James Tynion and Tiny Onion present the thrilling conclusion to the new TRUE WEIRD series documenting the origins of the Jersey Devil. Unable to prevent his younger brother from entering the monster hunt, Henry follows him into the woods and discovers for himself what truly stalks the Pine Barrens—and why its legend has gripped imaginations for centuries.
Prior to his first professional work, Tynion was a student of Scott Snyder's at Sarah Lawrence College. A few years later, he worked as for Vertigo as Fables editor Shelly Bond's intern. In late 2011, with DC deciding to give Batman (written by Snyder) a back up feature, Tynion was brought in by request of Snyder to script the back ups he had plotted. Tynion would later do the same with the Batman Annual #1, which was also co-plotted by Snyder. Beginning in September 2012, with DC's 0 issue month for the New 52, Tynion will be writing Talon, with art by Guillem March. In early 2013 it was announced that he'd take over writing duties for Red Hood and the Outlaws in April.
Tynion is also currently one of the writers in a rotating team in the weekly Batman Eternal series.
I was SO into this series at first--the creepy vibe, the stunning art, and the way it blends the past and present? Chef's kiss. But now we are on issue 4....and I'm kinda stuck.
It still LOOKS amazing, and the mood is there, but I'm starting to feel like nothing's actually happening. The tension just flatlined. I keep waiting for a big reveal or twist or SOMETHING to kick the story into gear, but it's not coming.
I'm not sure if I'll keep going. I'm hoping the next issue gives me a reason to stay on board.
