Witness: Missional Devotions from the Book of Acts

Rate this book
The same God who turned the world upside down two thousand years ago is still changing lives and communities today.

Because the media doesn’t report the spread of the good news across town and around the globe, it’s easy for Christians to be unaware of the incredible work God is actively doing today. The gospel continues to spread and transform lives across cultures and contexts today, just as it did in the early church. In this sixty-day devotional, Darren Carlson shares the stories of modern-day Christians and draws parallels to the experiences of first-century Christians in the book of Acts, giving readers a virtual world tour of God’s work both near and far.

As readers dive into the book of Acts, they will be challenged to look for ways God wants them to grow as his ambassadors and develop a deeper appreciation of the unity and diversity of the global Church. Each day’s devotion includes a passage from Acts, a reflection on its significance, and a modern-day story that connects the biblical text to contemporary experiences.

Learn to pray for the global church, engage in your local community, and consider your role in God’s mission.Expand your expectations for what God can do and engage more actively with the worldwide Christian community. Can be used by individuals, families, small groups, and entire churches.

Witness is a unique devotional that blends Bible exposition, personal experience, and church history (modern and ancient), which encourages and challenges the reader in his or her own walk with Christ. As Darren Carlson walks through the book of Acts, he explains key passages and highlights their enduring relevance for modern believers. Part of the connection to the modern day comes by sharing his own experience or the experiences of those he's met traveling the world. Each devotional ends with direction for extended reflections. Each devotional provides an encourage and challenge to engage in Christ's mission in the world. Note: I received a free copy in exchange for an unbiased review.

Witness puts you in a great mindset and lights a fire to worship and nurture our relationship with Christ and to be encouraged that God is still working through us just as He did the early church in the book of Acts.

In this 60-day book of devotions, each day offers a scripture passage, a brief reading concerning biblical times, how these things apply to us today, and concludes with a moment of reflection, encouraging us to focus on what we’ve read and pray for guidance and inspiration from God.

This book is a gentle way to boost our faith, worship God, and be encouraged that He is doing the same wondrous works today as He did in biblical times.
