I fell in love with Aiken in We Own The Stars and SCREAMED when DJ announced she was writing his story. I just really enjoy these characters and their chaotic lives. I really needed a story like this to take my mind off of reality.
He’s the goofy but protective alien mate we all want. I would definitely feel safe with him around. Margot wasn’t the best sort of friend in the first book but we got a little bit of a deeper insight into her in this story, and she did try hard at being self-aware of her issues. She just wanted Emily to have the special day she deserved. But goodness these people can’t catch a break!
Aiken had me cackling most of the book. I love his personality and the banter between him and Margot.
If you’re looking for a short but action packed alien romance with an interesting, and possibly dangerous, peen situation this is for you!
Medea, the female human lead, followed her then-boyfriend off Earth only to find that she was the side piece and that he had a fiancé. Unfortunately, they work for the same company and her boss is pushing her to attend a company function with a plus one to show her ex that she is over him.
Cal, the male dragon humanoid lead, knew Medea was his fated mate when he met her but she had a chosen mate. Determined to respect her choices, he awkwardly left her be. He didn’t approach her when her relationship dissolved either, because he was leaving her time to grieve. When his roommate asks him to take on one of his clients, Cal is shocked to find Medea has asked for an escort’s service. Now he needs to convince her that he’s offering more than friendly assistance…
This short story is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy, dragonkin/human, fated mates, sci fi office romance. I enjoyed seeing Cal and Medea work through miscommunication. I enjoyed Cal’s cute awkwardness and seeing him become more comfortable with Medea. I enjoyed Medea’s sense of self worth and that she walked away from a cheating ex. I enjoyed the joy she found in having a fated mate.
Probed by Vivienne Hart 4 stars
Twyla, the female human space courier lead, has special delivery for Khymerion, the male alien shape shifting sex working lead. Needing to keep it quiet, she buys time with him to deliver it in private but, intrigued by his offerings, she decides to accept what she’s paid for. Khymerion is in sex work for his own entertainment and he’s surprised to actually feel as part of his interaction with Twyla. But it’s just a one off…
This vignette is dual POV, well written, and an erotic sci fi interlude with a HFN ending. I enjoyed Twyla’s enjoyment of the moment. I enjoyed that Khymerion was the sex worker, and I enjoyed his surprise at how much he enjoyed their interlude. I enjoyed that they made plans for a potential future of interludes without jealousy or expectation.
Nowhere But Here by Dalia Davies 4 stars
Mary, the female human lead, has accepted a role as a bride for an alien as well as a human facilitator for other brides coming to his planet. Kade, the male alien lead, is the pilot of the ship that transported Mary and they’ve had to wait to be together. Taking off to his holiday home, they’re enjoying their time together until a malfunction leaves Mary at risk…
This short story is dual POV, well written, and a fast-paced erotic sci fi romance. I enjoyed Mary’s appetite for adventure and her determination to be an equal partner in their activities. I enjoyed Kade’s enthusiasm and his joy in having found Mary. I enjoyed the erotic scenes. I appreciated the risk resolution.
Crash landed: The Daranthiki by S.J. Sanders 4 stars
Daisy, the female human lead, is an heiress working for family interests. Desperate to get some autonomy, she’s in cryostasis, moving to another planet. Knowing she’s supposed to wake in comfort, she’s shocked to find herself in what appears to be a wrecked spaceship. Searching for answers and help, she locates Zil, the male alien mercenary lead, who is systematically stripping the ship for parts.
Zil has been alone for a long time and he plans to keep it that way but the small human he has found is tripping his triggers. When slavers appear, he grudgingly agrees to take her to safety. But the longer they’re together, the more he wants from her…
This novella is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy, stuck in space, bonded mates, sci fi romance. I was amused by Zil’s initial reticence and enjoyed seeing his emotions change towards Daisy. I enjoyed Daisy’s confidence and determination. I empathised with both characters’ loneliness and was delighted at the way they grew together.
Bare Survival: Deep Space by Kass O’Shire 3.5 stars
Abbie, the female human lead, is a participant in a naked reality show on a different planet. When her partner fails to show, she decides to participate on her own. In foreign territory, she ends up taking shelter in what appears to be a temple. Attacked by a local animal, she’s shocked to find a being helping her…
This short story is female lead POV, and a cleverly written, alien/human interlude finishing with a HFN that is the prelude to a new series from the author. I enjoyed Abbie’s adventurousness and her willingness to take risks. I was amused by the set up and enjoyed the interlude she enjoyed.
CY-D3R by Vera Valentine 3.25 stars
Ana, the female human lead, is thrilled to be the first genetically modified being allowed down on the planet from the GenShip hovering above the failed terraforming project on a planet. She’s determined to be successful and grant her grandmother’s dying wish - that her ashes would be rejoined with her former lover’s body.
Cy, Thresher, and Harv-E, the three android leads, have been conserving energy and maintaining the farm that their human User started, waiting for a new User to arrive. They’ve all been modified to be more human-like by their previous User, and Harv-E and Thresher have continued to make modifications. They’re all excited for Ana to be on planet. Now they just need to convince her to stay…
This short story is quadruple POV, well written, and a funny, joyful celebration of freedom and personal intimate enjoyment. I enjoyed the varying personalities imbued in the androids. I enjoyed Ana’s determination to have choices and to enjoy them.
Treasured Little Human by Eva Priest 3.25 stars
Veyrith, the male alien lead, is a mercenary who has just been told that payment isn’t forthcoming. He’s about to kill some beings when they offer him a human female in a cryostasis pod. He is immediately entranced and obsessed by her, determined to keep and claim her, regardless of what she wants or remembers.
This short story is dual POV, and a piece of somewhat romantic, sci fi, alien/human erotica. I enjoyed the evocative writing that clearly conveyed each characters’ voice. I enjoyed that Veyrith was determined to protect Tashka at all costs, though his starting gambits weren’t my preference.

Another amazing “Monsters in Love” anthology! “Bare Survival: Deep Space” by Kass O’Shire is such a unique concept - reality show survivor style, but on an alien planet! Abbie and Ma’el have that whole “first contact”/“fated mate” thing going on and it’s a hoot! “Probed” by Vivienne Hart features a space courier and an amorphous pleasure void lord - these two really heat up the sheets!
“Nowhere But Here” by Dalia Davies matches Mary with Sian (alien) Kade. Their honeymoon goes wonderfully, until it doesn’t. Ends a bit anti-climatically, but still enjoyable.
In “The Celestial’s Pet” by Kassandra Cross, a night time run results in transcendence and intense bliss. This one was plenty trippy, but in a good way.
“We Spite the Stars” by D.J. Russo, sequel to “We Own The Stars”, finds Margot and Aiken trying to figure out their relationship, plan a pop-star wedding, and just plain stay alive. An exciting read.
“Bonded” by Wren K. Morris is a mix of sweet confusion, a bit of revenge and a steamy mates connection. A dragonkin mate sounds like the perfect possessive mate… sigh…
“Crash Landed: The Daranthiki” by S.J. Sanders excites with pirates, warriors and treacherous love. A thrilling read.
“The Dragon & The Moon” by Emma Elizabeth is beautifully whimsical, with two deities figuring out how to be human. Truly beautiful.
“The Song of Saturn” by YD La Mar is a complete mind-trip (as is to be expected from a YD La Mar story) with no one as they seem, a slow descent into madness and obsession for both male main characters, and a horrifying ending. Definitely a non-traditional happily ever after.
“CY-D3R” by Vera Valentine has be sold on robo-lovin’! This trio have left alone a long time, anthropomorphized and evolving, so when humankind (Ana) re-initiate contain, the results are… unexpected.
“Treasured Little Human” by Eva Priest is all blurred lines and questionable consent, warm fuzzy haziness and blurring bliss. It’s a short slice of life and ends happily, leaving me pleased and curious about what’s to come.
Monsters in Love: Lost in the Stars is the seventh volume in this anthology series, and features ten novellas by various authors who in each of their stories will bring the reader through the complexities, mystery, and boundless variety of inter species togetherness. Filled with steamy, erotic adventures of the heart, I enjoyed them all but a couple of my favorites were: Probed by Vivienne Hart which follows galactic Courier Twyla to the outer rim, spaces special little corner of the galaxy for finding pleasure. She has a package for Void Lord Khymerion to deliver, who also works in one of the pleasure houses. They both form an unexpected connection when she decides to take a moment out of her busy schedule to do a little exploring of her own. I was left wondering though what was in that package!
Nowhere But Here by Dalia Davies is part of the author’s Isia Bondmate Agency series and follows Mary who is arriving on the Sian home world with other matched brides. Her Susre/soulmate just happens to be the ships pilot Kade so she doesn’t have to go far before meeting her match in person, finally! They spend a rousing good time getting to know each other until a mechanical problem with the dome they are honeymooning in experiences a life threatening issue which Kade keeps from his new mate as he tries unsuccessfully to resolve it. He will soon learn a valuable lesson in that there is more to his new mate Mary than needing to always be protected by him.
Compulsively readable and nicely written these standalone stories are sure to set the heart a flutter and passions alight with each of the tantalizing, character pairings.
The stories are each introduced with a short blurb and content warnings.

Gleeful Goblin Review: I love these kinds of anthologies because I get to read new and fun things from authors I already adore AND it's a risk free way of checking out authors I haven't heard of or that their full books are somewhere in my endless TBR pile. This anthology is jammed to the gills with authors I'm head over heels for their work already AND a couple new to me gems. Because of this anthology I've now moved a few books up the line of that TBR pile y'all, the anthology is that good and that much fun. 5/5 Stars.

This was a great anthology. I've read at least one story from the majority of these authors before, though some are new to me. Each story felt different than the others and I loved that the alien males all varied. I also liked that each of the stories isn't too short, so altogether you have a nice chunky anthology.
This was another great entry in the anthology series, it had that element that I was wanting in this theme. Each author had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed the overall feel of this book. I was invested in what was happening in this type of collection and was glad it was so well done.

As with any anthology, every story wasn’t to my taste so I only read four. I think my favorite was Bare Survival by Kass O’Shire because I enjoy a reality show setting. It was an excerpt and I am looking forward to the full book being released.
Featuring cosmic tales of interstellar romance by: Evangeline Priest SJ Sanders Kassandra Cross Vivienne Hart Wren K Morris YD La Mar D.J. Russo Dalia Davies Kass O'Shire Vera Valentine
11 authors with charming, dark, steamy or disturbing stories of monster romances in space. Some I loved, some I didn't read (yet), some I didn't like. Anyways, recommended.
So many different stories containing a different monster, robot or alien in them. They make you want to read everything in one sitting. They are truly that good. Happy reading!
The seventh collection in the Monsters in Love another great set of stories. The eleven stories are written by Kass O'Shire, Vivienne Hart, Dalia Davies, Kassandra Cross, D.J. Russo, Wren K Morris, SJ Sanders, Emma Elizabeth, YD La Mar, Vera Valentine and Evangeline Priest. I found the stories to all be well worth reading and I will read again. This Book 7 in The Monsters In Love Book Series has an intriguing romance stories, well-crafted worlds and interesting characters. These characters have unique personalities, detailed histories and believable interactions. These stories has action, adventure, twists, turns, chemistry, and love. This is a must read book.
As almost every anthology, this one included, it consist of various stories with different tropes. Some stories are well executed, some not that much. Some I have very interesting and some didn't keep my attention well. From all 11 I have picked up 5 which I liked the most.
1. "Bare Survival" by Kass O'Shire It has all fascinating mini details and you can thrill of discovering a new planet.🤩 Bonus: plus sized FMC
2. "We spike the stars" by DJ Russo. Loved the world building. Needs to be said the MMC has 4 (!!!!!)p@nns 🫣 That was wild!!!
3. "Crash Landed" by S.J. Sanders I liked the elements of sci-fi thrillers, the boldness of FMC and all gore.
4. "Cy-DBR" by Vera Valentine. Mutliple male POVs, which I truly enjoyed. Loved the "coloniser" setting.
5. "Tresured little human" by Eva Priest It is quite dark, super spicy and maybe rushed a little BUT the settings laid for whole universe were amazing. Mind you, it is not something complicated, but sometimes keeping things simple and seasoned with right emotional load does the trick!.

This is a really fun 'space' anthology that's got stories from different authors. I love that each story is different, with fab world building and lots of spice. Expect to get swept away with the drama, danger, multiple POVs, depending on the story, and to feel all the heat. Like all the heat ;P I really enjoyed Kass O'Shire's Bare Survival and Eva Priest's Treasured Little Human. The other stories are just as engaging and I'm thrilled to be able to get these intro's to new series or just a fine sampling of new-to-me authors. Loved it!
