Finn is book one in The Irishmen series by Melanie Moreland. I fell in love when this author started writing her morally gray characters in the series Men of Hidden Justice and the duet Men of the Falls. So I was beside myself when she announced The Irishmen duet. This first book was everything I hoped it would be. Alpha, protective heroes that will go to the ends of the earth for the woman they love. And strong heroines that also melt your heart.

Finn O’Reilly is thirty eight years old. He owns several both smaller boutique and large casino hotels. He is also head of the syndicate. But Finn is a good leader if there is such a thing. He is ruthless, yes. If you cross him, he will end you. But he is also caring, and stays away from the darkest parts of the world he rules. Being someone in his position, having a soft spot is not something you can afford. But Finn does have one. The beautiful red head that works the front desk of his hotel, and sings in his club every weekend. She is the woman he lives for, breathes for, even though she has made it clear that they can never be together.

Una Murphy is twenty eight years old. She lost her mother young and her father a few years ago. Now there is just she and her older brother, Brian. But in their relationship, Una is more the mother/caregiver than little sister. Una has dreams and she is working everyday to make them come true. One of her biggest joys in life is also singing and she loves her weekends being allowed to sing at the hotel’s club. She also knows that the hotel owner, Finn, wants her. But Una has made a promise to herself. She wants nothing to do with the world Finn belongs to. Finn is her boss and will never be anything more.

“That’s what I did until you came into my life, mo chroi. I survived. Now, I want to live. Feel. Experience everything. With you.”

Una has the biggest, trusting heart. But that trust can also be used against her. When her life is in danger, Finn will go to the ends of the earth to save her. I loved that we also get to see some of the heroes from her other books return to help Finn.

This was truly a wonderful, sweet, steamy, suspenseful book. I love that Melanie has taken this walk on the dark side. We get a little glimpse of what the next book, Niall, who is Finn’s cousin and business partner, will involve. And, I can’t wait.

DNF @ 31% (Spoiler-ish!)

It's a me problem and my beef with second chance romances.

Finn (38, present) and Una (28, present) met when she was just 18. But he didn't do anything with her because at that time he knew she was too young for him. But he also realized right then and there that she was different, and he immediately felt something for her (and she did too).

They met again eight years later, and he still claims to have feelings for her. Whatever. But we also find out that he had been with women since that first night he saw her.

I was captivated by the old soul in the eighteen-year-old body. The wise woman speaking in a girl’s voice. I have compared you to every woman I have met since that day, wondering how they seemed so ordinary next to you.” 🤧

“I’m sure you didn’t let that stop you from enjoying their company,” I teased, yet hated the thought of him with someone else.

He shrugged. “I’ve never been a monk, but I think you’d be surprised at how few I enjoyed, as you put it. How empty I felt with them. How simply being in your presence tonight has filled me in ways I can’t even explain.”
😑

Am I upset about this? Yes and no.

No, because I actually applaud him for walking away and not pursuing a freaking teenager, because duh.

Yes, because it pissed me off knowing Una had been a freaking 26-year-old virgin! 😤 Like, come on! If Finn can get involved with other people while having "feelings" for her, she should be too. This imbalance isn't something new in a second-chance romance, but it still evokes the same annoyance. It just really never fails. 🙄

But don't fret. While he had been with others, it was only Una he had gone bare with. So I guess that should make her special??? I mean, is this supposed to make things better???

She crashed her mouth to mine, stroking, finding me hard and aching for her.

“I’ve never…” she confessed, her voice low.

My breath caught. She would be mine. Completely and utterly mine. The caveman in me roared in satisfaction.

“I’ll use a condom,” I assured her.

“I’m on birth control,” she replied. “I want to feel you, Finn.”

I nuzzled the soft spot behind her ear. “That’ll be a first for me as well.” I had never gone bare with a woman. It was only right somehow that I experienced that with Una.
😒🙄

So they became a couple (26 and 36) and dated for only two months, I think. Then an ambush happened, and Finn took a bullet meant for Una. This experience made her feel scared for his safety, and she saw herself as a liability, so she broke up with him.

Two years later, she's still working at one of his hotels (he hired her before he dated her). And apparently he's still in love with her (vice versa). Thank gawd for the small mercy of his celibacy (I think she was too, bc of course).

Anyway, not for me, and I completely lost my interest. Might work for other readers, though.

This was a sweet mafia romance and it was fine...perhaps just a little too sweet for me though. I appreciated Finn's love and treatment of Una throughout the book. It was, again, very sweet and their chemistry was decent...however, overall, their relationship and Finn's mafia world just felt a little bland. The stakes felt low and I just didn't feel all that invested.

Still, as I said, this was sweet and I liked the characters. Bluntly put, I will probably read the next one as I get it for "free" via Kindle Unlimited. If I had to pay for it, I probably wouldn't.

Melanie Moreland writes the sweetest of Mafia Romances. There's just something that draws me right into this world. They are a classy kind of criminal and it almost feel like "mafia light" until we need some of that viciousness to come out. I think any of the mafia style books from Melanie Moreland would be a great starting point if you want to dip your toe in.

Finn O'Reilly runs his hotel and his syndicate, and he is relly good at it. He has a good life, and he could have anyone he wanted. Unfortunetly, he wants the one woman, Una Murphy, that won't have him. He lost his heart to her years ago, and she couldn't handle the life of loving gangster, of being his witness. They had a love that was strong but fleeting, and all he wants is to rekindle what they had.

Una has done her best to move on from Finn. She has dreams of starting her own business and leaving her ties to the underworld behind. Yet, that seems to be impossible, with Finn lurking around in every room and helping her in ways she can never repay. But when all her resistance beings to fail, Finn will do his very best to remind her of what they could be.

I truly felt the longing and desire Finn had for Una. He is steadfast in his devotion, and though he is giving Una her space, he always planed to prove they were meant to me. As we watch them navigate their separate lives in the presence, we weave in how they first met and what led to their love and eventual parting. I think that was handled very well, and the flashbacks were always very timely and shared just what we needed.

There were still other elements in their way, and the underworld will do it's best to tear them apart. I thought the whole story was well paced and it just flew by. There were also some great cameos from Roman and Aldo. Loved those!

I listened to this on audio and it was narrated in the dual style by John Lane & Maxine Mitchell.

I am REALLY looking forward to Niall's book next month.

I picked this up because i was craving some delicious dark mafia shenanigans and this kinda satisfied it in someways. I wished it was a little more dark but I will take what i can get. I liked the MMC, he was too sweet for a mafia boss(which i surprisedly did not hate) and too sweet and the FMC (girl was showing attitude for very foolish reasons). The FMC on the other hand got my nerves especially when it came to her brother(girl was out here doing the most for a brother that sold her into sex trafficking/slavery). Glad she came to her sense to finally appreciate how amazing the MMC was.

Overall this was a good read with a little bit of grit action and amazing chemistry. I look forward to reading Niall and Anna's book

Holy shit, she tops my list of extremely selfish unlikable heroine ever. He worships the ground she walks on but she's such a bitch to him for no reason. Finn deserved so much better!

I, for once wish there was another woman for him just cause i want her to suffer in jealousy. Sadly, there was no ow and he was head over heels in love with this stupid fuck

Gotta love the Canadian grey men from Melanie Moreland

I just love the romantic suspense from Melanie Moreland. Especially when they are “Canadian grey” (IYKYK). Finn is included with all the Canadian gray heroes. This story is a second chance with a morally grey character, Finn, who has never stopped loving the red headed daughter of a loyal solder, Una. He becomes enchanted with her when they first meet at a dinner. She was 18 and he was 28. There is an age gap between the two but Una’s old soul makes these two characters connect. Finn doesn’t try anything with Una but quietly protects her from afar. When Una’s father dies, these two reconnect and there starts their relationship. When these two connect, their connection ignites. However, a situation happens that scares Una enough to break things apart. The two orbit each other but stay in the friend zone… that is until Una’s brother becomes an issue to the both of them. The story does go into the past a few times. I read this book in a day and wished the second book was already available… thankfully, I wont have too much of a wait. If you like a morally grey man with a cinnamon roll heart, then Finn will be your cup of tea.

I basically read this in one day. What can I say it’s a Melanie book. I didn’t lose any sleep this time around however Finn will captivate you. His love for Una is something not everyone has. She just needed to get past the fact of who he is and what he does besides loves her. She sees a side of him that very few people see. She decides that she would rather be with Finn than the half living that the both of him have been doing since their brief time together previously. No other will love or keep her safe like Finn can.

Finn was my first Melanie Moreland mafia romance, and I discovered she also writes sweet mafia heroes, just like her contemporary romances. This is the first book in the Irishmen duet, but it is the complete story for Finn and ends with an HEA.

Finn O’Reilly is the head of the Toronto syndicate and also runs a few casinos and hotels. He has been in love with Una for years, and he has been biding his time to get her back. They were previously in a relationship, and she broke things off due to his dangerous lifestyle. She works at his front desk and also sings at his casino. Her brother also works for Finn, but he is a complete screw-up. He gets away with a lot because he knows how much Finn loves his sister, and if anything happened to him, she would never forgive him.

Finn is done waiting for Una and makes his intentions known, and Una comes to realize she has been hurting them both by not being with him. They were sweet and devoted to each other. I loved how patient and devoted Finn was to Una.

Una's unwavering loyalty to her loser brother was frustrating, especially when his behavior was escalating.

I really enjoyed this mafia and would be interested in reading the other duet with Roman after he showed up in this book. I am excited to get to Niall's book next.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧
This audiobook was dual narrated by John Lane & Maxine Mitchell. John Lane's Irish accent was perfection and made this audiobook even better. Maxine Mitchell showed the strong, loyal, and vulnerable parts of Una beautifully. I would highly recommend the audio.

🎧📚AUDIO & EBOOK REVIEW📚🎧

It is good to be inside back in a “morally grey” world created by Melanie Moreland!

Finn, the first book in The Irishmen Duet took me a little bit by surprise. What I mean by that is that there isn’t much about the book that is a “surprise” and I would even go as far as saying it is “predictable” but despite those things, I was captivated and enraptured by not just the storyline but Finn & Una as well! 🎉SURPRISE!🎉 Feel me?! I was rooting for Finn & Una from the very beginning and their story made me happy for them and even though I knew what was coming, I still could not stop devouring their story! It’s a story of family, found and blood. It’s a story of love and its power of hope and will. It’s not a “long” story yet it’s thorough and developed perfectly. I loved the appearance of past characters and the set-up for Niell. I loved the emotion woven throughout every aspect of the story, both good and bad, and I loved that every circumstance had a purpose and was integral in the journey to the ❤️‍🔥sweet spot❤️‍🔥!

🎧I really enjoy both 🎙️John Lane & Maxine Mitchell🎙️’s voices and they make an excellent pairing! I’ve gotten to know their range and versatility quite well in the last few years due mostly to their performances of Melanie’s audiobooks. They bring something special to every character that they perform, and they do it superbly! 5 STAR performance to them both!

Finn by Melanie Moreland
4/5⭐
3/5🌶️

I just finished my first mafia romance book by this author, and I enjoyed it! While there were moments of violence and a few triggering themes, the love story between the main characters, Finn and Una, was so sweet and tender. I loved how Finn always treated Una with kindness and respect. From the moment they met, he felt a strong connection with her, but she was only eighteen, so he let her follow her dreams.

Fast forward a few years, and they meet again at her father's funeral. Her dad was one of Finn's soldiers who died bravely protecting him. The chemistry between Finn and Una is still there, and he decides to pursue her. But things take a turn when Finn nearly dies, leaving Una scared and ending their brief relationship. Now Una works at one of Finn's hotels, and despite everything, Finn is still deeply in love with her and is determined to show her that their love is worth fighting for.

Una is a strong, smart, and independent woman—qualities I admire. She works hard to chase her dreams and has such a big heart. After her parents passed away, her only family left is her brother, who unfortunately isn't the most dependable guy and can be arrogant and reckless at times. It was a bit frustrating to see Una constantly take his side and forgive him, but it showed just how compassionate she is. Finn is always open about his feelings for Una. He clarifies that his love for her hasn’t changed, and I love how protective he is of her. He gives her the space she needs while ensuring she feels safe and happy.

Overall, this was such an enjoyable read! There were plenty of action-packed moments that kept me on the edge of my seat, and the romance was beautifully sweet and passionate. The side characters were fantastic too, supporting each other and having each other's backs.

I loved how Finn just loved Una no holds barred!
Once Una saw her brother for who he became and accepted the totality of being with Finn,I liked her more.
I can't wait for Niall's and Anna's book.
It was good seeing prior characters of Roman,Luca, and Aldo, and snippets with their wives.

Finn is the ruthless head of an Irish syndicate, but even the coldest hearts have their soft spots—and for Finn, it’s always been Una. She’s the one woman he’s never been able to forget… or let go of. Even though Una wants nothing to do with him, Finn doesn’t back down.

Man, the things this man did for her? It was everything, he is possessive, protective, and so devoted to her. There’s a push-and-pull between them that had me hooked, and the chemistry? Off the charts. Add in some high-stakes action and a cast of loyal, lovable side characters, and this book really delivered.

I’ve been waiting for this one since the last mafia duet dropped, and Melanie didn’t disappoint. As per her signature style, even with the violence and darker themes, her romance always fell on the sweet side. I was a bit bummed there was no epilogue (I live for those!), but I’m guessing we’ll see more in Niall and Anna’s story. I’m so ready.

Now let’s talk narration: I didn’t think I could love John Lane more… and then he broke out the Irish accent. OMG. I was in heaven. He nailed the broody, sexy Irishman vibe — completely swoon-worthy. Maxine Mitchell was fantastic as always — her range and emotional delivery never miss, and yes, her Irish accent was actually really solid too. Together, they brought so much depth to the story and made Finn and Una’s intense connection feel so real.

Highly recommend if you’re into broody Irish mafia bosses, second-chance romance, and audiobooks that make your heart race—in all the best ways.

This was a surprisingly romantic crime syndicate book! We get introduced to Finn & Una as reluctant exes & Finn is still clearly head over heels for her. He makes no secret of his love for her, but continues to give her space at her request (he still watches over her constantly and in a somehow not creepy way). We learn Una's father was one of Finn's syndicate members who sadly passes away - leaving her to help care for her emotionally immature brother. That same brother quickly becomes Una & Finn's biggest problem to overcome besides fighting their love for each other. The spice was fire but also exceptionally romantic which was so wonderful.

The action in the last quarter or so of the book puts Una in a horrible place where Finn is desperate to save her. Along with Niall, his cousin and right-hand man, he rushes to find her before the worst can happen. The ending of the book sets us up for the next book - Niall - and I am very excited for that one!

Thank you to the author & The Author Agency for the ARC and chance to read & review this book!

If you love the author’s Men of the Falls Series or authors like Neva Altaj and Michelle Heard, then this book is for you!

When the book starts, the MCs are broken up, but this isn’t your stereotypical second chance romance.
The MCs where together but due to an incident, Una broke up with Finn. While I understand her reasoning behind the breakup, it does seem a bit juvenile at times, given the fact that she remains in that world and her loyalty to her brother (you’ll understand when you read the book!). Neither ever really move on and everyone knows that it's only a matter of time until they are back together.
Once they are reunited, they form a strong bond against the world and Una is fully ready to stand by her man!

Finn is completely taken with Una and he is the dictionary definition of boy obsessed! You can’t help but fall in love with him when he read his POV from the minute he met Una to how to still cares for her & protects her even after breaking up.

If you want a mafia romance where you don’t have any doubts between the MCs, just some thriller, then this is the book for you! You also get lots of crossovers from the MCs of the Men of the Falls Series which was great!

While it hasn't been confirmed yet, you can hedge a pretty good guess about the FMC in Niall's book, and I can't wait to see him become a simp for her!

Wow!
The intensity of this storyline kept me riveted to my seat!

Finn has certainly done well for himself, and runs his crew fairly and strongly, his one weakness being Una Murphy, who - much to his frustration - does not want to be part of his dangerous world. His morally grey, controlling personality, along with his hotter than hot appearance and charisma is getting harder and harder for Una to resist.
Unfortunately, that won't be her choice for long. Her brother isn't what he should be, and his actions set up a chain of events that she is unprepared for... and doesn't understand until it's too late.

Una is an easy character to love, and it was entertaining to see the level of devotion Finn has to her happiness. Their steamy chemistry is never in question, and is laced into everything he does for and with Una. Unfortunately, even with all of his love, control and care, difficult and troubling things happen to her, and she needs him to be her hero, and quick!!

This is full of everything we want in an Irish mafia read: Betrayals, bloodshed, family ties, loyalties, violence, retribution, and more. I really enjoyed the layers in the story, and the twists and turns it took, before they reached their "Happy for now" HEA. This does end on a cliffhanger (kinda), as Niall's story will be finishing this story, and I can't wait!

I was fortunate to receive an ARC (thank you) and voluntarily leave my review.

WOW, Melanie Moreland—what a phenomenal way to kick off a new series! Finn, the first book in The Irishmen series, delivers everything I crave in a mafia romance: intensity, longing, danger, and a love that refuses to die.

This Canadian-Irish Syndicate romance is a breathtaking second-chance story that had me hooked from the very beginning. Finn, our broody, dangerous Irish mafia boss, is all hard lines and deadly charm—except when it comes to Urn, the woman who’s owned his heart for years. For a few fleeting months, he had it all: the woman he loved, by his side. But Urn, born into the mafia world, made the heartbreaking choice to walk away from the relationship, unwilling to live a life steeped in danger and violence.

Yet, even as she left, Finn couldn’t truly let her go.

With a heavy heart, Urn stepped away from the man she loved, but Finn kept her close—giving her a job at his casino, ensuring she stayed in his orbit and, more importantly, under his protection. Their connection simmers, never fully extinguished, and when danger creeps too close, Finn is forced to step back into her life in a way neither of them can ignore.

The passion between them reignites—hotter, deeper, more explosive than ever. But just as they find their way back to each other, betrayal and danger strike, and I was left breathless, clutching the edge of my seat. The twists, the emotion, the fire—it’s all here. From start to finish, Finn is unputdownable.

Melanie Moreland proves yet again that she’s a master storyteller. Whether she’s delivering small-town sweetness, laugh-out-loud romcoms, or dark, gritty mafia romance—she never misses. Finn is everything I hoped it would be and more. I can’t wait for what’s next in The Irishmen series!

ARC/ALC Review
Release Date: May 22, 2025
Narrated by: John Lane & Maxine Mitchell
Tropes: Morally Grey | Crime/Syndicate | Second Chance | Found Family | Touch Her and Die | Alpha Male/Protector | Boss | Heroine in Peril | Date Me Not My Job

Melanie Moreland kicks off The Irishmen series with a bang in Finn, delivering a gripping blend of heat, suspense, and emotion wrapped in the world of crime and second chances.

Finn O’Reilly is everything you’d want in a morally grey MMC—commanding, loyal, and quietly intense. As the boss of a Toronto-based syndicate, he’s built a world of structure and power, but there’s one crack in his armor: Una Murphy. The woman he let go. The woman he still loves. And when her life is suddenly in danger, Finn will do anything to protect her, no matter the cost.

I loved Finn’s mix of alpha energy and genuine tenderness. He’s fierce in business, loyal to his people, and completely gone for Una. The found family dynamics and fierce protectiveness gave the story warmth to balance the darker, grittier elements. The chemistry between Finn and Una is strong, though I personally wished the slow burn had been slower—a bit more tension and longing would’ve added even more payoff.

Narration-wise, this was top-tier. John Lane’s Irish accent brought Finn to life perfectly, adding a layer of authenticity and gravitas. Maxine Mitchell, as always, delivered a smooth, emotionally resonant performance that grounded Una’s character beautifully.

Overall, Finn is a promising start to what looks to be an addictive, high-stakes romance series. A must-read if you love protective crime bosses, fierce heroines, and second chances wrapped in danger and desire.

Thank you to the author agency and publisher for the ARC and ALC.

Another absolute delight
5 stars

For those people, like me, who normally hard pass on any book that claims to be part of a duet - fear not; this book stands completely alone. It’s the story of Finn and Una complete with their happily ever after. The second book in this duo is Niall - the story of Finn’s business partner, and Anna.

Finn O’Reilly has a lot going on in his life - and only some of those things relate to the syndicate (read: mafia crime organisation) that he runs. He’s a hard, cold man - feared by many and with good reason. His one weakness? Una. The girl he waited for, finally got, then lost when his job got between them. She’s it for him - he just needs to convince her to take another chance on him.

I liked the dichotomy of Finn; a hard, cold, syndicate boss whose one weakness is a woman that he is utterly gone for. And he’s a big ol’ teddy bear for her and it was so fun to watch him try so hard to bide his time and not just take what he wants. Yes, he’s a mafia boss, but I still liked him. His morals were still on the straight and narrow so I had no problem throwing myself behind him and rooting for him to win his woman. And I have to reassure folks from Ireland - Finn and Niall are Irish and we do head to Ireland briefly in the story - but the fiddle-dee-deeing is thankfully at a minimum.

While Una really holds all the power in their relationship, she really doesn’t have a clue about that fact. I really liked and understood Una and her feelings. Even understood her reasoning for putting the brakes on any kind of relationship with Finn. What I especially liked is that she obviously cared about Finn and honestly thought she was doing the best thing. But when she realised her actions might be a little bit selfish - she owned up to that fact. So honest and accountable - I was definitely going to root for her, too.

Because our pair have already had a short relationship, they obviously know each other well. That means we don’t need the usual build up as the couple get to know each other. And it means that there’s already the emotion and sexual tension sizzling between our pair. Oh, and that delicious, angsty tension of unrequited feelings (even though they’re obviously requited!). That sizzle turns to a fire when our pair finally get back to business. It’s a Melanie Moreland book so expect heat, high frequency and have a fan at the ready. Oooft.

I liked watching Finn and Una dance around each other and ultimately figure out what they want from their lives and each other. Their story is fairly simple (except, well, emotions) but it’s added to by the things happening in Finn’s life, Una’s life and the life of the syndicate. There are a few suspenseful moments but nothing that terrorised me, thankfully.

For Moreland aficionados, the hotel that Finn bases his organisation is the one that Roman from the Men of the Falls series, used to own. In fact, Roman (and to a lesser extent Aldo, Vi and Effie) makes an appearance in this book, too. But if you haven’t read their books, you won’t miss out.

I honestly don’t know how Melanie Moreland does it. First, how does she even entice me to read a book that is so foreign to my usual tastes? Mafia, “Irish” stories are so not my bag. Yet here I am. And I’m obsessed. Obsessed. Thankfully, it’s not too dark of a story - despite the mafia, murder etc - and none too scary. But that’s all details for the main attraction - the romance between Finn and Una - which I adored and was absolutely thrilled with. Another winner from Melanie Moreland and one of my favourites from this year. 5 stars.

I think obsessed is the perfect word to describe how I feel about Una and Finn. I absolutely loved how in love they were with each other. Doesn't matter how much time they spent apart their chemistry and connection never went away.

Finn gave slight stalker but in a green flag kind of way. This man knew he every move and whenever he had the time he always had his eyes on her. She knew that he was always watching and loved it. They matched each other perfectly.

He was protective and even though he was this big scary mafia guy he practically turned into a teddy bear whenever they were alone. I LOVE how from the beginning he never hesitated to tell her how much he loves her and show her support. Una was very sweet and a hardworker. I liked her character a lot she was very independent but man did I want to shake her a little bit. She's seems like someone that always tries to see the good in people especially when it comes to family and that definitely kept her eyes closed when they needed to wide open😭😭.

The romance part of this was phenomenal but I also enjoyed what was going on in the background as well. It kept me at the edge of my seat bc I knew something was bound to happen I just didn't know when so that kept me on my toes most of the book.

I am looking forward to Nialls book so bad.

“𝕄𝕠 𝕔𝕙𝕣𝕠í, 𝕊𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕞𝕖.”

A morally grey Irish mafia cinnamon roll was something I didn’t realized I needed. This man will have you hooked from the beginning and never let you go.

Finn is the one of the heads of the syndicate his focus is more on his hotel business mainly his employee/ ex girlfriend Una. Una’s goal has always been to open an hotel she currently works for Finn as a singer and front desk. They very much still have that love between them and they didn’t end for anything other than Una does not want to be apart of that lifestyle. The biggest thorn in their side is her brother but he is also the reason they find their way to each other.

This is sweet, spicy and suspenseful that end had me nervous. I enjoyed these two and cannot wait for Niall’s book I know he will sweep us off our feet the same as Finn did.

When the author announced a duet of these Irish men I was ecstatic. She already had Roman and Aldo living rent-free in my mind so I knew that Finn and Niall would soon be occupying the space. This author brought her A-game and had me falling hard and instant. Finn is all things you could want from a mmc: loyal, sexy, patient, possessive and only has eyes for the fmc. I am enamoured. The characters are so well-written they feel so real. In my mind Finn is the hot boss you crushed on and Una was the friend you had to knock a few times to make see sense. She irritated me in all the good ways. Her loyalty was admirable but also annoying. It was a situation where she needed some tough love and in my mind I gave her that. All in all, I wouldn’t change a thing about this story. These way these characters are developed to the path they walk is what makes this book extraordinary. The icing on the cake was seeing my men of the falls make their appearances. Love, love, love this book!

Utter perfection. When John Lane says mo chroi, I swear to you I felt it deep in my soul. These two slay every role they perform and there is no doubt in my mind that their chemistry is out of this world. The narration of Finn’s character exceeded all my expectations. The lilt of his Irish accent wasn’t overpowering, it had me in a trance. I was transported into the story getting caught up in Finn and Una’s journey. And Maxine, just like John, always, always embraces her role and makes it wholly hers. I’m a hopeless romantic and this one hits all the feels. I highly recommend the audiobook!

This is my first book by this author but not my last. I loved this story so much.

Finn and Una have loved each other since they first started dating. However, after one terrible incident, Una believes Finn is better off without her and is adamant they stay apart. Finn respects her decision, keeping Una close but giving her space until he realises how short life is. Will Una finally give in to her feelings? Can Finn convince her to give him a second chance, despite the danger his job brings?

This story had the perfect balance of romance, suspense and spice, while still having some sweet moments. I was hooked from page one. I loved how fast-paced this book is. There is no moment the author allows you to become bored or even take a breather.

“That’s what I did until you came into my life, mo chroi. I survived. Now, I want to live. Feel. Experience everything. With you.”

I enjoyed the unique style the author used to show us how Finn and Una met and the events of their past. Rather than a dual timeline, we were given brief glimpses into their history, which left the reader wanting more.

We received hints of book two and I am so excited to read it!

Thank you to author Melanie Moreland and The Author Agency for this advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

Spicy! Sassy!!!!!!!!! Suspenseful!!!!!!!!!

Although Finn is a part of the Irish Mafia, he is still his own man, and takes his responsibilities seriously. He keeps his hotel and other holdings running smoothly. When revenge is warranted, he handles it swiftly and privately.

I understand Una's hesitation, she knew what the Irish Mafia was all about, and she didn't want to watch the violence take away someone else she loved. Unfortunately, her brother was a jerk and put them both in danger. The story was great, but the ending was abruptly rushed!

Every new book that I read from Ms Moreland, I find myself another new hero and Finn is just that!! What an amazing story. It is one of love and strength. Love that can face the future and not look back. Strength to persevere all that life throws at us.

Finn has always loved one person….Una. Una saw Finn’s world and said she would never live in it. But when their worlds become intertwined, will the strength of their love be enough to hold them together? Loved this book!!! Great start to another series!!

3.25 ⭐️

The emotional tension between Finn and Una was immediate, angsty, and delivered that intense, second-chance dynamic. However, I felt the overarching syndicate plot and its level of danger were slightly underdeveloped and too straightforward; the external conflict, particularly Una's continued resistance due to his job, felt a bit repetitive at times and overshadowed the genuinely high-stakes moments. Ultimately, it’s a fast-paced, spicy read fueled by excellent chemistry, but I wished the suspense elements matched the intensity of the romance to truly elevate the story.

just finished reading this ARC of Finn. it was good.

things stopping it from being great for me -
-a little too much Instalove for me. I like a more angsty male MMC
-a little too much conversation between the characters. I'd like their thoughts behind their answers

Overall it was a good book. Una had great character development and I love a morally grey MMC. The storyline was good and I was never a fan of Unas brother. I cant wait for Niall, the next Irishman book!

**audio review**

This book was fantastic. EVERYTHING I love in a good romance. Melanie writes the tortured morally grey alpha and the sweet innocent woman so perfectly. Her mafia stories are what I love most of her writing. She keeps me coming back for more with these type of stories.

Finn and Una have history. They have chemistry. They have an undeniable connection. I loved the way their story evolved into that once in a lifetime love. Their story is filled with suspense, sweet romance, spice and family.

Whew John Lane was perfect for Finn. That accent and emotion he brought to the characters was exceptional. Maxine Mitchell didn’t skimp either. She brought Una to life amazingly. These two together made this book so much enjoyable to listen to.

From the first to last page this book had me enthralled with the exceptional story and characters. I can’t wait for dive into Niall’s book next and see where Melanie leads us next.

Finn and Una's romance is heartachingly beautiful. Sweetness and spice, drama and thrills, humor and heart, twist and action, and an ocean of emotions and feels await you once you dive in. The gripping and moving story flows like silk throughout this book while delivering a heartstring tugging, swoon inspiring, fall head over heels TKO right to your heart. I loved it and I cannot wait to read Niall's story ASAP.

One of the worst mafia romances I have ever read.

Finn is a head of the Irish mafia. He dated Una for a while but she left him when she couldn’t deal with the lifestyle. In spite of that, he pines for her and she still loves him.

The worst part of this book was Una. She was ridiculously protective of her brother to the point of frustration. She was supposed to be “a good judge of character” but let her brother get away with literal murder. She was so willing to cut Finn out of her life in spite of loving him but she was all in with her brother and he was so much worse!! They tried to give him a redemption but it honestly didn’t work for me.

Also, Una was just too stupid to live and I honestly hoped she would die so Finn could find someone else. She went back to her apartment I think three times during this book and every time something bad happened to her, escalating all the way to kidnapping. And then in the closer of the book when everything’s resolved, she brings up going back to her apartment again. I wanted to scream.

Do not read this book. I wish I hadn’t read this book. I’m never reading this book again and I’m never recommending this book.
