Mother always warned me about the Fae. I just never thought I’d find one staring back at me in my dreams.
Ivy has always longed for the sea—for the adventures she’s only read about in books. But when the king's assassins come for her one cold, blood-soaked night, she’s forced to flee north—straight into the land of the Fae.
A realm forgotten by time and choked in thorns, where every shadow whispers danger, and every kindness hides a price.
Humans are fair game here. Hunted. Played with. Broken.
And Ivy, with her quiet defiance and untamed spirit, becomes the most tempting prey of all.
Until he finds her.
Tegwyn never needed anyone. Not after what he lost.
Outcast, feared, and more monster than man, he’s content to vanish into obscurity with nothing but his gold and his ship. But when he saves a stubborn human girl from certain death, everything changes.
She’s bold. Reckless. Infuriating. And she may be the only one who can help him escape the curse that binds him to a dying kingdom.
But bargains with Fae are never simple. And hearts—especially his—were never meant to be risked.
As Ivy is drawn deeper into a world of twisted magic, cruel beauty, and ancient war, she’ll have to decide what she’s willing to her freedom, her heart… or her humanity.
Because some bargains bind more than blood. Some love stories are written in thorns.
💚💚 ARC Review: Wicked Creature by Kayleigh Rymer 💚💚
I was lucky—no, blessed—to be chosen as an ARC reader for Wicked Creature!
From the very first chapter, I was completely drawn in. The eerie atmosphere, the creepy witch, and the heartbreaking turn of events for poor Ivy had me hooked right away. One moment she has a peaceful life, and the next, everything is shattered in a single evening.
And let’s talk about the MMC… you will definitely have a love-hate relationship with him. You’ll find yourself loving him one second and absolutely hating him the next—sometimes in the very same line! He makes you want to scream, “Why do you even have to talk?” 😂 But through it all, our sweet yet determined Ivy never gives up on him—and deep down, you can tell he would do anything for her.
A haunting, emotional, and addictive read that will stick with you long after the last page.
The FMC, Ivy, is strong, stubborn, infuriating and yet so easy to root for, while the grumpy MMC is the kind of character you can’t help but fall for despite his rough edges. I’m not entirely sure how someone accidentally ends up saving someone but that’s exactly what kicks things off and it works perfectly.
The story is rich with fairy lore, sprinkled with just the right amount of spice, and balanced by a connection that feels both natural yet guarded. The plot moves at a great pace, both engaging and immersive which makes it impossible to put down.
A few plot points feel a bit open-ended, but since this is the first in a series, that only adds to the anticipation. A fantastic start that promises even more magic, tension, answers and bargains to come!
I received an early copy of this beautifully written book, and reading it felt like pure magic. I really enjoyed Ivy and Tegwyn’s story. It gave me strong Beauty and the Beast vibes with a Fae twist. Ivy was not my favorite character since she came across as a bit impulsive at times, but Tegwyn completely brought the story to life for me. Even when he was unsure about his interactions with Ivy, he still tried to protect her and look out for her. I am excited to read more from this author in the future.
Wicked Creature is a beautifully written book with excellent prose and engaging storytelling. The character and world development are both rich and detailed, pulling you right into the story’s atmosphere. The dual POV format adds depth, allowing readers to truly understand both main characters. The romance unfolds slowly, with a moderate level of spice that feels just right for the first book. The story is captivating, and I’m genuinely excited to see what happens next in the series.
My love for the fae is what drew me to this book. I've never been more excited to fall into a world of magic and romance.
From accidentally saving a live, to the shadows of loss, to love and romance. There is something for every fantasy, romance reader alike to find and enjoy.
There are so many places this series can take us. I can't wait to see where all we'll end up.
*****ARC Reader*****. This book was so good! I was sucked in immediately from the beginning. Very well written and great storyline. I need book two now!
I think what brought this down so far for me is that i didn’t like the MMC. I was really hoping there was going to be a switch-a-roo with the love interest, ideally for the silver eyed raven fae.
