Beth was raised as a responsible member of human society. Then she meets Alec, a mysterious stranger, who knows by her scent that she is a rare Luna, the only being who can ensure the future of his wolf-pack. When human beings injure Alec, Beth retreats from the safety of her human world and surrenders her fate to the wolf-man. Beth's and Alec's love for one another ignites the power of the Luna that courses through her veins, and she must learn the laws of being wild wolf if she is to live with Alec and his pack. She must learn to harness the consuming power of her Luna and use it to safeguard her new family, even if it means giving up the very thing she was born to protect. Set in the countryside of Maine, this novel unfolds as Beth surrenders her body to its absolute essence while she is protected by the loyal wolves she is destined to love. But their world is not only precious, it is also perilous, and her freshened passion for life just may be the catalyst for her death.
S.C. Dane currently lives in Wyoming on a working cattle ranch. When she’s not riding horses on the range, she’s immersed in her second passion: writing. She loves traveling, too, and isn’t sure what adventures her next move will find for her. You can get to know a little more about the author on her website scdane.com
A wonderful trip into the woods of Maine with amazing wolf-human hybrids. The descriptions of nature and wilderness are beautiful. The characters are a wonderful mix of animalistic yet romantic and tender. From someone who doesn't always reach for romance first, this book offers an interesting and thoughtful narrative full of action.
When we first meet Beth, she is a regular girl, a little quirky, even odd, acquainting us with her love of the alders and the wooded areas. Before we know it, Beth encounters a man she is attracted to, but there's more--he's a wolf-man, a man whose natural ability is to shift into the presence of a wolf. The two become a pair, and are soon met by a sinister starnger that hunts them..why? We soon find out why as we learn there is something about Beth that neither she, nor the reader has known: she is a Luna, an ancient breed of woman known to birth the shifting human/wolf into existence. As a result, her identity becomes vital to the shifter world of wolves and the man (Alec's) pack. She soon falls in love with him, and SC Dane leads us on a journey led by the two of them that does not stop until the final page. Dane's characters are rich, lively, and unforgettable as they literally jump from the page. Her writing style is also a page turner for us, reminiscent in the style of Anne Rice with her prose and steaming sexuality of her characters. Soon, Dane introduces us to the vast array of characters that make up Alec's pack. They are a variety of good, bad, evil, beautiful, and jealous, as Dane's characters are crafted to perfection! Dane also shares with us her rich knowledge of wolves that has been well documented for this story. For anyone with a love of wolves, shifters, or just suspense, SC Dane is a must. I cannot wait for the sequel, due out in November. This book is unforgettable!
