The Leo Man

"He's every bit as sexy as his father!"

Her grandmother thought that description would appeal to Rowan, but Rowan was determined to avoid any friendship with the arrogant James Fraser.

Aboard his luxury yacht, that wasn't easy. When they were all shipwrecked on a tropical island, it proved impossible.

And besides, if it weren't for James, none of them would be alive. Rowan was confused. Was it merely gratitude that she now felt for this strong and rugged man?

Rebecca Stratton wrote two books as a Harlequin Presents author. Writing for the Harlequin Romance imprint, she published 43 novels. She also wrote under the name Lucy Gillen. She passed away in 1982.

Biography from Harlequin Romance #2489 The Golden Spaniard

"When one happens to be an unmarried woman of forty-five and apparently fixed for the rest of her working life in a safe and settled job," Rebecca Stratton says of herself, "it is apt to be regarded as bordering on the insane to suddenly give it all up and become a full-time writer."

But that is precisely what British-born and -bred Rebecca did one August day in 1967. Writing had always been her ultimate aim, and she felt that if she didn't make the move right then and there she'd end her days as "one more elderly lady sighing for what might have been."

When Rebecca Stratton's first attempt at a romance novel was accepted, she didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. So she did both. Then she celebrated with friends and relatives. And then sat down to the job of writing more books - and reveled in it!

I enjoyed this story very much. Rowan goes out of her way to avoid any contact with the arrogant, James Fraser. She couldn't seem to because of sailing with him on his yacht, and because most of the crew became shipwrecked on a tropical island together. Eventually, they fall madly in love with each other.

A sexually active grandmother has an affair with a married man when she attends her adult son’s wedding. Later, she meets her lover’s grown-up son and accepts his invitation, on behalf of herself and her granddaughter, to sail on his luxurious yacht. The h feels very uncomfortable with the situation and tries to avoid the H, who finds her reaction to her grandmother’s affairs prudish.

Meanwhile, the h is half-enamored with the hero’s French friend, when Stratton decides to kill the crew and leave only the h, the H, and the OM stranded. The grandmother is eventually saved.

The tone of the story shifts and becomes somewhat sinister, as the OM reveals himself to be a stalkerish psychopath.

Good adventure book but she would make out with both H and OM so that was kind of gross. Loose morals run in the h’a family. .

Excessively dull hero (32), who has sailed around the world a couple of times and can do everything, asks the heroine's grandmother and her on a trip - because the grandmother once had an affair with his dad (when dad was married to the mother) and she and the hero flirt in a weird way. The French grandmother is cliché and irritating and the overtly Scottish hero is likewise. The half-French, Half Scottish heroine (22) acts totally French and is an awful heroine - so dull and lacking in charm. Initially she likes the hero's French friend Rene, but they are ship wrecked and he proves to be useless and she changes to the hero. Both men are manwhores and boring.
I usually quite like Rebecca Stratton stories, but this was vapid and almost one star.
