You Stand in Grace is unlike anything I’ve seen before. It occupies a truly unique space somewhere between “devotional” and “Bible study workbook.” This book is formatted like the latter (and gorgeously so! I was impressed with the design). It’s packaged into eight weeks, with five days of reading each week. But rather than observation and interpretation questions intended to help you dig in and study the passage, each day features a meditation from Abi on the passage, followed by three questions oriented more toward application and reflection.
So it’s mostly a devotional—but one that asks more of you than a quick surface reading. Abi invites you to slow down and really consider the truths she is sharing.
Another thing that sets this apart from most devotionals is that it doesn’t take a scattershot approach to Scripture, but rather a journey through most of a single book. Abi offers relatable stories from her own life, but she does so in service of the text itself, seeking to clearly explain and apply the main point of each passage. She doesn’t cover every verse of Romans, but overall, this devotional is tightly tied to Scripture and its themes—which feels like a refreshing change compared to devotionals that use the text more like a springboard for topical entries.
I was also challenged by the way the book consistently urges the reader to think about evangelism and how she could share the truths she’s learning and praying through.
I have long appreciated Abi’s Bible teaching, so I’m glad to celebrate this first book from her. She’s a trusted and winsome guide who will help you meditate with both your mind and your heart on the rich book of Romans.

You Stand in Grace is a blend of a women’s bible study and a devotional walk through the book of Romans that aids us in our daily walk. It is designed to cover eight weeks and reminds us to lean on God’s grace and guidance.
Women hold so much on their shoulders, the wellbeing of their families, their careers or outside jobs, participating in church functions, etc. And while we juggle everything and try our best to keep everything afloat, we sometimes forget to lean on God. He, ultimately, is who keeps up buoyant.
I love the practical structure of this study, including scripture verses, brief readings, thought-provoking questions, and a “Consider” section at the end of each chapter with lined spaces for us to write our thoughts. What a wonderful opportunity to spend time in worship and to be reminded that we stand in God’s grace!
First Line (Introduction): Romans has been changing lives for centuries.
Series: Gospel Truth for Women
Genre: Devotional, Bible Study
Author: Abi Byrd

You Stand in Grace by Abi Byrd has been such a gift in my morning rhythm. As a busy mom, I love that each devotional is short enough to read before my little ones get up but rich enough to truly meet me where I am spiritually.
This book has gently challenged me to repent, to humble myself before the Lord, and to remember that His grace is enough in every area of my life — motherhood, marriage, ministry, and even my own weaknesses. It’s also reminded me to extend grace to others, even when I don’t feel like it, and to stay rooted in the truth that we all stand on a foundation of God’s mercy and love.
I’ve found myself more grateful, more aware of God’s kindness, and more intentional about offering grace to those around me. I’m thankful for this devotional and for the way God has used it to draw my heart closer to Him.
