About the author

As a child, Pamela was lucky enough to grow up in a house full of pets and go to a primary school where lots of spooky and weird things happened (well, in her imagination at least). As a student, Pamela’s student jobs included: fishwife, teaching basketball in America, phlebotomist and Artist Liaison for a (really bad) Abba tribute band. Now, when she’s not writing or going out and about meeting readers, Pamela teaches philosophy to teenagers.

Her top selling stories include The Spy Who Loved School Dinners which won the Blue Peter Best Story Award and My Head Teacher is a Vampire Rat which won The Children’s Book Award. Two of her books, Petunia Peri and There’s a Werewolf in My Tent, were shortlisted for the Lollies – the Laugh Out Loud Awards.

Pamela lives in Dundee with her baby boy and their two awesome cats, Bear & Carlos. If she wasn’t working as a writer and a teacher she’d like to open a luxury hotel for stray cats.

Voor een Cultuur-in-je-rugzak-activiteit naar het LAM-museum in Lisse, zocht ik het meest recente boek over eten in de bieb. Zo kwam ik bij dit boek uit: ik had het niet zo snel zelf gepakt, maar ik vond het toch een grappig verhaal. Lekker toegankelijk, met humor, lekker vlot verhaal en gezellige illustraties. Met zelfs wat economische informatie én kooktips.
En dan stiekem ook nog een verhaal over financiële problemen/armoede, maar ook over vriendschap, doorzetten en vertrouwen.

I enjoyed this! Quintessential Pamela Butchart humour paired with some gorgeous illustrations. This is a quick read that I think kids will love. I really appreciate that it’s a step up from Pamela’s other books - a great next step for those Y4-6s who love her other books. A young lad, an ambition and a brilliant best friend. Some lovely messages about friendship, family and money struggles here too.

Liked it Mabye no cutting hair in case other readers do it and Mabye be grounded also could add more characters to the club so even more pizza can be provided.
I gave it a three which is not like me and I gave a three for the reasons I said but I love palemela butchart with her Izzy and friends,dairy of a super fan.

Unfortunately this book is too real for an adult to enjoy. An irresponsible dad, illegal activity and money worries - yikes, scary for adults.
But for kids? Brilliant! Funny, engaging and an easy read. Great for ages 9 to 13.

Surprisingly good read! I was preparing for a string of disasters, but it turns out the kids did actually pretty well, despite the rocky beginnings. Satisfying, uplifting and heartwarming ending.

It was kind of funny ig but i didnt like how the font was and had exclamation marks for every thing and the random bold words!
