Born and raised in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, I've spent most of my life writing. I am, at heart, a storyteller. As early as I can remember I have loved stories and loved telling them in my own inimitable way.

A Harley Austin book often defies the typical categories. A cross-genre author, you can find me writing stories that include classic romance, mystery, suspense, fantasy, and science fiction--and always with a heavy dose of the unexpected.

I am also an insufferable romantic and relationship junkie. A Harley Austin story will often include a steamy romance, often more than one, between a hero and heroine, or even between two heroes or two heroines. I will keep you guessing.

Story descriptions are important to me, and often the most difficult to write. It is always a balancing act to deliver a hard-hitting description of the book without giving too much of the story away. As such, a Harley Austin book description will often be a little shy on the details.

Harley Austin novels are also just that--novels. When you pickup one of my books you will get 300 to 400 or more pages of riveting story.

I don't do cliffhangers.

I also don't drag you into an book or milieu just so I can kill off beloved characters at the end. A book is much more than just entertainment. It is a time where you and I connect, and you graciously give me the power to lead you to a place of wonder. A story is something that is immersive, personal, where one feels like they know the people in the story deeply and intimately.

A Harley Austin romance is one can be loved and enjoyed by anyone, whether they are male or female. The fact is, I receive just as much rave response from men reading my stories as I do women. Again, the Harley Austin novel often defies categories and crosses numerous genres to weave a story that attracts readers from all walks of life.

Awakened was a fast-moving, intriguing novel.

This book follows Lisa, a swim suit model, when she gets lost in the woods. She meets a hot guy in witness protection, and her life then changes forever.

This novel is well written, and I love the character development, plot and romance involved in it - but I had one major problem. The novel starts out as an everyday sort of romance and thriller, and then suddenly halfway through the novel switches into a supernatural/fantasy and kind of ditches the tone it was written for the first half. I would have preferred for the supernatural and fantasy tones to be introduced earlier, or for the synopsis to suggest it was fantasy because I was not prepared. I can almost say it ruined the whole story just randomly throwing out the fantasy in there. The book was doing fine without the fantasy until it changed.

Overall, I liked the book, but I'm not totally impressed with it. Well written, great ideas, but the change made me really despise the fact that I kept reading it. It was like I was sold a great romance/thriller, but then got half a fantasy with it.

I'll give it four out of five stars because of the great writing, but the plot change almost gives it a 1 out of five.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

So I'm sure on this book. After reading the prologue I was super excited and couldn't wait for the book. But then we are thrown into a story of a lost girl named Lisa who somehow finds this major secret hideout. Of course in this hideout is a super sexy and ripped guy named Kent. After being stuck in this house for maybe a week they move quickly to having sex! Although not terrible in the writing just really quick for someone you just met. Story progressed pretty well from here, but then in a flash it ended. A big fight that came out of nowhere and with two new Awakened who barely know there powers, but somehow win. This was free as well as the second book when signing up to the authors website, so I'll read both but I'm not sure if I'll continue the series after that. We shall see.
