3.5🌟, 2🌶️

If you love small towns, soft romance, and a little bit of magic, this one delivers.

This was my first book by this author, and I quite enjoyed the cozy fall vibes, fake marriage trope, and the emotional pull of Noah and Willow’s agreement to save Lilyvale. Willow’s quiet, long-held feelings added depth from the start and made the setup feel heartfelt rather than purely convenient.

The transition from pretend to real is where the story truly shines. The forced proximity, small-town support, and all the “she’s my wife” moments were genuinely swoony, while the unexpected paranormal element, completely out of my comfort zone, turned out to be a charming surprise that added extra personality. Watching them slowly choose each other felt warm, comforting, and thoroughly satisfying.

A few things held it back from being a full hit for me. The spice did not quite work and sometimes felt out of character, pulling me out of the story. Still, the emotional payoff and cozy atmosphere made this a satisfying, feel-good read.

It was not perfect for me, but it still left me smiling and emotionally full.

Okay I had way too much fun with this. Bella Rivers dropped me into a cozy little Vermont town and now I suddenly want to pack a bag,
and drink maple lattes while eavesdropping on small town gossip.

Willow and Noah..Lawd have mercy. Older than 25 (bless), actual adults with actual adult chemistry. And the chemistry is good. The banter? Even better. The tension? I was kicking my feet.

Marriage of convenience plus a surprise Vegas elopement, plus Noah saying “my wife” every chance he gets..delicious. The found family vibes were so sweet too, and the forced proximity had me grinning like an idiot. the way he carried her to bed every night was SO CUTE.

I loved that Willow has been pining for this man since high school. She falls first. I’m usually a he falls first girlie, but he swoons back, and it all just works. The writing is beautiful without being overly flowery, and the whole storyline is so addicting I finished it in basically one sitting.

The side characters were likable, even the little ghosties. And Griff has me crazy intrigued, I’m hoping she does his story next.

If you love small town romance, actual grown characters, A+ banter, and that delicious married in Vegas for convenience chaos, this book is so worth devouring. Bella Rivers might be new to me, but I’m definitely sticking around for whatever she writes next (and eating up what she’s already gifted us ASAP).

Huge thank you to Bella Rivers and Hambright for this delicious ARC! ❤️

What to expect:

❤️ small town romance
❤️ marriage of convenience
❤️ Vegas elopement
❤️ forced proximity
❤️ found family
❤️ MCs over 25
❤️ banter and tension

How to Fake a Husband is exactly the kind of warm, feel-good small-town romance that makes you want to curl up with a blanket, a hot drink, and stay up far too late reading “just one more chapter.” Bella Rivers brings Emerald Creek to life with her trademark charm, weaving together a steamy, cozy, and delightfully trope-filled story that hits all the right beats.

Set in a picturesque Vermont town straight out of a postcard, this book captures everything readers love about fake-marriage romances — forced proximity, smoldering tension, and the slow realization that pretending might not feel so fake after all. The chemistry between the main characters is immediate yet tender, balancing heat with heart in a way that makes their relationship incredibly easy to root for.

What makes this installment especially enjoyable is the sense of community threaded throughout the plot. Emerald Creek feels like home, and the familiar faces, small-town routines, and sweet local moments give the story its cozy backbone, even as the romance turns undeniably steamy.

Overall, How to Fake a Husband is a comforting, low-stress escape — fun, flirtatious, and filled with the kind of warmth that makes small-town romances so irresistible. A perfect weekend read for anyone who loves fake marriage antics, charming settings, and a guaranteed happy ending.

I completely devoured this book. From the very first page, I was swept into Willow and Noah’s world. Their fake marriage arrangement hooked me immediately, and the way their relationship slowly evolved from a practical agreement to something deeply real had me smiling, and swooning all at once. Willow was kind, brave, and so genuine in her connections with everyone around her. Watching her navigate marrying Noah to save her town while trying to keep her own feelings in check was both hilarious and heart-wrenching. Noah, on the other hand, was the perfect mix of protective, patient, and swoon-worthy, with just enough dirty talk to keep things spicy. I loved every quiet moment between them. The pacing was perfect. The story moved quickly enough to stay completely gripping, but slow enough to savor all the little emotional beats that made me care so much about these characters. By the time I finished, I wanted to stay in Emerald Creek forever. I loved all Bella River's books and this was not exception. Thank you so much to the author for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free and I'm leaving an honest review.

How to Fake a Husband by Bella Rivers

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

How to Fake a Husband is the exact kind of small-town, slow-burn, fake-marriage chaos that reminds you why romance is fun in the first place. Bella Rivers delivers a story that’s equal parts swoony, hilarious, and emotionally satisfying — with characters you actually root for and chemistry that never lets up.

The banter? Sharp.
The tension? Delicious.
The fake marriage forced proximity? PEAK ROMANCE.

The main couple has that perfect mix of “we shouldn’t do this” and “we absolutely are doing this,” and watching their dynamic shift from reluctant partners to something real was addictive. The plot moves quickly, but still gives enough depth to make the emotional moments hit right where they should. I devoured this book in one sitting and caught myself smiling like an idiot more times than I want to admit.

If you love:
✨ fake marriage/fake husband trope
✨ small-town gossip energy
✨ slow-burn with spicy payoff
✨ lovable side characters
✨ rom-com vibes with real heart

…then this book should absolutely be on your TBR. Bella Rivers knocked it out of the park.

Fake But Not So Fake
Returning to Emerald Creek with all its citizens, young and old, and all the shenanigans of meddling friends and family, is like an wonderful gift. And reading about another couple finding each other through misunderstanding, misconceptions and scared hearts is just the way to spend some highly enjoyable hours. Lots of humorous situations, relatable characters, friends who will have your back at all times. Even the family ghosts do their best to have the right outcome! Highly recommended.

This was such a fun small town romance !

Not only does it give found family but it also has paranormal aspects which I thoroughly enjoyed.

If you love a steamy slow burn where its taking every ounce of control to stop touching eachother and forced proximity then look no further. This book had me laughing and feeling touched at the same time.

Noah has been her crush since shes been a little girl but hes never batted an eye her way. He has been quite oblivious until one day he asks her to help him out and marry him. (not for love obviously) I mean how hard could it be to not let feelings get in the way?

fav quotes :

He pretends to clean his glasses. "Should we choose a safe word?" Right then, Lane barges into the office and turns crimson as she hears Noah's last words. Her mouth drops open. "Oopsie, I did not hear that," she mumbles as she retreats.

He stops and wraps me tightly in his arms. His heart beats loudly in his chest when he talks. "There's more to life than a legacy. There's more than passing things on to the next generation. There's baring your soul to another. There's feeling like you're jumping off a cliff and you're not sure the water is deep enough where you're landing, but what the hell, if I'm jumping I'm holding your hand. There's realizing the best part of the day is seeing my wife's lovely eyes open when I bring her coffee in bed. There's adopting stray dogs, and making love on a staircase, and a million little things that will be forgotten when we return to ashes, but that will have made my life meaningful. This time with you is giving my life meaning."

"Twelve years in the business, I could teach you a trick or two, woman to woman, if that's what you think you need. Men are idiots, you know-no offense," she says to the men at the table "they think women over thirty are old, but did you know that your gag reflex diminishes with age and practice?"

How to Fake a Husband was such a fun, addicting read! Bella Rivers had the perfect mix of humor, chemistry, and heartfelt moments that kept me hooked from the very first chapter. The fake-marriage trope is done so well here! It was very light, charming, and full of swoony tension.

I loved the dynamic between the main characters. Their banter felt natural, their connection built beautifully, and watching their “pretend” relationship blur into something real was so satisfying. The pacing was fast (in the best way), and it was one of those books you pick up just to read a chapter and suddenly realize you’re halfway through.

If you want a romantic, feel-good story with laughs, lovable characters, and that perfect dash of drama, this book is definitely worth the read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ & 🌶️🌶️.5

I absolutely loved every second of this book. It was adorably fun, wildly entertaining, heartwarming, and just the right amount of devilishly spicy.

The characters are the true standouts. Noah the Seventh and Weeping Willow are officially living rent free in my heart forever. They are soulmates in the purest sense. Noah’s sexy nerd energy was everything, and Willow’s depth and soft-hearted nature complemented him perfectly. Together, they were magic.

The author did a phenomenal job with the story itself. From the irresistible small-town charm to the delightfully quirky ghostly residents, I was completely hooked. I laughed, squealed, and may have teared up from sheer joy more than once.

This book was pure comfort, fun, and romance wrapped into one irresistible package. I cannot recommend it enough.

I really enjoyed this book! Thank you so much Hambright PR and the Author for sending me this ARC!

Noah and Willow have secretly had crushes on each other since they were kids.

Because of a family legality, in order for Noah to have his inheritance he needs to be married.

He finds no better person than Willow, of course they sign an agreement that is only fake and they will dissolve the marriage shortly after, they sign a prenup, and they elope to Vegas.

Little do they know that neither of them have enough willpower to resist the temptation of their desires. Eventually, they fall in love while learning from each other.

Delightful:
I adored this book and thought that it made an awesome addition to what has already been an incredible series. I just love this small town with its quirky residents and crazy shenanigans. Add in an adorable fake/not-fake relationship and it's like a match made in heaven.
Noah and Willow were perfect together and I loved that they had challenges and issues to overcome, yet were so kind and loving to one another.
I am glad that the stories have now shifted to Noah and his siblings. It sounds like we are going to be in for a treat with the next book! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A fake marriage to save the town, force proximity in a gorgeous 16 bedroom home, a small town in Vermont run by the legacies of their founders…
And there are puppies!
There is a whole lot to impact here!

Noah is the heir to the Calloway Legacy - meaning the Lily Vale mansion home that should be on a historical registry, the store in town, and all the land included. When his lawyer notifies him that his 32nd birthday is approaching, and he still isn’t married…the trust ensures everything will go to his evil step mother.
And we hate her guys.
Desperate measures, mean, desperate decisions. He finds a girl to marry, but not just any girl, the only girl that loves Lily Vail, more than him.
Willow. The same girl who has been in love with Noah Caloway forever.
The same girl who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks and had a sex worker for a mom.
When Noah gives her his proposition, at first, she says no, because the thought of faking a love she has always dreamed of is too heartbreaking to grasp.
But losing Lily, Vail, and her town being turned into a chain store nightmare is worse.
So after a trip to Vegas, and an impromptu Phish concert, which has Noah reeling with emotions they’re married.
But lines can be easily blurred and crossed when you were crushing on the personnel along.
Especially if the woman checks all your boxes on the perfect wife and even passes the ghost test.
Does this book fall into the paranormal romance? No, but it has some paranormal aspects you’ll love.
With an evil stepmother planning to ruin their charming town and Noah and Willow working hand-in-hand to save it, this read is an easy nine out of 10 for me and an easy for star.
Bella is small Vermont town she created with its charming feel, fiercely, loyal, friendships, and deeply rooted history created a really good story here.
Emphasis on family histories and how they came to resolve. It’s all very sweet and creative and I really loved that. As well as the absolute plot twist, she throws at you with her little ghost character
You won’t see it coming and that’s the best part.

How to Fake a Husband was such a fun, addicting read—one of those rom-coms that immediately pulls you in with its charm and refuses to let go. Bella Rivers delivers the perfect blend of humor, chemistry, and heartfelt emotion, crafting a story that feels both comforting and irresistibly bingeable. From the very first chapter, I knew I was in for a treat.

What really shines here is the fake marriage trope, which is handled with so much warmth and playfulness. It never feels overdone or cheesy—just delightfully entertaining with the right amount of slow-burn tension. The setup is clever, the stakes feel real, and the emotional payoff is incredibly satisfying.

The dynamic between the main characters was everything I wanted. Their banter is sharp, funny, and full of personality, but it’s their quieter moments that really made me swoon. You can feel the shift from “pretend” to “oh no, this is actually real,” and watching them navigate that line is half the magic of this book. Their connection grows naturally, with little details and sweet interactions that make you root for them from the start.

The pacing is fast in the best way—every chapter holds something that keeps you flipping pages. It’s the kind of story where you sit down meaning to read just one scene…and suddenly you look up and you’re halfway through the book. It’s light yet engaging, romantic but still sprinkled with just enough drama to keep things interesting.

If you’re in the mood for a feel-good romance with lovable characters, sharp wit, and that deliciously swoony tension that fake-marriage stories are made for, How to Fake a Husband absolutely deserves a spot on your TBR. Bella Rivers nailed the vibe perfectly, delivering a warm and joyful rom-com that will leave you grinning long after you finish. 💕📚

How to Fake a Husband is the kind of small-town romance that pulls you in gently and then refuses to let you go. Set in cozy, picturesque Emerald Creek, this story blends emotional vulnerability, unspoken longing, and quiet devotion into a marriage-of-convenience that feels anything but convenient for the heroine.

The heart of this book lies in the relationship between the two leads.
Our heroine enters the story with two rules: she’ll never get married, and Emerald Creek will always be her safe haven. But when Noah Callaway — the town’s loyal, quietly noble heir — proposes a marriage of necessity to save his estate and the community itself, those rules begin to crumble.

What follows is a tender, aching exploration of what it means to pretend you’re someone’s partner when your heart already knows the truth. I loved watching her step into the role of “Mrs. Callaway” with more sincerity and emotional depth than Noah ever expected. Their chemistry builds slowly, delicately — the kind of simmering connection that asks, “Is this still pretend?” long before either of them is ready to answer honestly.

Noah is a standout hero: gentle, rooted, and completely unaware of how deeply he feels until the realization hits with full force. And Emerald Creek shines just as brightly — warm, tight-knit, and alive with the kind of small-town loyalty that shapes every decision.

This book delivers everything I look for in a comfort romance:
• A heartfelt fake-marriage setup
• Lush small-town atmosphere
• A heroine with quiet resilience
• A soft, steadfast hero
• Slow-burn emotion with just the right amount of heat

Tender, cozy, and emotionally layered, this is a beautifully told addition to the Emerald Creek series and a perfect choice for readers who love small-town stories with heart and heat.

I recieved this book as an ARC from the author and everything that follows is my honest opinion of the book How To Fake A Husband

Initially I had started this book and had a hard time following it but I think that was more my own fault so I left it and restarted it about a week later and I am happy to find I really liked the book as a whole however I did find that some of the story was or felt like it was missing information...to me reading this book felt like reading the longest Novella ever and here's why, it felt like we were given information to push the story along, but it also felt like we weren't given all the back story to make it feel like a full book but more something you put together to get a book going so it can reach its end without it being jumbled or too confusing, so just enough info to be passable if this were a Novella but not enough to justify the full novel. Also one theme of the books pertains to the supernatural which I'm fine with but wasn't even introduced til 50% of the way through the book and then only a few times more throughout the remaining 50% and given that the supernatural aspect was a plot point it didn't feel fully fleshed out and I wish it had been because Noah (mmc) mentions them putting Willow (fmc) and his ex through a test which the ex failed...but it's so vague and I think it needed more detailing on that. Also the spicier themes were pretty nice and didn't feel overwhelming but leading up to them finally confessing feelings it felt wrong to have him mention how hot she mad him...this was supposed to be love not lust but the parts after the confessions were very very nice and again not over the top or unbelievable. I really did like book 5 just feel it needs a little more information on certain points and switching scenes needs to be a bit more purposeful and not so random.

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 (rounded up for rating)
Spice: 🌶️🌶️.5/5

This was my first book by Bella Rivers and I really enjoyed this small town romance with all the cozy fall vibes! I haven’t read the other stories in this series, but didn’t feel adrift and enjoyed getting to know all the characters!

💍Fake Marriage
🏡Small Town
💖She Falls First
🛏️Forced Proximity
🔥“My Wife”
❤️Secret Pining
🐶Rescue Puppies
🍂All The Cozy Fall Vibes

What starts off as a practical arrangement to save his legacy and his town, quickly changes for Noah with every single stolen glance, shared joke and heated moment. The tension is just begging to snap since Willow hasn’t been faking (not that Noah knows that). Well, turns out the nosy neighbors aren’t fooled, and the town of Emerald Creek is ready for Noah and Willow to acknowledge that what they have is a gift.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between Willow and Noah. Willow is strong because she’s always had to be, struggles to be vulnerable, and has been secretly in love with Noah for as long as she can remember. Noah has been given responsibility from a young age, worries about his family and always puts their needs first, and was oblivious to Willow’s true feelings. Watching their relationship unfold was easy, believable and it gave me all the warm and fuzzies when things turned real. The spice was enjoyable — I love a man who only curses in the bedroom 😏 AND Noah’s glasses? I’m not saying he had sl*tty glasses, but I’m also not not saying he had sl*tty glasses 👀🔥

If you love sweet and steamy read full of small-town charm, pick this one up!

✨Book 5 in the Emerald Creek Series, How to Fake a Husband can be read as a standalone. Out now on KU!✨

I really enjoyed the story overall, it had all the vibes I love: small town, fake marriage, forced proximity, and unexpectedly ghosts.

Willow and Noah make an agreement to get fake married so he won’t lose Lilyvale, his family’s estate. There’s a hiccup though because Willow has been in love with Noah and he’s oblivious. From there they develop a real relationship and they work together with the town to save Lilyvale.

It is a tiny bit insta-love-ish from Noah but it’s not too bad because it’s understood they’ve known one another for a very long time. The characters are fun to read together and their romance is very sweet. The side characters, especially Lane, were fun to read about as well and I enjoyed their relationships with Noah and Willow.

I did not expect this to have a paranormal element, but I really enjoyed it. The ghosts were a fun little side quest in the story and I liked how they were portrayed as looking over the estate. There’s even a chapter from their POV that was cute.

I’m also happy to say the epilogue was not the standard one and I enjoyed it, but if you’re like me and this is the only book in the series you’ve read the last couple pages won’t make all that much sense because I had no frame of reference for who Jules was and she was mentioned out of nowhere. At least I assume she’s mentioned somewhere else, since the characters seems to have a history with her.

I really didn’t like the spice though, the way Noah talked didn’t feel true to his character and also it was a bit weirdly phrased sometimes. I also really need to never read the word butthole again mid spice scene. I skimmed them after the first one it just was not for me.

Overall, in terms of the story, I flew thru it and I really enjoyed it!

This story begins with Willow and Noah stepping into a fake marriage just to protect their family legacy and small town roots. They decide it’s just business and strictly temporary, but destiny obviously had other plans. The way their relationship shifts from polite strangers to two people genuinely fighting for each other… it’s honestly magical.
I adored how naturally real feelings start to bloom. Every stolen glance, the soft touches, the unspoken care - ufff it felt like slow burn perfection. Their chemistry is like sparkles in the air, so addictive. Noah is a total dream man, the perfect mix of protective, soft and strong, and Willow is such a beautiful soul with her quiet strength and artistic heart.
I was smiling like a complete idiot during their cute moments, literally kicking my feet during the jealous scenes, and then tearing up during the emotional parts. The public confession, the court scene tension, the whole town supporting them, and that real wedding moment - goosebumps everywhere. It felt healing, warm and so full of love.
It’s one of those books that feels like holding a warm cup of coffee on a cozy morning. A soft and comforting love story that stays with you even after finishing.
If you want a romance that feels gentle, real and heart-squeezing in the best way, pick this up asap
Loved every second.

This book first grabbed my attention with the fake-marriage (I will never not love it) – but it kept my attention with the small-town charm, slow burn, and MMC wearing glasses. This was my first book by author Bella Rivers and it will certainly not be my last. How to Fake a Husband is book #5 in the Emerald Creek series but I had no problem reading it as a standalone. (But I will be going back and reading the first 4!!)

Noah, our MMC, needs a wife to save his estate, and ultimately, the town. Willow, our FMC, never ever wants to get married but she’ll do anything to save the town she loves. Once these two characters are in the same room, the chemistry just never lets up. It is a slow burn, but it was done so well and each page left me wanting more. There is enough depth to keep me invested in the story, but the timeline still moves quick enough that we don’t get stagnant.

I’m typically a fan of “he falls first” but Willow has been pining for this man since high school and with him swooning back? It just works. The banter is sharp, the tension is real, and there was no shortage of laughing or feet kicking while turning these pages.

The siblings, friends, and townsfolk were all perfect additions to this story. Even the family ghosts are up to some meddling to push this story towards a happy ending. Throw in some rescue puppies and I don’t know how it could get any better.

If you enjoy fake marriage, small-town charm with some gossip, forced proximity, and “my wife” moments sprinkled throughout, this one NEEDS to be on your tbr!! Thank you to Hambright PR and author Bella Rivers for the opportunity to read this eARC! All opinions are my own.

Hot cocoa, fake vows & Vermont heat 💍

4 ⭐️ | 3 🌶️

How to Fake a Husband is my first Bella Rivers read and it was a cosy, steamy welcome into Emerald Creek. Book five in the series (but totally works as a standalone), this one delivers a classic fake marriage setup wrapped in small-town charm, secret pining, and enough forced proximity to keep things deliciously tense.

Willow is sunshine personified: warm, loyal, and all heart. She’s the kind of FMC you want to protect and root for, even as she agrees (not without pushing back) to a marriage of convenience with Noah Callaway, Emerald Creek’s golden heir. Noah needs a wife before his 32nd birthday to secure his inheritance and save both his family home and the town, and Willow is the answer… even if it breaks her heart to be seen as a transaction. Their relationship is soft, fluffy, and emotionally charged, with plenty of “my wife” moments and simmering chemistry. That said, some parts of the story felt a little rushed, and a late conflict involving family dynamics came out of left field for me, making the pacing wobble slightly.

Still, this book knows exactly what it wants to be: comforting, romantic, and just spicy enough. The tropes are familiar, but they work, like curling up with a mug of hot cocoa topped with whipped cream and mini marshmallows. Sweet, indulgent, and satisfying, even if you’ve tasted something similar before.

✨ Fake marriage | Small town | Forced proximity | Secret pining | Rescue puppies

Thank you to Hambright PR for sending me the e-ARC, and congratulations to Bella Rivers on her upcoming release (December 15th)!

A small town romance, with a golden retriever, over protective MMC and his fake wife who has actually been in love with him for years. This was my first book by this author and I loved it so much. I definitely need to check out the other books in the series, I need more of Emerald Creek and its wonderful inhabitants.

Noah Callaway runs the local store, whilst trying to manage his siblings. He took care of them when their mother died and his father lost all interest. Now his stepmother is threatening to take away the whole estate unless he’s married by his next birthday. Enter Willow Fontaine, someone who lives and breathes Emerald Creek, but considered from the wrong side of the tracks. They agree on terms and head for a Vegas wedding (my wife and I did that, nothing wrong with that, although ours wasn’t fake at any time)

I loved watching Noah slowly fall in love with Willow. He started seeing the smaller things that he’d previously missed, little things like bringing her coffee in the mornings, making sure she had the bed even when she insisted on going to bed first and taking the couch. Of course, Willow has been crushing on him for years so her fall was much faster.

The chemistry between them once they admitted there was no fake in their marriage was sizzling and I loved the magical element of the meddling ancestors. There’s nothing like family protecting their own and Gail deserved everything she got.

I can’t wait to see how Noah’s siblings fare, I loved all of them. Especially how they banded together to tackle problems, despite past issues between them.

How to Fake a Husband by Bella Rivers
Emerald Creek series book 5

Interconnected standalones
Dual POV, marriage of convenience, found family, small town, forced proximity, slow burn, FMC who doesn't believe in marriage, pining, it's always been him, my wife, cinnamon roll MMC, spicy, he's a dirty talker, rescue puppies(!), meddling ghosts, family drama (step mom trying to get estate to sell it off), no third act breakup!

Noah needs a wife as a requirement for his family's trust. Willow has always had her eyes on him, but men and marriage have proven to be unreliable in her life. But to save the town as they know it, Willow agrees to marry him and vows to keep her feelings under control. But the more time they spend together, the more their feelings grow. Can they be honest with each other and prove their marriage is real to thwart the evil stepmother?

This was such a cute story! Noah and Willow together had such great chemistry and it was so fun to watch them fall! Oh the feet kicking I did when Noah decided to go for it. OMG. SO GOOD! The side characters were also delightful. There was found family not only in Willow being pulled into Noah's family, but also with their friends! Some of which I'm sure were the earlier books in this series that I need to go back and read now!

I tore through How to Fake a Husband and loved every second of it. Willow and Noah pulled me into Emerald Creek right away, and their fake marriage setup was the perfect mix of charm, heat, and small-town chaos. Willow’s kindness and determination made her easy to cheer for, especially as she tried to keep her feelings in check while helping Noah. Noah is protective, patient, and quietly irresistible, and their chemistry grows in a way that feels both funny and heartfelt.

The Vermont setting feels warm and inviting, filled with familiar faces and a sense of community that makes the story feel cozy even when things get steamy. The found family moments add depth, and the light paranormal touches were an unexpected bonus. The slow burn is steamy, the tension builds in all the right places, and watching these two shift from practical partners to something real is incredibly satisfying.

Willow has had a crush on Noah since she was young, though he never noticed until the day he asked her to marry him for reasons that had nothing to do with romance. Pretending should have been simple, except the feelings between them refuse to stay quiet.

Overall, this is a fun, low-stress read with humor, heart, and all the best romance tropes. Bella Rivers delivers again, and this book fits perfectly into her warm, feel-good world.

I absolutely devoured this book. Like… started it and suddenly it was over, and I was mad about it being over. I loved it that much. Finding out this is book five in the series honestly shocked me because now I need to go back and read everything.

Willow and Noah’s fake marriage is supposed to be simple and temporary… help him keep his family home, sign the papers, play happy couple. No feelings. Except small town life, living together, and years of unspoken tension make that plan fall apart very fast.

This book gave me all the cozy fall vibes… apple orchards, autumn weddings, and that tight-knit town energy where everyone is watching. Watching their pretend marriage slowly turn real was so satisfying. The tension builds beautifully, the chemistry is constant, and when they finally give in? Perfect. Absolutely worth the wait.

I adored Willow and Noah together. Their connection felt natural, warm, and easy, and the found family moments made the whole story even better. This was comforting, romantic, and genuinely hard to put down.

I wasn’t ready for it to end — which honestly tells you everything you need to know.

Available now on KU and Amazon.

What to expect

Small town romance
Unrequited love
Marriage of convenience
Found family
Adorable dogs
Meddling ghosts
Banter
Delicious chemistry

I loved returning to Emerald Creek for Willow and Noah’s story. The other characters are like our friends by now.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Willow has always been in love with Noah but he never knew. When he needs to find a wife he chooses her to be the woman best suited for the role. She doesn’t agree at first but then after some meddling she realises that it’s in the town’s best interests if she says yes.

I loved Willow’s depth of character and how she was so selfless in wanting to do what was best even if it hurt her. Noah had to play catch up but boy did he fall for her. He didn’t realise at first that Willow was faking anything and when he found out, he couldn’t believe how blind he had been!

I really enjoyed the push pull of their growing relationship and how when they finally succumbed to their delicious chemistry, Noah had a dirty talking mouth. So good!

They had a lot to overcome and his wicked step mother trying to destroy everything but in the end a few ghosts and true love win.

I highly recommend reading this book and series.

How To Fake a Husband by @bellariversauthor was like a hot tea, wrapped in a cozy blanket, in front of the fire. But also the tea has some kick to it 😜
I was drawn to apply for this ARC because of the cover and I'm so glad I did!! I loved it to so much. While this is book 5 of the Emerald Creek, I didn't feel like I was missing anything by not having read the first 4. That is so important with a standalone series! That being said, I will 100% be going back and reading all of them! I'm obsessed with this town and it's people now.

Willow was so amazing. I would love to be friends with her in real life. Noah was such a good dude, and I was giddy to know he had a dirty spicy mouth 😍 Their banter was lovely. I didn't know I had a "my wife" kink, but now I do.

Can't wsit to visit Emerald Creek, and you should too!!
