Dina Marie is the pen name of award-winning novelist Dina Santorelli, who has been obsessed with all things ghost since . . . well, forever. Married on Halloween, she likes vacationing in spooky cities and visiting cemeteries and haunted hotels. A recent visit to Salem, Massachusetts, inspired her Salem Spirits series, which she wrote, in part, for her mom, a lover of cozy mystery TV.
I was a bit torn on how to rate this book compared to the third. Book one and two are without a doubt my favourites, but between book three and four what one lacked the other one provided. I came to the conclusion that what book four provided outweighed that of book three.
Before I get into the review I would like to throw in the recommendation that you read the books in order, although they technically can be read as stand-alones.
So what does this book bring to the table? The chain of events overall follow those of the previous books, however this book brings in the aspect of how past traumas, even generational ones, impact who you are today. With that I see more character development in this book than the previous.
The fact that William was as present as he was, although he was thousands of miles away, is a huge plus for me. I am amazed at how good Dina is at navigating 19th century William's journey into a modern society, without loosing his character and origin.
After the ending of this book, I am looking forward to discovering what happens next!.

Clara and William are back! And not a moment too soon, as I've been missing some cozy mysteries.
Dina Marie never really disappoints, and I can't wait for Clara to kick that silly journalist's butt for running rings around her. This book's murder dealt with family and fame, and I have to admit - I knew who did it immediately.
A similar case was handled by a savvy Belgian detective with a large moustache once, and he said that you have to pay attention to what others don't see. He was right. The murderer's reasons were what I was interested in, after.
The only thing that's beginning to bug me is Clara's occasional cluelessness. It was kind of cute how she waffled the first few books but, at this point, she NEEDS to not behave like a barely twenty-something college student, and if she's going to be investigating, to put some power behind her words, not stand there shuffling from foot to foot while a person's waiting for her to tell them why she's there. How she hasn't been accused more often is beyond me with how she can't seem to not behave shiftily.
And I suppose I'll have to settle for Sebastian ... sigh, you'll always be my first choice, William!
Love this series! There was a large ghost presence in this book. Which is what I think was missing in the last book. It has been fun watching the characters grow. They are all likable and the story runs smoothly. It’s just an enjoyable book.
I love this series, but this one was not my favourite. I enjoyed that she was on an adventure and the texts from William, but I missed him and Ghost Cat and Boy! Hopefully the next book will be in Salem so we get more of them.
~ Thank you to BookSirens for the free ARC! My review is my honest opiniom given voluntarily. ~
I am very much enjoying this series. This is Book 4 and I highly recommend you reading the series in order so you can get a sense of Clara's growth, how much she has overcome to get to where she is now, and William's growth as well. They are quick, engaging reads that move smoothly and I think you'll have a lot of fun reading them.
This book finds Clara going across the country to Vegas to a business conference. A lot of her friends/business owners in Salem are going together as a group. Clara is excited about opening her B&B in Salem but terrified of all of the aspects opening a new business involves, especially the marketing aspect. I think I too would be terrified if I were opening a small business having never owned a business before. What she didn't expect to happen was for a woman to be murdered practically before her very eyes on the first night of the conference. The police ruled it a suicide but the woman's ghost says otherwise. Clara has to make an important decision if she wants to be a part of helping these ghosts move to the other side by solving the mystery of their murders because she knows now, especially living in a town like Salem, MA, that opportunities like these are going to arise often.
I love how Clara reflects back to her life with her former husband. How he held her back for so long and now she is breaking free and embracing that freedom to do what she wants, when she wants, and how she wants.
Williams is embracing the world of technology. Once upon a time on first meeting Clara Kelly, he wanted her out of 'his house.' It had sat empty for so long and that was really all Wiliam knew. But Clara and William have formed a bond and Clara considers him family as well as Boy and ghost cat. Renovations are being done on Kensington House while Clara is in Vegas and William keeps Clara up-to-date on all things happening back in Salem while Clara is away. His 1800 dialect and his mannerisms are a nice vintage addition to the storyline. I can't wait to see what is in store for Clara in the future.

At first, Clara Kelly's business trip to Las Vegas was going well. She and her cohorts from Salem, who joined her for the conference, were enjoying a pleasant evening with a wonderful dinner and a performance by a venerable star from the musical stage. But then the performer, resting on the 27th-floor balcony, suddenly tumbled to the ground below. Now, Clara had a problem on her hands: how to convince the police that the incident, deemed a suicide, was a murder as the ghost insisted.
I am amazed at the creative way the author removed the main character from her usual surroundings and yet still had all the usual side characters able to interact with her. The Las Vegas setting was both necessary to the story and also a fabulous backdrop. The correspondence with home was sheer brilliance.
Clara Kelly is a delightful character who is completely genuine. I would honestly want to be friends with someone like her - even if she does talk to ghosts! I also like that she uses her past hurts to inform her current experiences; no longer will people manipulate her. Clara is strong but retains the essential kindness of a compassionate person.
As for Clara's detecting, she takes risks that push me out of my comfort zone. When Clara is out and about, I find myself frightened for her. Would that I had Clara's courage. She does know how to bring about results, though!
As with any Dina Marie book, I read through this in one sitting as the story gripped me and wouldn't let go. Oh, so good. I highly recommend this story for cosy lovers who are fond of a little otherworldliness.
Thank you to Dina Marie and BookSirens for the opportunity to read this digital ARC. As always, my opinions are my own, honest and true.
Clara Kelly is finally making her first trip to the Salem Small Business Group’s conference in Las Vegas now that she is a businesswoman, owner of a B&B, just awaiting the final painting, sanding of floors, and anything else the Salem Historical Society allowed. Prep would start today and the work will be started the following day. Her nineteenth-century ghost, William, tries to calm her down as she is sure she has forgotten something. She was leaving her dog, Boy, with Sebastian at The Pampered Pup and had his things packed. Ghost Cat came in to see her off.
There was a dinner and entertainment provided in the evening. The entertainment was a celebrated theater actress in her 70’s, Angela Decatur, who sang wonderful songs while her troupe danced behind her. Afterward, she walked out on the balcony. Some time later, a scream had everyone looking at the balcony and a sobbing waitress who pointed at the edge, claiming that she saw Angela Decatur jump from the balcony! The police arrived and declared the death was a suicide. But Clara, who has her own ghosts at home, meets the actress’ ghost insisting she was murdered and had not committed suicide as everyone was speculating! Will Clara be willing to investigate to identify Angela’s killer and bring justice to the actress? Can she convince the police this was a planned murder? And will Clara notice that she wasn’t the only one who could hear Angela talking to her… was that someone the killer perhaps?
Clara Kelly has high expectations for her first business conference. A trip to Las Vegas with fellow Salem business owners is sure to help her get her B&B off the ground. What she doesn’t expect is to help another ghost solve their murder. However, when police rule legendary actress Angela Decatur’s death a suicide, and her ghost appears to Clara, she realizes she has to help. Can Clara find a killer in between learning to run a business?
While the fourth book in the Salem Spirits series, this was my first read from this author. I was hooked immediately and found Clara to be a relatable character, especially as a survivor of domestic violence. I felt that mystery worked well despite not having prior knowledge of the characters, and I will definitely be going back to read the previous books. Angela was perfection as the aging actress with a tragic past. The numerous references to her career roles lent a touch of humor and made the character more realistic. Her advice to Clara was inspiring as well. Another highlight was the revelation that someone else in Salem shares Clara’s ability to interact with ghosts. I’m looking forward to seeing how that friendship develops in the future.

Firstly, thank you to BookSirens for this ARC. When I got the email that there was a new installment in the Salem Spirits Cozy Mystery series, I immediately downloaded it and dove into it as soon as I could.
I wasn't sure how to feel about this book not being set in Salem like the previous ones, but it turned out just as great.
Clara just wants to learn how to run her new B&B, but at the business convention, an actress dies. Everyone assumes it to be a suicide, but the ghost insists she was murdered.
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching Clara grow as a character from book one, and she's definitely more comfortable with her ability to see and help ghosts in this book. I was just as confused as she was about who the killer could be and I never would have guessed it.
I enjoyed that William still had a small part to play even from thousands of miles away. Reading about how he learns the 21st century technology is always hilarious. If only we all had ghosts to hang out with.
I love this series and am looking forward to the next installment. I'm curious to see how everything plays out once Clara actually opens the Bed & Breakfast.
This is perhaps my favorite book of the series so far!
First, it takes place in one of my favorite cities- Las Vegas! Of course if Clara is around a murderer is too! I had an idea of who it was sooner this time than in past books she’s written, but it was still a fun murder mystery!
I loved getting to see Alice finally open up and talk about her past. Definitely shocking the secret she reveals. I hope we get to learn more about her in the next book- and just maybe her and Clara will solve the next mystery together!
I LOVED reading William’s text messages and emails- Dina Marie is a true genius writing all the terms one from the 1800s might have said. Once again I’m looking forward to the next book!
I have received an advanced reader copy of this book and it is my pleasure to leave my honest review
This is an outstanding series! Clara finally got the chance to travel for a change and she arranged it so work will be done on her forthcoming B&B while she will be attending a conference on small business with other residents of Salem. Her friend Sebastian will be watching Boy for her and she put William in charge of the B&B. Surprisingly, they can text. Not surprisingly, there’s a murder while Clara is at a conference in Las Vegas that she gets pulled into by the victim, er ghost. The plots in this series are all well laid out, I always have to keep reading to find out whodunit and the characters are all engaging! I highly recommend this series to all lovers of paranormal cozy mysteries.

Clara goes to a B&B seminar, and someone is murdered, but everyone thinks it was suicide!!! This was non stop sleuthing while Clara attends seminar classes. I got a bit creeped out when Clara was questioning possible suspects . Who knew whodunit!!!
Alice's fear was a real and scary thing for her to overcome, but she made progress and showed growth. I loved the supernatural aspects of the story. It was great to see how well William is adapting and grow. Between Clara and Angela putting the pieces together, they figured out whodunit. The connections were astounding!! It kept me guessing and turning pages. I voluntarily read a free copy of this provided by book sirens and am giving an honest review.
This is the fourth book I have read in the Salem Spirit Cozy mysteries. This book was interesting with Clara joining other local small business owners for a business start up convention in Las Vegas. Sadly someone dies while they are there and the ghost finds Clara and wants her help. Was it an accident, a suicide, or murder. There is a big surprise you will find out that should show up again once they are back home and in the next book. The only thing I was disappointed in was not as much story including William. I really enjoy the friendship between Clara and William. This was another fun read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily..
I love this cozy but feel good mystery, proves it’s possible to have mystery that isn’t a downer. I really enjoy this series and look forward to see Clara’s future adventures. I find that in some books when they solve a murder that I’m wanting to yell at the character for putting themselves in danger. In this series she does occasionally but not to the extent of wanting to yell and therefore although I’m emotionally attached, I’m not getting annoyed and it’s nice to read a book that’s a mystery and really enjoyable and easy to read. I found this book engaging and gripping. I was hooked the first chapter and enjoyed reading about Clara and her ghost companions. Clara goes to Vegas for a business conference and while there a famous actress dies mysteriously. Clara is thrown in and investigates her death and discovers more about the actress and herself. I read this so quickly because I wanted to find out who did it. There were twists and turns in every chapter. Incredible story and characters. Clara and her friends attend a business conference in Las Vegas..never expecting to encounter a ghost with a past!! Loved this new book in the series engaging characters, some answers to past revelations, mystery and suspense as the story plot unfolds, friendship building, even possibly budding friend/kinship building?? William is such a smart (already has learned how to use a modern mobile phone) and handy ghost… handsome too. Enjoy his gentleman personality.
Clara is trying to renew her education on opening a B&B by attending a conference with friends in Las Vegas. But action happens and new friends emerge, as well as ghost friends. Hang on for a fun ride.
Yes I enjoyed and recommend.

Each instalment of this series is well written and engaging.
The mysteries are well thought out and intriguing.
Best of all are the main characters that populate this series. I absolutely love the relationship between Clara and William. Add into the mix the loveable dog Boy and the mischievous Ghost Cat and what we get is a delightful and unique family dynamic that is charming and spellbinding to read.

Clara is away on a business trip to Las Vegas, to attend a conference to learn how to run a bed and breakfast. When suddenly a famous actress' suicide interrupts proceedings. Soon Clara is chatting to Angela Decatur the deceased and believes her death wasn't a suicide but a murder! So starts an attempt to try and unmask the killer but does the answer lie in Angela's shady past? Another brilliant installment of the Salem Cost mystery series. I am always excited to see another one in this series released, I'm so into the characters by now and all the drama they get upto.
During her business trip to fabulous Las Vegas, Clara Kelly encounters the ghost of Angela Decatur, an actress who insists she didn't commit suicide. Instead of spending her time getting more B&B skills and learning more about the business, she now agrees to help find the murderer.
I really enjoy this series. My favorite cozies are ghost ones but they are hit and miss on the story line. This series is great from book one to book four. William is a great character. This is a fun series. Easy to read and enjoyable.
Very interesting tale in this series. Clara goes to Vegas and of course, becomes involved with the ghost that swears up and down she was murdered. I have to laugh when William uses the cell phone, I just can't help it! I think this is the best book of the series so far. I know the first couple were about setting up the whole series, etc. but this kind veers off into something a little different. Good story, lots of fun. Can't wait to see what happens next.

I thought this was another winner for the author. I have followed this series from the beginning, and I enjoyed this one as well as the previous ones. I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I felt like Clara found herself more in this book than in the previous. I was surprised when the truth came out about Alice. Of all the characters, William is my favorite, he is the epitome of a gentleman. Definitely recommend reading.
This was a really good book! The reasoning behind the murder was so well planned out. I liked getting to learn more about some of the characters we met in the last book. I enjoyed seeing William learn how to use technology. I had fun with the conference Clara attended, it was such a great change of scenery. Most of all, I loved the ending! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for our favorite red head next!

Protagonist Clara Kelly is back for another murder mystery. Set in the bustling city of Las Vegas, Nevada, Clara Kelly fights for justice for an acclaimed actress following her untimely and unexpected death. As she struggles to find her place among both the living and the dead, Clara learns more about herself and continues to define who she is in the new life she has created. It's a cute and quick read.
Another great book in this series! Clara is off with other local business owners to Las Vegas to learn more about running a business. I loved getting to have more time with Stephanie, Sissy, and Alice. Plenty of Vegas glam in this book. The ending was so good. Such a wild twist at the end. Great ending to the book. I'm so glad William had a somewhat consistent place in this book; he is such a lovely character. I love the writing of the author and it's very well edited as well.
I loved this next story in the Salem Spirits series. Clara is getting her bad and breakfast ready and hoping to have it open by October. I like that she's becoming braver at being herself. Her exciting trip to Vegas to learn more about how to run her business brings another surprise and another murder to solve. She also discovers another person who sees ghosts.
I love this series so much! Alice was such a wonderful surprise. I'm hoping her and Clara can become great friends. I'm so anxious to see William's story come to life as well. Although I don't want him to go after lol. I really love his character. These have been such great mysteries. So interesting and fun. Everything to keep you reading from cover to cover. I can't wait for the next one!
Only AMAZING! I cannot get enough of this series! Clara is such a wonderful character. She’s strong and confident and so very kind. I love the relationship she has with William. They complement each other and work so well together. The way he’s learning to use technology is mind blowing. Who knew a ghost could do all that he can? I’m already excited to read the next book!
This was the first ARC I’ve ever read and it blew my expectations. This book is cute, fun and ease to read. If you want to have a good time, go for it. Definitely gave me the will to read the first three book of the series.
I definitely would love to have a William, Boy and Ghost Cat in my life.
Thank you Dina and I can’t wait for the next one! 😉
I loved the previous book in the series. This book was not as good but still well written and with a good mystery. It took some time for the mystery part to take off and I had some trouble keeping up with all the characters. I like how the story of Clara moves forward a tiny bit with every book.
