Katherine Jakobson is simply trying to move on from her past. After losing her father, Katherine decides to leave the city life behind her and relocate to a small town called Durksden, Washington. There, Katherine is finally able to start over. Until one night, when someone comes knocking on her door. A young woman named Molly crashes into Katherine’s life and begs for a safe place to reside while she hides out from her abusive father. Dark memories from her past force Katherine to help the girl and her life gets completely turned around.
Jeremy Murray is a rich boy, turned independent lawyer, who’s just trying to make a name for himself without the help of his father. Jeremy also resides in Durksden and continues, but fails, to strengthen his career within the small boundaries of the town. When a job opportunity presents itself for Jeremy, he’s reunited with Katherine Jakobson, a girl he once briefly knew.
Months fly by as Jeremy and Katherine grow closer, but more secrets begin to wedge between the two of them. Katherine struggles to keep Molly’s secret as Jeremy begins spending more time with her. However, Katherine’s problems start to magnify when Molly disappears from her home. Jeremy works day and night to help Katherine but digs a little too deep and finds something dark about her past. Could not put this book down! Did not see the twist at the end coming. Such a good read for anyone who loves a good mystery.
