I came to Monaco for a summer of sun, sea, and zero complications.
Glamorous parties, private yachts, and waterfront cocktails - this trip was meant to be an escape. A few carefree months with my best friends before reality came crashing back in.
Men? Not on the agenda.
But then I met him.
Frederic Moreau.
Arrogant. Infuriating. Dangerous in every possible way.
From the second we crossed paths, it was war. A stolen taxi, a spilled drink, a dance I never agreed to - he was always there, smirking, taunting, pushing me closer to the edge.
And when I finally snapped? He kissed me.
That should have been the end of it. But Frederic doesn’t just play games - he plays to win.
And now, I’m his obsession.
The problem is, I can’t decide if I want to fight him or fall for him. Because beneath the dominance, the teasing, the unbearable smugness - there’s a man I wasn’t supposed to find. A man who knows exactly how to break me apart and put me back together again.
I swore I wouldn’t get caught up in him. I swore I wouldn’t lose myself to a man who doesn’t know how to stop.
But here in Monaco - where every risk feels like a thrill, and every touch burns like fire - losing has never felt so intoxicating.
Set against the backdrop of Monaco’s glittering nightlife, luxury yachts, and high-speed thrills, My French Love Affair is a scorching enemies-to-lovers romance filled with tension, passion, and the kind of love that refuses to play by the rules.
Perfect for readers who love fiery banter, dominant heroes, sharp-witted heroines, and high-stakes romance with a push-and-pull dynamic that will leave you breathless. This book will sweep you away to the sun-soaked shores of the French Riviera - and make you never want to leave.
An easy fun summer read. Poppy is my favorite FMC in a long time. I loved the banter between her and Freddie. I'm a sucker for the enemies to lovers trope. I have really liked the strong female friendships that ran parallel to the romcom.
Definitely add this to your TBR. Thank you for the ARC copy Melissa Jane.
This book is an easy 5 stars 🌟 It was a perfect enemies to lovers. The banter was phenomenal. The characters were relatable and lovable and there was just enough racing for an F1 fan to love. This is definitely one of my top books of the year so far. Now I have to go back and read the others. Read this one in one sitting!
My French Love Affair is the second book in this series that I have had the pleasure of reading, and I am loving them!! What is not to love about an enigmatic, insufferable Alpha male F1 Driver that falls first!! It's incredible, that is what it is! This book is so well written with all the feels that you just cannot put it down. Poppy was in a relationship that just didn't make her toes curl, her heart flutter or her pulse race whenever Noah was with her. He was comfortable!! And Poppy decided she needed more than just "comfortable". So, when her besties, Emma, Jas and Leah persuade her to go to Monaco and be with them for a holiday that included the F1 Grand Prix, she relented, deciding that the best way to get over Noah was to have a much needed holiday! And so begins her adventure of meeting Frederic for the first time, at the Nice airport where she hijacks his private car, mistaking it for a taxi!! LOL I mean, really!? A town car with a private driver and she thinks it is a taxi, hilarious! Frederic is captivated by the mysterious woman who steals his car, obviously not knowing his identity! And so this is the beginning of a few eventful meetings that Poppy and Frederic encounter, all with Poppy having no idea who the mysterious man is....she accuses him of trying to abduct her and be a stalker among other things. Frederic finds this amusing, and cannot seem to forget the beauty that he has set his sights on! I loved the banter and the quick wit between the MMC and MFC. She is one sassy lady who doesn't take things lightly and gives Frederic a run for his money before he can pin her down......underneath him....right where she belongs!! The heat and spice is "H.O.T. as it should be with a Frenchman involved! You will love the way Frederic wears Poppy's resolve down, as she begins to relent to his attention, and when she finds out who he is!! OMG!!! it is a LOL moment for Frederic, as he takes great delight in watching her reaction when she is told by her besties who he is and how exciting it is that he is interested in her. A brilliant love story with all the feels that concludes with a beautiful HEA, as they make a long distance relationship work for them. A swoon worthy 5 stars from me!
As an ARC reader, I was excited to dive into My French Love Affair, and overall—it delivered! The story is engaging, it unfolds nicely, and the setting adds that irresistible French charm.
The characters are sweet and easy to root for, but the cat-and-mouse game between the main couple? Let’s just say it felt more like a cat, nap, mouse, F1, wait… okay now kiss situation. A little drawn out for my taste.
Still, it’s an entertaining, feel-good read with lovable leads. Perfect for when you’re in the mood for a slow-simmering romance.

My French Love Affair
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)
Everything I have read by Melissa Jane has been just amazing. I have not yet read an F1 romance until this book and let me tell you, I am here for it. Did I also enjoy pretending I knew what it was like to be rich and on vacation, absolutely I did.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Poppy has decided to fly to Monaco last minute post breakup to meet up with a few of her friends. And from the minute she touches down, we are met with the banter and the charm of Fredric Moreau. And do we think sweet Poppy knew that she just accused the F1 driver hottie stealing her cab. Nope of course not, he was just some random crazy hot guy to her. But as she keeps running into him her despise for him grows.
Fredrick however couldn't believe this beautiful woman wasn't falling over herself to meet him and had just stolen his car. And that bothers him, to the point he keeps thinking about her. And when he continues to run into her, he not only continues to make her put her foot in her mouth but decides she will be his.
"You want to act like a brat, Poppy?" "You want to tease me?" "Then I think it's only fair, that I make you beg for it"
My French Love Affair is an enemies to lovers slow burn that is perfect for the coming summer. Thank you Melissa Jane for allowing me to read this early. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Just finished My French Love Affair by Melissa Jane and I’m here for it! 🏎️💥 Poppy’s post-breakup trip with her girlfriends (their friendship is EVERYTHING) to Monaco turns into a whirlwind encounter with Frederic, a Formula 1 driver she initially can’t stand (for no freaking reason 😂). But as their paths keep crossing, the tension turns into something much spicier. 🔥 Melissa Jane really knows how to write sizzling chemistry and great spice! ❤️ While I’m reading the book I couldn’t picture one specific driver, from what she described he’s a mix of Max, Lando and Charles with a sprinkle of Zade Meadows 😉 which had me hooked from start to finish. And as a Formula 1 fan, I loved how accurately the sport was portrayed – it’s like being right there in the pits! 🏁 If you’re into F1 or sports romance this one’s for you.
My French Love Affair is like jet-setting straight into a five-star fantasy where the foreplay starts with a fight and ends in absolute filth. Poppy heads to Monaco after a breakup expecting sunshine, cocktails, and girl time. What she gets is Frederic Moreau, a cocky Formula 1 driver who is smug, arrogant, and dangerously attractive.
Their first meeting is chaos with a side of flirtation. He’s dirty in all the right ways and praises like a man who knows exactly what he’s doing. She’s fierce and stubborn, not here to fall in love, until he turns her entire summer upside down.
With a hilarious girl gang, swoony moments, and spice that does not hold back, this book is pure indulgence. Whether or not you care about Formula 1, Frederic is the kind of man who will have you blushing, giggling, and fully obsessed.
****ARC Review**** Three words oh my goodness! I was wrapped in a sea of whirlwind romance between Poppy and Frederick. This book has me needing to visit Monaco during the Grand Prix in hopes of finding the love of my life. They go from a tense game of banter to falling madly in love and every second has you needing and wanting more. Unable to stop taking it all in. It pulls you in and holds you there and the world around you stops. Nothing else matters except getting more of this book. The laundry can wait, dinner can wait, sleep can wait, as long as you have Poppy and Frederick! This is a must read for all my enemy to lovers readers!
My French Love Affair is the perfect mix of sass, steam, and sparkle. Poppy and Frederic's banter? Absolutely electric. The haters-to-lovers tension was on point—every snarky, sassy exchange had me grinning, and every steamy moment? 👀 Let's just say open door fans will be elated.
The girl group dynamic was such a win for me. Their friendship felt so real—funny, fierce, sassy, and full of moments that made me absolutely laugh out loud.🩷 And can we talk about the setting? Monaco literally came alive on the page—glamorous, sun-soaked, and totally dreamy.🌅The fashion alone deserves its own review.
If you like spicy sports romance with witty banter, this one is for you.
I received an ARC for this book—big thank you to Melissa Jane!
This book had EVERYTHING that I thought was missing from the last in the series, My Italian Love Affair. This was a classic enemies to lovers with fiery banter and an even more combustible MMC. I loved the fun, luxury setting of Monaco and the girls trip there. Loved that this book included more from the secondary characters, too. I enjoyed not having any expectations about the F1 world, because like our FMC, I know nothing, but liked that I didn’t have to know to enjoy the book and understand the pressure he was under.
Can we spend a minute discussing the spice level?! Because, wow. I would crawl for Frederic. This book is for anyone that enjoys light dom/sub and loves to be praised like a good girl. It’s not just passion, it’s trust and I love to see it. 🥵
Themes: -enemies to lovers -he falls first -dirty talking dom in the sheets and doting BF in the streets -no third act breakup/low angst in this respect -whirlwind romance-starts as a summer fling so she thinks
I loved it! The spice, the setting, the characters, all perfection. Excuse me while I fly to Monaco to hunt down Frederic "good girl" Moreau.
This book is not lacking in spice, banter, charm, or fun! The writing and story flows so effortlessly that I can never put them down. If you're looking for a new book boyfriend, Frederic is here for you and he's never letting you go.
This is a dual POV, short lived enemies to lovers contemporary romance with no third act breakup! So basically, one of my favorite kinds of romance novels.
3.5⭐️ I devoured this book. The setting was beautiful and luxe, a great place to escape to. The tension and the build up was perfect, their grumpy/sunshine vibes kept me wanting more. Unfortunately, once they give into each other the banter fell a little flat for me. Also, despite being a quick read, the story started to feel as if it was dragging on a bit towards the end and became a tad repetitive. Overall I really enjoyed the story and would recommend it to someone looking for a light hearted F1 romance!
The characters felt very relatable in the real world, and i felt like i was hanging out with the girls bu the pool! Poppy is head strong and determined not to fall for Fredric! Fredric drives fast, takes what he wants and always WINS, sweeping Poppy off her feet!
The banter was amazing, i did feel it got repetitive after a bit but not enough to annoy me! Was the perfect amount of slow burn for me! Cant wait foe the next book!!
I absolutely loved this book!! I immediately was invested in the characters. I loved Poppy and her group of girls so much. Frederic was everything ❤️ The setting, the banter, the fashion, the romance— all so well written and enjoyable to read. I never thought I could be into an F1 racer but…here we are.
The way this book just draws you in! I honestly couldn’t put it down. Enemies to lovers, the banter, and GOSH the spice! Every girl deserves their own Frederic!
“You were mine the second I saw you at the airport.” 😫💕
***THIS IS AN ARC REVIEW*** I absolutely loved this book. The Banter between the two main characters was chef's kiss. It was just the right amount of slow burn for me and the it was a great amount of spice! It was a great palette cleanser after reading much darker things. 10/10 definitely reccomend!
ARC review Omg!! Banter was bantering in here! I loved Poppy and Frederic’s relationship so much. This story made me laugh out loud, swoon over main characters and cheer for them. I wouldn’t mind a few extra chapters to find out more about their relationship in the future ❤️
📕 : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️ : 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ ✨ Enemies to lovers ✨ Banter ✨ French MMC ✨ slow burn ✨ dual POV ✨ HEA
I was so happy to receive this book as an arc and I want to write my review immediately so I can go back and read it again! I have read the previous 2 books and wanted to start by quoting the author from her social media page, where she talks about her 3 MMC in the European Love Affair series:
While Santi is Romantic And Matteo is playful Frederic is in a league of his own!
And he is! I devoured this book and I smiled the whole way through it. Poppy (FMC) has headed to Monaco to meet up with her girls after realising that her boyfriend of nearly a year is not the man for her anymore (thank heavens she comes to her senses there!) Everything is going wrong in the airport when she arrives and Poppy has her first altercation with Frederic (MMC). I was grinning like a fool at this point! The story just gets better and better; I love her friend group and whilst Poppy isn’t out to find a rich man, unlike her friend Leah, she does in fact find herself a formula 1 driver who comes from money and a lot of it - think generational wealth, mega rich! I love that while bragging about finding herself a rich man, Leah has actual found a con artist who is pretending Frederic’s wealth is his own 🫢. Frederic wants Poppy and he goes all out to get her. She doesn’t really stand a chance once he decides she’s his, despite trying to convince herself she doesn’t want a relationship and wants to focus on her career as a fashion designer. Meanwhile our MMC is made for speed and built to win and he sweeps our girl off her feet. The tension, the chemistry, the spice between Poppy and Frederic is on point! Frederic is my new book boyfriend, I just love everything about him. He’s whitty, charming, unmovable, determined, and very, very French! The banter between the two is hilarious and the giggles between the girl group made me feel like I was enjoying the fun with them. In fact I want to be part of their girl group now! I cannot recommend this book enough and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to be an arc reader. If you love enemies to lovers, spicy, funny romance stories, this is definitely the book for you!
Enjoy Mon Ange! Oh how I wish I had a French man to whisper that to me!
************ Arc Review ************ Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Dual POV Enemies to lovers Banter and laughs My favourite book of the series
I am in love! Melissa Jane just keeps getting better! I lived this story and I mean I could not put it down. If I did have to stop reading I was so frustrated because I wanted to pick it up again! This is Poppy and Frederic’s story and I adore them. Poppy is so relatable. At home she thinks she’s with the right man, he’s pleasant (a tad passive aggressive), but she’s realising that he actually isn’t what she wants, despite how much she attempts to convince herself otherwise. “Abort mission” had me giggling - I think I’ve felt that way a few times! So fresh from a break up our girl heads to Monaco where her friends are holidaying and unwitting and immediately gains the attention of Frederic Moreau - our French Formula 1 car racer. Pause to swoon! He is poles apart from anything Poppy has ever known and together they are hilarious. They really clash at first, but that tension and chemistry is always there. I don’t know anything about Formula 1, but suddenly I’m keen to learn! Poppy’s friendship group are funny and add to the drama. And the spice! The spice is the perfect amount and we don’t just get a snippet - it’s pages! The way Melissa Jane writes, it’s as if I were walking the streets of Monaco with Poppy and I just love her descriptions. If you’ve read the other books in the series beware - Frederic is definitely more of a dominant character, in the best possible way. I need to read this again, at a calmer pace and enjoy every second of it. If you love a romcom, enemies to lovers, with plenty of spice then let this be your next read. You will not be disappointed! I’m already waiting for the next book!!!!!
From the moment My French Love Affair throws us into the sun-drenched luxury of Monaco, it delivers exactly what it promises—a sizzling, high-stakes romance that refuses to play by the rules.
The heroine arrives for a summer of carefree indulgence, expecting nothing more than cocktails, yachts, and late nights with her best friends. What she doesn’t expect is Frederic Moreau—arrogant, insufferable, and dangerously irresistible. Their first meeting is a battlefield of stolen taxis and sharp words, setting the stage for a fiery enemies-to-lovers dynamic that crackles with tension.
Frederic is the kind of hero who knows exactly how to push buttons—and boundaries. Every stolen moment, every lingering glance, every challenge he throws her way is laced with an intensity that makes their chemistry impossible to ignore. And when their war of wills explodes into something far more physical, the result is a romance that’s as intoxicating as the Riviera itself.
What makes My French Love Affair stand out isn’t just the heat (though trust me, it delivers). It’s the depth beneath the banter—the way their push-and-pull reveals vulnerabilities neither expected to share. The setting adds to the allure, immersing readers in Monaco’s opulence while heightening the stakes of a love story built on risk and recklessness.
If you love dominant, cocky heroes, whip-smart heroines who refuse to back down, and tension so thick it practically begs to be broken, this book is for you. My French Love Affair is a decadent, fast-paced escape—one that will leave you breathless and aching for more.
Dear Melissa, you have created a monster. Thank you so much for choosing me as one of your ARC readers. I’m honored and thankful.
So you remember how in Lizzie McGuire’s movie when she goes to Rome and listens to Paolo and Isabella’s album and says that is the kind of CD she would listen to while driving without a care in the world enjoying life? Yeah okay that’s exactly my sentiments towards this book. If you ever find yourself in a reading slump, if you need a comfort book come read this. The way the author transports you to Monaco and the magnificence of Formula 1 is nothing short of amazing. You feel yourself being a part of the glamour, the walks along the harbor and your skin getting tanned by the most glorious sunshine. Frederic Moreau is the man of the hour and he can have me at his mercy whenever he wishes, thank you so much. The pull between them two, the way he was always such the gentleman, how they were inevitable is poetic in more than one way. Poppy being stubborn and focused is one of my favorite things about her and her group of friends worthy of a book for each of them (believe me, I’d be invested). Melissa was just able to go above and beyond with the story she crafted and it is needless to say that if you are a Formula 1 Fan in love with the classic of it all with old money and Monaco plus a fantastic love story… baby just say yes to this book.
Poppy (the FMC) ends a passionless relationship and sets off to Monaco to join her friend for Grand Prix week. The enemies to lovers vibe in the book is great. I loved the banter within the book and the opposing sides of Fredric (the MMC) that were eventually shown). I personally really love traveling, so the unique location of the book made things that much more exciting! However, I thought the book could’ve been about 200 pages shorter because there honestly weren’t many “side stories” going on, so the extra length felt like filler for me. So, if a short read is what you’re looking for, this may not be your book, but if you’re looking for book that hooks you it may just be the one! I also found that the spice was very much centralized (for example, if it was spicy, it was the entire chapter and the scenes were mainly in the latter chapters) which felt a little forced at times, but is also ideal if spice isn’t your thing because it’s easily skippable. Overall, I enjoyed this read and will definetly be reading the first two books that I missed out on!!
As an ARC reader, I can confidently say My French Love Affair had me hooked from the very first page! Once again, Melissa delivers a story that pulls you in with its charm, chemistry, and irresistible characters. Frederic is everything you want in a dominant alpha male—sexy, confident, and oh yeah, a race car driver! Seriously, who could resist?
The banter between the characters is sharp and fun, and the spice? Chef’s kiss. It’s the perfect balance—enough to keep you blushing and turning the pages, but never overpowering the story.
Just when I think she can’t possibly top the last one, she proves me wrong. All three books in this series have been amazing, and My French Love Affair is no exception. No disappointments here—just another swoon-worthy, binge-worthy romance that I couldn’t put down! Can’t wait to see what she gives us next!
This book has me in a chokehold and I miss them already
When I tell you that this book had me sucked in from the beginning I’m not lying. Not only does it have a FMC who has silk, sass and zero tolerance for cocky man, a MMC who is not just possessive more like obsessed; it has a fun, supportive girl group dynamic that makes you laugh and feel apart of the group too. Reading the beginning makes me realize that I, just like Poppy, aren’t as drawn into the cheesy romantic things others are😅 like, who calls a girl petal?!🥴 (Thank goodness she got out when she did lol)
The banter between Poppy and Freddie was SO good but their push and pull dynamic combined with their chemistry was 🥵. The yacht scene will forever live rent free in my mind🥵 iykyk 👀 but seriously you guys, I would 10/10 recommend reading this book, it will leave you in a chokehold.
My French Love affair by Melissa Jane This is my 3rd book I have read from the series and I love them all! Poppy breaks up with her boyfriend and goes away for a girl's trip! I love her girlfriends and how supportive they are and look out for each other and are our to have some fun!! From the moment Poppy meets Fredric not having a clue who he was but she couldn't stand him or his cocky attitude, but their paths keep crossing and it infuriates her.....until it doesn't. I love how Poppy gives attitude right back to him and it throws him off but he love it! Someone that challenges him. They challenge each other. I'm not really into F1 racing but I was still right in the book when the race began! It's spicy but not too spicy in my opinion. I can't wait for the next book Melissa Jane has for us!
I was lucky enough to receive this as an advanced read a copy. I fell in love with the story within the first 5% of the book, and it just kept getting better and better. Often in this style of book, the FMC and the MMC fight for so long that they don’t get together until 80 or 90% of the book is over and then I get really sad that I didn’t get to see the full journey develop. But in this book, it happened much earlier and we got to see so much more of their story. Frederic sounds so domineering and handsome, and Poppy is such a strong woman and doesn’t make it easy for him despite him obviously being such a catch. Loved everything about this book and can’t wait for the next in the love affair series!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This European Love Affair series just keeps on getting better. In this book we meet Poppy, a fashion design student who has recently separated from her boyfriend and headed to Monaco to enjoy a girl’s trip. When she lands at the airport everything has gone wrong and it’s chaos. Luckily she finds a taxi and is about to leave when a man informs her that this is his car not hers! And so the story begins, because the hot French guy is in fact F1 driver Frederic Moreau. And my god do I love him! Melissa writes such brilliant MMC’s, but honestly he is my absolute fav! I am taking this book on holiday and reading it on a beach somewhere, because it deserves that. I love it! Funny, great story and spicy!
Poppy & Frederic🥵 so so stubborn, that you want to smack their heads together a few times. I love Poppy who is a straight forward woman with passion (for fashion - pun intended). Frederic must be one of the hottest and cocky man ever described, but he is definitely captivating. Together they are 💥⭐️🌶️
She did it again people! This author will send you into an world of spicy love in different places. It even got me to see a F1 documentary, so like wtf🤣 you didn’t know you had this kink before today The serie has 3 books so far, and hopefully all the other countries in Europe in planning. Just mentioning that I wish for over 40 more😇
