This is Arthur Aldridge's story of being an RAF torpedo bomber pilot during the Second World War, of being sent on missions so dangerous that you're later likened to the Kamikaze.
The book follows the wartime exploits of Arthur Aldridge flying torpedo carrying Bristol Beauforts. It focuses mainly on his time flying with 217 Squadron (Coastal Command) in England during the times of the Channel Dash and anti-shipping strikes from Malta before quickly ending with his time in Ceylon where he did little flying and was "holidaying" as he says. It is an entertaining read, full of terror, hardships, heartbreak and youth lost of a man with an interesting wartime career.
