Some Can Only Imagine

Rate this book
Self-published author and artist Yennie Fer recounts her tale of pregnancy losses in this eye-opening memoir.

Yennie Fer was thirty-one years old when she started her trying to conceive journey. She was always good with children, so she wanted her own. Adoption was always something she had in mind, but she longed for the journey of pregnancy. Her first pregnancy resulted in an unexpected twist. All Yennie wanted was to be like everyone else who had given birth.

Surviving an abusive past, she wanted to undo generational trauma. Yennie faced the struggles of PTSD, unhealthy friendships, mental breakdowns, chronic pain, and horrible doctors. At times, she coped with some dark humor.

Being an artist and author, Yennie had the personality of someone very silly and kind. (Sometimes too kind.) Multiple miscarriages had changed her to form into someone she didn’t recognize. A crack that led into her villainess era, perhaps?

Some Can Only Imagine brings awareness to those who know and don’t know the struggles of pregnancy losses. It can inspire and tear you apart at the same time. Yennie’s battle for recovering mentally and physically wasn’t an easy one.

This book forever hit her the hardest, and you might feel that too.

Yennie Fer is an artist and a multi-genre author. She has a collaborative webtoon series called "Remote Angel" with her writing partner Banunu.

Remote Angel had a former, retired version that's out of print. With Banunu, they renewed and revamped the story. So far, it has two volumes. Volume 3 is currently halfway done, as of mid-2025.

Yennie Fer is also known for her memoir, Some Can Only Imagine. It is about her experiences with recurrent pregnancy losses.

This Is My Exodus was their first written novel-formatted book together, which had a successful Kickstarter for its bizarre yet twisty nature.

She has a middle school horror book also in the works with Banunu. "Don't Call Them Cute." It will be released sometime later in 2025.

And her latest WIP is a Dark Mafia romance story. It will be her first slowburn spicy romance story with Banunu. No more teasers on that.

I don't typically write reviews on here, but wow...this book needs to reach as many people as possible. I had the honor of proofreading, so I got to experience the book before anyone else(aside from the other proofreaders). Such a raw look at what misacrriage can be like. If you don't feel seen or understand, this book may be for you. While I have not experienced loss like this myself, I feel that I understand it better after reading Yennie's memoir. Keep going strong, Yennie!

This book took courage to produce, and I feel like everyone needs to read this authentic, real, and raw portrayal of pregnancy loss, especially with the amount of misunderstanding surrounding it! Please read this and encourage others too!

The most heartbreaking thing about this book is that you desperately hope for a happy ending even when you know what’ll happen. The personal love & care that you see written into this book as you get to know Yennje in a deeply personal sense shows the faces of grief & regaining faith in the circumstances of abuse, shattered hope, & the rebuilding of ones sense of purpose in the seemingly endless tides of grief.

Each time, I prayed that somehow the pages of the book would morph into a happy ending, with Jellybean, Rosalina, & Chily making it home in the arms of their loving parents. Instead, I was left with the devastation of each baby dying compiled with the continuous medical misogyny & gaslighting. I was aching for Yennie learning the abuse she was forced to endure, the strain that wrung her marriage.

I was rooting for Yennie continuously. Knowing her past, I wanted her to have her babies so badly. But instead, she became a mother of three angels. This book covers the uncomfortable truths that people turn their backs on surrounding medical care, child abuse, religious trauma, chronic pain, & the loss of babies. None of this agony should have happened to Yennie. She should have her three babies with her, not the weight of cruelty & PTSD.

The thing that left me furious was the fact that a nurse had lost Yennie’s baby. What was the reason? Why didn’t that woman just get the doctor?! I found myself wishing Yennie took legal action because that left me so angry for her & her baby who was robbed of ever being able to come home with their parents & siblings.

This book is an absolutely a must read for those who have experienced the loss of a child, abuse, chronic pain, & religious trauma. For those who haven’t, still read this. This gives the important insight people need for those who want to do better for those grieving & be the support system that Yennie herself never had.

Please read this beautiful book that tears away the curtains of taboo & reveals an authentic look into heart break & resilience all at once. You won’t regret it.

This was a heart wrenching and upsetting story about this authors' miscarriages. I was honestly angry for Yennie a few times while reading this. It was eye opening to read about the disregard towards Yennie's health and her trauma with miscarrying. Definitely recommend picking up this book, and wishing the author well!
