He was the darkness to my light, a twisted forbidden fruit.
Stalker. Sinner. Dominator. He created reality from dark and sensual nightmares. Yet I craved them. And I hungered for him.
Xander Blackwell was all things dangerous and possessive, requiring me to surrender. Demanding I submit to every brutal command. While the passion was savagely intense, his discipline without remorse, his touch and uncontrollable sadistic desire peeled away every layer, exposing the wanton and subversive woman within.
We were perfect for each other, a match made in...
The game was real.
There was no question, no choice. Now, I belonged to him.
Publisher's Sinner is the first in the Legacy of Kings Series but can be read as a standalone. It includes spankings and rough, intense sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.
Let’s be clear: this is not your average dark romance with a sprinkle of smut and a predictable bad boy. Sinner is a full-on psychological seduction wrapped in a thriller, and I devoured every twisty, dangerous page of it.
Jessica? She’s not your delicate little submissive waiting to be claimed. She’s clever, calculating, and just dark enough to play in Xander’s world—and maybe outmaneuver him in it. I loved watching her tease, challenge, and surprise the man who thought he had the upper hand. Spoiler: he didn’t. Not always.
The tension? Razor sharp. The slow burn? Painfully delicious. And while it takes its time to unleash the heat, when it finally does? It’s worth every moment. Piper Stone doesn’t just write sex—she crafts scenes that hit with precision and purpose. You’ll be grateful for the build-up.
Plot-wise, this is where dark romance crosses into suspense. Secret societies. Family trauma. Identity games. And just when you think you’ve cracked it—boom—another reveal. I didn’t see half of it coming, and that made it all the better.
If I have one complaint? I wanted more of Jessica and Xander once the dust settled. More of their wild chemistry. More of their dark, twisted, perfect-for-each-other energy. But that’s probably just me grieving the ending and not wanting to let them go.
Final verdict? This is for readers who love their dark romance with plot, tension, intelligence, and a heroine who bites back. Not just a favorite—it’s one I’ll be recommending to every morally gray addict I know. Now off to devour the next books in the series…
After reading this book, I am excited about this new series by this talented author. This story screamed with secrets, revenge, mind games, danger, and erotic desires with an explosion of fear and passion. It was raw, gritty, and emotionally intense, with delicious punishment scenes. I liked that you didn't have to wait long before the action started, and I could not put this book down. This story is unique as both main characters lean towards the dark side with their sexual fantasies that are sinfully twisted.
I liked the thrill of the chase and the game of cat and mouse between Jessica and Xander. Talk about fireworks. They worked in a virtual gaming world that flowed into their daily lives and became more than just a game. Xander was the hunter, and Jessica was the prey. Not that she tried very hard to get away from him.
Xander was a brutal, unapologetic anti-hero. He was dark and menacing in the best possible way and was unafraid to get his hands dirty. Xander is a damaged soul, and the glimpses of his childhood give a good insight into why he is so brutal and protective of Jessica. He was a dark knight and only eliminated those who were evil and deserved it. I thought he was on the psychotic side at times.
Jessica had her demons and was determined to have revenge against Xander, but her intense, overwhelming, depraved feelings matched Xander’s perfectly and were a revelation. She was no better than he was and was hooked on the adrenaline rush from the kinky games they played, although she did not have the same agenda of getting rid of evil as Xander did. Jessica was a strong character who was no shrinking violet. She took the fight up to Xander and was determined to uncover the truth about her sister. I admired her courage and resilience in recognizing that she craved Xander and needed him.
This book was a romantic thriller with a bucket full of taboo and a heavy dose of dark and dirty. I had the chills many times reading this book, especially towards the end. It completely blew my mind and surpassed all of my expectations.
Look, this book had so much potential and so many things that were 100% up my alley. CNC/dubious consent? Yes please. Morally gray billionaire MMC? Absolutely. Smart FMC making a name for herself in a male dominated field? Of fucking course. Touch her and 💀? Say less.
But the execution was mediocre at best. The dialogue was often awkward and clunky. The pacing of the book was not great. It seemed like everything took forever while the actual climax took ten seconds.
The spice was also ‘meh.’ It should have been off the charts but I was incredibly underwhelmed about it.
And then there were so many things I DID want to know about that were left unanswered. So much about her sister, her father’s past, the obsidian society. Not to mention we get all this build up about “the game” and then zero pay out.
Characters were also constantly changing their personalities on a dime. Jessica spends half the book looking to take down Xander and then basically drops it because he’s hot and she believes him over her father (though for no discernible reason I could see.) Xander spends a huge chunk of the book saying how emotions aren’t a thing he experiences only to be like “OMG AM I IN LOVE?!?!”
I had such high hopes for this book and I’m just sad they didn’t pan out.
Another great story by Piper,I don't know where she fines,or thinks up there's story's but I hope it's a bottomless pit because I have enjoyed everyone so far and Sinner is no exception! It's very dark almost sic but it let's you keep on reading because you want to fine out all the details. Jessica has a plan to bring down the Blackwell Brothers for the death of her sister but before she does, she has to play a game ,A very dark game with one of the brothers Xander/Sinner,you may loss or you may win and Jess/Sofia keeps on playing to win a new job with the company, but before she even starts there is death, lies, deception but it just brings Xander and Jessica closer.Xander may of had a dark, painful child hood and his darkness is always quick to come out but around his little lamb he keeps it in check only brings it out when someone is going to harm his lamb or his business!
Okay, deep breath—because Sinner by Piper Stone absolutely destroyed me… in the best way. I went into this knowing it would be dark and intense, but I wasn’t fully prepared for how deeply I’d fall into the world of Xander Blackwell. This wasn’t just a story—it was an unraveling, a surrender, and an awakening all at once.
From the first moment, I could feel the pull between light and darkness—the way Xander embodied danger, control, and raw, unrelenting need. He didn’t just take over the page, he dominated me as the reader, dragging me into his brutal, sinful world and daring me to want more. And I did. Oh, I did.
What really got me, though, was how the story peeled back layers—not just of the characters, but of myself as I read. I felt the heroine’s journey like it was my own: from fear and resistance to craving and submission. It wasn’t about losing control; it was about choosing to give it, to let someone else see all the messy, wanton parts and still want them—no, claim them.
Piper Stone didn’t hold back. The scenes are rough, explicit, and unapologetically intense, but beneath the dominance and discipline is a twisted, broken kind of love that somehow feels real. Xander was terrifying—and yet, I never once doubted that his obsession with her was absolute.
Sinner isn’t just a book—it’s an experience. And for me? One I’ll be thinking about long after the last page.
Holey Moley!!! 'Sinner', the first book in Piper Stone's "Legacy of Kings" Series, is probably one of the darkest, most intense books I've read in quite some time, and it was exhilarating. The characters were bold, intense, and had relatable personality traits (I'm not sure what that says about me), and the world-building was brought to life. This was a fantastic read, and I can't wait to find out which brother's story is next.
Sinner is the first book in the Legacy of Kings series but can be read as a standalone. It includes spankings and rough, intense sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book. A filthy, sinful, erotic, twisted and dark read. It's fast paced, thrilling and tantalizing. A definite page turner with enticing erotic scenes that will have you sweating like a sinner on Sunday. An unputdownable and absorbing addictive read. OMG! Hot Hot Hot!!! Piper Stone, I thought I was going to have to sit in an ice bath to cook off. It was so HOT!!! Pitch Black darkness, smut and filthy and just the way that I like it. Wow, just wow! From the start to the thrilling finish their story grabbed hold and didn't let go for a moment. A romantic and sizzling hot read. This novel is quite emotive and the way these two broken souls come together is exquisitely portrayed.

Xander Blackwell had a great company. They created first class virtual games that everyone was vying for. His team: Elizabeth, Wilder, Christopher, and Zach all knew what it took to get things off the ground and working. But there was something darker going on within the small group. The Obsidian Society is a darker group. Jessica has created some games and even works for a company that develops them. But she is interested in working for Blackwell. Someone has caused her family great loss. She will have her revenge.
You feel like you are in the game most times. I wasn’t sure if Jess was dreaming, gaming, or if things were real. We learn who Xander and his brothers are. These boys have a dark past. I wasn’t sure if they were psychopaths or just acting. I guess their past brought about the impulse. Things seem to be going well with Jessica and Xander but there was someone causing issues, a mole in Blackwell. These two were light and dark. The passion was hot and at times crazy. I honestly didn’t think it was that person. I was more along the lines with Xander’s thought. And kudos to Jess for saving the day. She isn’t just a pretty face. She is a fighter. She may have stumbled but she wasn’t about to let someone crush her. The chase is on. I wonder who will be next to run. I am looking forward to reading Zachariah’s story next.

Sinner: A Dark Billionaire Romance, (Legacy of Kings #1)
Written by: Piper Stone Narrated by: Skyler Morgan
“Sinner” started out slow and a bit confusing. It may have been that way just for me, but nevertheless, I continued on, hoping it would get better.
Ms. Stone may not have attended to her readers to feel as I did, but eventually I had some moments of clarity for me, and I was able to enjoy parts of it.
I can’t say I would recommend “Sinner” to anyone without telling them what my initial feelings were in the beginning of the book. Although I had come to like it as I continued to listen further, I believe in giving my honest thoughts.
The narrator, Skyler Morgan, did a “Top Rank” with his storytelling of the book, and I’ve always enjoyed his reading. He has a very strong voice for narrating, no matter if it’s a male or female character.
There are other audiobooks that I’ve listened to written by Piper Stone that I’ve loved from beginning to end. I just wasn’t the biggest fan of this one.
I would give 3-⭐️⭐️⭐️s for the book and a 5-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️s for narration.
This story was a surprise and not quite what I was expecting. It’s started out darker than I liked but the more I read, the more I was drawn into the story and the more I came to like/love Sinner. Jessica was drawn to him and eventually Xander made his presence known to her. There are surprises throughout the story and the drama was intense. His two brothers were present in the story and I would like to have known more about them but I expect their individual stories are coming. Because they were separated while in foster care and the treatment they endured, I think that accounted for some of their actions. The interaction between Jessica and Xander went from 🔥to🔥🔥🔥 in seconds. There were secondary characters who added to the story. It’s a great read but may contain triggers that some might not like. The ending was unique but not unexpected and overall I loved the story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and are voluntarily leaving a review.
First book in Legacy of Kings, riveting read and you love the characters I guarantee it This was a simply wonderful start to this series and I guarantee that like me you will find that once you begin reading the book you will not put it down until reaching the final page. Xander Blackwell has quite the reputation and with him it is fair to say that he is quite a dangerous and dominant character, it is amazing that the relationship they have shows that since he has taken her the control, he is exerting over her is sadistic, discipline filled and the woman is having to adhere to his demands. I guarantee that you will thoroughly enjoy this the first book in the Legacy of Kings series and I guarantee that like me you will not be able to wait for the next book in this series.

What a very interesting, entertaining and enticing story. From the beginning Xander and Jessica romance is filled with intrigue, suspense and sensual encounters. I really enjoyed these characters. Xander has had a traumatic and painful past but with his brothers he has developed a very strong and powerful partnership. As for Jessica she wants so enter the Blackwell Group to avenge her sister’s death. When truths come to light Xander and Jessica realize that their relationship is much more than they thought it would be. Their chemistry is undeniable and so HOT. Escaping into this story was satisfying and deliciously delightful. A remarkably fascinating and gripping story.
Overall this book was decent. I’m not sure that it fits my idea of romance, but more along the lines of lust.
This book is the story of Jessica Waldrop & Xander Blackwell. Xander is a self proclaimed devil who exists in the shadows and protects what’s his. Jessica is dead set on taking down the Blackwell brothers and their gaming company because she feels Xander was responsible for her sister’s death. Xander stalks Jessica and sneaks in her home a few times. He also murders a man for attempting to harm her. He finally claims her as his possession and she willingly agrees. There are no “I love you’s” as Xander doesn’t feel he’s capable of such an emotion. The book just kind of ended. The spice was spicy but the actual story was a little repetitive.
The stalker story line held promise, but I felt lost throughout the majority of the story and unclear what was real and what was in the game. Xander was close to psychotic with his obsessions. His company created games and within that a secret society. Jessica, who is under consideration for a job opening is his current obsession. I couldn't tell if it was the gaming part or Jessica being wishy washy that caused difficulty with the story line. Even at the end, I kept waiting for her to change her mind. I normally love the books by this author, but this unfortunately felt off. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Wow this new series Legacy of King's by Piper Stone has done it again, t his is not her usual way of writing but one I had to read. Xander Blackwell, is a ruthless dominant billionaire that likes to play on the wild side. When Jessica met the ruthless man he broke into her apartment and took her hard then the next time he took her it was hot sweating and the chemistry was off the charts Oh and a little bit of spanking just to make you perspire.

Dark romance is one of my favorite tropes, and this book did NOT disappoint. The author has written well developed main and side characters and the prose is descriptive without being too much. I liked the thrill of the chase and the game of cat and mouse between Jessica and Xander. The plot is good, somewhat predictable, yet enjoyable. There is spice simmering throughout. Overall, this was a great book. I loved this book and would definitely recommend it. I look forward to finding out what the next book holds.
This seems to be a deviation from the "usual" story I get from Piper Stone, but I found that I actually became invested very quickly. Sinner has his reasons for the way his life has progressed, but he definitely has a clear idea of what he views as right and what he does with the men he feels are doing wrong. A wonderful take-away from this first book in the Legacy of Kings series is that there are several other Blackwell brothers so I can't wait to see the next story in this series.

What a twisted tale! There are so many twists and turns at the beginning, that I almost wasn't sure of what was going on. I'm glad I stuck it out, it was worth it, because everything became clear. Then it became clear that there were other nuances to the story that added to the danger and the intrigue of the storyline, as if this story needed it. I loved the characters as well as the world building. It's a fast paced exciting and entertaining story.

I loved the idea behind this book with the game and real life. Xander was not what I was expecting passionate and caring but had the dark side. Jessica was strong and independent but was curious. Together they were explosive and filled their wildest darkest desires. The mystery and sabotage kept you guessing and was surprising. A great stalker dark romance that pushed the boundaries.

Wow, this is one dark book. Two people with a past connection and both with deep, dark desires. Set in the gaming world we are introduced to the Blackwell brothers, separated at an early age and all put into the foster care system, and all coming out of it with dark demons. Jessica is determined to exact revenge on Xander for her sister and is stalked by Sinner, a fellow gamer. As Jessica fights for a place at the Blackwell Group she finds herself caught up in a world of deceit, betrayal, secrets and lies and who will be her protector throughout it all? This book is one of the darkest I have read by Piper and I couldn't put it down. Jam-packed with heat and steam and full of drama and action, this is certainly a book that doesn't disappoint. I look forward to reading the next in the series.
This is a dark, erotic tale with plenty of kink complete with twists and turns to the plot to keep you reading. Both of the main characters have had trauma, in their lives that shaped them into something the world would not consider normal. Set in the world of video game development, this is an enemies to lovers story that many may find triggering. It's the first of a series and I want to read more!.

3 Stars: Enjoyed the book, and the storyline. May or may not continue the series.
🌶️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️- Frequent spicy and detailed scenes throughout. Deliciously naughty. Steamy. Obsessive. Kisses that can be felt for days. Toys, 🍑 play, D/s, 3D’s dark, delicious, and dirty.
There is something about gaming that even when my favourite authors write about it it leaves me cold. Fortunately for me, this book goes way beyond gaming and has mystery and intrigue to capture the reader and is steamy as well. It is not easy to read sometimes, but the ending more than makes up for it and now I can’t wait to read about the other two brothers.
Legacy Of Kings book 1 is Xander and Jessica's story. It's definitely an intriguing journey with strong characters and an intense, consuming storyline. They're perfect for each other in every way. They each have a darkness within that the other satisfies completely. Sinner will bring you straight into the depths of darkness with it's characters and keep you hostage until the very end!
Wow, exciting twists from beginning to end… Jessica, a game designer is caught up in the dog eat dog video game industry The lines between virtual reality and reality become blurry with Xander and his brothers’ company right in the middle… I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
The boundary between gaming and reality blended seamlessly for Jessica and Xander in their twisted story. It was thrilling as well captivating. Stalking with a little bit of predatory behavior never hurts in this type of fantasy read.

I’m glad that I stuck with the book though. It definitely improved as it moved along. The steam is intense and the story is a bit complex. I’m hoping that the unanswered questions will be resolved in the next books. Given the content, I find the use of the word ‘bottom’ to describe that part of a woman’s body instead of a more adult synonym rather confusing.
