The Behavioral Startup: A step-by-step method to turn your ideas into successful products.

Rate this book
You're an expert in your field. But how do you turn that expertise into a product people actually use?
Most product books assume you're a designer or developer. This one doesn't.

The Behavioral Startup is written specifically for domain experts — doctors, educators, researchers, industry specialists — who have insights that could change lives but need a clear path from idea to product.

What you'll learn:
• How to identify the real behaviors your product needs to change (not just features to build)
• The ANVERSO Models — a step-by-step framework for analyzing actors, needs, value evidence, and behavioral funnels
• How to design an MVP based on behavioral science, not guesswork
• How to test whether your product actually drives the behavior you intended
• How to run a Behavioral Design Sprint with your team

This is not another Design Thinking book.
Unlike Lean Startup (which focuses on speed), Design Sprints (which require intensive workshops), or COM-B (which requires behavioral science expertise), the ANVERSO methodology is designed for people with deep domain knowledge and zero product experience.
★★★★★ "A super practical, step-by-step approach to building products that people actually want." — Verified Purchase
★★★★★ "Worth reading if you're tired of workshops that leave you with sticky notes but no clear next steps."
★★★★★ "I used this methodology first-hand while designing a health app — it truly works."
Whether you're building a healthcare platform, an educational tool, or turning your consulting practice into a scalable product — this book gives you the method. No coding required. No design background needed. Just this book.

Available in Kindle ($5.99) and Paperback ($12.99). Soon available in Spanish.

If you're into methodologies, fast iteration, and truly listening—not just to your team, but to your users—this book is a must.

The Behavioral Startup isn’t just about design, it’s a mindset. It reframes product development through the lens of human behavior, continuous improvement, and intentional strategy. It’s especially powerful for designing complex, multidimensional products that need more than just surface-level thinking.

What resonated with me most? Rule 0: users must always get more value from a product than the effort it takes to use it. Simple. Profound. And yet so often overlooked. That idea alone is a compass for any product team.

Who should read it? I’d recommend it to product designers and product owners who want to build better systems—not just prettier interfaces. It's for those who enjoy reflecting on design deeply, not just following trends.

Bottom line: the book is clear, smart, and actionable. It left me inspired and eager to improve how I design. Wouldn’t change a thing.
