Mayet Justice #16

Sinful Reality

Rate this book
New York was Minka’s past.

It was her home, her history, her roots, and her nightmares, all wrapped in one beautiful snow-swept city.

She’s Chief Medical Examiner now. She has her own team, commands a building brimming with intelligent techs, and her work/life balance hardly needs to exist, considering her husband is a homicide detective and in her office daily.

But before she was the woman she is today, she was a girl of just five years old.

Back then, New York was caught in the terrifying grips of a serial killer with a penchant for little girls and zero remorse for the lives he destroyed.

Minka thought that was all over, locked securely in the past.
But a new face is on the news, and an old flame continues to light up her phone in search of one-on-one attention.

Minka was sure the Body-In-The-Bag killer would be her most painful lesson this year.

But the risk of losing her husband is so much worse.

Join Minka, Archer, Fletch, Aubree, and the whole gang, for the 16th thrilling standalone instalment in the Mayet Justice series.

it just keeps getting better and better and better!!

Where to start?!?!?!!! So much heartache and drama in this installment. We go back to Minka’s roots and catch a cold, another murder, a fight (a big one), a make-up session, and another murder… Emilia is really tugging at heart strings in this one, while also making me play detective. If you love a good “who-dun-it” this is going to be right up your alley!! Highly recommend!!! 🤩❤️

Wow!

Each installment of Minka, Archer, and the rest of the gang makes me love them even more. I am so glad Minka finally got closure to the New York case that's been plaguing her for a long time. The killer came at me completely by surprise, I did not expect that at all. Can't wait for the next book as always.

Disappointed

I was not prepared to be bored. Your books have been great. This one only has one storyline. You could have included personal stories as you usually do. You left us hanging with Fletcher and Fifi. I have read other authors forensic stories with much better stories. Stick to what you are good at.

Our little Cato is growing up!

Loved seeing Cato begin to mature and play a bigger role in this one. A threat to their marriage? Learning to trust and give space and respect. And the banter is still top notch. I saw the answer before they did and was internally yelling at them to figure it out quickly! Also that last twist… didn’t see that one coming.

So this story bring back some old memories, some old friends/flames. And new hurt. I'm not sure how I feel about Aubrey telling Minka 's secret. I see how she tried to help to encourage her to spill it, but I'm not sure it was her place to tell. I understand Minka 's reasoning for keeping it hidden, but Archer loves her. And they fight and f thru the pain and work it out. But now ...what? And Cato....he made Archer realize...'she's mad, and it's her fault...but this is why YOU have to fix it.' Cato-“If you love, then you love always. Not just when you’re in a good mood. And if you can’t do that, then you didn’t deserve her in the first place.”

The way this unfolded. 🤯🤯🤯. The psychopathic mind of People. 😭🥺 The closure we didn't know we needed. 🤧🥹 Finally.

I know the author said it isn't over. But I need Cato's story. (which is supposed to be in the Underbelly Series). And I need a happy ending for Fletch & Serephina. 🥹 Because they deserve it... so when Emilia is ready...I'm here for it .. even if it takes 16 more books. 🥹🫠

5⭐️ 0.5🌶️

Emilia Finn has absolutely zero respect for my sleep because every Minka and Archer book I pick up I am physically incapable of stopping, with zero regard for sleep deprived future me. I mean how after 16 books can each one still be this all consuming?? This one had me on a wild rollercoaster of feels from beginning to end. I lost count of how many times my heart broke. The story was intense, we get up close and personal with Minka and Archer’s feels and I might still be slightly salty with Aubree.

Archer and Minka are what real relationship goals look like because these two would not think twice about committing a felony (or a well placed throat punch) to protect each other.

I don’t know what kind of magic Emilia is tapping into but I am beyond invested in Copeland and these characters and will likely need therapy if she ever stops add to this series.

What an experience! i am so eternally greatful i got to read this early and i will forever be greatful. We got to revisit cases and find solutions. We met side characters that fooled us and others that gave us the answers because they knew it was the right thing. sometimes the wrong place at the right time is the answer or visa versa. The growth of out Copeland crew is so evident and the way it was just perfectly portrayed? unbelievably amazing. Emilia will always have a place in my soul. Her books live with me continuously and i will always find home in the worlds she writes.
if i could rate this above a 5 i would because it deserves so much more.

"Penguins mate for life, and I have no interest in changing that."

Whew the latest installment of the Mayet Justice series had me at the edge of my seat! This is a full circle moment for Minka as they finally help solve the case the has shaped her childhood and career. Minka gets the closure she needs to put this to rest in her mind. Minka and Archer work through a rough patch and become even stronger from it. They are each other’s peace and safe place. I also love watching Cato grow up and mature while still being Cato. The usually shenanigans from Aubree , Fletch, Fifi and Moo. I fall more in love with this crew with every book. Can’t wait to see what’s next in Copeland City!

𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 is the 16th book in the Mayet Justice series by Emilia Finn, and this series continues to impress! The depth of these characters always blows me away… the raw emotions, the love, the loyalty. I can never get enough! When Minka’s past comes up in a gut-wrenching case, I was knocked for a loop right along with them, glued to the pages for every twist and turn. From Minka and Archer, the ultimate penguin-esque soulmates to their witty crew of friends and family of mobsters, medical examiners, and cops, I love every second spent getting to know all of them. The case in this one made me extra emotional in a way that few authors can. I am hopelessly addicted to this series, and I cannot wait for more!!

4⭐️ this installment of the Mayet series felt a little different.

We had a full circle moment with Minka and a case that has “plagued” her since she was a girl.

We have a fight between Minka and Archer that honestly made my heart hurt😩 I love these two together and I’d riot if anything happened to them😂

During this book, my fondness for Aubree also grew. She is a very loyal friend who did not back down with her worries or thoughts and I applaud her for saying something in a difficult situation— iykyk. Her integrity is something to admire.

And Cato. I love seeing him grow with each book.

Can’t wait for the next one!

I Hope This Series Goes on Forever

“Sinful Reality,” the 16th installment in Emilia Finn’s Mayet Justice series, delivers a blend of suspense, emotional depth, and intricate character development. In this novel, Chief Medical Examiner Minka Mayet confronts haunting elements from her past in New York, intertwining with her present life in Copeland City. While Minka struggles, her family holds her tight and loves her through it in beautiful and supportive ways. Detective Archer Malone is a dream, Aubrey is brilliant and our other found family is supportive in the best ways. But Cato, he is the low key hero in this book—emotionally intelligent & observant. I see you Cato!

hats off

Once again, Emilia Finn out did herself one of the first books of hers that I read was Finding Home and I was so obsessed with that series then I found this series and I have been just as obsessed. It pulls me in It’s like I’m actually living what I’m reading I cannot stress this enough Emilia I would love to see this as a TV series. I love it when the books are pretty much like life where you interact with your family and each person is pretty much in each book. so through every book, you see each person‘s life develop but God knows I love me some Minka and Archer

love Emilia, and this series is a fav. this book just ok.

I love this series and this author. However, this dragged out the story, far too much drudgery detail. I solved the crime as soon as they mentioned the character that was the responsible party.

I also really, really don’t like that they used the tired and untruthful view about homeschooling making crimes easier. It’s a fallacy and the research doesn’t support it being a higher criminal statistic.

Of this entire series (and all this authors books) this is the first one where I wasn’t a fan.

My new favorite of the series

I really enjoyed this book and it's probably my favorite of the series. It was raw and emotional. We've read about these characters and have been in their heads for 16 books now, which leaves you wholly invested. You felt everything Archer and Minka were feeling right along with them. Even though I figured it out before the characters, it was a very well thought out plot that only Emilia could give us.

Mayet Justice 16, another five star from Emilia Finn. Minka’s past comes back to haunt her and we get to see how that affects her and the relationships she’s made in Copeland. We find ourselves on the edge of our seats with suspense and on rollercoaster of emotions as we watch our favorites work through their growing pains. Emilia Finn never ceases to amaze me with her writing and the way she can weave a mystery and clues together.

Still incredible after 16 books!

I get so excited every time a Mayet Justice book drops…and so sad when I finish reading it! 😂 I don’t think I’ll ever tire of this series or the characters. I love the criminal investigation element, too (I called this one early on😉). Sometimes I want to tell my husband all about the crime and how it was solved, as if it had occurred in real life. 😅

If you haven’t started this series, what are you waiting for?!?

Wow! I loved getting to see old Minka and new Minka fight to be in control in this book. Archer working to keep her in the present was so great. I loved getting Cato to help the case as well!

The only thing I wish for is one more scene at the police station after the arrest for more of a resolution on that side. It would not have included any major characters but would have been good for the overall story. EF did a great job with this story and really pulling us all in.

Sheeeesh... I needed this book!!

If you have read the first 15 books in this series, you definitely don't want to miss this one! This one had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Of course I fell just a little more in love with every character in this series. Bravo Emilia 👏 you have me hooked. ♥️

I love this couple!

I can’t remember the last time I was this excited for a release. And I knew it would be hard to read, knowing that sad things happened, but the genius of Finn’s writing always has me eager for more! This story solves a very old crime that shaped our favorite Vigilante. The storytelling is so good. I want to live in the Mayet world forever!

The next perfect installment of the Mayet series. Emilia Finn is a literary genius. Her ability to entertain, take you on a journey and provide an alternate universe to live in is unmatched.

These characters, their intertwined lives, extended family…..it’s amazing. Cato….is my heart I fear. Give that boy some credit cause he is smarter than the average cat.

Another one

Another great book in the Sinful series. I to wanted to punch Pax. Lol. Not for the same funny reason as Minka. But just because. And the twist this story gave. I was not prepared. But I was again enthralled and man I love these people. Even more than some of my family. lol. Thanks Emilia, for another great read.

Definitely worth the read!

Wow! That's all I can say. Minka is such a badass! I am proud of Archer for letting Minka handle Pax on her own. It's great knowing that the over 20 year old murders have been solved and that those parents can finally get closure. Emilia has really hit it out of the park. I can't wait for June 6th!

Even when sickness hits and mucous is flowing, Archer and Minka belong together…like penguins and rocks. You must read the Mayet Justice series to understand ;)
I know that doesn’t sound like an enticing reason to read, but trust me, all of the books Emilia Finn has written have kept me on my toes and I just want to read more!

Minka and Archer tearing it up coast to coast!

I truly love the dynamic between Minka and Archer. They solve these cases like they have one brain. The love they share is unstoppable and the way Archer just takes care of her is beautiful! I can’t wait to see where their next case takes them.

Another solid read for this series. I was worried with the direction it was heading with Minka’s ex and her drive to solve this case because she doesn’t have a good track record of taking into account Archer when she’s so focused. While it got a little offline, they rectified it fairly quickly. It was nice to see her get some closure and of course great to see the whole gang again.

This book 🥰. It was nice to see Archer and Minka finally have that first true argument. I just wanted to lock them in their apartment and tell them to talk!! As usual this story was all over the emotions LOL. I love this series and all of the characters. It doesn't matter if it months between reads, escaping into this world is like coming home.
