CORRUPT

This is the prequel to Corrupt Idol, which documents Jesse Sampson’s descent into obsession as he falls for his step-sister, Violet Carr.

It was love at first sight. Violet brought color back into his world after his father died. She needed him as much as he needed her. They weren’t just family, they were best friends. They spent every waking moment together. Everything was perfect… until it wasn’t.

He thought nothing could keep them apart, but he underestimated the hold their conservative, religious background and parent’s approval had on Violet. It stopped her from acknowledging what was between them. To committing to him. And it drove him over the edge.

He didn’t know love could turn him into a monster. He didn’t know that love could become a corrupt obsession that would ruin everything and leave him with nothing. But that’s exactly what happened.

CORRUPT

"I want to be a good man. In every aspect of my life, I'm a model citizen, except when it comes to you."

Once upon a time, Jesse Sampson was her everything—protector, best friend, hero. She idolized him until he betrayed her trust and broke her in the process.

Five years have passed since they’ve laid eyes on one another, but a family emergency calls them home, forcing Violet to endure several weeks in her stepbrother’s presence.

She’s determined to show him how little he affects her. She vows never to let him back in… But Jesse has his own plans.

I have not read this yet but when the fuck is the final story going to be released?!? I don’t need a pointless prequel! It’s been over five years and STILL no conclusion. Just this “prequel” that no one needed. I will buy and read this but I am so over shady publishing practices. Fuck!

⭐⭐.5

I had high hopes in the beginning of this book. I loved Jesse and Violet. They build up and the way they came together was amazingly written. After that, it felt like a completely different author.

This is definitely a Stockholm type situation and he has done nothing but brainwash her and guilt her into these sexual acts.

That car scene before the funeral? It is obvious that he is only about sex. It was so cringy the way he guilted her into it.

Stockholm and Step-siblings can be done well but this just wasn't it.

I am not sure if I was supposed to feel bad for Jesse losing his mom and this was supposed to be a redemption arc type scenario. Either way I still don't like Jesse. His apology was shit.

The few scenes where Violet instigated sex was because he fucked her up so bad mentally. It was the only way she could feel anything.

Also, her dad just accepting what was happening? Be real.

I'm giving 2.5 stars because the writing was good. I kept reading hoping things would change (Violet realizing she did love Jesse or Violet finally cutting him off. I did not get the emotional turmoil Jesse claimed he had, he claims to love Violet and this was his only choice but that did not come across in the writing.

Honestly this duet was just 500 pages of a boy assaulting a girl and the girl doing nothing about it.

Violet was a weak ass bitch basically.
