Just happened to be scrolling through instagram at, oh, 2 am in the morning, and saw Jason's new novella is out, and it was free! So like a fiend hungry for her daily dose of devil worship, I went to Amazon and downloaded that shit...and read it....cos i needed to get up at 4 am to get ready for the hour long trek to work, might as well get up, and do something productive...
One thing’s for sure, folks—never, ever approach an old man playing sick because it might just be the last mistake you make.
Set three days before Halloween, the story follows Suzanna, who’s invited to her best friend’s hen night. She thinks nothing could be worse than a dull celebration—but she’s dead wrong. Soon, she learns the true meaning of terror when she comes face-to-face with the devil of Gravel Lane.
Boy, oh boy, Jase has done it again! I’ve been eagerly awaiting Even the Devil Weeps, and now that it’s finally here, I can confidently say—it’s a doozy! (But really, were we expecting anything less?)
At this point, nothing Jason writes surprises me anymore—except for the fact that his writing somehow keeps getting better. That’s the mark of a truly talented writer.
At just 28 pages, I devoured this novella even before I had a chance to wake up, wash my face and get ready for work, but let me tell you, it had everything we’ve come to love from Jason’s work.
Fast-paced, unsettling, and downright hilarious, all wrapped in Jason’s signature punch. That plot twist? FKN BRUTAL! Once again, proving he’s got the horror genre LOCKED AND LOADED!
Probably one of Jason's best work, and the best is yet to come!
➡️ ɢʀᴀʙ ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ: ° love horror stories that feel like urban legends told around a fire—sharp, strange, unforgettable ° want a fast-paced, high-stakes, high-suspense novella ° are here for strong final girls and twisted villains ° want your Halloween reads dark, raw, and nightmare-fueled
➡️ ɪᴛ'ꜱ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ: Suzanna Jane has never liked Halloween—and when you hear what happened to her, you’ll understand why. This quick and chilling novella takes us back to one horrifying night on Gravel Lane, where a rotting man with a taste for flesh—and something even worse in his basement—forever changes her life. Think brutal abduction, desperate survival, and that creeping, sick-to-your-stomach dread Jason A. Jones writes so well. And yet, it’s not just darkness—there’s heart, grit, and a heroine who gives major Scooby Gang energy.
➡️ ʙᴜᴛ ᴀʟꜱᴏ: For such a short book, this packs a serious punch. Jones doesn’t waste a word. Every paragraph builds tension, every scene escalates. It’s dark, yes—but the ending? So satisfying. It’s rare to find horror that feels this personal and this terrifying. I’ve read several of Jason’s books now, and not once has he missed. He’s absolutely an auto-buy for me, and this read just confirmed it.
A dark and disturbing tale with a gruesome, but oh so satisfying ending. 🔥💪🏻 Another banger by the short story master himself, Jason A Jones. It never disappoints and it will always satisfy your darkest side. 🖤 In only 28 pages you will go through a whole spectrum of emotions. Grab it and devour it! 🤩
Jason came through with a whole surprise of what the heck in this basement. Love the gorey details throughout the story! Perfect for a quick read that’s the equivalent of a nightmare on acid.
Our main character gets kidnapped and what waits in the basement is far more unearthly than Suzy ever could dream of.
This was my first time reading Jones and I'm left wanting more.
Even the Devil Weeps is a tiny morsel, yet it left me satiated. It was tight, well executed, and took me on a journey in a small bit of time.
The descriptions are vivid, providing a fantastic yet horrifying visceral experience and immersing the reader completely into the story.
We follow Suzanna on a very normal day that takes a turn and has her in the clutches of a devil. The events escalate in a heartbeat and the world turns hellish.
What aspires is beyond the most horrific corners in the darkest imagination.
Shocking. Entertaining. An appetizer for what I'm sure must be a delicious repertoire.
Short and (not so) sweet we have a little tale of kidnap and true awful-ness that Jones excels at writing. Although he is a writer who’s really great at delivering the truly grotesque and disgusting elements of horror, I really appreciate the world building around what Jason does with his work. What is often a simple affair as far as the tale goes, gets filled out with genuinely realistic characters and their lives before we delve into the ‘meat’ of things. He really makes the characters feel lived in before things delve, and that endears you more to the protagonists.
Each and every time, Jason manages to deliver horror that goes beyond the slasher and yet feels so rooted in true horror fiction. His way with words is just fantastic and while that lends itself to gore, I could also happily read about his characters going about their daily lives.
I’m sure I’ve said this many times, but as indie horror goes, Jason is a master at his craft and he’s not someone you should be sleeping on!
Dark, gory, disturbing - and I absolutely loved it! If you’re not too squeamish, this 28-pager is 100% worth the read. Jason A. Jones never fails to entertain!
Short, Gross and to the gore fast! This is my first read from this Author and I will definitely be checking out everything else. I will never say "nothing can make me hate Halloween" again.
