A new chapter is beginning for Becky (Becks) as she embarks on her first year of high school. Making the competitive dance team with her best friend, Trina, catching the eye of her crush, and trying to steer clear of bullying from the upperclassmen proves to be challenging, as her awkward and introverted nature has often worked against Becky. But soon after she is given a four-leaf clover necklace from her grandfather, things begin to shape up; the necklace seems to bring Beck good luck. All of a sudden, opportunities are thrown her way, and it’s like the universe has answered her wishes.

But is the necklace really a good luck charm, or has it given Becks the confidence to go for what she wants?

Lucky Enough by K.A. Wesorick is a charming novel about navigating the challenges of coming of age, including young love, friendships, and self-discovery. Becks is tired of living life behind the scenes and standing on the sidelines; this book highlights her desire to break free of self-defeating thoughts and confront the insecurities that have been holding her back. If you’ve ever felt that self-doubt or insecurity has prevented you from chasing your dreams, like joining a club or asking out your crush, Lucky Enough would be an excellent read.

Written from the first-person perspective, young adult readers follow Becks as she evolves from a shy young girl unsure of herself to a brave teenager who takes risks. It is important to mention she doesn’t get there without some inner struggling, and the author aptly illustrates some of the many lessons young people must learn before they can fully come into their own—overcoming disappointment, setting boundaries, and facing their fears. Readers will be immersed in Becks’ story, resonating with her setbacks and cheering with her through times of joy.

Wesorick’s writing is clean and age-appropriate, exploring relevant issues teens face without becoming too weighty. While the novel takes on a slower pace, the author’s knack for crafting well-developed characters is the book’s greatest strength. K.A. Wesorick’s Lucky Enough will appeal to teen and young adult readers who enjoy stories about high school culture, romance, and strong friendships.

This was such a fun and nostalgic read. I do not usually reach for romance anymore, my books these days tend to feature women who are more likely to be solving crimes or committing them, but this story completely won me over. The love story, especially the way Nate is written, felt exactly like middle school me sitting at home gushing over a crush and rereading my favorite scenes. I was even trying to do laundry while reading on my phone and found myself struggling to focus on anything else because I simply could not stop turning the pages.

This book captured the sweet excitement of young love in a way that felt genuine and heartfelt, and I ended up finishing it in one sitting. It is actually very hard for me to give five-star reviews, but this one was a five-star without a doubt. I would absolutely love to read more work from this author.

Sweet and heartwarming coming of age novel. YA is not my usual genre, but the story kept me invested. I enjoyed reading how Becky navigated school, friendships and her blossoming romance. A must read for any teenage girl, as the message of self belief really resonates. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Reading Lucky Enough was a healing experience for someone who still carries scars from their high school years. This is what I should have had. This is what the adults in my life should have fought to give me. I didn't know what I was missing. I just knew it hurt. Teenagers need good role models, encouragement, caring adults, someone telling them every day they're perfect just the way they are.

I hope Lucky Enough finds its way to teenagers around the world. It's a YA novel I never knew I needed but feel so lucky to have read.

This book has it all: first kisses, safe family life, dance training, self esteem & insecurities, relatable teenage chaos, superstition, strong friendships and respectful boyfriends.

Becky’s first year of high school has all the drama! Dance team dreams, awkward crushes, mean-girl run-ins, and one very mysterious four-leaf clover necklace. Honestly, it felt like watching a teen movie play out on the page, in the best way.

But what really stood out to me was the emotional depth behind the sparkle. Becky’s struggles with confidence, invisibility, and figuring out her place in the world felt like all of us in our teenage phase. It was messy, awkward, and brave all at once. Her journey reminds you it’s okay to stumble, it’s okay to not be okay, and that growth is as much about the setbacks as the wins.

I adored the friendship between Becky and Trina (ride-or-die besties forever), and the little sprinkle of “is it luck or just confidence?” magic kept things fun. This was a fun, curl-up-on-your-couch-and-read kind of feel-good book, and I’d definitely recommend it.

I was lucky enough, to read Lucky Enough, and although not my usual genre, I loved every minute.

Yes, this is a YA novel, but it really is so much more. It’s a journey that so many of us undergo at some point in our lives. Lucky Enough deals with the anxiety, insecurity and doubts that plague so many adolescents as they try to navigate high school and the world, all through the eyes of Becky.

Trying to fit in. Trying to be accepted while steering clear of the bullies, dealing with her introverted personality, navigating a sometimes bumpy friendship with her best friend Trina, and of course, falling in love for the first time, are what she has to face to ultimately become the person she truly wants to be. Confident. Self-assured. A risk-taker.

K.A.Wesorick does such an incredible job of pulling you into the story and makes you feel the angst and the highs and the lows along with Becky. You’re not reading the story, you’re living it.

But the book is not just about dealing with serious issues. There’s a lighter side to it too. This is where Wesorick charms you with a little bit of magic in the form of a four-leaf clover necklace given to Becks by her grandfather. It literally becomes her lucky charm, because believing in its magic is what ultimately triggers her transformation. She begins to believe in herself more and everything snowballs from there.

With a beautiful ending that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy, Lucky Enough is the perfect read for anyone who needs a reminder that they are good enough, that following your dreams is a must, and that getting what you want in life is possible when you believe in yourself.

What a book to leave you sitting there like: Aaaawh.

I am always stunned by how much you can reflect in a YA book, and Lucky Enough is such a beautiful example of that. It captures in such an honest and gentle way what it means to believe in yourself, to be surrounded by the right people, to understand what true friendship looks like, and what love actually means — and how much weight it should really have.

I didn’t expect Lucky Enough to stay with me the way it did. It’s one of those books that keeps popping back into your thoughts long after you close it. I’m always stunned by how much reflection and emotional depth can live inside a YA story, and Wesorick proves that if a book is written with heart, age really doesn’t matter.

I smiled way too often while reading, and my heart ached so many times — not in a bad way, but in that warm, emotional way that only happens when you truly enjoy a story and feel connected to it.

I’ll be honest: my initial thought was that I would mainly focus on whether this is “a book for young adults.” That thought was gone after the first couple of pages. This book is for everyone. No matter the age. There is so much passion, care, self-finding, reflection, and love in these pages that I genuinely believe everyone can take something from it — maybe even more than just one thing.

Thank you, Wesorick, for giving me a little time out and filling my heart with all the unicorn power.

Seems I got lucky finding this book.

Highly recommend. 5 out of 5 stars.

Lucky Enough is a wonderfully charming coming-of-age story that captures the awkward beauty of growing up, filled with first love, dreams, self-doubt, and the courage it takes to grow into yourself.

The protagonist, Rebecca (Becks) is instantly relatable. She starts off shy and uncertain, but as she navigates high school drama, friendships, and personal challenges, her growth feels real and earned. The story handles teenage insecurities, peer pressure, and self-discovery with genuine warmth and honesty.

I loved how the book balances authenticity and hope. With a four-leaf-clover necklace as a symbolic “chance at change,” the novel explores whether confidence comes from external luck or from believing in yourself — a concept that resonates deeply with anyone who’s ever felt invisible or unsure.

The writing is warm, accessible, and grounded. It focuses beautifully on everyday moments — laughter, friendship, quiet self-questioning, and small victories — all things that make Becks’s journey honest and easy to root for.

If you love YA stories about identity, vulnerability, friendship, and the messy beauty of being young — Lucky Enough is a gentle, uplifting, and heartfelt read I’m so glad I found.

The heart of this story shines!
Reading this book felt like picking up the phone and listening to a friend chat about their day—warm, familiar, and comforting. Becks, the main character, is absolutely adorable and relatable. Her inner dialogue reminds us that no matter how we appear on the outside, everyone has insecurities. Even the star soccer player at school—popular, talented, and admired—wrestles with self-doubt.
The story follows Becks as she struggles with confidence until her grandpa gifts her a “lucky” necklace. Suddenly, doors begin to open for her—but is it really the necklace, or something more? Will Becks discover the magic behind her charm?

Along the way, readers are reminded that love and happiness don’t have to be earned, and that sometimes placing our trust in something outside ourselves—a lucky charm, a loving family member, or a good friend—can help us discover our full potential.

Readers who enjoyed The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen will likely enjoy Becky’s journey, too.

This book was such a heartfelt and inspiring read! Becks is a character so many of us can see ourselves in navigating the ups and downs of high school, friendship drama, and the uncertainty of first crushes. Her journey from feeling invisible to discovering her inner strength and confidence had me rooting for her every step of the way.

I especially loved the bond she shares with Trina and how their friendship highlights both the challenges and joys of growing up. The dance team storyline added such a fun and motivating layer, while the four-leaf clover necklace brought a touch of magic that tied everything together beautifully.

This is the kind of story that reminds you of the importance of believing in yourself, even when it feels hardest. It’s sweet, uplifting, and filled with moments that made me smile, cheer, and even get a little emotional. A perfect read for anyone who enjoys heartfelt YA stories about resilience, friendship, and chasing your dreams.

Heartwarming and Totally Relatable
Becky’s journey hit me right in the feels. Her struggle with confidence and feeling invisible in high school felt so real, and I loved how the story didn’t shy away from the emotional ups and downs of growing up. The friendship between Becky and Trina was one of my favorite parts supportive, honest, and full of heart. The four leaf clover was such a sweet and symbolic touch. A great coming of age story for teens (and adults who remember those awkward years)!

As a high school teacher, I really enjoyed this book and will be adding it to my classroom library. I love how this book explores common teen issues like self-doubt, friendship, and the pressures encountered in and around the social circles.
This is a wonderful exploration of coming of age and hopefulness. I found it not only relatable to my own teen years (which were a really long time ago), but exceedingly relevant for today’s teens.

I gave it 4 stars only because I really wanted it to be longer. Nonetheless, it’s an excellent read.

Heartfelt and emotional…

A heartfelt, emotional read that found me at exactly the right time. It's a reminder that luck isn’t always about chance, but about perseverance, timing, and the strength to keep moving forward when life doesn't go as planned. This story stayed with me long after I finished, not just for the shock value, but for its honesty.

Wesorick delivers a heartfelt coming-of-age tale that captures the awkward, tender, and transformative early days of high school in her compelling YA drama. Becky “Becks” has always felt like she’s on the margins, hoping for a chance to be seen. With her fearless best friend Trina by her side, she sets her sights on the competitive dance team while secretly wishing her longtime crush, Nate, will finally notice her. When her grandfather gives her a four-leaf clover necklace, luck seems to finally be on her side. Is it magic, or simply the courage she’s had all along?

Wesorick captures the small but defining rhythms of adolescence—bus rides, shifting friendships, and the subtle strength of family ties. Rather than drama, the novel draws its force from lived-in detail and the quiet intensity of ordinary moments. Becks’ insecurities feel relevant, and her gradual step toward confidence makes her both endearing and unforgettable. Warm, lighthearted, and fun, the novel makes for a relatable portrait of resilience, friendship, and the quiet strength it takes to believe in yourself. A gem for readers who love character-driven stories about friendship, resilience, and self-discovery.
