Veronica Ross: Come For Me

Rate this book
A badass who makes no apologies for who she is, Veronica “Roni” Ross fights for what is right and true against all odds. A cop who won’t let crooked cops define her, she refuses to let the bad guys win and will do whatever it takes to destroy them at their own game. She doesn’t suffer fools at all and doesn’t stick around when men try to play with her heart.
She can do bad all by herself.

Except when it comes to one particular man she can’t seem to do without. . .

Billionaire bad boy Braxton McCrae treats women as if they are another one of his commodities that he trades daily on the stock exchange. He can take them or leave them and never wants any of them twice. Although he will never get tied down to anyone, Roni Ross has stolen his heart in such a dynamic way that she is his obsession. But a control freak and a woman who refuses to be boxed-in makes for a combustible pair. They can’t live with each other, nor without each other. But they always have each other’s back.

Unexpected ending but so good.

I really liked this story as it was typical Ms. Mallory but didn’t end as usual. Brax and Roni were a love story unlike love stories we are accustomed to in that they were devoted to each other but not as real lovers. He took care of her in every way but could not fully commit. It left you wondering at the end if they were ever able to bridge the gap. And poor Roni just could not escape tragedy in her position of cop. Strong and stubborn couldn’t help her. I liked this book because in a way it was much better written than recent books, even though it still left you surprised about the nemesis as all the others did. And I liked the length..not to short that I could finish it in a day. I could go with a sequel to this one please.

Unfinished business

This story leaves you wanting more it feels so unfinished. I'm assuming a part 2 may be in the making 🤔?! I can only hope...Roni and Brax are a sweet couple, but their story leaves a lot to be desired. But the one I want to hear from is Brax, brother Scotty. Now there's a fascinating story there waiting to be read. We can only hope.

All that time they let fear rule their relationship!

They had nothing to fear but fear itself. Roni and Brax knew they loved each other since they were kids. Or at least since Veronica grew up. Brax promised her mother on her death bed to stay away from Roni but at the same time she wanted him to look after her and not to baby her. He was the first person Roni called with her New York PD problem. That was the excuse to have her come back home close to him. No other woman could take her place and make him feel the way Roni made him feel. They had this deep understanding and rapport about each other. Roni was his light and sunshine. She loved him just as much as he loved her, but Roni knew he was not marriage material. He was afraid he would hurt her like his father had hurt his mother and if that happened it would destroy him.

I'm just not feeling this happy for now thing. They are only fooling themselves. Mallory knows how to write an attention-grabbing drama. I figured out who was after Brax, but I didn't see the sister coming. It is always those closest to you that are plotting. I want to see more of this couple where they get their HEA and a house full of babies. The brothers sound book worthy too.

Maybe not best!

This is not the best story that I've read by Mallory monroe. Took a while to get into characters, Roni is a selfless individual doesn't need a prop un her life, but she had a connection to Brax a self made billionaire although his family has their own billion, but he started his own wealth outside of his family. Roni mum was Brax nanny, and housemaid to his mum. Roni has harboured resentment to how Brax mum keeps referring to her mother as helper. Brax doesn't understand where Roni is coming from on this as he doesn't see what she says.

Brax is their for Roni when things go south in her police job in New York, she gets herself out of it but promise to leave New York and return to Victorville. Roni got her Detective job with help of Brax, she expected her troubles in NY would not come back but encountered same corrupt cops as in NY, she has another incident to need Brax intervention. Roni and Brax relationship is friends with benefits but they do love each other which is complicated in of itself.

I liked this but I didn’t. You know what I’m saying? The plot line was great I like the historical element of the “black female cop” but I felt like everything she was against she took it from the love interest without batting an eye. And accepting the fact that he will always be a playboy and all you want him to do is try but he won’t. Their romance was some bs. And he was a mama’s boy

Great read. Love this couple.

Love this story. Hope they have a happy ending. Look forward to a possible book 2 follow up. Would love to read more about them and their dynamic. Curious how their relationship evolves over time.

Friends with benefits who love each other and would take a bullet for one another. Another great story from Ms. Mallory.

Good read

It was a good story, well written, but maybe not my cup of tea. I don't like it when breaking the law is made acceptable.
