Threads of Honey and Hyacinths: A Spicy Fantasy Romance

Rate this book
Told in Dual POV by Sylvie and Robin

I was born to be a queen, and raised to be a delusional damsel. Now I am a queen, to a king who sickens me more than the sight of a snake devouring its prey whole. That’s exactly what he did to me. He slithered his way into my heart and kingdom, and molded me into the limp-willed wife who forgave him time after time for his ways. But I am done kneeling. Now, three months since he left Osiris, we’re finally talking about divorce. But he won’t put up an easy fight, especially not when desire is crackling inside of me for another man who makes me feel like the kind of queen I’d prefer to be.

I shouldn’t have thought what I did the day I met her, but her cherry red lips and the touch of her hand in mine instantly brought me to my knees. She’s moved into my home, to start finding her freedom, but with every shy laugh and ‘good morning’, she pushes my temptation to the edge. She wants freedom, and I want to give it to her. She proposes a two week plan to get her husband off her back, and see what could come from the electricity that’s been humming between us since the day we met. I want to show her how to escape, but time is not on my side when it comes to how fast I’m falling for her. Will I be her liberation, or the one thing she cannot keep?

Kate Dove’s series has been such an emotional journey so far. The first book focused on Jasper and Sienna’s love story, while the second book pivoted to tell the story of Jasper’s sister, Raven, and her romance with Lucas. Each installment has peeled back new layers of heartache, resilience, and healing—making every character feel deeply connected yet unique in their struggles and triumphs.

Now, in the third book, Threads of Honey and Hyacinths, the spotlight shifts to Sylvie (Sienna’s sister) and Robin (Jasper’s brother). This transition feels seamless yet fresh, giving readers a new story that’s just as captivating as those that came before it.

This book explores the complexity of relationships, the scars left by domestic violence, and the resilience it takes to heal. One of the most powerful aspects of Sylvie’s story is how it portrays the way abuse can hide behind masks and loopholes. At the same time, it highlights the importance of having family and friends who stand by you—offering strength, support, and love throughout painful transitions like divorce. Watching Sylvie find that support and begin to reclaim her life was inspiring.

Alongside her journey, we get a deeper look into Robin’s past. His grief from losing his family has left him broken, hesitant, and unwilling to open his heart again. Being connected to the king and queen also adds a rich layer of setting, offering glimpses of life across different castles and kingdoms. Both Sylvie and Robin have endured incredible pain, yet Dove captures their voices so vividly that their growth feels both raw and hopeful.

Her writing is heartfelt and lyrical, with beautifully detailed character arcs. Lines such as:

“Now, I AM a queen, to a king who sickens me more than the sight of a snake devouring its prey whole. That’s exactly what he did to me. He slithered his way into my heart and kingdom, and groomed me to be the limp-willed wife who forgave him time after time for his ways.”

perfectly capture Sylvie’s anguish and strength.

And then, on the opposite end of the emotional spectrum, the romance with Robin brings lightness and hope:

“When I’m around Robin, I feel exactly as he described the flight; weightless.”
“Every day that goes by where I’m with him, it feels like his magnetic pull is stronger. It’s like a vortex, tugging me little by little into his arms.”

These moments show how love can feel healing, transformative, and—sometimes—closer to home than expected.

Ultimately, this book is so much more than just a love story. It’s about overcoming trauma, facing sadness head-on, and reclaiming the power to decide your own fate. By the end, I was smiling with Sylvie and Robin, moved by their bond, and hopeful for their future.

As one line beautifully sums up:

“We’ll be okay. As long as we have each other.”

A touching, emotional, and empowering sequel—I can’t wait to see where Kate Dove takes this series next. If you crave stories that are emotional, fiery, and unforgettable—Kate Dove delivers the perfect mix of passion, heartbreak, and healing (with plenty of spice).

Another fantastic read in the world that Katie has created! You get your fantasy world with fae and magic but it has touches of the moderne world thrown in here and there and i just think it’s written so well!

I loved Sylvie and Robins story so much!! The plot was amazing and the characters were well written as always! Robin has it BAD for Sylvie and I love that she’s such a little minx! They come up with a plan to “fake date” so Aspen will agree to the divorce and being along for that ride (read) was just as I expected! I loved it!

She calls him “good boy” 😍

And he says “I want to drop to my knees in front of her. I want to grovel at her feet like a man who has nothing, is nothing, and kiss the points of her black stilettos until she kicks my chin away and commands me to submit to her.”

I mean come on, why wouldn’t you want to read this book?! So do it!

The spice is great and i love that we still get glimpses of our other fave characters from books 1&2!

This is book 3 in the series and I am loving the entire thing!

Received this book as an Arc.
First of all I want to thank Katie for allowing me to read this book before it was published.
The story between the main characters is a continuation of the previous book. Robin and Sylvie met the first time after the war and their connection was instant. Robin is the embodiment of a protector, a lover boy and one of the best written men I have had the pleasure to read. He might have been the first one that made me actually screenshot a quote. “I want
to have a life sized marble replica made of her, like the ones we
have for the gods, and placed at my front door so everyone knows
who they answer to.” I want this to be the way any man feels about a woman.
Sylvie learns throughout the book how to stand on her feet, finds her inner strength and her independence.
While the love between the 2 main characters was evident, so was the plot a bit for me. The pace was a bit slow at times and the storyline a bit predictable.
I do recommend the series.

Thank you Katie for sending me this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Pretty good friends to lovers story between Robin and Sylvie. Robin is a dream come true of a man and Sylvie learned how to be tough and strong and be independent. The story did kind of drag on and was slow going at certain points but once you push through the story is really good. Would I recommend this book? Yeah, definitely. Eagerly waiting for the next book.

Another installation of the Threads series, this time focused on Sylvie and Robin (and, unfortunately, Aspen). Sylvie has to find her strength and identity again, and decide what she wants out of life. Without spoilers, I’ll just say that I truly appreciate how the final conflict is resolved, and who makes it happen. Fair warning - this is a VERY spicy book, definitely NSFW!

I received an advance copy of this book; all opinions are my own.

I had the pleasure of receiving this book as an ARC and these opinions are my own.

This is the third in the series and is a pretty good continuation of the prior books.

This was a enjoyable read if you have read the others you should enjoy this too.

Honey and Hyacinths: Sylvie/Robin
So far my favorite of the couples, these two are just so right together. They give me Rosalie/Emmett vibes and as of one my favorite book couples that’s a huge compliment. Loved them.

4 1/4 💜’s.

Each book in the series has only gotten better! This is such a wonderful love story centered around recovery from an abusive relationship. Sylvie finding her confidence again, and Robin who cherishes what he has found and builds her up at every turn. I’m super excited for book 4!

I received this as an ARC, along with copies of the first two books so that I could read them as well. And.. wow. These books just keep getting better!! Between Sienna & Jasper’s love story in the 1st, to the Raven/Ajax/Lucas love triangle in the 2nd, and now Sylvie and Robin?? It’s safe to say, I’m obsessed. Mind you- this is the first series I’ve ever read about “fae” and didn’t think I’d be a big fan in the beginning but wow did that change my mind. Robin is literally a dream man, who shows Sylvie the best version of herself- the strong, confident, beautiful, smart woman that she really is. A woman who Aspen has made to believe that she is weak, fragile, etc. Anyway, I don’t want to post any spoilers so I’ll finish by saying I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy, spice, and love stories.

Thank you Katie for allowing me to be part of your ARC team. I cannot WAIT for book 4!!!
