"I don't need gentle. I need you to own me." - Yanelle, moments before Zelle snatched her soul. If Shay Davis writes it, I’m reading it, always. DeliciousDevotion was a short novella length story that captured my interest from pageone. It was fast paced, ends with a happily ever after, and had me feigning for more of the characters. Yanelle had been a sex worker for six years, and she was at the age where she is less desirable, essentially “old”. There were plans being made for the future of Yanelle but fate made it to where Zeke and his brother intercepted the plans and not only saved Yanelle but two other women, Tisha and Sam.
I am a sucker for this type of story - the kind where the MMC reminds the FMC that she is in fact- That Girl! And that’s what Zekedid, he poured into Yanelle, helped her to see her worth, and genuinely loved every depth of her heart. Whew. I love a good man. I thought Shay tackled the storyline well; I felt like the girls got justice for the pain inflicted upon them, and gained the family they deserved. I would have liked more of Tisha and Sam but I understand the focus was on Zeke and Yanelle. I am hopeful this isn’t the last of this group.
