but he does have a bit of a past that he has had to overcome. He was framed for a crime and did jail time before his family was able to afford a lawyer and clear his name.
At the urging of her therapist, Marisol decides to do something for herself (for once) that she has always wanted. She's going to get a tattoo for her birthday! She tells her sister, who books and pays for the appointment, knowing that Marisol will back out if she doesn't. Marisol arrives at the studio and finally goes inside after much debate. She is immediately welcomed by "Tiny," the studio manager, who puts her at ease. She decides on a goddess tattoo. When she meets the artist, Cisco, she is surprised that she recognizes him from her therapists office. There is an immediate connection between the two, and Cisco invites Marisol to a concert. After much debate with herself, she finally decides to go.
I don't want to ruin the rest of the story, but y'all... IT IS SO GOOD!!! We get to see Marisol grow into who she is, mend her relationship with her sister, become a cat mom, find real friends, fall in love with Cisco, and stand up to her horrible ex and mother. It's no secret to anyone that I have narcissistic mother issues. To say I sympathize with Marisol is a severe understatement! I absolutely loved seeing her finally get out from under her mother's thumb and stand up for herself.
I received an ARC of this book, but these opinions are my own. I would like to thank the author, Anastasia Dean, and Flying Pig PR for allowing me the privilege of reading her work. ❤️

“Appearances can be deceiving, Marisol. We’ve talked about this. You aren’t your mother.”
Marisol Roberts has always been a spoiled daddy’s girl who got what she wanted—polished, privileged, and perfectly put together, with designer labels and her emotional support water bottle in her hand. Tired of trying to be the perfect daughter, always chasing her mother’s impossible approval. Now 30, jobless, friendless, and separated from the husband her mother handpicked. Alone on her 30th birthday—with her parents on vacation, her sister busy, and no planned birthday party. She spends the day in therapy and buys her own cake. Encouraged by her therapist and sister, she marks this fresh start with a goddess tattoo. Behind the ink is Francisco Ramos (Cisco)—a 33-year-old tattoo artist, music lover, and Ivy League grad who owns two successful shops, a music venue, and has a third shop on the way. Always in black and often judged for his tattoos and background, Cisco’s calm confidence and emotional depth speak louder. A shared love of music draws them in, but it’s the way they truly see and challenge each other that sparks something real.
Big kudos to the author for a well-written, fun, and engaging read with a totally relatable storyline that balances serious mental health themes without drowning in drama. Marisol’s journey through parental trauma felt real and raw, all while dealing with an annoying ex in the background that added just the right intrigue. The fast-paced story kept me hooked from start to finish, with my favorite part being the Sinner’s Web concert and meet-and-greet—so cute! Plus, it’s a certified HEA with no messy drama dragging it down. And honestly, Marisol’s dad sealed the deal for me—definitely a solid 5⭐️ and I’m keeping my eARC copy!
A big thanks to Flying Pig PR and Anastasia Dean for providing me with a digital ARC of this book!

If I could bottle up the feeling of swooning over a tattooed softie with a filthy mouth and a heart made of pure gold… it would smell like fresh ink and emotional safety.
Marisol’s journey had me hooked from page one. Two years out from a toxic marriage, still tangled in the invisible threads of her people pleasing past, she’s finally choosing herself. Enter Cisco: tattoo artist, business owner, and walking, talking proof that emotional intelligence is hot.
I LIVED for Cisco. He’s the kind of man who listens, spoils, protects, and knows exactly when to growl and when to be gentle. Watching him fall for Marisol—hard and fast—was a masterclass in book boyfriend perfection. And the way he shows up for her and against her mom? Chef’s kiss.
This book was flirty, fast-paced, and full of heart. The emotional payoff, the growth, the chemistry? 10/10. I closed this book and immediately wanted a sequel (or at least a Cisco POV novella—please).
If you’re in the mood for hot inked men with soft souls, and a love story that feels earned and empowering, this one’s for you
I received an ARC copy and wanted to leave an honest review.
I LOVED this book. I’ve been kinda in a slump lately. Books just haven’t hit the right way and I even DNF one; which I NEVER do. But this one? Ooooh….it had me hooked from page one through the epilogue.
First - huge props to the author for prioritizing mental health of both the main characters. In fact, their first meet cute was passing each other at their therapists office.
Marisol is working through her mama-drama. She’s been used as a pawn and is coming to terms with the hurt not only she has suffered - but the hurt she in turn put on others. Turning 30, she realizes she has no friends, is going through a messy divorce and just isn’t happy. At the encouragement of her therapist and sister, she decides to get a tattoo. Re-enter Cisco.
Cisco is a tattoo artist - and owns 2 shops already. While he is used to being judged because of his ethnicity and tattoos; people don’t realize he is more than that. It turns out a love of the same band gives him the in to get Marisol on a first date.
I just adored their chemistry and relationship with each other. He was just so protective and cared for her so well. She was learning that when it’s someone you actually like; some of those “caveman habits” are kinda hot. And let’s not even talk about how he comes to her defense against her mom. Whew!!!!
You always know it’s a good book when you didn’t want it to end. It’s a great book when you want a sequel to know what’s happening in their life now. I’m definitely sitting in the great category.
This was my first Anastasia Dean book, and I can’t wait to read more from her!
Marisol Roberts has always strived to be the perfect daughter. After years of following her mother’s directives, she’s decided to take control of her life and start making her own decisions. Which leads her to a tattoo parlor on her thirtieth birthday. She wasn’t expecting the sizzling attraction she’d feel for the sexy tattoo artist.
This was such a low angst, easy read. Both characters are extremely likable. My heart really went out to Marisol. She fought to break the toxic relationship she had with her mother and worked hard to undo the insecurities that her mother instilled in her. I found her to be brave. It didn’t matter if a new experience scared her, she went through with it anyway. Cisco is a kind and patient man, and I loved how he followed Marisol’s lead and always ensured she felt comfortable. Nothing says sexy like an emotionally intelligent man. Their chemistry was sizzling, and I enjoyed watching them get to know each other.
This is the third book in a series, and while it’s not necessary to read the previous books, I’m excited to read Lola’s book to get the full scope of the relationship between the two sisters. Overall, I really enjoyed this and look forward to more from this author.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Love at First Ink by Anastasia Dean is an emotional, swoony standout in the New Beginnings Romance Novel series. This standalone story is more than just a romance—it’s a moving journey of healing, self-discovery, and redemption.
Marisol’s experience with parentification trauma is portrayed with authenticity and care, and her path toward healing is made even more powerful by Cisco, the grounding presence she didn’t know she needed. Their chemistry is magnetic and can be felt on every page, making their slow-burn relationship deeply satisfying.
Anastasia Dean excels at character development—her ability to breathe life into her characters is truly remarkable. Marisol and Cisco are not just names on a page; they feel like real people with layered emotions, personal growth, and relatable flaws. You feel their angst, their hope, and their joy every step of the way. Dean’s writing is heartfelt, emotionally rich, and pulls you right into the characters' experiences.
The story is well-paced, beautifully written, and filled with the kind of emotional moments that stay with you long after you’ve finished reading. If you love realistic, lovable characters and a well-earned happily-ever-after, this book is a must-read.
Fun but angsty rom-com with perfect HEA If you read “Fixed Up Ever After” in this series by this author, you will definitely want to read this one about Lola’s sister, Marisol who we met in “Fixed Up” and she was not very nice. In this new book we see a “new and improved” version of Marisol who has been in therapy and trying to reconcile the mean girl she used to be to the one she wants to be now. Marisol and Lola had a bad time of it before but they are getting closer so Lola gives Marisol a tattoo for her 30th birthday. What Marisol gets is a new exciting relationship with an all-over-tattooed 33yo guy named Cisco who defies the stereotype and is successful, intelligent, attentive and perceptive. He sees how Marisol has been treated by her mother and her almost-ex. Yes. Marisol is married, technically. She has been separated from her husband for two years waiting for him to sign the divorce papers. Why won’t he do it?! Much will be revealed before this book ends. Standalone stories about different couples. This book was a little slow in the beginning but it picks up the pace shortly thereafter. Hold on because the best is yet to come if you finish this delightful and steamy rom-com. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through BookSirens.
Marisol is turning thirty at the book’s outset, visiting her therapist as she contends with a mercifully failed marriage and trying to undo the years of damage to her sister who she treated terribly just as her mother expected her to, and she’s utterly rudderless. Cue the gorgeous tattooed Latino in the therapist’s waiting room as she’s exiting her session.
Entrepreneur Cisco has made a name for himself through talent, hard work, and perseverance. He’s taken with Marisol the moment she walks into his workspace and blurts out that she saw him at her therapist’s office. He invites her to a concert featuring a band they both enjoy, and they hit it off despite Marisol’s baggage.
There’s some family and divorce messiness, lots of class issues especially with Marisol’s would be ex husband and her especially heinous mother. A bit of levity when Cisco helps her outfit her condo to accommodate her newly adopted cat who seems to hate everyone except Marisol.
It’s a decent beach read with a challenging FMC who’s trying to redeem herself, and a MC who’s rock solid and the perfect foil for her.
I received an advance reader copy from the author, and I’m sharing my honest review.
This is the first book I have read by Ms. Dean, and I am definitely inspired to catch up with the rest of this series. I really appreciated her writing style. I am not sure what felt different to me; I will just say that her prose had an interesting rhythm that felt just right. Marisol and Cisco are wonderful, complete characters. I really appreciate that they are both "doing the work" to be adults and build their lives, including going to therapy. Marisol celebrates her 30th birthday with the adventure of getting a tattoo, and Cisco is the tattoo artist. Marisol chooses a design that speaks to her, and they spend the time discussing music they both enjoy. Things take off from there, though not without some rough patches (due to past secrets and family issues) and as well as some very convincing spicy moments. And fun times are not neglected: Marisol adopts a very opinionated cat whose "comments" are just priceless. I am looking forward to reading the earlier novels in this series, and certainly hope that Ms. Dean writes more soon!
I was given an ARC and volunteered to write a review.

4🌟🌟🌟🌟
This was Book 3 of a standalone series. I didn’t read Book 1 or 2 but absolutely didn’t need to but adding those to my tbr. Marisol and Cisco prove that love happens when you least expect. Marisol is struggling with finding herself at 30. She has never truly done things for herself- she has lived her life more for her mother than herself and she hasn’t really been happy. When her sister Lola suggests she gets a tattoo for her birthday she follows through with it and she meets Cisco the tattooed tattoo artist and owner. So so so in love with this one, I didn't think it was possible to love this series anymore but I absolutely loved this one.
Cisco is the man every recovering people pleasing girl needs. I didn't expect to resonate with Marisol so much. It's so easy to fall into the trap of people pleasing because you feel like you are disappointing those you love. I thankfully don't have a mother as bad as Luciana but she has her days so I 100% get Marisol in that regard. I love that this book highlighted rediscovery of oneself in adulthood because some of us really needed to restart at adulthood after some past events.
I loved seeing Marisol being loved completely for who she is and not the image she was forced to maintain. Cisco is just absolute perfection, to me at least. He has his flaws which are highlighted in the book but omg being called Princesa will make me melt every single time.

Thank you Anastasia Dean and FlyingPig Pr for this cute Romance ARC.
Marisol needs a change. She is the oldest daughter which puts a lot of pressure on her as her mother is domineering towards her. No matter what she does, and she does try, it is never enough. In her frustration with the situation she decides to try something different, to claim something for herself. She decides to get a tattoo. Which is how she meets Cisco, the tattoo artist, who realizes that Marisol is not his usual client. They each recognize quickly that there is chemistry. But being around Cisco who is interested but respectful and does not push, is good for Marisol as she gets something from him that is missing in her relationship with her mom. He is supportive, not overbearing and that is encouraging to her in a way that she needs. It was so easy to like this pair and to root for them to make it. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Whew, I felt so bad for this girl, Marisol! She let her mom control every aspect of her life and in turn it caused this woman to have the worst spiraling anxiety. She even took it out on her sister and allowed herself to be married to her sisters ex, a man she didn’t even love. I understand how some parents are but I cannot fathom being 30 and living my life for my parents and not for myself. So when my girl met Cesar and rebelled a little with her first tattoo, I was so happy for her! It was the start of taking her life back and living for herself. I’m glad she had that push from her therapist and sister because she definitely wouldn’t have opened up as much as she did. Cesar was everything she needed in her life and he really helped her see her worth and stand up to her mother. He helped her heal in so many aspects of her life and she was the princesa he needed in his life.

Yet another fantastic book from Anastasia Dean! This was a fun, flirty, fast-paced story that I devoured in just a few hours and a great addition to the New Beginnings series.
I think Cisco and Marisol might be my favourite couple in this series. They just gave me good vibes and really balanced each other out. I’d been curious about Marisol since book 1 and wondered if she would get a second chance. Cisco turned out to be just what she needed though. He was such a strong, loyal, generous MMC and it was lovely to see Marisol being spoiled by him.
While it wasn’t necessarily insta-love, it was definitely fast paced. There were plenty of spicy scenes to sink your teeth into but it wasn’t too overwhelming.
LOVE LOVE LOVE !! I read this book in a week because I couldn’t put it down.
From the beginning of the book you are introduced to Marisol a people pleaser who doesn’t live for herself and instead what she think people want her to love and act like ❤️🩹❤️🩹. We have all been there don’t judge her !!
She is finally trying to break the mold and meets a hunk who is the epitome of love ( patience , kind, etc) . He helps her fall In Love with herself and she comes into her self like a phoenix 🐦🔥
SSWWOOONNNN!!!! But don’t fret his character does not take away from Marisol’s adventure back to her self … this book takes you through your feels with self reflection and is beautifully wrapped up in a bow.
MUST READ!!!!
Cannot wait to read other books by this author . ❤️❤️❤️
