Naga's Mate

Rate this book
She hid her true nature for years. Now she's caught in his coils with no escape.

For five years, plant expert Lyra has kept a deadly secret in the Serpent Dominion. She's an omega hiding in plain sight, making special plant medicines to mask her scent from the snake-like nagas who rule her world.
But one mistake changes everything.

When strange pollens wreck her carefully made suppressants, Commander Nezzar—the most feared naga guard in the territory—catches her scent. His massive coils trap her before she can run. His venomous bite floods her body with pleasure she can't fight. And worst of all? Her body craves more.

Claimed against her will, Lyra becomes addicted to Nezzar's venom. Her senses grow stronger with each bite. Her body adapts to his twin lengths. And when she finds herself carrying his hybrid child, everything she thought she knew about monsters gets turned upside down.

When the human resistance tries to "rescue" her, Lyra discovers they might be more monstrous than the predator who now owns her body and heart. Caught between two worlds, she must keep fighting a losing battle, or embrace the strange bond forming with her captor.

Naga's Mate is the second book in the hot and steamy Prime Omegaverse Series! Each book features a different monster alpha and the human omega who turns their world upside down. Contains explicit adult scenes with claiming bites, breeding, and possessive alphas who always get what they want. Happy endings guaranteed!

Sweet and steamy is my thing! I just love when a hero is gentle, passionate, and protective with his heroine. It makes me melt inside. As a reader, I’ve especially come to love monster romance novels, but I couldn’t find enough that scratched that itch. So I decided to start writing!

DROPPED.

UGHH NO. Another Prime Omegaverse I cannot appreciate. I'm officially dropping this author's work in future. Every book is written without any real emotion, it's like reading a clinical pamphlet. The only good thing? The devious book cover.

So far I'm very unimpressed by the unlikeable/unlovable heroines in Book 1 and 2. I wouldn't call this a dark romance, either - unless we're talking about the non-con/dub-con. I wouldn't even label this a romance? Sure didn't give me any feels at all, except anger. Not to be extreme, but this story read like we're being told, for example...LYRA IS A BOTANIST. LYRA IS SCARED SHE'S GOING THROUGH STOCKHOLM SYNDROME. LYRA DOESN'T LIKE HER CAPTOR. Okkkk, why don't you just write it in the way the readers get to experience the emotion and come to that conclusion themselves instead of being repeatedly told about it? That sucks the fun out of immersive reading.

Look, I was going to forge on ahead because NEZZAR was growing on me, and I wanted to ship the MCs, (I also wanted to give this author a second chance) but LYRA was being a stubborn ass who refuses to open her heart, albeit she has her own reasons. But...to terminate their growing baby in her womb? Well, that was a hard NO for me.

I get that the author made LYRA choose the rebellion over Nezzar because it was the life she's known, and it's for her to realize that the rebellions are the true antagonist of the story, BUT all I could see was a big fat glaring "INDECISIVE" stamped on the heroine's forehead. For a scientist, she wasn't making smart choices, and I'm being biased because I'm hoping for some catchy-feely feels, and obviously the plot's not going in the direction I want soo...

OVERALL I genuinely ADORED the idea of this story but, the main reason I'm DNF-ing this author's works is because I don't feel an OUNCE of romance or emotional bonding or relationship building between her characters all the time. I'm not dissing the author's work, I'm just honestly saying that as a reader, it's IMPORTANT for me to feel and experience it and not be TOLD about it. It defeats the purpose unless I'm reading a SELF-HELP book.

Took me 9 days but I finally decided to finish this one. It also took a lot of skimming to bypass all the repetitive unfeeling scientific talk. Kind of depressing there for a while with her escape and then finally the end offered some personality and kinda cute interactions between the MCs. A little too late tho tbh.

I'm gonna leave this here for future me, in case I decide out of what will have to be boredom to finish this one.

From the beginning I felt disconnected from the FMC. Same writing style as book one but, for whatever reason, the FMC being a botanist and her need to scientifically break down each and every little thing sucked all the life out of the book. Especially when the MMC comes along, which we surprisingly got his POV in chapter two, but I'm assuming that was a one off. Anyway, both MCs speak and act very cold and analytical about life and each other. I was not enjoying it at all. There was just a huge disconnect that left me feeling nada for this one or it's characters. The immediate jump to sex and claiming didn't even revive it either.

And truly, I was so confused by the authors need to repeat the MMCs "coils" over and over and over. The way they would describe what a newly introduced coil was doing to the FMC left me scratching my head because the imagery it created in my mind was more like the coils were tentacles and not the length of a naga male. But, whatever.

I was bored, so I'm gonna move on to the next.

Look, I just couldn't get into this. It's the same problem I had with the first book - the r*pe aspects.

While the smut was hot, the fact the heroine is literally being forced and split open against her will is just not hot to me. Lyra is constantly battling with the fact she does not want this.

Nazzar seems super generic as a male lead and the fact he never even considers her feelings or fear was gross to me. It's all "your mind lies, your biology tells the truth"..... no my guy, if a woman says no, even if her body experiences pleasure, that doesn't make it consent or anything other than rape. The author seems to make us want to like him by having him be all "your mind is deep, you're still a botanist" but it's literally just lip service compared to his actions throughout.

Also, read the content warnings, there's a pretty detailed abortion scene I was not expecting to read and a scene where naga kids are slaughtered which further took me out of the story and the "romance". Also, I'm not here to comment for or against abortion, but having the heroine regret her choice / "she thought she wanted freedom and not she regrets it" kind of gave me the ick.

In a world shattered by dimensional rifts and ruled by powerful monstrous Primes, Lyra (h) has spent years hiding her true omega nature, pretending to be something she is not, a beta. When her deception fails, she's captured by Nezzar (H), an alpha naga commander who sees beyond her resistance to the omega instincts she has fought so hard to suppress. Forced into a brutal new reality, Lyra struggles with what it means to be claimed, to lose control, to adapt, and to survive. Battling captivity, instinct, and a biological need that refuses to loosen, she must navigate a life where choice feels impossible. But as biology and autonomy collide, she and Nezzar begin to forge something neither expected, a partnership built not just on dominance or submission but on mutual respect and the possibility of something more. As threats from the human resistance and naga tradition alike close in, Lyra must decide where she stands. Caught between two worlds, she fights not just for her freedom but for a relationship that rewrites the old rules, as their bond evolves into something that doesn't fit into old categories of dominance and submission, but instead is built on shared purpose and emotional connection. A steamy, dark omegaverse, enemies to lovers, noncon/dubcon, naga-human romantasy exploring adaptation, evolution, trust, power, consent, control, identity, partnership, bridging divides, and survival. Nezzar and Lyra's journey doesn’t soften the harsh realities it explores. Pain, betrayal, and fierce loyalty fuel every turn. Transformation and real connection come not only through biology but through choice, acceptance, understanding, and real partnership.

❤️Thoughts❤️

Lyra is a brilliant botanist navigating a dystopian world where survival depends on hiding who she truly is. She’s spent years prioritizing secrecy over everything else—even her groundbreaking research for the Naga alphas. When she's captured by Nezzar, a fearsome Naga commander, her entire world is flipped upside down. True to her nature, Lyra tries to rationalize everything scientifically rather than trust her instincts or emotions, and that’s where the real tension begins.

The relationship between Lyra and Nezzar is a roller coaster—but in the best way. Lyra struggles to come to terms with her new reality while clinging to her past self, making their bond feel raw, intense, and incredibly human. Their chemistry? Undeniable. You’ll feel it in every scene.

Also, I loved how the story blurs the lines between captor and protector, desire and dependence. The emotional evolution—both in Lyra’s understanding of herself and of the world around her—adds a layer of complexity that I didn't expect.

Now, fair warning: Lyra makes a massive mistake that causes deep pain for both her and Nezzar. These chapters might be tough for some readers, and I wouldn’t blame anyone for getting frustrated with her. But if you stick with it, you’ll see a truly emotional arc unfold. Nezzar’s forgiveness and Lyra learning to forgive herself is powerful and satisfying. She won me over by the end of the book—trust me, it’s worth it.

Lyra, the female human omega lead, is a botanical chemist and has spent five years creating the suppressants that hide her designation. When her suppressants fail, she is located and claimed by Nezzar, the male naga alpha lead and commander of the area where Lyra lives and overseer of the research in the compound. Lyra’s cleverness and intelligence mean Nezzar chooses to keep her for himself and to supervise and encourage her work.

But the human resistance wants Lyra back, and they want the child she’s pregnant with gone as well. When Nezzar finds her again, will they be able to regain what has been lost?

This story is primarily female lead POV, interestingly written, and a dark, naga/human, dystopian omegaverse, erotic romance. I enjoyed Lyra’s persistent fight for autonomy and appreciated the scientific approach she brought wherever possible. I enjoyed Nezzar’s respect for Lyra’s intelligence, and his evolving emotions that he didn’t have vocabulary for. I enjoyed the erotic intimate scenes, though they started to feel a little repetitive. I enjoyed the evolution of the relationship between lead characters, and the glimpse of potential for something more than their social constructs should have allowed.

Chemistry by MeemsAngel82

This was a well written read and book 2 in this steamy Omega series. The story is a full one and one the does have a large trigger. I didn't see it coming and it is sad. The chemistry between our leads is very steamy and takes place in a world where Omegas are prized in one way, but hunted just the same.

The Naga would be visiting her lab just as she was running out of a valuable item for hiding her true nature.

I understood her fear and she was definitely right to try to avoid Alphas. He wasn't right to just seduce, his people should romance their women. The fear would be lessened. I wanted romance and I wish he wasn't so hard, I wish they discussed feelings and there was less clinical aspects when it came to them being together. When she was taken I was so shocked. I didn't ever think that the sacrifice-if you want to call it that-would actually happen. She gave up something for what she thought she had wanted-her freedom-that was apart of the both of them and I can't forgive that. The whole world and concept was so great, they are so hot together, but this loss wasn't ok for me.

Naga’s Mate is quite suspenseful and a page turning dark fantasy monster romance. The story is beautifully written, exceptionally balanced and perfectly executed by Allegra Rose. This is the first novel I’ve read by this author and was blown away by the storyline. The story is captivating from start to finish, entertaining and an enjoyable read. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading this book. I didn’t even want to set it down until I read the last page. Naga’s Mate follows the adventures of Lyra and Nezzar. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout the story. The chemistry between these two characters is absolutely breathtaking and undeniably irresistible. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both Lyra and Nezzar as well as witnessing their story unfolding throughout the book. I would absolutely give this book as a recommendation for anyone to checkout and give it a read. I’m definitely going to be checking out more of this author’s work in the future.

Scientist Lyra Wilson is a human omega who has hidden what she is from the monsters who had conquered Earth after coming through dimensional tears between the worlds.
Living in the serpent domain she hides her scent by using special plant derivatives which have worked for five years, until the day it all goes wrong.
Naga’s Mate is the second book in the Prime Omegaverse series and another addictive read that captures the imagination as it winds it’s way through a spicy, erotic claiming between an alpha and omega.
Naga Commander Nezzar is the one who discovers Lyra’s secret and takes her as unclaimed breeding stock, setting into motion events that will unite two souls in tragedy, betrayal, danger, and understanding which comes at great cost but leads to something bigger than captor and captive.
Great writing and well developed characters has me in love with this series and this story was another exceptional read. Can’t wait for the next book!.

In this world, Lyra is a hidden omega. After discovery she has to come to terms with what her life becomes. She is torn between finding peace with her life or trying to change it. Her character literally had to make a really hard choice. Nezzar is the alpha of this story. The way he was written isn’t common for the way alphas are written. While he did dominate and dictate he also let her find out the hard way.

I liked this story. I’d do wish that there was more depth to Nezzar in a way. Also, it felt like the plot of the resistance wasn’t as thoroughly intertwined with the story. It felt like those parts popped up and hen were gone.

Becoming the Naga’s Mate . . .

Lyra Wilson, human omega scientist, has kept her secret for many years. In the serpent domain, she is able to hide as she prepares a plant elixir that disguises her scent and keeps her unnoticed. But when her protective formula is altered by a strange pollen and her scent becomes noticed by Commander Nezzar, a snake-like naga, he immediately claims her and addicts her to his venom. Eventually, she finds herself carrying his hybrid child. Rescue by the humans would more than likely be the worst thing that could happen with the likelihood that she would be experimented on “for her own good”. Has she by now fallen for her mate? Will she get to choose her own fate? Or will her choice be made for her?

This is the first book of the series that I've read and I have to say it was an intense monster romance with a dark dystopian setting. Lyra is an omega and a scientist. She's been hiding her designation for years but it fails at the worst time. Nezzar is an alpha and when he discovers that Lyra is an omega, he's quick to claim her. I did like that he admired her intelligence and encouraged her to keep working... What follows is a gripping read that's full of twists, emotions, danger, sacrifice and spice. This really felt like a different take on the omegaverse trope and I loved it. Definitely check the TWs as there is the loss of a child in this one. I'm now hooked on this world and look forward to reading book one while waiting for the next book to come out. Good fun!

The first thing I want to say is that the world the author created in this series is robust and full of fascinating points. An interdimensional tear brings to our world various creatures that were thought to be of mythology. I've never really been into the whole omegaverse, but this one, I am definitely invested in. This is the second book of the Prime Omegaverse series and this story is around the Naga race. Omega female Lyra hides her omega-ness from Alphas that are more than happy to snatch her up. There's plenty of ups and downs and heat. Strange but steamy heat. Overall, it's a great read. Highly recommended.

For five years Lyra is able to keep her omega status hidden from the world. One night she has to get into a restricted garden to make a new batch of her medication that keeps her omega status unknown but when naga Commander Nezzar finds her where she’s not supposed to be as her medicine wears off her life changes forever. This world is fascinating with the changes to Earth that happen when “monsters” return to Earth and change the order of how everyone interacts. I couldn’t put this book down as the twists and turns in the plot kept happening when I didn’t expect them. Wow!.

Aún no puedo enlazarme a esa idea. Sin embargo, otros temas se hicieron más interesantes como la resistencia humana y la traición.
Sin duda, más interesante que el primero

This is a new author to me, and the entire premise of the story felt like a new take on omegaverse. I kept waiting for the story to take a predictable turn, and it did not. Fair warning: there is the loss of a child in this book. It caught me off guard. It wouldn't deter me from reading, but I do know that can be hard for some people. This is definitely an author I will read more from in the future. In fact, I am going to look up book one in this series now.

3.5 star read. When biologist & omega Lyra Wilson is discovered by Naga Commander & Alpha Nezzar, he claims her as his. As much as she resists, her heat doesn't let her reject his claim. The book has some interesting twists, turns, sizzle, steam, action, and more. This book really bogs down for me with how scientific the dialogue is and frankly very cold. Overall a good read and I look forward to more.

A scientist who is tripped up by science is basically what happens here. Lyra is hiding her true Omage nature however in order to do that she has to fabricate her own suppresants. She gets a few things wrong as she discovers she's about to run out and this combined with the elevated sense of smeall that Nagas have, means that Commander Nezzar is able locate her and in effect put a stamp of ownership to her. What follows is actually quite harrowing in places so do be aware of this before you jump into this tale. Nature, nurture, heart and head combine to make this more than you would expect.

I was thoroughly enjoying this book and seriously considering giving four to five stars up until Dr Lyra chose to take the pill that terminated her pregnancy. There was contact warning about debcon and non-con but no content warning about that. And if there had been I would have chose not to read this book. And if that wasn't bad enough then to read about the extermination of three youths had me feeling physically ill. I understand that this is a fictional book but content warnings are for a reason.

The heroine has an abortion which is pretty graphic. He forced her to have sex and claimed her and dosed her with his venom. She gets pregnant after 2 heats. The resistance rescues her. She had to stop his venom bond and she knew that would about her fetus. Afterwards, she is sad. She and the hero get pregnant again and she has a hybrid daughter.

He allows her to continue working as a scientist but overall this is a pretty dark romance.

“Naga’s Mate” by Allegra Rose

A dark, dystopian omegaverse where science meets sensuality and survival.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily sharing my opinion.

Lyra’s strength and Nezzar’s emotional growth add depth to their steamy bond.
Though the resistance plot fades at times, the romance evolves with heart.
Gripping, erotic, and emotionally charged—an intense monster love story loaded with a scientific approach.

Interesting and unique.

A longer read but always enjoy this author's works. Plus, I love a great Naga read. in this book we meet Lyra and Nezzar. He's an alpha and she's an omega who cleverly hides her status with her ability with plants.
Forced into mating, she is soon facing motherhood with his child. These two have much to overcome, with forces that are against them at times.

This is a dark story set in the omega world, where the alpha takes what he wants, the omega, no matter what. With that said the reader should know what kind of world this is. This is the second story in the "Prime Omegaverse" series and is a bit better than the first story. This one follows the journey of Nezzar and Lyra. It is intriguing and interesting with some challenging decisions along with ups, downs and suspense along the way.

This is a good read with a lot of story but not a lot of detail to the steamy scenes. 2 has two appendages, which is great but dont expect alot of detail into the nest scenes.

Also there is a mention of voluntary abortion type activity... just to warn the sensitive readers.

This is a pretty good read.

I really tried to like this book but it just isn’t for me. There is blatant SA which is normalized in this omegaverse which I just cannot condone. Even trying to suspend my aversion to it because of the trope, there just is not enough to redeem the Prime alpha and their choices in books 1 and 2. There is also a lot of repetitive words and phrases in these books.

I couldn't stop reading this. It's hard to find a really good naga romance that doesn't feel like it's trying too hard. There was no overuse of 's' in this male's speech and that was relieving for my dyslexia lol.
