Mark A. Daniel is a writer of the supernatural thriller genre including the recent release "Crossroads".
Taking the advice of his third-grade teacher to “pursue writing of some kind as a career,” he promptly wrote his first book From Six Feet to Two Inches. It was about 10 pages long. He never looked back.
He has since completed eight novels and two short story collections. Black Mass, Resurrection, The Gifted, Burial Grounds and The Threshold are available today, as are the short stories in Razor’s Edge 1 and Razor’s Edge 2.
Mark lives and writes on a small ranch in rural West Texas, accompanied by his wife of 30 years, a few dogs, several cats, and a varying number of chickens.
If you enjoyed watching Twilight Zone, you will love this short story collection. The stories are full of edge of your seat suspense from start to finish. The characters are well crafted and each story is unique. I found it easy to immerse myself in each story and alternated between holding my breath and gasping for air. Any horror, suspense or thriller reader will definitely need to add Razor's Edge to their must read list of books.
This is the best modern horror anthology I’ve read, certainly in the last 25 years. It provides a brilliant time machine to the 1980s when I guess the author was a boy. His nostalgia for the time and his settling place was beautiful, and he got to the heart of how a lad thinks and feels. I loved all of his young characters but especially the autistic kid. I work with these children every school day and he got it so right. This author understands all of his people.
This is a collection of horror stories that are nostalgic and haunting. The writing is solid and well crafted, with excellent tension and terror.
The book is of its time and has imaginative twists that keep readers guessing. What came out of the mine? The vivid descriptions make this book scream, and the pacing is perfect. The terror feels visceral and the action is immediate. The atmospheric settings take you to a decade that feels so familiar. It was a good time to be young.
The book has psychological depth and classic horror tropes. The collection is well chosen for diversity, so none of the stories feel the same. And the prose is sharp and explores the darkest corners of human vulnerability and fear.
Anthologies are always a hard sell. But this is by far one of the better ones I’ve read. Perfect for busy people to dib in and out of, and ideal for commuters … but don’t scream on the train, eh. That would be so uncool.
After finishing two of his other books, I had to read this one, I LOVE the Twilight Zone and all things weird like that, plus add to it, this is a short story collection ? Freaking Sold.
There is also a part 2, I'm ready its going right into the reading que..
I also really enjoyed that this was not just a thriller centered book, Mark added in horror ( my true passion haha) and i loved it, I hope he writes some more horror, maybe even a full on horror book??
This was creepy , I would recommend this to anyone that likes thrillers, and wants a little horror sprinkled in, and i promise its not extreme, but really really enjoyable.
Listened to the audio version narrated by the author himself! I highly recommend this fast paced book compiled of eight short horror/suspense tales. Phenomenal!
The stories traverse a spectrum of fear-inducing scenarios. The characters are vividly portrayed, allowing readers to immerse themselves in their fears and experiences.
Each story stands as a testament to the artistry of fear, delivering an adrenaline rush that will linger, haunting readers' thoughts long after they've turned the final page.
Amazing horror anthology! This is guaranteed to keep you up late at night reading. I loved each one but think Hunting Grounds might be my favorite story in this collection. They are all pulse pounding and will grab you by the throat. I highly recommend for horror fans.
These 8 short stories by Mark A. Daniel are scary and thrilling. Hard to put the book down, just want to keep reading. The storylines are all in the 1980's and definitely have the creep factor. I love reading e-books at night with the lights out and boys did I get goose bumps! Highly recommend. If you like horror, you will thoroughly enjoy.
