Easton Walker is the bane of my existence. A thorn in my side. And… my new fake husband.

As the hottest hockey player in the league, he has everyone eating out of the palm of his hand. Everyone except for me. I’m not falling for his crooked grin, chiseled jaw, or broad shoulders. I made that mistake once, before I knew who he was, and I still felt the sting of his rejection.

Now I’m stuck working with him. He does everything in his power to get under my skin, but no matter how much he vexes me, I can’t deny the electric attraction that sparks between us.

When my mom gets sick, he’s the last person I expect to come to my aid. I need a husband so I can access my trust fund to pay for her treatments. He needs to makeover his image to convince everyone he’s changed his playboy ways. So, he proposes a marriage of convenience.

In public, I’ll be his doting wife, and he’ll be my devoted husband, but behind closed doors our relationship will remain strictly platonic.

That is, until he catches me in a… compromising position. And all his tightly held control begins to unravel.

Letting Easton into my bed is probably a mistake, but letting him into my heart could be catastrophic.

Tangled Vows is the third book in the Willow Brook Falls series, but is a complete standalone with no cliffhanger and a guaranteed HEA

Hero is a manwhore and was going to sleep with ow (after meeting the heroine) until he saw heroine. H said "I was going to sleep with her but after I saw you I couldn't" so he 100% would have if she wouldn't have been at the bar

Wow! This was the perfect book with just enough emotion, banter and love. This was my first Ashley Cade book, and I am so sad it has taken me so long to read her work. I am rushing around now looking up all her other books. I had so much to do this weekend so I thought I would read a couple chapters to get this book started and then start my weekend. I was so wrong. I could not put this book down and ended up reading the entire book in one day. The author did a fantastic job creating the world. I did not read books 1 or 2 and I was able to follow the town and side characters with no issues. I absolutely fell in love with Easton and Shayla. I enjoyed how proud Shayla was of who she was with all curves, but she still touched based on her insecurities from time to time. She showed her strength repeatedly. Easton was trying to clean up his image but his love for his family showed at the core he was a great guy with morals. When Easton met the right woman, he began to realize who he was. I enjoyed his devotion and patience with Shalya. Then you add in all the side characters with family and friends it rounded this book out nicely. This was the perfect blend of emotions with a strong background of family closeness. It had the perfect amount of love and drama that I could read all over again. I cannot recommend this book enough if you are looking for a sweet well written romance.

I don't know, I couldn't quite get over the fact that he slept with his coach's wife. I don't care if he thought they were separated or that they had been drinking. That's just not something I can get on board with. It kinda ruined his character for me.

Shayla was an absolutely formidable FMC, so strong mentally and emotionally to have gone through what she had and still had all the courage to be confident in herself. Of course there was a wobble or two here and there, but wow, she’s a strong one. Easton is the reformed playboy MMC, he falls first and falls hard. One of my favorite tropes is marriage of convenience, and Ashley has written a fantastic one here, love a good sports romance! Easton and Shayla have great sparring throughout the book, so much spice, it gave me butterflies!

I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own

Who doesn’t love a nice, slow burn, golden retriever ( but he can bite) hockey-romance? 😍😍😍😍
Easton and Shayla, good souls with big hearts. They’re as scared as they come, for love, but still get hopelessly in love with each other? They are the couple with the the «hopefully» HEA you want for your self in life💜
I well written and easy story to read, took me only two days.

Easton Walker gets caught up in a scandal between his coach's wife and himself. She tells him that the papers are signed and that they are just waiting for the judge's signature. By the way he was greeted by his coach when the pictures broke that what she said was the farthest from the truth. And the next thing he knew he was being traded to Virginia. The night before he is supposed to report to the arena he meets a beautiful woman he asked back to his hotel room. The minute they get into the room he’s got her up against the wall, and he barely has Shayla March top off.

When his phone starts ringing. He ignores it the first time, but when it starts to ring again. He says, How he is so sorry, but he has to take the call. His gaze slid briefly over her body, and his jaw tightened as a pained look flashed across his face. He quickly glanced away as though he couldn’t bear the sight of her. Thrusting out his hand, he handed over her shirt, refusing to look at her again. Her stomach sank, and she swallowed hard. She didn’t have a perfect, flawless body. There were stretch marks marring her stomach and hips, and her belly wasn’t flat, something her flowy top had camouflaged—a little too well.

But Shayla was relaxed in her skin. At least she had been before tonight. Hurt and regret settled heavy in her chest, and she fought hard not to cry. Taking the wadded-up bundle of fabric from his hand, she waited for him to speak. When he did, it felt like a punch to the gut. “You need to leave.” Her chin wobbled as long-buried insecurities bubbled to the surface. She hurriedly threw her shirt over her head and yanked open the door as tears welled in her eyes. She didn’t even know this guy, yet his rejection stung like none had before.

She called for the elevator and when it arrived she rushed inside, frantically pressing the button for the lobby. The doors finally slid closed just as the first tear slid down her cheek. She collapsed against the wall, burying her head in her hands. Shayla hated that she'd let someone else make her feel inferior. As if they had not just been in the throes of making out. But now, he made her feel like her ex. Like she should be ashamed of her body. She’d seen that look of disgust from her ex many times. Hastily she had gotten dressed and flown out of his room.

The joke was on him because the next morning as he ambled in twenty minutes late for his nutrition class. The nutritionist took no double-talking from him because it was Shayla herself. She wasn’t happy he had to wonder if it was him being so late or what had happened the other night. What she had to say next had his ire up, he would have to try the recipes in the new nutrition binder like the rookies. But he wasn’t a dang rookie. Welcome to their second meet-cute. See how a one-man made such a mess out of their first meet-cute by pushing every insecurity button Shayla could have.

She should know you cannot believe everything you see in the rags, the paparazzi see a salacious story around every corner. Even if they have to create it themselves, or their minions send it to them. Even if it's something innocent, but at the right angle, right lighting, and right timing it can all be damning. He had already touched on her body image on day one. The next weekend as she was going into the bar with her friends again he was leaving with her high school nemesis tall, thin, and blonde. Everything she is not. How much more can he do?

A Slow-Burn Hockey Romance That Scores (Eventually)

Dedication: To all the curvy girls out there, the plus size queens, and anyone who’s ever been told they’re “big boned” or they’d be so much prettier if they just lost a few pounds… this one’s for you. You’re beautiful just the way you are.

This book had all the makings of a sports romance—chemistry, tension, witty banter, and just the right amount of emotional depth. The emotional weight of this story is beautifully done. Sensitive topics like past trauma, self-worth struggles, and caregiving for a sick parent are handled with care, adding real depth to Shayla’s journey. She’s a powerhouse—strong, selfless, and undeniably admirable. And Easton? Well, once he commits, he’s all in, proving himself to be the kind of book boyfriend that earns a permanent spot in your heart.

This book takes its time, letting the tension simmer as Easton and Shayla navigate their new dynamic. The chemistry is undeniable. The banter is sharp and flirty. But the slow burn? Glacial. They don’t fully get together until the last third of the book, and while that made the buildup all the sweeter, I found myself craving more moments of them as a solid couple. And when the third-act drama hit, I couldn’t help but feel it wasn’t entirely necessary given everything they had already overcome. So, while the pacing kept me from giving this a full four stars, I did love the heartfelt romance, the sizzling tension, and the perfectly executed marriage-of-convenience trope. But while it delivered on heart and heat, the very slow burn kept me waiting (and waiting) for Easton and Shayla to finally admit what we all knew from the start: they were meant to be.

If you love a slow, slow burn with plenty of swoon and a side of hockey, this one’s worth the read. Just be prepared to wait for the goal.

Swoony Line:

“You’re all I’ve wanted, all I’ve been able to think about since the night we met.”

“I love you so much I can’t breathe sometimes because you’ve taken up all the space inside my chest.”

“I will choose you every time, over and over until the day I take my last breath.”

I received an ARC copy and wanted to leave an honest review.

Shayla and Easton's story was my favorite in the series, and I enjoyed it from the beginning. Shayla's narrative was captivating in the earlier books, so I was eager to dive into her story and see how she finally achieved her happy ending. From the start, Shayla and Easton's undeniable chemistry was apparent, which made reading their interactions and watching how their relationship evolved throughout the book truly enjoyable.

Easton was a hockey player traded to another team due to an affair with his coach's wife. This forced him to lay low and focus on his job. He met Shayla at a bar, and they connected from the start. They went to his hotel, but after receiving a call from his sister, who was also his publicist, he let Shayla go. They didn't see each other again until a few days later when he realized she was the new dietician for his hockey team.

Shayla had some insecurities about her body, and after her failed night with Easton, she thought he didn't like her because of her body. Because of this, she and Easton bickered at work, but things changed after she broke down and told Easton that her mother was sick and that she couldn't access her inheritance unless she got married. Easton needed to improve his image, so he asked Shayla to marry him so they could benefit from it.

They had a quick wedding in Vegas and started living together, so everyone believed their story. Things were tense between them at first, but Easton always tried to make Shayla feel comfortable and help her and her family. Eventually, their relationship started to develop, and after they opened up about their feelings, Shayla finally knew how Easton felt about her. They shared many steamy scenes, and I loved reading how well they complemented each other.

Easton and Shayla had some ups and downs, but it was nice to read how everything came to the surface and how Shayla realized that Easton had always told her the truth about the gossip about him. I loved how they worked things out and had the wedding they always deserved, surrounded by their family and people who loved them.

Shayla March and Easton Walker are new to the Richmond Wraiths - Shayla as the teams dietician and Easton as the teams new forward. They meet at a bar prior to them knowing they would be working for the same NHL organization. But their night was cut short due to some misunderstandings. Imagine their shock when they meet at work.

Shayla is a strong FMC, I adored her. She’s been through a lot but still remains strong. She’s loyal, loves something fierce and puts her family first. Will do anything for her mother and sister. She struggles with her body image, thanks to a shitty ex and an equal shitty father, but she’s learning to love her body.

Easton I loved from the beginning. Even if his start didn’t make him look so good. He’s trying to clean up people's opinion of him. He also just wants to live his life but is caught under the microscope of being an NHL player.

When Easton finds out everything that Shayla is dealing with and that she has to get married to get her inheritance early, he doesn’t hesitate. “Marry me”.

I loved them together. They had chemistry from the first time Shayla snapped at Mr. Walker, and he made it his mission to make her squirm. Their banter and bickering back and forth fooled nobody but themselves, and at times I don’t think they were even fooled. Easton is so protective of his family. You first see that with Max - his nephew - then with Shayla “his wife” and her mom. Easton and Shayla’s story was filled with so much emotions - old traumas, dealing with a sick parent, dealing with her own illness, learning to love yourself, not letting the opinions of others weigh you down, being worthy of love - but through it all there was beauty within.

“I love you so much I can’t breathe sometimes because you’ve taken up all the space inside my chest.”

“I will choose you every time, over and over until the day I take my last breath.”

🏒 Marriage of convenience
🍓 Forced proximity
🏒 Workplace
🍓 Curvy / autoimmune rep
🏒 My wife
🍓 Small town

I love that they are both attracted to each other from the start and that their attraction never went away, even during the time they were apart before meeting again. To Shayla he’s infuriatingly handsome and for him she’s perfect in every way, beautiful and so strong. They were both what they never knew they needed until they started to open up to each other. He reduced her insecurities, cared and never hesitated to defend her, as much towards his teammates than her father. And let’s not talk about her coward of an ex, this man was disgusting in every way possible. Easton is so devoted to her, protective and takes advantage of every possible moment to call her his wife.

They both fought their attraction until the day they agreed to get married. After that, our boy was so far gone for his wife and he never had to fake it. He made sure her wedding day was up to her expectations, even if it was for convenience. I mean he bought her a dress and everything to go with. Argh. Despite her efforts and the number of times she told herself not to get her heart involved, he won her over. I was on the verge of screaming every time they each thought it didn’t feel fake anymore. Their connection is next level and the passion between them is to melt for. And the scenes with their teammates?! (iykyk🥵)

The book was so well written, with a lot of loved side characters, a found family and enough drama. It’s my first book of this series and I’ll definitely read the others!

An I’ve died and gone to he falls first heaven, heart stopping, and incredibly perfect read! Easton has one thing and only one thing on his mind from the second he meets Shayla and that’s how he can make her his, and I am telling you right now his one track mind pays off spectacularly and has you dying from how insanely perfect hockey’s biggest play boy is at getting what he wants, showing how all in he is, and how big his love is for the woman that is his entire world. It’s fiery exchanges that make him want her more, a marriage of convenience that helps her and gets him exactly what he needs, and top notch chemistry and spice that sizzles right off the pages in a romance you never want to end and are more than ready to start all over again the instant you’re done.

Easton Walker is everything and so is this read! It is all kinds of sparks and fire with Easton loving and getting turned inside out by any kind of attention Shayla pays him, it’s that bad boy with the hidden heart of gold who’d do anything for family, his undeniably swoony gestures for Shayla and her mom, and it’s Easton battling against his bad reputation when he’s never been more sure about anything than the way he feels about Shayla while she’s juggling confidence issues her ex left her with and the heartbreak of seeing her mom so sick, and it just makes your heart crazy happy as Easton proves again and again she’s it for him and Shayla finally lets go and lets him in her heart in

I had the incredible opportunity to read Tangled Vows by Ashley Cade early, and I am absolutely obsessed! As someone who LOVES reading hockey romances, this book hit all the right spots because I genuinely love the game. Ashley Cade has truly outdone herself, delivering the perfect mix of heart, heat, and hockey. From the very first chapter, I was hooked on the chemistry between the main characters—the tension, the banter, and the emotional depth had me re-reading this one a few times just to see if I missed anything with how fast I devoured it each time.

Ashley Cade balances the fast-paced sports action with raw, heartfelt moments, making this story both exciting and deeply moving. Whether you're a die-hard hockey fan or just love a swoon-worthy romance, Tangled Vows is a total win! You really don't have to be a hockey fan to read it.

I am so incredibly proud of Ashley Cade for bringing this story to life. It’s everything I hoped for and more! Huge thanks to her for the ARC—this one is definitely going on my favorites list! I can't wait for everyone to fall in love with Tangled Vows as much as I did! 🏒💙🔥

PS--I cannot wait to update this when it comes out to gush about my fave parts with everyone!

Tangled Vows has a bit of everything - hockey player, fake marriage, coworkers, close proximity to reel you in and have you hooked. Shayla and Easton have an instant spark, but things never go as planned. Now they are coworkers and have to face each other every day. Easton is trying to get himself sorted with his new team and fix his image. Shayla is trying to make it in her first job as well as be there for her mom. When things start to take a turn, these two seem to be the answer to each other’s problems even though it might be the last resort for Shayla. The moment these to met, their communication has be lacking and leads to so many moments that you want to shake some sense into them. The more time they spend together, the harder their chemistry is to ignore and the truth starts to come out. Easton will win your heart with his swoon worthy moments that make Shayla second guess her original opinions and have you rooting for these two to figure things out. Will they realize what they have and give it a real chance or will their tangled vows become untangled and just be a failed relationship in their books? I loved their journey and devoured every page of it!

You had me at He Falls First and Hard!

I can't say enough about the love story between Shayla And Easton:

Broody, sexy, cocky, redeemable hockey player - ✔️
Kind, beautiful, curvy, feisty dietician - ✔️
Real, flawed, raw, honest, generous, emotional  characters- ✔️
Steamy meet cute - ✔️
A love that grows between two people who slowly but surely have their walls knocked down - ✔️✔️

This is my first book by author Ashley Cade and she has definitely  turned me into a fan.  This book exposed my heart to every emotion:  happiness, sadness, self doubt, pure anger, heartbreak, introspection, love...so much love!  I saw so much of myself in Shayla...sometimes it hit too close to home, but what a way to make all the broken pieces fall together and remake themselves into something stronger, braver, more powerful.  There is so much back and forth, angst, and the struggle between two people who's paths take time to intertwine and who need to discover who they are separately on order to find out who they are together.  Completely fell in love with these two!!!  Inspiring 4.5 stars!

I would a million times over recommend this book!!! Easton and Shayla's story is that INCREDIBLE!!
Easton is an such a sweet, caring and incredibly loyal to his family, hockey team and his woman. It may have started out as fake between him and Shayla but the more he got to know her, she was under his skin and he couldn't stop thinking about her. He was just the most wonderful book boyfriend/husband you could have. He had Shayla's best interest at heart and made she was always cared for. He was a beast in the bedroom and had a certain amount of times that he met every time 😉
Shayla was such a great character as well. She was in a pickle and needed an out. She found that in Easton. Her mom was sick and they needed to make sure she was taken care of. This is when Easton shined. He went overboard with this. Buying all new things and giving her the space to be with her mom. The two families meshed so well together.
These two define the odds and find love. I absolutely loved every minute of this book and found myself so immersed into the story. I want to move to Willow Brook Falls and go watch Easton and the guys play Hockey and hang out with Shayla and her friends.

This may have taken the top spot as my favorite Ashley Cade book to date. Tangled Vows is the third book in the Willow Brook Falls Series and WOW if it is not everything you wanted and more.

Shayla (FMC)- Hockey team dietician, caregiver, loyal, loving, strong.

Easton (MMC)- NHL Player, image in danger, reformed player, cinnamon roll, SO DOWN BAD FOR HIS WOMAN.

I absolutely loved Shayla and Easton their story is so inspiring to those going through hard times, or struggling/struggled with an autoimmune disease. Both Shayla and Easton are new to the Richmond Wraiths. Circumstances arise and they find themselves entering a marriage of convenience. I devoured this book, I absolutely read it within 24 hours and loved EVERY SECOND. The banter, chemistry, and the SPICE. 🥵🥵

Such an emotional and amazing book!!

This was a great book! I loved Shayla and Easton. I loved how Shayla was strong and loved herself. Easton was smitten with her since he first laid eyes on her. Shayla wasn't too sure of Easton's feelings for her were real because of past negative experiences with men.

I enjoyed how Easton was sweet and a family guy underneath his playboy persona that everyone (the media) has labeled him as. Easton did not give up on breaking down Shayla's walls and I loved him for that. He wanted Shayla. Shayla needed money to help with her mom's medical expenses so Easton proposed a marriage of convenience between him and Shayla to help him clean up his reputation and for her to get access to her trust fund.

Faking it may be what happens at first but, eventually their feelings become real! This was a great sports romance too! Easton played professional hockey and Shayla was his team's Dietician.

This story has a lot of my favorite tropes. I love a good hockey romance where he falls first. It definitely did not disappoint. I have read Ashley's books before. She writes romance stories that stay with you long after the last page.

Shayla was an amazing character. She loved her family and was so strong. Easton was a reformed player. They had great chemistry. Shayla and Easton have an encounter and she misread the situation. Easton soon realizes she works for his hockey team. Things happen and they need each other to help out. Easton is there for Shayla and it was so beautiful to watch. Their story is very emotional. I couldn't put it down.

Thank you to Ashley and her team for the opportunity to read this early. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more from this talented author.

Tangled Vows is totally what this book is about! A marriage of convenience full of witty banter, a cinnamon roll hockey hunk, and a young woman finally coming into her own after dealing with family issues and body image issues.
Once Easton and Shayla finally give in to chemisty this slow burn turns steamy. I did love the slow burn, the anticipation. It was really well written and easy to read. The banter kept things moving and when Easton decides you're his, well that's all and he's gonna prove it.
I totally fell for Easton, although I had a hard time with Shayla. I think it was all the back and forth of her not deeming herself worthy enough of his love and affection. Other than that, great read and I'm eager for more. Can't imagine who will be next to find their "forever" in Willow Brook Falls!

I always enjoy marriage of convenience. No matter what you know someone is going to fall hard and the other person won’t be far behind. Ashley proved that with Easton and Shayla!

Easton and Shayla are attracted to each other from the start. A foiled moment is the beginning of a series of miscommunications. Easton is trying to turn his playboy image around. Shayla is trying to pave her own way while also taking care of her family. When Easton realizes they can both be beneficial to each other, the fake marriage is born.

All it takes is time to get to know each other, finally clearing up those miscommunications, and a shortage of beds for these two to give in to temptation. That’s when the chemistry explodes!

This is such a brilliant read.
There is an instant attraction between Easton and Shayla but when he rejects her she gives up on men. But then it turns out that she is going to see him all the time as they will be working together.
She tries to stay away from him but when he stands up for her she starts to change her mind about him. So when he offers her a fake marriage to help get her inheritance to help pay for her mothers cancer treatment and it will also help clean up his image.
They soon get close and I loved how they were together but can they get their hea when someone is trying to tear them apart.
A must read with a brilliant ending.

This is the third book in a series of interconnected, standalone stories by Ashley Cade. I made it through the first book with some struggle, DNF the second book because of ick, and approached this book with great trepidation. I am glad to see that Ashley Cade has grown and developed in her writing style, and that her characters have also matured.

Overall, I really did enjoy the story between Easton and Shayla. Easton is a soon to be reformed playboy hockey player, and Shayla has had a lot of struggles throughout her life. Their story is of a marriage of convenience, where they end up falling in love with each other. A very late third act breakup was quite predictable, but they ended up with their HEA after all.

Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. Note that there is mention of emotional abuse in a relationship, self esteem/ self worth issues, abandonment by a parent, caregiving of a sick parent due to cancer, so may be triggers for sensitive readers. This was definitely a slow burn romance as they only get together three quarters into the book. But the chemistry, tension, banter and emotion between Easton and Ashley as they both start to connect was both sweet and steamy. This was a well balanced sports romance that had spice, swoon worthy moments and definitely heart tugging ones that you don't want to miss.

4.5 Stars!

I am very happy that I picked this one up, even without reading the first 2 books in the Willow Brook Falls series. I felt that Shayla represented a lot of us women in the real world; those who have slight self-esteem/body image issues, those who are caring for an ailing parent and those who have a horrible ex. I loved that she was spunky, smart and held her own. Easton was the best kind of MMC - he falls first, is the best Uncle, a team player, caring and so loving to those important to him. I hated the pain miscommunication has caused for both Easton and Shayla, but it did add to the story. I'm off the pick up the previous Willow Brook Falls books!

I think this was my favorite of the series so far.

This books burn was slow but so worth it when they finally gave in.

Easton is a hockey player who’s currently been traded to another team after he’s caught with his coach’s wife. When he’s out bonding with some of his new teammates he and Shayla spot each other and after a quick introduction they head out. Just when they were going to get to the good part Easton recieved a phone call reminding him to be on his best behavior since he’s on thin ice. After this call leaves him in no room for company Easton has Shayla leave. Embarrassed Shayla doesn’t tell her friends what happening, thinking Easton stopped the hook up due to her body.

When Easton shows up for a meeting with the teams new dietician he’s surprised to see it’s Shayla. They each pretend to not know each other but Easton’s flirtations make Shayla think he’s making fun of her. When Shayla’s mom’s cancer returns and she needs to marry to access her trust fund, Easton volunteers to help rehab his image.

The more time the two spend together the clearer it becomes how much Easton does want Shayla and is willing. To do anything to finally have her. These two definitely had to work hard to get their HEA was so happy with how they worked everything out to stay together.

I’m a huge fan of hockey romances which is what drew me to this book. But even if you know nothing about the sport, you can still find something to love in this book. I finished the story in less than 24 hours. The main characters, Shayla and Easton, are very relatable and bring the story to life. I have had similar feelings to Shayla at times which made her very real to me. The push and pull of the characters kept me interested until the last page. It was a beautiful story with a wonderful ending. This is my first book that I have read by Ashley Cade and it didn’t disappoint. I will be going back and reading the first 2 books in this series.
