The book follows the wartime exploits of Arthur Aldridge flying torpedo carrying Bristol Beauforts. It focuses mainly on his time flying with 217 Squadron (Coastal Command) in England during the times of the Channel Dash and anti-shipping strikes from Malta before quickly ending with his time in Ceylon where he did little flying and was "holidaying" as he says. It is an entertaining read, full of terror, hardships, heartbreak and youth lost of a man with an interesting wartime career.

Really enjoyed this one, a different side to the war, honest insights which at times hits home, whilst also having a good measure of old school humour
