He told himself he was over her. She told herself she could handle seeing him again. They were both wrong, and neither one of them wants to be right.BRIDGER When Lyric shows up at my event asking questions about irregularities on the circuit, I know exactly what she’s talking about—because I’ve been noticing the same things. Someone’s rigging scores, drugging stock, and now they’ve made it clear they’ll do whatever it takes to keep her quiet. I’m not letting her chase this alone. Sangre Vista Ranch is safe, and we can work together to figure out who’s behind this before anyone else gets hurt. The problem is, keeping her close means remembering why I could never keep my hands off her.
LYRIC I’ve covered rodeos long enough to know when something’s wrong, and what I’m finding goes deeper than bad luck or coincidence. Approaching Kingston West means facing the man I walked away from, but when my investigation puts a target on my back, he’s the only person I trust. Working together at his family’s ranch should be pool our information, find the truth, expose whoever’s destroying the sport we both love. Except nothing about being near this cowboy has ever been simple, and every day I spend in his world makes leaving again feel impossible.
While each book in this series features one couple and a guaranteed HEA, the titles may be more enjoyable read in order.
Lyric and Kingston split a few years ago, but her job covering the rodeo circuit that he still works in has them crossing paths again, just as a new conspiracy threatens to take them all down. There's so much action and suspense - not just with investigating the conspiracy but also privately between these two - I was instantly hooked and couldn't put this story down!
I adored the delicious tension between Lyric and King as they quite literally couldn't keep their hands off each other, especially when King realizes that he's the only one who could keep her safe.
I do feel the need to warn sensitive readers - there's a shocking, but tastefully handled, tragedy with an animal (in the course of the rodeo) that brought me to tears. Necessary, but difficult nonetheless.
Perhaps my favorite part was how the author incorporated country music so deeply into the story, demonstrating how important lyrics can be, how much easier it is for some people to communicate in song.
The story moves briskly along with excellent pacing and detailed world-building. There's a lovely Thanksgiving surprise, and I thought it was the perfect way to resolve some of the tension in their relationship.
I loved that the story took us back to JW and Echo (from the previous book) and seamlessly wove this new story in with all the others in the series, giving us such beautiful closure for the entire Wheaton clan. This was a beautiful way to end an amazing series.
I have been anxiously waiting for Heather Slade to finally give us Bridger’s story, and let me tell you—it was worth every single second of the wait.
Bridger is exactly the kind of hero I love: a man of few words with a heart that completely engulfs you. Pairing him with Lyric was absolute perfection. The plot kicks off with Lyric stumbling into a situation that goes way over her head, putting her life in serious danger and forcing her right back into the path of the man she left behind.
The chemistry is palpable. Even though they’ve been apart, you can feel that Bridger never got over her; he’s the kind of man who will love her until his last breath. Heather has such a gift for making you truly feel along with her characters—I went through tears, happiness, and everything in between.
I literally could not put this book down. It has the perfect balance of suspense and mystery, including a twist I genuinely did not see coming. Their love story arc is beautiful, and you can’t help but root for them to finally get their HEA.
Plus, for fellow fans, there are some really exciting clues sprinkled in for the new Sangre Vista spin-off! If you love romantic suspense with high stakes and deep emotional payoffs, you need to read this.
What a wonderful way to wrap up the Roaring Fork series! Kingston also known as Bridger and Lyric had a brief relationship over 3 years ago until she ran scared. Lyric started Rodeo Roundup a online podcast in college and it took off and she has now developed it into a career. Kingston was a champion rodeo competitor until he became an up and coming stock contractor. These two work in the same world but manage to avoid each other until danger comes to the rodeo. They each have seen some stuff that is alarming and impacting the sport they love. When Lyric is directly threatened Kingston goes into protective mode.
Thrown together to find out who is throwing competitions, endangering animals and making money off the sport. These two have to figure out who they can trust in their immediate circles as it appears they have traitors amongst them.
The chemistry and attraction is still there between these two. Will they finally build a relationship together that can last? Kingston will protect Lyric with everything he has but will these two admit their feelings of love before it's too late.
As always a wonderful and engaging book by Heather Slade.
I started this book at 8:30 AM this morning and I just finished it, at 5:30 PM I love the previous four books in this series. BUT this one is over the top fantastic!!
This story has all the hot cowboys, the highly intelligent main characters and a HUGE family on both sides, and not all of it is blood related which is a super huge bonus in my book. It also has drama, spicy scenes, bad characters in the not legal activities category, and some superb funny children! And a Grama that made me cry. That scene was super super special!!!
As per usual with all the works of Heather Slade, she remembers the little details. I have never been to a Rodeo before but her description of this event was almost as though I was there; the noise, the smells and the excitement. I have been to Las Vegas and she described THE WYNN perfectly. And personally, the details are what create a high point for me when reading a book.
This is a stand-alone book, but if you want the whole scope start with Book 1 — Roaring Fork Wrangler!!
Thank you so much Heather Slade for all your words.
Second Chances and Sabotage Three years ago, Lyric walked away from Bridger and broke both their hearts. Now, they find themselves in the same place again—trying to solve the same mystery. Someone is sabotaging the rodeo, and Lyric is asking questions—questions that put her in danger. When things escalate, she turns to the one man she still trusts. Bridger is already investigating what’s going on, and as they begin working together, the pull between them is as strong as ever. But after everything that happened between them, is a second chance even possible? As their investigation deepens, so does the danger. Someone clearly doesn’t want the truth uncovered, and it raises the stakes for both of them—not just emotionally, but physically as well. Why did Lyric walk away in the first place? And can they mend what was broken, or has too much time—and hurt—passed between them? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to those who like second-chance romance with a touch of mystery and suspense. I look forward to what Heather Slade writes next.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | The Wait Was Absolutely Worth It! Heather Slade has done it again, but this one feels extra special. If you’ve been following this world since the beginning, you know that Lyric is the character we’ve all been dying to see get her "happily ever after." After first meeting her books ago, the anticipation for her story was at a fever pitch—and let me tell you, Roaring Fork Bridger delivers on every single level.
"He told himself he was over her... She told herself she could handle seeing him again. They were both wrong." That line perfectly encapsulates the heart of this book. It’s emotional, high-stakes, and incredibly satisfying to finally see Lyric find the man who will stand by her side when things get dangerous.
Whether you’re a long-time fan who has been waiting for Lyric’s debut or a newcomer looking for a scorching romantic suspense, Roaring Fork Bridger is a must-read. Heather Slade remains the queen of the modern cowboy.
I have been waiting for Lyric's story for ages, and it did not disappoint.
Kingston and Lyric are polar opposites. Where Kingston is the strong, silent type, Lyric is in your face and will tell you exactly what she is thinking, but the thing is, these two are made for each other. Kingston will do anything to protect Lyric as she investigates irregularities on the rodeo circuit, and with him, it is true what they say: actions speak louder than words. Even though Lyric thinks she can handle things on her own, she soon realizes that she may be in over her head and may need help from the one person she trusts most besides her brother.
I think Roaring Forks has become my favourite series from Heather Slade. There is so much raw emotion in every story that you cannot help but be affected by each story. The one thing I love about Slade books is that not only is there action and suspense, but at the heart of each story is family, both blood and found. I am so excited for the Sangre Vista spinoff series!!!!
Bridger AKA Kingston and Lyric have made appearances in many of the Roaring Fork and Crested Butte series. Finally, they are both getting their HEA together and kicking off a new series, which I look forward to. Something is amiss on the rodeo circuit and an old timer points rodeo reporter Lyric Simmons in the direction of Kingston West. Meaning look into how quickly his livestock has made a name for themselves. These two had a history and it would appear neither is truly over the other. Together they need to figure out what is going on. The weird thing is when I read this book, PBR Championship Bull Man Hater suffered a fatal injury in Little Rock. When you read the book, you'll understand the reference. 4 out of 5 stars as there were a few discrepancies that as a former team roper I said nope, not how we roll, calf ropers 100%. I always give the author a lot of creative freedom, and I completely understand what Ms. Slade envisioned.
This book wraps the Roaring Fork series and leads in to the Sangre Vista Ranch series. If you have read the Roaring Fork in order and you should, Kingston/Bridger meets up with the love of his life at rodeo three years after relationship broke down. Lyric is on to a story and is getting too close and it puts her in danger, Kingston is determined to protect her. Kingston keeps a lot to himself but that does not mean he does not feel things, Lyric has a lot of baggage from neglect from her parents.
Someone it tampering with the animals at the rodeo, to fix the outcomes, the pair work together to find out who is behind it and to stop it. At the same time they are trying to find what they still mean to each other. This is an emotional story of second chances, I absolutely love Kingston, he has a bigger heart than he shows most people. Looking forward to the next in the Sangre Vista Ranch.
I har been anxiously waiting for Heather Slade to write Bridger’s story. The man with few words but a heart that will completely engulf you. And to have the long awaited tale of Lyric! What a perfect pairing. Lyric stumbles into a story that goes way over her head and threatens her life which puts her right back in the path of the man she left behind. Bridger never got over her and even apart you know he’ll love her to his last breath. Slade has a way to make you feel with her characters - tears, happiness and everything between. I could NOT put this book down. There was the right amount of suspense and mystery with a twist you won’t see coming. And their love story arc was beautiful! They make you want to root for the beauty in their love and for their HEA. This book will give you some exciting clues to the new Sangre Vista spin off!
Lyric and Bridger/King were a couple a few years ago but due to her relationship with her parents she ran before she thought he would break up with her, breaking both their hearts. Now he's about to ride in the rodeo to fill in for someone else, she can't not watch and he acknowledges her as he used to. She's a reporter for the circuit and sees something concerning, she hears it's something to do with his ranch and confronts him. He's already aware that something untoward is occurring but doesn't know who's involved. Then she's threatened and needs protecting, he persuades her to let him help her. She's very wary as her heart is still vulnerable and she's an independent, stubborn woman! More events occur, can they work together to catch the culprits before any more animals are targeted?
This is book 5 in the Roaring Fork Ranch Series. If you don’t have a thing for cowboys already you will after this.
Kingston and Lyric have history. It’s different than what most people believe but it’s still true and strong. When Kingston realizes that Lyric is in trouble there is no one else who will keep her safe but him. He doesn’t know if he can let her back in but no one will hurt her. Lyric can’t believe her luck. Kingston is back in her orbit and she fears the same thing she didn’t all those years ago. There is only one difference. This time around she is not sure if she can stop herself from going all in.
Whether Heather Slade is writing spy novels or sexy hot cowboys you will never regret the read.
Roaring Fork Bridger is book 5 in the Roaring Fork Ranch series by Heather Slade and the final book in this series!
Lyric has an online presence for a podcast she created in college called Rodeo Roundup and over the years it has grown but at recent rodeos while crossing the events she’s noticed things don’t seem right. When she runs into Kingston “Bridger” a man she ran from when their relationship when it got to deep for her to handle. He also sees things happening at the rodeos. They team up to figure out what’s happening, danger, suspense, steamy scenes, who can they trust, attraction and can he keep her safe so they can find the HEA they deserve.
I voluntarily read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Bridger (King West) is a stock contractor. He supplies animals for rodeos. Lyric has the biggest independent rodeo site in the county since college called Rodeo Roundup. They were a couple three years ago, but she left him. Now she’s back in town and is chasing wrong doings in the rodeo circuit, but she’s doing that discreetly on her own. When Bridger finds out he knows he has to protect her at all costs. He’s noticed things, too on the circuit. There are attempts on her life, so they end up at his ranch. Now they will work together to try and solve this mystery. Can they really work together when feelings are just as strong as before? This is a deep love story with a side of investigation, which almost makes it interesting.
I really enjoyed reading Bridger . It's a sensational suspense romance . It's so well written and the characters are wonderful . Bridger and Lyric have a past . She ran scared when their relationship and feelings grew deeper . They tried convincing themselves they were over each other but when they find themselves face to face the truth comes out . Lyric has been involved with the Rodeo circuit and knows something is going on and Bridger sees it too . When danger comes for Lyric , Bridger steps up to protect her . They find that the trouble is closer than they thought . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
Bridger is the perfect ending to the Roaring Fork series and Heather Slade just may have saved the best for last. Kingston "Bridger" West is a retired bull riding champion who now breeds and supplies roughstock to the rodeo circuit. He's stoic and a man of few words. He let his deeds and his reputation speak for him. Lyric Simmons is the premier reporter for all things rodeo. She gets the inside scoop ahead of everyone else. She and Bridger have a past. She walked away for all the wrong reasons. Now she's working on a story that assuredly put her in danger. Bridger is going to make sure that doesn't happen. The spark between now glows hotter than a wild fire. They work together to pull all the threads and reveal the truth of who's behind the deadly game of sabotage that's being waged on the circuit. Ultimately, they become the couple they were meant to be and are joined by players from the rest of the series in celebrating their future together. Plus, Heather Slade introduces us to characters who will populate the spinoff series, Sangre Vista Ranch. I can't wait!
Roaring Fork Bridger is the 5th and final book in the Roaring Fork Ranch series, but more than the previous ones, it can easily be read as a standalone. Lyric and Bridger's story is an emotional and steamy second-chance-at-love romance combined with a very subtle yet still nail-biting suspense plot. Add in the excellenty described excitement of pro-rodeo events and you've got an awesome additon to the series that ends with not just a wonderful HEA for the couple, but a very sentimental epilogue that brings everything full circle and left me with tears in my eyes. Can't wait to read the upcoming spin-off series!
Roaring Fork Bridger is a fantastic fifth book to the to the Roaring Fork Ranch series!!! Heather Slade really saved the best for last in my opinion I absolutely loved this book. It moved me to tears. The suspense, the action, the cowboys, the love, the passion, ohhh and the heat. Its all there in this book. You will love this book. Lyric and Bridger come together to try an figure out what is going on in the circuit. Someone is messing with the bulls and scores an nobody knows who. Ohhh it gets so good! The suspense is amazing keeps you guessing till the end! A Must read!
Bridger and Lyric This second chance romance is set not on the Roaring Forks ranch but on their uncle's ranch with beautiful views but also a place where family is what matters most. But when the podcast owner and cowboy start to see the same things happen in different locations or when things don’t add up like they are supposed to? What does the podcaster and cowboy do? Well, what would Heather Slade’s books be without a little intrigue? That's right peeps, the build of suspense in this book will have you wanting to turn the page on this one. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
After Lyric notices irregularities on the rodeo circuit, someone wants to shut her up but Bridger plans to step between her and trouble.
I enjoyed the whole setting of this book. Cowboys and girls but also the suspense really laid down the plot. Bridger and Lyric were so good together. Working together helped set them up.
Fast paced with an intensity in the suspense. Danger, drama and a thrilling romance.
Beautifully written. This author knows how to put the reader in the picture and gives a great storyline that captivates from the start. Brilliant read!!
WHEW…I’m having a hard time putting words to this amazing journey for Bridger & Lyric! Had me in all of my feels!!
The wait & anger for Lyric, would she run again, the suspense of what the heck was going on and who to trust was superbly written! I kept waiting anxiously for something to happen at every page but couldn’t tell from where or who!
What a heart racing, suspenseful romance that will bring you to tears, make you swoon as Bridger & Lyric travel that heartfelt journey to their love of a lifetime!
I am so not ready for this series to be over as I just love Roaring Fork Ranch and everyone there, however if it has to end it being Bridger Kingston and Lyrics second chance. Seeing the pull these two have for each other along with how Lyric knows Bridger is the one that can help her uncover what's going on had me soo happy. You get the perfect blend of romance along with suspense and danger an seeing other characters you've gotten to know which had me staying up late as I wasn't putting it down till the end!
This was a great read! It’s the last book of the series and it involved the rodeo world too which I love. What I loved most was she was able to make you feel tragedy when it happens and it’s done well to the point, I cried and that makes a really good book in my opinion. There is a lot going on and I also see this a second chance romance too. I’m not one to summarize the book but just want to mention it was a really great book and series.
"Roaring Fork Bridger" (Roaring Fork Ranch Book 5) by Heather Slade was a great read. I loved Lyric and Kingston's story. This story had romance, passion, cowboys, family, friends, second chances, twists, and more. This was a terrific addition to this series. I'm looking forward to reading what happens next in the new series, Sangre Vista Ranch. I highly recommend it to all fans of romance, cowboys, family, and series.
Just loved Bridger and Lyric’s story. It’s a wonderful addition to this series. Their story is non stop action from start to finish as they work together to try and figure out who is fixing the rodeo event outcomes. There are some wonderful family moments with the other members of Roaring Forks. A real feel good read!
Wow! Bridger and Lyric make such a great pair even though they are both guarding their hearts against this second time possible heartache. And the story has such excellent suspense and intrigue. My powers of deduction failed me on this one, figuring out who was responsible for tampering with the rodeo animals and the scoring! Well worth the read!
This book delivers a consuming romance that is packed with emotions and suspense. Bridger and Lyric are incredible characters with a chemistry that just will not quit. You can expect your heart to get a workout while you are kept right on the edge from this skillfully crafted tale of danger, action, emotion, feels, family, heart and heat.
This last story in this series really pulled me in with the mix of danger, mystery, and that unresolved tension I love so much. Bridger and Lyric’s chemistry is intense, and throwing them back together at the ranch while everything unravels kept me completely hooked. Emotional, suspenseful, and a total second chance swoon. I couldn’t put it down!!
Heather Slade brought the rodeo circuit to life with this story. Kingston West aka. Bridger and Lyric Simmons are the perfect couple. They both noticed something strange occurring on the circuit, and Bridger wants to protect Lyric. A second chance cowboy romance you won't want miss.
A thriller that wears it's heart on it's sleeve. Bridger and Lyric turn tainted love into an enduring romance. Slade brings the drama to a dangerous tale of never ending intrigue and unpredictable emotion. Temptation worth sinking your soul into.
